I beat Halo 5 on Legendary. I thought the scene where Cortana was trash talking Locke and his team was outstanding. Great campaign. But Infinite was better, slightly.
I hope they give Locke the 'Ashoka treatment': Taking an initially hated character and turning them into something loved. We need good writing and an interesting performance to hopefully redeem Locke in the fans' eyes. I hope 343 can successfully utilise the potential he has instead of abandoning the character.

All of the Spartans in Halo Infinite including Master Chief and Spartan Griffin upgraded to and wear GEN3 Mjolnir. The Shadows of Reach reveals Blue Team and Palmer also upgraded to GEN3. Locke's armor on Hyperius is the Halo 5 GEN2, Locke wouldn't have been wearing that as he would have upgraded like the other Spartans. I think that the Banished found Locke's old armor during the attack on Infinity, Hyperius took it and a story was constructed as Banished propaganda that Locke was killed. It even makes sense because Locke is mentioned in a literal Banished propaganda tower.

The Halo Infinite audio logs reveal that if Master Chief wasn't going to carry the Weapon, Dr. Halsey's second pick was going to be Locke. There is also a cut post-credits Halo Infinite cutscene you can find on TH-cam where Chief and the Pilot find a distress call, finding out there are more UNSC groups on Zeta Halo that are alive. We also can't forget that Spartan Locke while not on the level of Chief, is supposed to be one of the best Spartans. 343 wouldn't kill him off-screen, they even said years ago that the Mega Construx toy of Hyperius wearing Locke's armor doesn't necessarily mean that Locke is dead.

You know here's an idea, they could make a DLC story with Locke ( not to say we won't get more John we will im sure) after his defeat. But here's the kicker, the game has Locke build his way back up to fully equipped spartan. So you'll start his story with nothing but some regular Odst armor, and his skills from his days with oni. While the story progresses he'll find bits and pieces of mark 7 power armor that he will adapt as his new armor, have either Roland or the Artemis system as his AI to move around on Halo kind of like cortana is used or the weapon that is. This will give 343 the character development they wanted give Locke, and we the players can really be shown the type of resourceful character he is, than what we were shown in h5.

Let's be honest a good chunk of the halo community hates Spartan Locke because he was advertised as being an equal to Spartan John 117. Overall his background is not that dissimilar from most distinguished special forces operatives. He is level headed, mission oriented, driven, tactically minded and professional. Something the halo community wanted the 4's to be ever since spartan ops. Their overall disposition towards the 4's in general is because they remind them to much of themselves in many ways. But what they forget is that their humanity is exactly what Rear Admiral Musa 096 wanted for his program. Hell I bet most of the halo community wouldn't even make the cut for the program if they were in the halo universe; as unlike the previous 2 programs - genetics and age are not a requirement for entry but rather exceptional skills and qualities. In order to have a chance of making the cut you would need to have extensive combat experience and skill in your given occupational field in comparison to others in your field.
I mean he is just the definition of a spartan. I understand it's funner to play as Chief as that's what I prefer as well. But noble 6 has always been loved despite that character showing almost no emotion.

And unless 343 comes out and says such, that’s quite a reach of an opinion mate. I just can’t get behind that way of thinking. It all comes down to writing. I would never write a book or any story with a lead character that I felt was meaningless. As a creator, that makes no sense and I should just never write anything if I feel that way. When I have a MC, I care deeply for them and want the audience to latch on to them. Never would I want them to feel meaningless. Writers don’t want that, trust me. Or don’t trust me, doesn’t matter it’s just your opinion but ask any writer, that’s not what they want from their MCs 99% of the time.

