I personally prefer the Ouroboros version of the Chaos Insurgency. Where rather than serving the engine, they instead defected from the foundation after a series of unethical tests were done as well as the creation of living weapons by the foundation. Instead their goal is simply to remove the 05 from power and terminate the scp foundation
The question of course is “then what”, the engine is pretty boring as motivations go, but atleast it has a clear goal, prevent social entropy. Whereas “kill foundation cause they are bad” is IMO much less interesting and has less for me as an author to work with
My interpretation of the Engine is less god of chaotic evil and more the driving force that snapped the original Chaos Insurgency out of their Foundation brain washing. Now free, the Insurgency takes revenge on the Foundation. Well that's early day stuff, from there I imagine it grows and changes like most organizations tend to do.

For example: SCP 682: If the GOC got their hands on it, they would use nukes, before subsequently realizing they made the lizard basically resistant to all physical damage because of the destructive threshold it just learned how to defend against. Its unstoppable rampage would sooner or later cause humanity to be destroyed. There;s also the wooden chair SCP (forgot the number): It WAS destroyed by the GOC, but the wood chips were sentient and could teleport anywhere. The ensuing massacre and escape killed ALOT of GOC scientists and operatives. If the wood chips ever viewed humanity itself as a threat it could easily lead to the deaths of MILLIONS or BILLIONS of people before its stopped, due to its unending ability to teleport within peoples lungs, the shear number of wood chips, and the speed at which it can teleport. If even a single chip was left to its own devises it would still be able to slowly annihilate humanity through continuous assassination of important figures.

There are a lot of Groups of Interests (GoI). These 4 are just the most common. They are all worth having a look at and have SCPs related to them/involving them so I recommend reacting to them. The Sarcics - The rival of The Church of the Broken God, with beliefs about being able to reach Godhood and have multuple fleshy or disease related SCPs. Marshal, Carter and Dark - Anomaly merchants for the rich, who will deal with anyone for an price in their favor. Are We Cool Yet? - Artist who make anomalous art (anart) which are often lethal. Dr Wondertainment - A toy maker who makes you question whether these SCPs should be anywhere near kids. Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU) - A unit of the FBI who are the laughing stock of the SCP universe. Basically a smaller, underfunded and under trained version of the SCP Foundation. (Personally, I cheer for these underdogs) And more from restaurants to a division from the Soviet Union. To a wildlife agency and even one called Gamers Against Weed.

I honestly got around the SCP universe a few days before you, and it's extremely addictive. It's like one of those book universes, but shrouded in so much mystery and information, it's just so intriguing to dive into these stories.
If I remember the lure correctly, the four groups were created by the four founders which were brothers, one wants to contain the SCPs and keep them hidden from the public eye, one wants to destroy the SCPs, one wants the SCPs to be known to the public eye while the last one want to use them as tools of war.

In most big SCP Facilities they have a nuclear warhead for exactly these kinds of events (The mass containments breaches) They detonate it if some hardcore scps are about to exit thw facility for the greater good so the chaos insurgency cant take the win.

