Their way of containing SCP-106 is to essentially build a series of layered structures around the main containment cell, designed in such a way to make leaving extremely awkward for the Old Man, as he has to physically pass through each wall before moving on to the next. Lead walls, pockets of water, mercury, acid, corridors full of barbed wire, strobe lights, layers of pipes and all manner of things are used to slow him down and disorient him, although he is still impossible to fully contain, hence the Keter classification. It should also be noted that the only thing keeping SCP-106 contained is the amusement he receives from causing mayhem at his containment site; if the Foundation didn't provide so many people to torment, he'd eventually makes his way out and start roaming around. What's worse is that the Old Man is unpredictable, as he might stop after only killing or capturing a handful of people, or he might cause dozens of casualties before finally coming back to his cell to nap while the Foundation cleans up his mess and tries even harder to keep him contained.

The problem with destroying SCPs is that the ones that are violent and malicious enough to need to be destroyed are generally the indestructible ones. The protection part of SCP isn't about protecting the anomalies, it's about protecting the people of the world from crazy monsters. The foundation tends to neutralize the dangerous anomalies that can be neutralized, and avoid any containment breaches of those like the Lizard, the Old Man, or the Shy Guy, who are functionally immortal.
@@CT-Cookie I'd prefer containment breach tbh, I loved it and 106 is my most feared so far in that game. Bloody hell I went in an elevator and he just popped out of nowhere

106 actually has a crazy cell suspended off the ground surrounded by like 20 walls all made out of different materials, each layer filled with different liquids to confuse him when he tries to get out. He's also got floodlights everywhere inside and outside to discourage attempts at escape. He just kinda manages to figure it out every several months or so. Honestly scary as hell.
Did they ever test using -999 on -106? And I’ve wondered, could they use a syringe to extract some of -999s gelatin body and mix it with a bit of saline and inject it into some of the SCPs in an attempt to make them permanently or semi-permanently happy?
Well a keter class isn’t specifically a dangerous scp it’s just hard to contain so if a cat you change bodies with another cat every 1 minute it would be a keter class bc it would basically be impossible to contain but most of the time it’s hard to contain bc it’s. Dangerous
"Why isn't the foundation killing him?" Cause they can't. Most SCPs are literally indestructible. Some are so unique, they can't be destroyed. Such as a Location. If the SCP is a specific location that just appears out of no where and can just vanish and reappear somewhere else, you can't really destroy it. And while there are unique situations, such as SCPs so powerful they can Destroy other SCPs, even that doesn't work on every single SCP as some are just straight up immune to the concept of Damage.
Definitely not even the tip of the iceberg; say uhh.. seeing a single pixel of 096’s face from across the world on a plane and he kills you anyway, coming across an instance of a living bus that transforms into a giant bug to feed captured people to its children, a phone app that summons a dark humanoid with a wolf’s skull to stalk you for life, a literal zombie virus, “when day breaks”, scarlet king, oh I could go on for forever.
I think it's to early for him to react to that. You need some prior knowledge about some SCP's and GoI's for that to really enjoy and understand what's happening.

There are 5 main reasons for not killing an SCP. The SCP could just be straight up invincible, barring the occasional exception of other SCP's being used to destroy "invincible" SCP's, but the foundation don't use destructive SCP's in that way most of the time. Another reason is that they are using the SCP for research purposes for learning about anomalies, however as is evident not all SCP's are easy to use in this way, or even possible to research them. Another reason would be that the SCP simply doesn't pose a threat to anyone or anything as long as it's kept contained, which is what makes up a large portion of the known anomalies. Another reason would be that the anomaly could cause more harm when eliminated than it does when it is contained, which can apply to nearly every anomaly that the foundation doesn't know absolutely everything about, because anomalies by their nature are somewhat unpredictable and random. The final reason that the foundation often uses is that it would be "inhumane" to kill some of the SCP's, even if they do cause harm, though it's sometimes not clear how much the foundation truly believes in this ideal. However there are a few known anomalies which the foundation is actively working to destroy as they pose too much of a threat even while contained, including the notable scp-096 and scp-682, though outside of possibly non-canon stories nothing has been successful to destroy either of them yet. scp-106 is an SCP which as far as the foundation is aware is completely incapable of being killed and even unharmable, meaning they couldn't destroy it even if they wanted too, with the possible exception of using another anomaly to destroy it.
watch these through SCP ilustrated it is very high effort and is a direct transcript from the original article witch in my opinion is most likely the best way to experience it considering that the parts you complimented were direct transcripts
Most of the cases the Foundation don't know how to kill these SCP-s. So they just try to keep them secured and figure it out through the experiments, how to kill them. The contain and protect part of the slogen is about containing the anomalies and protecting humanity from them. Also, I recommend the IKEA one, it is really fun.
