I think Mileena is easy to learn, but as with Smoke ("if he teleports off the back of the screen, block low, and if he tosses a smoke grenade over your head, block high"), I think a lot of people know how to counter her. You can't just raw into the rolling ball or the teleports most of the time unless your opponent is in the air or is otherwise vulnerable.
I’d argue Raiden is the easiest character in the game so far because he gets a lot of work done with 2 combo strings and 2 special moves. I haven’t seen anyone use his EX teleport because the majority of Raiden players I fought either backed away or were reckless and ran in medallions blazing. It’s the effect of fighting the same character and getting hit with the same attack enough times that you learn what to expect.
@@SvalblodChampion maybe if you don’t use the hype meter then yeah, I can believe that. This is also just me but if you can get a lot of damage done with 2 combo strings, 2 special moves, and (specifically for this game) only one kameo assist then you’re in easy mode.
I've been playing Rain/Scorpion since day 1, ironically because I thought he was going to be a good zoning character...which didn't end up being the case. However, I ended up still loving his kit and sticking with him regardless. He was definitely tricky to learn but the combos can be very satisfying; plus the hard-to-blockable setups can sometimes clutch you out a game.

Ofc there are gonna be braindead smokes, but to be good with smoke tqkes far more effort then the majority of the cast. ESPECIALLY Cage
I plan on learning every character. I just max leveled scorpion a couple weeks ago, as well as Shoa and Rain before him. Chillin with scorpion till the end of the KL season
Scorpion has been my favourite character since i was a kid playing mk2 for the first time. I loved his story, his moves and everything. When i saw what they did with scorpion in this game storywise i was super hyped. Then on release day when i played scorpion for the first time i felt super disappointed🤣
Let's Go TrueUnderDawg!!!!!!! You're a great artist buddy!!!!!!! Can you please make a Mortal Kombat Onslaught video I've been playing it it's fun! Oh and BUFF SCORPION 🦂! 👊🏻🎮🐉🦂🦂🦂✌🏻
I'm shao main. Once you get a grasp of the cans and can nots, he becomes pretty straight forward. A breeze to master and probably one of the most fun you can get out of mk1.
I’ve been mainly playing Mileena and Li Mei and so far Li Mei has felt better in fights. Mileena is fun but something isn’t clicking when I try to pull off her combos in an actual match
I've played a lot of Mortal Kombat growing up, so I'm not new to mortal Kombat, but i don't know anything like safe and unsafe combos, or anything like that, I'm just a casual player that enjoys playing with my dad. So imagine my surprise when I keep hearing everyone say that my favorite character and new main is the hardest character in the game to learn
I’ve played very few shangs but all I can say is that everyone who mains him always zone. Then once you corner him he either grabs or does that backwards lung then zone again (saying they zone w/him a lot then combo to get away to zone)
Awesome tier list love the distinction with easy to play vs win literally came into wondering what I’d be haha you should do a “Easiest to Hardest to win with” or “What your main says about you” too I’d love see it
Honestly, the johny cage one didn't make sense since a lot of his combos can knock the opponent away or stun them. With sub zero you can freeze your opponent, taunt, than go for a combo. It's honestly really easy for johny to get his star power
Kung Lao has a bit higher skill ceiling than mentioned. He's the only character that can armor and then combo through gaps in certain strings. To play Lao at his full potential, you have to know each character's gaps.
I think rain is hard to fight against that first set , after that he becomes a lot easier to fight against cause you know how to punish him . The scariest thing is a rain just doing offense for free , you will get opened up
Disagree on smoke very much. he's extremely reliable on various tactics, other way he's too predictable and is countered ez (once you learn to react to his moves). He's very ez to counter if he's not playing mind games and tactics. And those tactics are difficult to master. And on top of that his cancels are real pain in the ass to master. In this particular t-list he surely belongs in "hardest" or at least on the first places of "difficult".