Now there’s always instances of not enough care given to games or characters but let’s not act like it was a purposeful decision. 343 doesn’t do the best storytelling. They’re no naughty dog. The character had all the right tools, he just needed to be out in better hands. To say he can’t be great is like writing off Thor after his first movie, hell first TWO movies. Then we got ragnarok and someone finally knew how to use him best. It’s all about whose hands that character is in. Any character can be good or bad depending on who is in charge. Not all Batman iterations are good, but he’s had great writers tell enough great stories with him to make him iconic. If someone at 343 really cares about Locke enough, they can make him great because he has all the tools necessary to be great.
hyperius says in game that he "stripped that spartan of his armor and sent him crawling back to infinity as a message" so he is alive just not a spartan anymore
Crazy Locke theory Locke joined the banished once Atriox proved he could beat Cortana. Never trusting the UNSC, He saw that the Banished could actually get things done. He helped Atriox survive Cortana. The 3 (Chief, Locke, Atriox) will work together against the Endless.
You know I'm kinda wondering the same thing in a way...I'm wondering when atriox brings the endless back will they betray him and then atriox ends up fighting the endless with chief. Would certainly be an interesting turn of events.
Personally, I don’t mind the blunt/bold character of Spartan Locke. To me, not every character has to be charismatic or invigorating as Sgt. Johnson. He was his own character through the original trilogy, similar to how Sgt. Forge is his own in Halo Wars, and even Palmer in Halo 4. Yes some characters are rough around the edges, but they’re not that terrible. I’ve seen some terribly written characters throughout different media’s, but for Locke to be taken out so soon is saddening to me.
This is 343 we're talking about. If a new character isn't popular they are almost immediately killed off. Didact is killed off in a comic book, AI uprising storyline cut and revived Cortana is killed off screen immediately after, etc.
Locke was a ODST Squad Leader The armor could have been another Spartan because some of them have the same type of armor. Now was Locke's name on the helmet, if not this was probably another Spartan with the same type of armor as Locke.

You want a crazy theory about Halo? The games are following some sort of formula loosely based sci fi horror pattern with their games. I'll try to make this short and easy to follow... Anyways, Halo CE, Aliens, typical alien invasion story. Halo 2 and 3, zombies aka The Flood. Halo 4, the living repurchased into killing machines. Halo 5, AI turning Skynet on us. And now Infinite has pretty much the only category left in the sci fi horror realm, one of the main ones in my opinion, and thats the demonic/spiritual... or as I think we heard in the game, The Endless. I think we are about to face an enemy with an almost omniscient type of power

She actually kind of does lol. She is still very highly regarded by ONI and commands respect from well known military figures despite being viewed widely as a war criminal. Most Spartan-lls would be more likely to follow Halseys commands than they would any UNSC admirals(if opposing orders came through, But thats unlikely as Halseys word is very highly regarded as a Chief Scientist.)
It has potential to be cool if it goes the route of marvels civil war event. Some Spartans choosing oni, some choosing Halsey. I can believe it because she is such a mother figure to many of the Spartans, including Ai
@@Ghastly_Grinner I believe that in the halo world the civilians and general public have not found out about the shady origins of Oni. Did they reveal that to the public in the books / comics? To me that would be the event that is the catalyst for many Spartans having to choose between Halsey and Oni. There would be 2 conflicting missions and causes that one would have to choose to believe in and fight for. Could still happen I think.
personally i believe we may not get an answer and have to come to speculation that Locke, Palmer and the others are dead. Considering how Infinite was a weird way of basically ending the whole universe 343 made. (since they did such a horrible story telling job and probably are trying to play hot potato with the franchise) You also have Brutes and elites being titled as Spartan killers… cant exactly have such a title if your only picking on the weak spartans imo. Plus in halo 2 we know brutes tend to fight over armor just to wear it and we can confirm in Infinite that they interrogate spartans to death. Plus Atriox’s home planet was shown to be completely destroyed by Cortana… i dont think he’s gonna show much mercy to letting spartans run freely, especially since the actions of 1 spartan and AI lead to the destruction of his home.