SCP: Secure Contain Protect, the SCP foundations job is to Secure unearthly, supernatural and entities, Contain these things in containment cells specially designed for said SCP then there's Protect, it's the Foundations job to Protect the public from the anomalies and not to Protect the anomalies and on that case not all SCPs can be killed such as SCP-096 is considered a NTT Non Yerminatable Target.
there are SCPs that are under the Protection motto of the foundation e.g. the Porcelain Girl and the Cyborg Girl. those two would end up in horrible fate if not for the protection the foundation gives. Porcelain would break and die if unattended properly and cyborg girl would literally be used by "bad" people if she was not secured.
One reason why Protect is so prevalent within the Foundation SCPs is due to many SCPs not being able to be destroyed, they are being protected from misuse from other organizations in the universe. Another reason is what the Gate Guardian commanded the Adminiatrator to do; Prepare.
Yes. It is most about scientific research, and they can't kill it, cuz they dont know how to. Not all SCPs are killable. They use guns cuz idk, it looks cool.
Secure the Dangerous stuff. Contain the Dangerous stuff. Protect Mankind, most of the time the "safety" of the anomalies aren't even a factor, it's just that some anomalies morph when attempted to kill, or just aren't possible yet. The GOC does try to kill basically every SCP, it just so happens that some of the most dangerous ones are created BY THEM as a result.
The reason the SCP foundation doesn’t kill the SCPs because they used to try and kill the SCPs but they ended up just making a more dangerous SCP. I forget the name but it’s an SCP teleporting chair that they tried to destroy and it killed a bunch of people.
The guy who had a vision of an angel, the angel which was one of the candidates for SCP-001, do you remember that? He was told "prepare", not "eliminate". What part of preparation makes you eliminate the shards of tech you need before you can understand (and replicate) or at least utilise it? A grenade that's about to go off is still an explosion that you can use, and if you're a pigmy with a wooden bow, that ability to cause a modern-warfare level of explosion is still very valuable to you, even if it's also very dangerous to you and your whole village.

@@PirateCat822 i mean it's really interesting how it interacts with other scps, like if you put 10 grams of dust weekly in scp-2545, it'll move back three steps. Not really that much of a helpful fact, but it's still interesting.
You've watched a lot of these videos now so I feel the need to say: no video, short film, or anything else beats the experience of reading the entries yourself. The way the information is revealed in the writing and format of the entries is as important as the SCPs themselves. Watching a video about an SCP is only half the experience (though easier).
SCP (Secure, contain, protect) only refers to one of the 3 protocols, securing Shy Guy after a breech, containing The Old Man after his fun, or protecting Cthulhu from the mind altering cults for examples.
To contain it, they usually put it in some sort of box, when SCP-106 is in the box, they lift it, which if I am correct stops allowing SCP 106 to walk through, only when the box has been lowered.
They contain them because some of them are impossible to terminate/neutralize. Usually also because of historical reasons. But most of them is to figure ways to prevent dangerous phenomenons to continue.
If you want to know why they contain these things you should look up SCP 1730. You’ll know why the researchers and foundation workers don’t kill them right away and only just want to contain them. What happened at Site 13 was really gruesome to what they did to those SCPS.
A good example of why the foundation never kills anomalies is site 19, a foundation site that started executing anomalies. Because of the unpredictability of the anomalous, killing an SCP could lead to anything, in site 19s case it stopped existing and became hell on earth. It's safer to contain the already dangerous anomaly than to risk altering it by killing it. The GOC is a similar group to the SCP foundation that's basically the UK equivalent, and they do kill anomalies
I really think you should check out TheVolgun’s SCP videos. They go very in depth about the SCPs and are really good quality. This video of 106 didn’t really go into detail about why he is what he is and his origin, and TheVolgun does go into origins and why SCPs are what they are in his videos assuming the authors provided one.
