Looking at SCP 001 when you just started diving in the universe is like learning quantum physics before learning how to measure distances XD Take your time before looking at the complex stuff.
Also that it's products appear randomly in multiple places across the world and even inside the SCP facilities, and that they've been used to contain other SCPs. Also that it pre-dates the Foundation and one the O-5 members flinches and loudly denies it's existence like if he's loosing his mind by only mention it.
SCPs portrayed in this video are actually a lot more complicated than it looks. For example i think that "factory" is even creepier than SCP 4666 (Yule Man) and "When day breaks" has a very special concept. In order to understand why all of these SCPs are on 001 list you would have to read all of them. They are all amazing and a simple youtube video can't explain most of the things regarding these SCPs.
Not really. It's all really up to the people. But it would make more sense that the number 1 spot is for the first ever SCP found. That is how the system is supposed to work, anyway. A new SCP is added as the next number on the list. Doesn't matter how powerful.

It's how the SCPs are documented. They don't skip around numbers, or make something the exact same number as something else entirely.

The thing that you must remember, not every SCP has to be deadly, or scary, there is just as many silly/weird or even harmless SCPs as there are "murder monsters" in fact, i'd heavily recommend looking into this channels video about "yet another murder monster" as that's quite a wonderful SCP who sorta takes a jab at the concept of "every keter class SCP is always the same murder monster blah blah blah."

The SCP foundation does have horror roots, but the base goal of SCP Isn’t necessarily to come up with the scariest thing, so SCP-001 isn’t supposed to be the “scariest” but rather the best contender for the first SCP the foundation catalogued. That’s why there’s so many proposals in this spot for SCPs that can create other SCPs, because it’d make sense for the creator to be the first SCP. My personal favorites are the Gate Guardian and the Scarlet King (the extra dimensional god that is waiting for 231-7 to give birth/die before coming to destroy our dimension).

It's great but it doesn't exactly represent what makes this universe so interesting. To me it's just a horror game with the same few entities hunting you through the facility with you're average jumpscares, it just scratches the surface of what you could do with such a large amount of source material. A real SCP game should be a kind of "entity museum" where you can learn about different SCPs and have a sandbox side where you can do tests on these SCPs while still keeping the horror aspect. To me the SCP Foundation is a huge sandbox of weird or horror story ideas and crazy concepts that even the best writers haven't thought of and Containment Breach doesn't really do justice to that even if it is a classic.
In SCP related stuff, these are the channels that are highly recommended, Infographics show is just....not serious looking at least for me personally. It just doesn't suit SCP's or how to best describe the SCP universe. Some things to note: SCPs aren't only terror stories, they are simply anomalies, sometimes tense, sometimes food for thought, sometimes paradoxes, sometimes actually good SCP has no D, K or N, it's does NOT destroy, kill or neutralize any anomaly that can be left exitisting (depends on the cannon) Each SCP 001 also Sparks one lore, where the foundation is more or less cruel, more or less secret, and there are more or less Groups Of Interest pushing their own agendas

Secondly, the player count does not determine the quality of a game (although it can have some indication). For example Halo 5 no doubt has a higher play count than Halo 3 but that does not mean that it is a better game.

They’re proposed as 001 not due to the scariness but due to the mystery, sheer power, origin and the fact that some are related to the creation and or beginning of the foundation and or early on captures, the original anomaly, ones that could stop an scp and those who creates anomalies. Also the book that could write away scps wasn’t possible they tried only for one to come back and slaughter a bunch of people.
They butchered a lot of these proposals but getting the same video with detailed explanations would be like 10 hours. A lot of these are a LOT cooler than this video makes out.
He needs to watch scp illustrated or The Volgon if he wants good information on these scps. Scp explained isn't the best place to find the really good information. There stuff is the basics to the point of which the scps sound boring.
This is really a crash course as most of these stories have a lot more interesting things to them that they skip since they are just giving a very basic/skeletal summary of these stories.

But as far as my cannonicity goes: SCP-184 created the universe, unkown how or why or what we're actually inside of if anything, every SCP-001 article is meant to make everyone except the O5 unaware of the harsh truth of the universe and life itself, as the universe evolves anomallies appear. I even have an idea of how everything could end in two scenarios after an event that I can't get into here because the story could litteraly be a TV show with about 5 seasons leading to: 1. Humanity ceases to exist or 2. SCP-184 is destroyed, the anomallies cease to exist and no further ones are created.
The ouroboros scp is amazing! (the one which you said went over your head). It is by far the scp with the best storyline! You need to watch it even if you decide it is too long to make a video of it!
I once found a video for a fan theory that there isn't actually a 001, and the O-5 council just made it up to put people at ease. After all, it always makes people feel better when they are able to pin down a beginning, whether it's a first created, first sighted, etc..
Honestly I would say that "When Day Breaks" should be SCP-001 since there is a lot of information, log info and stories about this Anomalous Event and I find it to be very Interesting and creepy

