i have crocheted for over 50 years and i have to say this pattern ROCKS! when i finish the blanket i am making now for a child, this gets put on my to-do list. i was lazy so i just used a single color so i went straight from one row to another. even then the textured effect of the mosaic stands out like a beacon. i tried it your way and i also did several rows where you put double crochets in double crochets. they both look pretty. we should start a fan club for you, we can call it the "Knot Heads"
In your video you speak so clearly and at a comfortable pace for teaching. I'm in my 70's and don't grasp new information quickly any more, but this is an excellent tutorial. I appreciate it very much. This interlocking stitch looks rather complicated, but with your demo and explanation, I am confident to try it for my next project, thanks to your "5-star" video.
Nope! Don't cut the yarn if you are striping, unless you want a gazillion ends to weave in. Just carry it gently up the edge, and when you are finished, do some sort of edging to enclose the carry-ups 💮
You gave the best detailed video! I am definitely going to try making it. I absolutely loved the pattern and your choices of color. Best Crocheing instructions ever!
This is so pretty and I love how the colors are showing. Thanks for taking the time to explain all of the steps - very helpful! Take care. Kris K from Connecticut 🌻🧶🙂
Just goes to show you that sometimes it's not the yarn by itself, but how it blends with other yarns. I would never have thought the multicolor would mix nicely with the white and yellow (II probably would never have bought it in the first place) but how gorgeous it turned out! Guess I have to broaden my horizons....
You really know how to "sell" this pattern. You speak of it so nicely and your voice is so soothing that you got me hooked, literally and metaphorically. I need to make a blanket like this and very soon! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us this beautiful pattern!!
The Foundation Single Crochet tutorial is a separate video: th-cam.com/video/evdyXxlg5EE/w-d-xo.html AND! I do state in the video that is doesn't matter how many stitches you use, it can be an odd number, or an even number as long as you follow the way to start and end a row.
Just found this beautiful pattern and your instructions are very easy to follow. But could you tell me the multiplies for this? I’d like to make it bigger. Thank you.
I state in the video that it can be any number, it can odd, or even, no multiples. Just start with a foundation chain the length you want and GO ❣️ If you are doubtful, I challenges you t o do something small like a washcloth or potholder size to test me out 😉
That's going to be so beautiful. I really love these colors. I'm definitely going to make a blanket using these same exact pattern here. Once I'm done with the 4 I'm already making... I knew I should have hidden the first one. From fam & friends 🤔😁

What is the multiple for this pattern? I went to the pattern on ravelry, but it doesn't state the multiples. I want to make a larger project with your pattern. Thanks.
That's a lovely pattern! Very nice. And the video was well made in general. Might I suggest that, in future, you use a larger hook and yarn for the demonstration, as it would make it easier for viewers to see the details of the work. I, myself, prefer to do my work with smaller hooks and finer yarn. But to be sure one can see what you're doing, a larger hook and thicker yarn would help. Otherwise, it is good that you use light colored yarn and that you skip over the repetitions.
Thank you for your comments Margie. If you watch some of my other tutorials, you will see that for some projects I do indeed use larger hook and larger yarn.
My dear this is first time I saw crochet knit mix yarn sooo beautiful and very good for tutrorl is this yarn is 4 ply or thinner which looks amazing thank you for sharing your experience best regards from UK 🇬🇧

Great tutorial and I find it funny that you crochet the exact same way I do except I'm a leftie! So I am the mirror image of you. Just found that cool. Always wanted to try this but was confusing. Thanks for demystifying this for me.

Well, you can make whatever adjustments get you the result that you are looking for. If you start with a DC, then the last row also should be DC so that the proportions are even. So I say, give it a try! The worse thing that will happen is that you wont like it, and you'll frog it out!
Not sure if this is answered in the comments below, did not take the time to read all of them, sorry. What brand of cotton yarn do you use? I really want to find a nice one, but the only thing available near me is the peaches and cream or sugar and cream. I have a fear of ordering online because I can not feel it, but if I know someone recommends it..... My first grand baby due this summer and would like to make this. Thank you in advance for any help.
You are so right! Peaches and cream is not suitable for any thing except pot holders. Sadly I cannot tell you what yarn I used for that as it was old stash with no label. BUT if you are thinking of making a cotton blanket with this pattern I would recommend visiting a local yarn shop. They are going to have much nicer cottons to choose from that are worthy or the time and effort for this special project. Bamboo is another fiber that I would recommend for a baby blanket.
How would you go about decreasing/increasing a row? I would love to use this stitch for a pattern I have for hand warmers, but the pattern calls for double crocheting 2 together to decrease, and to do 2 DC in one stitch to increase.
i have crocheted for over 50 years and i have to say this pattern ROCKS! when i finish the blanket i am making now for a child, this gets put on my to-do list. i was lazy so i just used a single color so i went straight from one row to another. even then the textured effect of the mosaic stands out like a beacon. i tried it your way and i also did several rows where you put double crochets in double crochets. they both look pretty. we should start a fan club for you, we can call it the "Knot Heads"

This is gorgeous! A perfect bodice for a toddler dress.
OH!!!! That would be SO pretty! And it would stretch and move on the body so well! 👗
6 years later and it's still a super-cool video! Thanks so much!
Glad you liked it!
You make it look so easy, but I can see I will need to watch this again while I am actually doing the stitch to get it right -- thanks for showing us!
You can do it!
thank you very much for this video, i m not sure if i understood , if we never cut yarn?

You are so welcome!
I've used this stitch to make multiple baby blankets, it's my go-to pattern, I love it!. Thank you!!
Looks like you have a lot of great videos. Can't wait to check out all of them for the sampler bright afghan I'm planning out.
What a fun project! I hope it turned out beautiful!

I love the way you explain this stitch. Can this be worked up using a chunky yarn for making a throw/blanket?
Yes, absolutely
You really know how to "sell" this pattern. You speak of it so nicely and your voice is so soothing that you got me hooked, literally and metaphorically. I need to make a blanket like this and very soon! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us this beautiful pattern!!
I agree, tho she didnt tell us how to do the foundation row, or how many. It would really help, she's so Fab.
@@cyntrikdeballadqween9417 it's a dishcloth....make as many single crochets to the length you like...maybe 30...
@@those_eyes Thank you. I was thinking perhaps a multiple of 2? Stella
The Foundation Single Crochet tutorial is a separate video: th-cam.com/video/evdyXxlg5EE/w-d-xo.html
AND! I do state in the video that is doesn't matter how many stitches you use, it can be an odd number, or an even number as long as you follow the way to start and end a row.
This example is a dish cloth, but it also makes a great scarf, or blanket. I've also done a sweater with this stitch :)
One day im gonna use this...
Save money to buy yarn.. gonna make daughter pink dress with this pattern..thank you!!
Cotton would crochet up to be a lovely fabric for a dress, and cotton crochet thread is not expensive :) It'd be perfect!
I just love this stitch, and I was able to make an item using this method with your great instructions! Thank you!
Yay!
Beautiful combination of colors!!

I will like to make a throw but don’t know how many stitches to make
Since this is a potholder I'm not sure I'd recommend that for a throw.
I love it. Actually, I've just finish a neckwarmer following your instructions. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. Greetings from Spain!

I would love to use this stitch for a pattern I have for hand warmers, but the pattern calls for double crocheting 2 together to decrease, and to do 2 DC in one stitch to increase.
You could end a row short.
Or you could work the first or last 2 stitches in the row together. Test a sample and see how it goes!