Hot take: Kitana is the most downplayed character in this game. Has top 3 zoning great combo damage and the back dash game plan is insane to deal with especially online
I wonder what each of the Kombat Pack 1 characters will be ranked, if I had to guess (Hardest to Easiest): Omni-Man, Takeda, Ermac, Peacemaker, Quan Chi, Homelander. Omni-Man looks like he'll take lots of quick inputs and command grabs, while Homelander, as many people are convinced, is probably gonna zone with his laser eyes and sonic scream mostly, but that is just 2 things he would use, what other specials would he have to zone with?
As a smoke player all you really need to do is teleport and throw the smoke bomb but since when could he turn invisible but I think he should be where he is
Rains moves being slow make him all the more difficult to utilize and learn You have to learn when to use specific moves because you can’t just throw them out whenever you want all the time
You don’t know how happy I was when I saw Havik be put in the hardest tier as a Havik main, if you lose to Havik you just suck. Imo he’s a struggle character just because how slow he is & he relies on his kameo the most of any character. He has some cheap stuff but not nearly as much to make up for his downsides that force you to be very patient & learn to get good with his honest buttons. 9/10 when someone loses to Havik it’s because they didn’t lab the matchup to realize how gimmicky the character is. Also with Tanya it’s funny cuz I play with friends that main her & when I tell you that’s one of Havik’s worst matchups honestly, she counters basically his whole kit lol. People were downplaying her so much in the beginning but she’s honestly of the better characters in the game.
Love seeing someone who knows what they are talking about Johnny. Not saying “he’s the easiest character in the game.” He’s easy to pick up difficult to master
I was a Shinnok main in MKX because i played Shang Tsung for a long time in other games. At some point, I was playing my opponents’ characters better than them after absorbing their souls
I started to main kenshi because I liked him as a character but man was I in for a rude awakening when I realized how hard he was to play. Tho he is fun when you get the hang of him
Shang Tsung is really not that hard to learn (especially paired with Sareena) once you get good at changing from young and old multiple times during combos and attack strings. Just like the combo showcase i posted. I agree about Kenshi being the hardest. But the easiest to learn is Sub Zero and Scorpion. I also think Nitara probably belongs in the top 5 hardest to master. She is just such a different playstyle than everyone else. Shes like a super glass cannon that has to spend meter constantly you hardly get to use breakers with her.
everyones gotta remember hard doesnt mean bad and easy doesnt mean good, for example Kenshi is hard to learn but hes also a top 2 character in the game, scorpion and sub are easy to learn but not very good
I would argue Shang Tsung is the hardest. To keep pressure you have to keep changing back and forth, and master every character even Kenshi the character he’s stating is the Hardest to learn
Rain kinda relies on his overhead or low. But if you land it haincombos are great and j love how paring him with subzero makes his combos amazing and his zoning actually broken. Seriously I had to fight a zoning Shang and ice shield just saved me from so much damage… Also ice shield allows you to walk through ice clones which allowed me to have a subzero try and attack me thinking I was frozen
I love nitara so much actually, shes kinda difficult but since she isnt super popular, im not the highest rank, but some people get confused, and shes actually so fun and fluid, theres one mixup that ik is super reactable but if you slip its an easy 380 with one bar, you can do the same combo with her low too if you use sareena, and shes fun
Raiden does have crazy damage. A level 100 got 80% damage on me consistently during 5 rounds in Kombat League. Granted the dude only did that string everytime... 5 rounds means I would win too.
Then I also hate Raiden. Because you could essentially do overhead- hard knockdown- storm cell. Then basically keep doing that until the opponent gets frustrated and blocks it inevitably opening up that low sweep combo starter. Then it’s 40-50% every time with Jax Kameo.
I love havik, i know like 2 basic combos and still shit on these dudes who spent hours in the lab practicing their one big 40% combo. My only complaint with him is that a lot of his moves require a lot of start up so you really have to learn the timings and counters youre against
As a reptile main very rarely do i use invisibility. Its too short even a hit while blocking knocks you out of it and the time to reach invisibility is well too long. I usually only see it used in mirror matches
@HashiramaSells As a Reptile player myself you are making a huge mistake not going invisible. His combos give you 50/50 invisibility for free on top of that cameos like Sub/Scorp give damage and utility along with that.Striker grenade gives you enough cover to do it from mid to full screen.