Dude you should really think about responding this video, it's got a LOT of babbling and you have Keep saying "but again" and "of course". I think the campaign needs more than just the teddies and a pilot and ai........ I think locke should be playable again but not for over half the game..... Thinking about it, cheaf can't hold more than a game on his own.... take arbiter out of halo 2 and 3 and the whole story is just wooden and heartless..... We definitely don't need another story centered on a AI having emotional brake downs all the time..... Cheaf needs better characters to allowe his subpar character to work.
Lock felt forced down our throats as a replacement of Master Chief let a lone the terrible fight he had with the Chief and actually go hits in on him. Chief been training since a child. He's basically Captain American x 2 with Robocop like armor. But you get Spartan Locke who is basically a rookie Spartan going up against a veteran of war and unbeatable odds. Locke and Osiris team would be great as a stand alone game like ODST and Noble was from Reach but to throw some guy as the lead character in a main Halo game revolving around Master Chief as to take his place was a stupid idea. They seen what happened in Halo 2 with the Arbiter. Now they can redeem themselves by making him a co op character for the Chief or just giving him his own game. It just felt like they tried to go woke on us and was going to put him over just because he's black with no accolades for him to compare to the Chief. Locke didn't even behave anything like himself from Halo night fall. In Halo 5 he came off as over confident and as if he was trying to proof he was better than Chief but in the TV series he didn't behave that way. He actually seemed pretty cool. Then they watered down the elites in that show because why would a simple move of jumping on an Elite neck would be a weakness for an Alien that can kill a Spartan? Locke was a normal human at that time and killed him with ease.
Anybody can get hit Duffus and in the video you can clearly see that hit did nothing but crack his helmet and made chief deliver a lesson in coming for the king lol

I personally hope Locke returns and Chief gets to fight alongside him for a mission or two. Maybe the two of them work together to rescue Osiris or other UNSC forces, and Locke and Chief fill each other in on what happened since the Banished attack.

Locke could've been 'defeated', just like Master Chief was, but still alive. Then he is shown breaking out of banished captivity or something along those lines. Like the stories I hope we see in future DLCs for the other SPARTANs shown in Infinite, those could be in Zeta Halo, show how they were defeated and killed by the Banished. It's a traight line beginning to end. But for Locke, he IS an important character and I wouldn't like to have him sided in Infinite's storyline, his mission could be in another place. I just don't know how it would work on Infinite's structure tho.
I believe 343 is doing all this to bring interest back into Locke. Some are just gonna hate him so much for Halo 5 that they won't care. Others are wondering where he is or just think it's wrong that he's just gone like that. I think he'll play a bigger role. Rescue mission of sorts. A sort of redemption story.

I agree with your conclusion! He's alive probably building up a resistens with Dr.Halsey and other spartans on Z-Halo. I need to see a massive battle with tons of Spartans over a battlefield just dismantling Banished soldiers with a retrofitted/repaired Infinity above them just mowing down whatever the Spartans don't pick off! Think captain America final fight against Thanos and his army in avengers endgame, that scene give me chills it's so good!!! MAKE THIS HAPPEN 343 That would be EPIC!
The radio grunt confirms it is indeed Locke's helmet on Hyperius' shoulder. So he's most likely been captured or killed. Given that a "Spartan Killer" is wearing his helmet as a trophy I'd say it doesn't look good for him. This could be 343's way of saying "we won't do that again". Though they've probably left it ambiguous in case there's a fan backlash so they can bring him back if need be

Crazy Theory In Halo Devine Wind towards the end it talks about how Cutter and the Spirit of Fire is going to attempt opening a portal from the Ark back to the rest of the galaxy. I think that Cutter is able to do that and able to get another slipspace drive for the Spirit of Fire. I think the portal from the Ark takes them to Reach where Locke and Osiris excluding Buck since Buck is with Alpha Nine and rescues Locke and Osiris. I think DLC 1 will have an opening cut scene where Locke and Cutter are talking on the bridge overlooking Zeta Halo before Osiris and Red Ream deploy down to the surface of the ring to provide backup to what remains of the UNSC Infinity. It would be a great way to bring in Cutter, Red Team and the Spirit of Fire into a mainline Halo game.
This is assuming that Locke is the only spartan IV with that specific helmet. Also, it could be just has possible that Tovarus was on board on the Infinity during the boarding, found the spartan IV equipment facility, found 1 of the spare Locke helmet and took it.
Cool too me because, I think Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris would work very well together because with 8 spartan top warriors working together loads of Banished and other covenant remnants forces will never stand a chance against these 8 great warrior heroes all the way oorah.

