Great video! I remember building the original mt and man oh man was that truck an absolute beast! This looks pretty darn good as well. Excited to see how it holds up.
Tekno make good parts. I use a Tekno pinion in my Kagama, because of the nice flat grub screw. That looks like a high quality kit, and the paint job is impressive.
Absolutely. They definitely make some good stuff. Unfortunately that paint job looked good but didn't last. I don't know why but at all ended up flaking off.
Thanks man. Now I feel the need to get a Tekno. I built an SMT10 for a body that I had and loved. Doesn't look any harder than that, and no building tiny 120mm shocks. I'll buy it and shelve it. I have a Vanquish VRD Carbon coming tomorrow. Crawling. Lame, but trends brother, trends.
Yeah it's not a hard kit to build at all. There are a couple of small parts but for the most part it's really easy and the fact that everything fits perfectly is definitely helpful
@RC4us I don't really have a lot of options here but it seems like most 110th scale crawler bodies will work as long as the rear isn't too high up in the air.
Looks good! I bought the same body and have some badlands on it as well! Cant wait to run it for the first time tomorrow! Side note: Music kills the video. A little bit is fine or maybe just slightly in the backround, but hearing the car raw is best 👌
Personally I agree but the statistics tell a different story. I used to bash without music all the time and retention would drop dramatically during that period. Since I started making the bashing parts shorter and adding the music that stopped happening so most people seem to enjoy this format better.
Hey DoRC, great video but 4:24 is not correct! The Hindepinholder are made of hybrid material, Its steel inside. You can see it clearly on part TKR9561 And at 12:44 it seems to be the bearing from the rear diff to center diff diffout came out ?
Thanks for the correction! Yes the bearing was coming out. I didn't give the threadlock enough time to cure on the input cup and it came loose. Showbiz...
Thanks that's super helpful! The Tekno MT410 2.0 kit is actually $440, but that's still under $700. I have a max6 combo for my kraton exb and it's great, but I don't have experience with their cheaper motors. Hopefully it's good or at least ok, haha thanks!
It is but you can often get coupons from various places that sell them and get that price down to around $400. The cheaper hobby wing motors are great. I've got a review of the 10 BL 120 G2 combo. Check it out.
Oops sorry. For some reason my brain was thinking the VXL-3s. I just checked with my VXL 4S and no unfortunately it doesn't look like it will fit. Unfortunately it looks like it would hit the center drive shaft.
You can do it a little cheaper than that. The it is going to run you about $400. You can get a set of tires off something like a big rock for 45. Then you can pick up a 10 BL 120 combo for $80, grab one of the new spectrum servos off Jenny's from the new EXB for 30, 35 bucks for a cheap radio system then maybe grab an arm of granite body for 35 bucks. You'll have to drill new holes in it but it would work. I would get you in at about $600. Unless you already have some stuff on hand I think it's about as cheap as you can expect
Here it is, the video you mentioned. I wasn't subbed 8 months ago. :p A basher kit, that's nice! I always prefer to build my RCs, and a basher is still on my "to buy" list. The price tag on this is kinda high, so I'll have to pass. But I'll find something. Thanks!
Unfortunately most kits are going to be expensive just because you still have to buy a lot of parts to go along with the kit. I think Traxxas still sells a slash kit which is fairly reasonable. In general though it is going to be more expensive to build than it is to buy RTR.
Great video--can't wait to see it on 4s. You previously turned an 8ight XE into a basher with Badland 2.8 tires. I'm debating going with the MT410 2.0 and a 1/8 E-buggy with Badland 2.8s or similar. What do you prefer for racing around on grass? I'm looking for speed and handling, won't be jumping. Thanks!
So far I'm pretty happy with it. It's very well mannered and predictable though at this time I'm not quite sure it's worth twice what a granite costs :-) as mine sits with battery it weighs 8 lb 12 oz.
Me too but the granite I stride for , a race granite with precision, one thing I regret going with arrma over kits is the slop and precision, kits are far better always have been , just arrma traxxas make it easy.
I used grease on them. It's still a pain but it does make it easier. I really did want to paint the bed and wheel arches a different color but not quite as much as I didn't want to have to deal with masking things off and painting multiple colors :-) I've done fancy bodies in the past but my stuff gets torn up so quickly that it's hard to justify
@@django2467 I expect to see an MT48 before too long. They pretty much have all the parts already for it They would just need to do bumpers and body mounts really.
Just for the fact of building it and how good i've heard Tekno's are I would love one of these but i don't think the parts support is very good in the UK :(
Loos Like a quality rig as can be expected from Tekno. I was thinking if you put the Tamiya ps55 matte clear on the outside of the body it may ive you more of that dessert tan look you were going for by flattening out the gold a bit.
Yeah the color actually looked better before I peeled the outer protective plastic off. I'm still pretty happy with it though and it's just going to get the crap beaten out of it anyway so I'm not too worried about it.
I don't think you'll have too long to wait before we see an MT-48 2.0. They basically already have everything we need for it. Really the most unfortunate part about this truck is the fact that it's named the way it is. The problem is the original MT-410 was kind of inappropriately named. This truck is actually the right size for the 410 line. The original truck should have been named the MT-48.
Ya but look how big some 10 th scales are back than you had the proline mt and techno competition and look how big the maxx is . I listened to one of the axial guys about the scale and how unrealistic it is in dimensions. He basically said it’s more for convenience with size reference for parts and even though we say we want it to be exact dimensions to the full size it’s just not practical 😂 sorry I’m sure you would explain it better , your good at that , why I watchv😂
The larger diameter shafts definitely are a benefit but keep in mind that for a given motor size KV does not affect the ultimate power of the motor. Certain KVs will be more or less efficient at various voltages but the motor itself is not more powerful.
@@IsaacSchultz-lz8jc why would the bearings last longer? The motor is going to be spinning faster so I would think there'd be more wear on the bearings.
The old MT410 kit could be had for low 300s with coupons. 2.0 looks good for what it is, but I think it falls well short of 1.0 in terms of value and performance.
Yeah but that's when they were discontinuing it. When it was at its normal price it was fairly comparable to this. That being said I do agree that you got more for your money with it. However prices have gone up on everything so it's kind of hard to compare the two
That’s a BEAUTIFUL RC. But to me this is a buggy, not a Monster. Wayyyyyy too low chassis and short suspension travel… I’m disappointed cause it’s such a mechanical beauty. And it’s a kit !!! Yeah what things are named is pretty variable in this hobby. It's especially variable with something like this where it doesn't even come with tires in a body out of the box. At least when a truck has big tires and a tall body it looks like a monster truck but this thing could look like whatever you want it to. Really the only difference between a buggy and a monster truck is a wing a body and some tires :-)
What you get in that kit for 440$ is ridiculous. Regardless of how good it is. When your done probably 800$ bucks. No thanks. Not for a 10th scale basher.
It's definitely a lot of money and certainly not the best value for a 1/10 scale basher but I don't think that's really the niche it's trying to fill. It's a premium product and it's priced like a premium product.
Correction the differentials are the same size as the MT410 differentials.
Long term 😂 you go through so many rcs to see that .
So it’s not a downgrade if the diffs are the same by no means
I enjoy the granite a lot and this is relatively same size with with more precision I’d probably really enjoy this truck 🛻
Well the differentials are the same but a lot of other things are smaller including the car itself.
Yeah this is like a super premium granite. As long as you can swallow the $700 price tag it's definitely worth a look.