You cant mix all those kameos tho. I use serena to open up people and then hit a combo. I do go invisible here and there its just the time to turn invisible and the time you stay invisible plus getting hit while blocking knocks you out of it makes the risk rarely worth the reward. I hit God rank without it maybe used it a handful of times altogether
@@TheEnigma271 they need set up to use it. And i do use it here and there but the time it takes to pop and if they touch you at all while you're green it goes away. So for me and my playstyle reptiles fine without it but just like they cant see me i cant see of im in range to start a combo its just an odd ability imo. Sometimes useful but not needed for me. I reach God rank both seasons and only stopped just bc I dont feel like pushing up to elder god and i had like 2 3 weeks last season i just wasnt feeling it. And this season so buggy w desyncs idk if ima play ranked at all 😂
I am BRAND new to fighting games. I played the main story of Mortal Kombat 11 and played around with the AI in towers. I played Injustice 1's main story years ago. But this is the first time I've tried to actually get good at a fighting game beyond just beating the main campaign (which let's be honest, it's not that hard and doesn't really require you to know much about fighting games). However, I've been finding Geras to actually be the easiest character! The inputs for his sandstorm are a little difficult and that's really his only ranged attack. And sure, there's a high skill ceiling where you can do awesome stuff with his klone and stuff. But other than that? He has an easy special move that literally just... negates the next damage you take. And he can literally stop time and teleport to where the opponent can't block or anything. And managing his countdown charges doesn't seem too difficult. He's got a normal kombo that just gives him an hourglass. So I just do that kombo when I can and do the countdown ability whenever I get knocked back or they run away. Also as a new player I'm not very good at knowing when to amplify my moves or anything, so I often would go a long time with full meter. However, I've since learned that you can amplify his little Countdown move to just instantly give you max charges! So generally he has an easy move that lets you make a mistake and get out of danger. He has an easy way to attack without worrying about being countered or blocked. And he has easy normal kombos that do a lot of damage without having to learn crazy strings of precise inputs that weave in amplifications and air moves and dodges. And yeah, his little 4-4 blast is very fun and it's pretty easy to just do that and jump up for the punches and the grab that slams them down again. Not to mention his little f1-2-throw move! The f1 part isn't very impressive, but creating that wall with the 2 part is really powerful and often hits people dodging away or trying to run in to get me
I’m probably just bad but smoke vapor cancels alone make him in the hard tier for me. I don’t main him but damn that shit is tragic when you open someone up and miss the cancel😢
I use nitara with goro for the sweep into grab. Catches a lot of people off guard when it happens. I can’t get too big a combo out of it yet but I just got the game a few days ago so….😅🤧
The parry king is A tier too… ehat a bulsh117… the easy characters do 37 x combo and only have 35-40 % combo dmg the hardest do 12 x combo and have 60x dmg..
"The only people playing Scorpion is because they really like the character". Yeah, then you remember he is not really THE Scorpion. I just abandoned the character in this game which is weird because he was my favorite since the original games. He is so bad.

@@Pac365 i have, unfortunately you can’t win a round just throwing. It would be sick tho. I don’t know how you find it easy, I’d say 90% of the roaster is easier than him.
Yeah and u have to use kung Lao to make up for the lack of range or play risky and do scorpion to combo extend
I’ve never enjoyed playing a character as much I do Rain in this game….unbelievable mixups and the animations are just so darn 😍
You definitely have to think the least as raiden
I believe Johnny is easier
@@SvalblodChampionyeah I agree, so many mixup that are safe on block that lead to 30%+ combos easily.
@@SvalblodChampion maybe if you don’t use the hype meter then yeah, I can believe that. This is also just me but if you can get a lot of damage done with 2 combo strings, 2 special moves, and (specifically for this game) only one kameo assist then you’re in easy mode.
Yeah like Raiden players dont really need to have skills .