Let's be honest. If they only shown us glimpses of what happened to cortanna in cutscenes then Locke can die offscreen too. Cortana is much bigger and much more important than Locke ever was and will be. I wouldnt say cortana died. They literally rebooted her character to shove off the TERRIBLE writing of Halo 5. If anything died this game it was Halo 5 Stories relevancy to the future of the Halo Franchise.
Locke was hated because people saw that he would be the eventual replacement for The Chief, and they all went guarded about it. Lots of stories are killed by the idolisation of characters.
We need a game set between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite. HUGE story that just got glossed over. AI war, Arbiter and chief reuniting, Spartan Locke working with chief, chief hunting down and destroying Cortana. Man we could’ve had a great game there!

Now there’s always instances of not enough care given to games or characters but let’s not act like it was a purposeful decision. 343 doesn’t do the best storytelling. They’re no naughty dog. The character had all the right tools, he just needed to be out in better hands. To say he can’t be great is like writing off Thor after his first movie, hell first TWO movies. Then we got ragnarok and someone finally knew how to use him best. It’s all about whose hands that character is in. Any character can be good or bad depending on who is in charge. Not all Batman iterations are good, but he’s had great writers tell enough great stories with him to make him iconic. If someone at 343 really cares about Locke enough, they can make him great because he has all the tools necessary to be great.
hyperius says in game that he "stripped that spartan of his armor and sent him crawling back to infinity as a message" so he is alive just not a spartan anymore

Locke joined the banished once Atriox proved he could beat Cortana. Never trusting the UNSC, He saw that the Banished could actually get things done. He helped Atriox survive Cortana. The 3 (Chief, Locke, Atriox) will work together against the Endless.
You know I'm kinda wondering the same thing in a way...I'm wondering when atriox brings the endless back will they betray him and then atriox ends up fighting the endless with chief. Would certainly be an interesting turn of events.
But really, the only other character I'd like to play with/as in Halo infinite is the Arbiter.
Personally, I don’t mind the blunt/bold character of Spartan Locke. To me, not every character has to be charismatic or invigorating as Sgt. Johnson. He was his own character through the original trilogy, similar to how Sgt. Forge is his own in Halo Wars, and even Palmer in Halo 4. Yes some characters are rough around the edges, but they’re not that terrible. I’ve seen some terribly written characters throughout different media’s, but for Locke to be taken out so soon is saddening to me.
This is 343 we're talking about. If a new character isn't popular they are almost immediately killed off. Didact is killed off in a comic book, AI uprising storyline cut and revived Cortana is killed off screen immediately after, etc.
Locke was a ODST Squad Leader The armor could have been another Spartan because some of them have the same type of armor. Now was Locke's name on the helmet, if not this was probably another Spartan with the same type of armor as Locke.
I suspect that a lot of the missing pieces in Halo Infinite's campaign will be DLC missions comparable to Spartan Ops
2/3 of the campaign was cut, so i presume all of it will be DLC!

Anyways, Halo CE, Aliens, typical alien invasion story. Halo 2 and 3, zombies aka The Flood. Halo 4, the living repurchased into killing machines. Halo 5, AI turning Skynet on us. And now Infinite has pretty much the only category left in the sci fi horror realm, one of the main ones in my opinion, and thats the demonic/spiritual... or as I think we heard in the game, The Endless. She actually kind of does lol. She is still very highly regarded by ONI and commands respect from well known military figures despite being viewed widely as a war criminal. Most Spartan-lls would be more likely to follow Halseys commands than they would any UNSC admirals(if opposing orders came through, But thats unlikely as Halseys word is very highly regarded as a Chief Scientist.)

To me that would be the event that is the catalyst for many Spartans having to choose between Halsey and Oni. personally i believe we may not get an answer and have to come to speculation that Locke, Palmer and the others are dead. Considering how Infinite was a weird way of basically ending the whole universe 343 made. (since they did such a horrible story telling job and probably are trying to play hot potato with the franchise) You also have Brutes and elites being titled as Spartan killers… cant exactly have such a title if your only picking on the weak spartans imo. Plus in halo 2 we know brutes tend to fight over armor just to wear it and we can confirm in Infinite that they interrogate spartans to death.
Plus Atriox’s home planet was shown to be completely destroyed by Cortana… i dont think he’s gonna show much mercy to letting spartans run freely, especially since the actions of 1 spartan and AI lead to the destruction of his home.

