    Making my first California king size blanket with this pattern and I'm in LOVE with the way it's turning out! 12 spools of yarn in, 1/4th of the way done and it's worth every penny!

    Hi. I've been planning this project for a while, and finally did it. In doing the edging around, I wish we could have seen the very ending of the blanket, the edging following the peaks. It is a beautiful blanket. Thank you for sharing. My daughter will love this.

      That’s how Mom taught me to crochet. My SIL uses overhand grip, which I found myself switching to for a Tunisian stitch medieval hood for my son, in order to hold the yarn of the previous loop steady on hook while pulling up the next loop of forward pass. For everything else, pencil grip!

    Love your color choices. Reminds me of what they call "Primitive" style. I love learning new tricks as with moving the yarns up. Very great tip. I wonder how chunky yarn would work? Love the design but a bit too airy for my liking. I guess one could line it with pre-washed flannel or pre-washed Kona. Excellent direction. Thx.

    I have seen and loved this pattern for awhile. So glad to have it. I am doing it as an afghan with my leftover yarn and not worrying where it needs to change mostly in the shells. Don't understand what you meant by shoring up or something about the chains as I didn't see you do anything when you said it when chaining 5. Thanks again

    • @tamarairene
      @tamarairene 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for the demo video...Please could you tell why do you crochet in one loop only?.

    • @HRHDMKYT
      @HRHDMKYT 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When crocheting into the "hump" of the initial chain, your edge looks like a braid and therefore gives an afghan a much more 'finished'/polished look. When crocheting in the body of a blanket, crocheting into only one loop adds an extra dimension to the design by adding a 'ridge' to the design. Crocheting into both loops of a stitch gives the pattern a more smooth appearance. (This explanation would be more easily seen on a simple chevron design crocheted afghan). It's really a design element. If you like, you can try to crochet two different swatches in a particular pattern to see which you prefer: crochet the first one into one loop only, and crochet the second swatch into both loops, and see what you prefer for your project.

    • @tamarairene
      @tamarairene 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As long as you use a yarn that is the same weight/thickness, you shouldn't need to make any adjustments. If you want to use a thicker yarn, you'll need to start with fewer chains to make the blanket size you want, and if you use a thinner yarn, you'll need to start with more chains. :)

I was trying to follow the video to do the swatch you did before going full force for the blanket but in the first row I was left with 4 stitches left, with only just 2 shells..I don’t know what happened, I chained 26 like you did, and followed the video, so what did I do wrong? I frogged it 3 times already and it ends the same, I had to undo the slip stitch and add 4 more chains to complete row 1. Please someone help, maybe there was something I missed or I did wrong?

    I'm making this in the baby blanket size and it says chain 138. Is that 138 PLUS 2 more chains or just 138?? Also I'm using the Red Heart Super Saver yarn and a letter I hook. Is that brand yarn and size hook OK for this pattern?

    I wonder how this would look with a self striping yarn, like the LionBrand Mandala... I always worry where the color changes will fall with the self striping yarns...

      Absolutely, a scarf is just a narrow blanket! There are also patterns for a hat and cowl using this stich on my channel!