Our boi spoiling the list at 5:38
I've been playing Rain/Scorpion since day 1, ironically because I thought he was going to be a good zoning character...which didn't end up being the case. However, I ended up still loving his kit and sticking with him regardless. He was definitely tricky to learn but the combos can be very satisfying; plus the hard-to-blockable setups can sometimes clutch you out a game.
The fact he feels Johnny is more difficult than Smoke... smh
if he swapped smoke and johnny it'd be a solid enough list
Smoke is easy asf
@@Luis-gn7ln you clearly have not tried Smoke at a high level of comp then.
@@GamexHunter10 smoke was my main for a while but I wanted to learn more difficult characters cause he was to easy maybe it’s just me bc I pick up on things pretty quick but I find geras havik rain and reiko who are my current mains to be more difficult
@@Luis-gn7ln I would say on average those characters are on the more difficult side. But mastering invisibility setups, control, qnd pressure/mixups is a challenege. Also his vapor cancels are semi-difficult. Especially online. And also playing him without juet doing the mindless full screen low/overhead tqkes a lot of work to get good at.
This is helpful to everyokeb
I’ve been waiting for you to make this video
In God rank Kitana is literally the hardest character to beat. When they know what they're doing with zoning, there is NOTHING. You can do.
As a scorpion main I feel like you have all the tools to win you just have to be that much better then your opponent. With that said buff teli
Wait a minute why scorpin and Kung Lao gets swapped at the end
Kung Lao has a bit higher skill ceiling than mentioned. He's the only character that can armor and then combo through gaps in certain strings. To play Lao at his full potential, you have to know each character's gaps.
With Havik i just let my inner chaos control my moves and it actually works
Your opponent will accept chaos, by choice or by force 😂
Kenshi is like Fujin in MK 11, hard execution with a great reward. It's a shame how Shang is not like this.
Hot take: Kitana is the most downplayed character in this game. Has top 3 zoning great combo damage and the back dash game plan is insane to deal with especially online
I don’t think her zoning is even that good tbh. She is very good at whiff punishing though and making you come to her I will say.
Kitana sucks, dude
I wonder what each of the Kombat Pack 1 characters will be ranked, if I had to guess (Hardest to Easiest): Omni-Man, Takeda, Ermac, Peacemaker, Quan Chi, Homelander. Omni-Man looks like he'll take lots of quick inputs and command grabs, while Homelander, as many people are convinced, is probably gonna zone with his laser eyes and sonic scream mostly, but that is just 2 things he would use, what other specials would he have to zone with?
I love Quan Chi and Reptile! Quan chi got some crazy mix ups, kombos are a little difficult to pick up but once you do maaaaaan you whoopin butt!!
No way you didn’t put Johnny into easy bro he requires 0 brain to play😂/
TOP 6 RAIN, SHANG TSUNG, SHAO KAHN, KENSHI, JOHNNY CAGE, KITANA
As a smoke player all you really need to do is teleport and throw the smoke bomb but since when could he turn invisible but I think he should be where he is
Rains moves being slow make him all the more difficult to utilize and learn
You have to learn when to use specific moves because you can’t just throw them out whenever you want all the time
Hey, I’m not gonna lie you call on everybody who skip the video dumb at the end was pretty funny
Tho he is fun when you get the hang of him
Kenshi is hard to play but he's fucking overpowered when someone can actually play him
Shang Tsung is really not that hard to learn (especially paired with Sareena) once you get good at changing from young and old multiple times during combos and attack strings.
Shang, Rain, Sindel, and Ashrah, are my 4 best mains. I’ve been using Li Mei a lot recently though, she’s freaking fun bro👌
everyones gotta remember hard doesnt mean bad and easy doesnt mean good, for example Kenshi is hard to learn but hes also a top 2 character in the game, scorpion and sub are easy to learn but not very good
Johnny cage😂😂😂 my 12 year old cousin learned a 39 % combo in 30 minutes
This tier list is a joke
Combos are easy to do in this game in general.