There are at leats 10+ groups of interest (organizations/individuals that are related to anomalies) in the Foundation, the nost notable being the Chaos Insurgency, the GOC (Global Occult Coalition), The Serpent's Hand and the Churhc of the Broken God, all of their stories are interesting to understand better the Universe and some SCP's (SCP-5000 for example)
In a nutshell the Chaos Insurgency (also known as the CI) try to breach all the SCPs get the Prisoners (The Class D) to join the CI. And most importantly, cause chaos
Their first video about 5000 was actually their 5th video, the second was the 8th, the third was the 25th, and the 4th was the 26th. I haven’t counted the number of videos between the 4th and the compilation though.
I can explain a lot of the Groups of Interest in a few words. There is MUCH more factions in the SCP universe than you realize. Some of them doea their own thing, others are with, against or neutral towards the Foundation. And some others doesn't even know the Foundation's existance.
The Serpent's hand also want to help the SCP's, They too may cause violence if obstructed or being fired on. They want to destroy the foundation and will sometimes even house the SCP's their selves to keep them safe.
Great video. If you haven't seen it already, you should definitely watch "The Serpent's Hand Explained". I think you might like that one. Plus it explains another group with different beliefs then the SCP.
There are quite a few different groups. Every one of them are very interesting in my opinion. Also, in my opinion I would definitely put the Foundation in true neutral. The GOC would fit lawful neutral/good (neutral in my opinion, but people might disagree). The Serpents Hand as chaotic good/neutral (same as the GOC in the good or neutral department). And The Chaos Insurgency is almost absolutely Chaotic evil (although some interpretations put them at neutral, and maybe even good if you squint hard enough).
The Chaos Insurgency, unlike the Foundation who "store" their SCPs in locked chambers, aim at attempting to utilize the SCPs to their advantage, mainly these SCPs being objects with unique anomalous properties that can be exploited to give the upper hand against others.
The Serpent's Hand is the organization that believes that majority, anomalies deserve equal human rights. The majority, not all of them though. I believe they are alright with SCP-682's death as well as other SCPs that just want to kill and destroy. They are actually very interesting in my opinion. You should react to The Serpent's Hand next or some of the Doctors at the SCP Foundation itself like Doctor Bright or Doctor Clef

The Chaos Insurgency is one of the main groups of the "canon". I know I have said it before, but the Orobouros story deals heavily with the Insurgencys agenda, origin, truth of the engineer and attemt to destroy the foundation. Atleast one popular take on it.
Many SCPs are named after mythological artifacts. Also, watch a video on the SCP-001 idea: The Factory. It talks a lot about the beginning days of the SCP foundation.

You should look into the TH-cam channel Volgun. He goes over multiple SCPs. He even gets different people who go over them as “doctors.”
From what i know CI were the first bad guys and basically cartoon bad guys, different people made attempts at humanizing and giving them backstory many times. Thus making many different stories and motives

In most big SCP Facilities they have a nuclear warhead for exactly these kinds of events (The mass containments breaches) They detonate it if some hardcore scps are about to exit thw facility for the greater good so the chaos insurgency cant take the win.

There is MUCH more factions in the SCP universe than you realize. Some of them doea their own thing, others are with, against or neutral towards the Foundation. And some others doesn't even know the Foundation's existance.

The Serpent's hand also want to help the SCP's, They too may cause violence if obstructed or being fired on. They want to destroy the foundation and will sometimes even house the SCP's their selves to keep them safe.

There are quite a few different groups. Every one of them are very interesting in my opinion.
Also, in my opinion I would definitely put the Foundation in true neutral. The GOC would fit lawful neutral/good (neutral in my opinion, but people might disagree). The Serpents Hand as chaotic good/neutral (same as the GOC in the good or neutral department). And The Chaos Insurgency is almost absolutely Chaotic evil (although some interpretations put them at neutral, and maybe even good if you squint hard enough).
The Chaos Insurgency, unlike the Foundation who "store" their SCPs in locked chambers, aim at attempting to utilize the SCPs to their advantage, mainly these SCPs being objects with unique anomalous properties that can be exploited to give the upper hand against others.
The Serpent's Hand is the organization that believes that majority, anomalies deserve equal human rights. The majority, not all of them though. I believe they are alright with SCP-682's death as well as other SCPs that just want to kill and destroy. They are actually very interesting in my opinion. You should react to The Serpent's Hand next or some of the Doctors at the SCP Foundation itself like Doctor Bright or Doctor Clef
The thing is about these videos, unless you want the briefest overview you need a video of just the one thing, like this video, or go to the wiki and read it directly
The Chaos Insurgency is one of the main groups of the "canon". I know I have said it before, but the Orobouros story deals heavily with the Insurgencys agenda, origin, truth of the engineer and attemt to destroy the foundation. Atleast one popular take on it.