The importance of what 001 is true mostly feeds into the cannon you're constructing/reading into. A series of Tales (scp stories) and/or SCPs might connect back to a particular 001 to help round the construction the cannon's version of the world.
When Luke said write no more SCPs in the Record, that will not work, that would just create a paradox for the record itself is an SCP so if it gets rid of itself, it can’t perform the action of getting rid of itself and other SCP, meaning it shall no long exist. Luke, don’t try to give a solution is paradoxical in itself.
While I wouldn't reccomend reacting to the Ouroboros cycle on the channel since it's so long, it is quite an amazing set of stories connected by sets of ideas. I love listening to it and the characters within the journal are great. Also if you want a good vibe video for a spooky scp, look at @Thevolgun. His production quality is high and he has a large library of great videos. Also you're doing great, love the videos and keep up the good work!
the 001 isn't like "this is the worst one of them all", but it's like "this is the first one we have officially documented and classified as a newly created organization". Luke, remember that scps arent about being scary. Some proposals for scp-001 claim that its 001 cuz it was the first one found, and some proposals claim that its 001 cuz its the most mysterious / most omnipotent. Theyre not there for the 001 spot just because theyre scary or dangerous.
When Day breaks is easily the most disturbing and also is the one that has kept me up at night.The idea that at any point humanity could end by humanity melting and merging in to one is just enough to terrify.The idea you could just go downstairs one morning to the sight of your whole family melted together and dragging you outside to join them is so SCP and freaky that I used the concept for an OC.It really makes you start thinking.

On and yeah there's a whole cathegory of "metanarrative scp's" on the scpwiki... Those are some of the most mindfuck-y, original, and amazing ideas I have ever encountered put to any media...
Already commented once but had another thing to mention. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it's canon to the universe that the wiki where the authors write directly affect the SCP universe. That's why the wiki exists, to try and hinder the readers and authors. There's, canonically, files that supposedly have SCP's within them, placed there to make the reader forget what they read, or outright kill them. It's a really cool way to blur the lines with fiction and reality with the SCP universe
SCP's often go to the horror side but at the core they are supposed to be stories about interesting things that do not have to be scary in any way. One of my favorites that illustrates this is SCP-5031 which you should check out. SCP explained have a great animated video about it.

You should play the official SCP game, it’s called: “SCP: Containment Breach”, it’s really scary and really good. 😉

But as far as my cannonicity goes: SCP-184 created the universe, unkown how or why or what we're actually inside of if anything, every SCP-001 article is meant to make everyone except the O5 unaware of the harsh truth of the universe and life itself, as the universe evolves anomallies appear.
I even have an idea of how everything could end in two scenarios after an event that I can't get into here because the story could litteraly be a TV show with about 5 seasons leading to: 1. Humanity ceases to exist or 2. SCP-184 is destroyed, the anomallies cease to exist and no further ones are created.

The ouroboros scp is amazing! (the one which you said went over your head). It is by far the scp with the best storyline! You need to watch it even if you decide it is too long to make a video of it!
I once found a video for a fan theory that there isn't actually a 001, and the O-5 council just made it up to put people at ease. After all, it always makes people feel better when they are able to pin down a beginning, whether it's a first created, first sighted, etc..

The importance of what 001 is true mostly feeds into the cannon you're constructing/reading into. A series of Tales (scp stories) and/or SCPs might connect back to a particular 001 to help round the construction the cannon's version of the world.

When Luke said write no more SCPs in the Record, that will not work, that would just create a paradox for the record itself is an SCP so if it gets rid of itself, it can’t perform the action of getting rid of itself and other SCP, meaning it shall no long exist. While I wouldn't reccomend reacting to the Ouroboros cycle on the channel since it's so long, it is quite an amazing set of stories connected by sets of ideas. I love listening to it and the characters within the journal are great. Also if you want a good vibe video for a spooky scp, look at @Thevolgun. His production quality is high and he has a large library of great videos. Also you're doing great, love the videos and keep up the good work!

Luke, remember that scps arent about being scary. Some proposals for scp-001 claim that its 001 cuz it was the first one found, and some proposals claim that its 001 cuz its the most mysterious / most omnipotent. Theyre not there for the 001 spot just because theyre scary or dangerous.
When Day breaks is easily the most disturbing and also is the one that has kept me up at night.The idea that at any point humanity could end by humanity melting and merging in to one is just enough to terrify.The idea you could just go downstairs one morning to the sight of your whole family melted together and dragging you outside to join them is so SCP and freaky that I used the concept for an OC.It really makes you start thinking.
That video is kind of like a TLDR of a TLDR of each potential 001, the full articles are really good. Much more interesting than the video makes them out to be

My favorite SCP for 001 is the Gate Guardian, as it includes the founder and has them building the SCP Foundation.

Already commented once but had another thing to mention.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it's canon to the universe that the wiki where the authors write directly affect the SCP universe. That's why the wiki exists, to try and hinder the readers and authors. There's, canonically, files that supposedly have SCP's within them, placed there to make the reader forget what they read, or outright kill them. It's a really cool way to blur the lines with fiction and reality with the SCP universe

SCP's often go to the horror side but at the core they are supposed to be stories about interesting things that do not have to be scary in any way. One of my favorites that illustrates this is SCP-5031 which you should check out. SCP explained have a great animated video about it.