Lock felt forced down our throats as a replacement of Master Chief let a lone the terrible fight he had with the Chief and actually go hits in on him. Chief been training since a child. He's basically Captain American x 2 with Robocop like armor. But you get Spartan Locke who is basically a rookie Spartan going up against a veteran of war and unbeatable odds. Locke and Osiris team would be great as a stand alone game like ODST and Noble was from Reach but to throw some guy as the lead character in a main Halo game revolving around Master Chief as to take his place was a stupid idea. They seen what happened in Halo 2 with the Arbiter. Now they can redeem themselves by making him a co op character for the Chief or just giving him his own game. It just felt like they tried to go woke on us and was going to put him over just because he's black with no accolades for him to compare to the Chief. Locke didn't even behave anything like himself from Halo night fall. In Halo 5 he came off as over confident and as if he was trying to proof he was better than Chief but in the TV series he didn't behave that way. He actually seemed pretty cool. Then they watered down the elites in that show because why would a simple move of jumping on an Elite neck would be a weakness for an Alien that can kill a Spartan? Locke was a normal human at that time and killed him with ease.

Then he is shown breaking out of banished captivity or something along those lines.
Like the stories I hope we see in future DLCs for the other SPARTANs shown in Infinite, those could be in Zeta Halo, show how they were defeated and killed by the Banished. It's a traight line beginning to end. But for Locke, he IS an important character and I wouldn't like to have him sided in Infinite's storyline, his mission could be in another place. I just don't know how it would work on Infinite's structure tho.
I believe 343 is doing all this to bring interest back into Locke. Some are just gonna hate him so much for Halo 5 that they won't care. Others are wondering where he is or just think it's wrong that he's just gone like that. I think he'll play a bigger role. Rescue mission of sorts. A sort of redemption story.

Let's be honest a good chunk of the halo community hates Spartan Locke because he was advertised as being an equal to Spartan John 117. Overall his background is not that dissimilar from most distinguished special forces operatives. He is level headed, mission oriented, driven, tactically minded and professional. Something the halo community wanted the 4's to be ever since spartan ops. Their overall disposition towards the 4's in general is because they remind them to much of themselves in many ways. But what they forget is that their humanity is exactly what Rear Admiral Musa 096 wanted for his program. Hell I bet most of the halo community wouldn't even make the cut for the program if they were in the halo universe; as unlike the previous 2 programs - genetics and age are not a requirement for entry but rather exceptional skills and qualities. In order to have a chance of making the cut you would need to have extensive combat experience and skill in your given occupational field in comparison to others in your field.

In Halo Devine Wind towards the end it talks about how Cutter and the Spirit of Fire is going to attempt opening a portal from the Ark back to the rest of the galaxy. I think that Cutter is able to do that and able to get another slipspace drive for the Spirit of Fire. I think the portal from the Ark takes them to Reach where Locke and Osiris excluding Buck since Buck is with Alpha Nine and rescues Locke and Osiris. I think DLC 1 will have an opening cut scene where Locke and Cutter are talking on the bridge overlooking Zeta Halo before Osiris and Red Ream deploy down to the surface of the ring to provide backup to what remains of the UNSC Infinity. It would be a great way to bring in Cutter, Red Team and the Spirit of Fire into a mainline Halo game.
This is assuming that Locke is the only spartan IV with that specific helmet. Also, it could be just has possible that Tovarus was on board on the Infinity during the boarding, found the spartan IV equipment facility, found 1 of the spare Locke helmet and took it.

I wouldnt say cortana died. They literally rebooted her character to shove off the TERRIBLE writing of Halo 5. If anything died this game it was Halo 5 Stories relevancy to the future of the Halo Franchise.
Locke was hated because people saw that he would be the eventual replacement for The Chief, and they all went guarded about it. Lots of stories are killed by the idolisation of characters.
