Let's be honest, we had to win this, the second half was just atrocious. It's gonna be another wooden spoon because we just aren't used to win. We can play some good rugby for limited amount of time but in the end the guys are just scared to win. Just incredibly frustrating.
@@epsilonbeta4877it’s fitness and discipline. They have the talent - and that is great- but missing is the coaching and conditioning to play 80minutes. England just knows how to grind and stay in the game. Zero creativity. Next year.

@@tristap He wasn't held onto, he was tackled, a 100% tackle and as the rule say if you want to raise again and start to running you should put the ball on the field, release it, then pick it up again and restart your run. Otherwise it's a double movement. Period. Rules speak clear, refrees bot at all.

That's the difference about a double movement and a single one.
You can do what Ioane did, you can't do what Mitchell did.

As an Italian man i did play rugby for 15 years, following almost every single international rugby game for Italy, i was confident to see Italy winning the game yesterday, it didn't happen, but still i am beyond grateful to see we are moving and improving in the right direction.

What a performance from Italy against a team that nearly beat the Springboks and drew with the All Blacks. Congrats!!! It's hard to believe that they conceded over 90 points against NZ last year and the fact that they've gone through a lot ot 6 nations tournaments winless. They've shown us that they're more than capable of achieving big things and they can certainly play beautiful rugby when they want to. Believe in yourselves, tidy up your defence, give it your all in every match... and you will go far. You're getting closer to beating England for the first time too... it's coming!

@@ryans32978 I agree with you, however after years it has shown that it can compete in the six nations instead of being the nation that is seen as not worthy of it and just trying to save itself from the wooden spoon and to have this result is a bit disappointing . I hope next year makes more progress.
Regardless of the result or any result in the past year or two, Italy play such an exciting brand of rugby. A joy to watch, I reckon they’ll take a scalp or two this year and all the best to them!

You don't watch much Rugby, do you? Maybe this is your first game where you were sober? Italy play excellent, fast, open Rugby. England doesn't. They rely on weight, brutality, and a callousness about whether the opponents get put out of the game for good.

I remember when Italy joined the six nation they were the whipping boys, they've come from far.
Italy did badly some generational player change, but when they comes in the 6N wasn't at all wipping boys. Invited in the tournament after having won the FIRA cup beating at Paris the France Grand Slam winner. Two months later destroying Ireland in Dublin, three months later crushing Scotland at Murrayfield. Then they joined in on invite.
Italy had the bad luck to join in a tournament in the middle of the change of rugby from an amatourish/semi-pro level, to a full Pro level. Where Nations with more money to invest taken the lead (British/French) and Italy sadly didn't had the money to keep their pace, plus some bad decisiona of the former FIR managements and President. But now the music has changed luckily.

Loving the way Italy are playing. Every season they get better and better. I think they're going to win a couple of games this year. The game of rugby is evolving to a point where I believe within a decade the likes of Italy, Wales (if they can sort out their internal issues),Argentina,Fiji and Samoa can really start pushing the traditional big teams which would be better for the game. All Blacks supporter here.

That first half from Italy was much better than anything I've seen from them for a while. Really promising and only 5 training sessions.

England were, as usual, quite clinical: intelligent. All kicks to the posts were "a-Ford-able". I get the feeling England needs quality youth to get going further, than just being clinical. Italy seem to be an eternal potential upsetter, very similar to Argentina in two ways: consistent losses, and inconsistent quality play. It is too early to judge the new coach, Quesada, of huge success as a player and Coach in the Super Rugby (remember Jaguares were runner-up after only 4 years in the tournament, and then the Aussies and NZ, seconded by SA, found a way of excluding the argentine franchise just in time before being further embarrased...). It appears the italians don´t have national depth in many positions, but they certainly have a few quality players. The real challenge for Quesada is to keep on building teamwork until better players appear in most positions.

Need to give Obano, Heyes, Feyi-Waboso and Furbank a chance against Wales. Sorry to say but Marler, Stuart, Daly and Steward aren't the future for England. We really lack in the the front row and we need an extra playmaker on the backs

England’s 2nd try, how is that not a double movement? That tackle was 100% complete. The refs clearly forget that the tackle has to release the ball carrier when he brings him to ground, it doesn’t mean he “wasn’t held”, he still has to release the ball before he gets to his feet and grabs it again. Wrong call and that’s probably cost the Italians the game

Hopefully not just a one off for Italy. They need to be competitive to draw in the crowds. More and more fans losing interest in rugby especially when it's a dead rubber. Spells trouble for the tier 2 nations as well in bringing in money for matches against tier 1s.