I would argue Shang Tsung is the hardest. To keep pressure you have to keep changing back and forth, and master every character even Kenshi the character he’s stating is the Hardest to learn
he literally said that if you take that into account shang is the hardest
@@dylanvergara2139I know he said you COULD argue and I am
Shang and Geras definitely harder than Kenshi.
Although i main Rain I can't see Rain being harder than Nitara to play, cool comic as well
Rain kinda relies on his overhead or low. But if you land it haincombos are great and j love how paring him with subzero makes his combos amazing and his zoning actually broken. Seriously I had to fight a zoning Shang and ice shield just saved me from so much damage…
Also ice shield allows you to walk through ice clones which allowed me to have a subzero try and attack me thinking I was frozen
glad to know i can play 1 character in every tier
I wouldn’t say rain hard to play at an average- slightly above average level but at a high level the cancels and portals is kinda hard to master
I love Ashrah so much! She’s a fun and elegant character.
You should definitely make a "Win With" tier list! Because thats what I thought just like you about when watching this video lol
Raiden does have crazy damage. A level 100 got 80% damage on me consistently during 5 rounds in Kombat League. Granted the dude only did that string everytime... 5 rounds means I would win too.
Scorpion and kung Lau changed place in the end
Somebody help😭 I have max mastery on 13 characters
Then stop. Why do people act like they have to max-rank every character when they only use 2 or 3
@@zachtaylor5312 💀 it’s 14 now
Then I also hate Raiden.
My only complaint with him is that a lot of his moves require a lot of start up so you really have to learn the timings and counters youre against
Very nice and informative list but the editing mistake at 5:41 kind of spoiled the rest of the video lol
If youre not using his invis youre not using him to his full potential. Watch how honeybee uses him
@@TheEnigma271 they need set up to use it. And this season so buggy w desyncs idk if ima play ranked at all 😂
Sitting on the toilet pushing out 💩while watching this 🔥💪
I am BRAND new to fighting games.
The f1 part isn't very impressive, but creating that wall with the 2 part is really powerful and often hits people dodging away or trying to run in to get me
As a hard stuck master kitana main I'm not happy about her being considered easy, makes me question my skill level more than i already did...
Rain is pretty easy whereas nitara can be very difficult, with her air cancels
All of a sudden, it makes sense why I'm not enjoying the game. I've been unwittingly playing with the hardest characters to learn.
Ngl, johnnys combo 7 in tutorials was the hardest shit ive ever done 😂
I love playing Geras and Kenshi
You actually can combo solo off of Nitaras sweep, You down, back 2 (up fly) into ex dive kick and it combos.
Kitana has NO overheads and it makes the game so damn hard when every character I face has a built-in 50/50
Only one I disagree with is Geras. Once you memorize his combos he’s not hard to play at all
5:51 is a little spoiler lmao, it is also the most replayed part of the whole video
As someone who just started mortal kombat, I am trying to main kenshi.. I probably should of did my research first…
I’m probably just bad but smoke vapor cancels alone make him in the hard tier for me. I don’t main him but damn that shit is tragic when you open someone up and miss the cancel😢
I use nitara with goro for the sweep into grab. Catches a lot of people off guard when it happens. I can’t get too big a combo out of it yet but I just got the game a few days ago so….😅🤧
I skipped to the exact moment you said that if I skipped it was my own fault to not understand it. Feeling bad for doing it now hahah
The parry king is A tier too… ehat a bulsh117… the easy characters do 37 x combo and only have 35-40 % combo dmg the hardest do 12 x combo and have 60x dmg..
Lie Mei has one of the best mix-ups. Low kick-high
I love playing with Shang Tsung.. when you get him down pack hes awesome!
Johnny and smoke are so easy it’s wild
Amazing
"The only people playing Scorpion is because they really like the character". Yeah, then you remember he is not really THE Scorpion. I just abandoned the character in this game which is weird because he was my favorite since the original games. He is so bad.
Reiko: "With cmd grab hes difficult, without it he's garbage.."
*THE GENERAL WOULD BE PLEASED!*
I main Rain and… I was not expecting him to be up so high…