“Why isn’t the foundation killing him?” This is another answer for what I saw. The foundations main goal is to secure. Contain. And protect not terminate contain protect. This is just for some SCPs but SCPs like the old man and 682 are pretty much indestructible because what we need to kill them probably doesn’t exist. Say we put a very strong SCP like 049 into the clockwork machine in very fine they would have a chance. But that would just lead 049 to be breached. It’s hard to do these termination attempts because of the risks. There would need to be a very strong piece of evidence on how to terminate these SCPs just because of the risk.
Catching him in game is the most horrifying thing to listen to the first time. Whoever did the voice acting really deserves a big check and some awards.
Except I think Jesse Faden would bug the hell out dealing with some of these. Pretty sure the Service Weapon does jackshit, and all the TK in the world won't slow them down. She'd of course get a kick out of 999. Makes you wonder if Polaris was a SCP type deal.
Something a lot of people seem to gloss over is that the foundation also wants to help SCPs one day or at least improve their living conditions within their containment cells. You could think of SCPs like prisoners, some are too dangerous and need to be sentenced to death while others need to be kept locked up until the right time. Keeping with that analogy, the foundation guards are armed as you would be against any highly dangerous prisoner. I’d recommend watching scp 5031 as it paints the foundation in a different light, it shows that they are cold, not cruel.
I highly suggest checking out “The Exploring Series” he does a great job making it feel creepy and does an even better job explaining them. He also reads the reports on breaches and survivors.
The reason why they don’t just kill him is because he is practically invincible, same for many others, and since they can’t kill them, they research them to make them easier to contain. Also the “P” in SCP is means protect the public and normalcy, which they do by securing and containing
Their ultimate goal is to contain the SCP's to protect them from humanity and sometimes to research in order to better us as well. The reason they do not kill them is because with SCP's sometimes jumping into killing them ends up having world ending or catastrophic events (see the wives of the crimson king and thier babies here) and as such.. they HAVE to take everything they do at a slower speed. I mean that sometimes depends on the scp.. if they know enough about it.. then they can contain it much faster. And even then.. some SCPs they have tried SOOOO hard to kill but cant. (see the ever famous hateful lizard here) There are some scp's that have been "neutralized" though.
In the SCP Containment Breach game you lure 106 into his chamber and re-contain him by turning on the patented "Femur Breaker" on a poor D-Class. The femur is the most painful bone to break in your body. The audio that plays of him screaming and crying in agony is some of the most bone-chilling voice acting i've heard tbh.
I believe that in the SCP: containment breach -game you can contain The Old Man with a device that constantly sends out some signals that screws up his sense of direction. So, he's in a big metal box, which he could easily phase through. But he can't find the edges cause the sense of which way is up and which is down is constantly shifting.
They don’t usually kill SCPs because killing them might trigger another SCP (let it be an event, item or being) that could be potentially catastrophic , as well as the fact that many are, as it may appear , invincible and trying to do such may only just anger them. I’m sure also that research on an SCP could lead to discoveries on ways to control or prevent issues with other anomalies.
SCP foundation usually wants to do research on scps.If they ran out of ideas to do research (rarely) or if SCP causes extreme chaos and it is not a good idea to protect it,then they sometimes try to kill him (SCP 682,2317 etc.).But they are not good at killing SCPs and in most of the cases protecting SCPs are a better idea. But they are able to kill SCPs or sometimes SCPs die on their own (SCP 407,1762).And for 106 they do try to fight him with other SCPs but they failed horribly.
The reasons why the scp foundation didn't just destroy these anomalies is either because the anomalies are harmless, can be used in some way, still needs to be experimented on, or just no, either because of safety reasons or the anomalies are immortal/unkillable
One of the parts about this that is super crazy is that they have a specialized device for when this guy breaches, called the Femur Breaker - basically, you strap someone into it and it crushes their femur with a hydraulic press, and records their screams so they can be played throughout the facility. It features in the game SCP: Containment Breach, and the person who voice acted the screams did really well.
The foundation doesn’t dare kill most SCPs because they have no idea what it might cause and some SCPs just can’t die. Also: The “protect” part of: SCP, is more referring to protecting humanity.
Secure in SCP stands for tagging and bagging anomalies and securing it. The C in SCP contain stands for after they secure they contain it and the P in SCP Protect is when they protect humanity from anomalies.
The Contain and Protect thing is to Contain specifically anomalies to Protect the general public so the world doesn't get exposed to these dangerous anomalies, as the O5 Council like to say "we die in the dark so you can live in the light"
4:24 so yes this is somewhat a problem with series one articles (SCPs 1-999) the popular ones are kind of big bad unkillable murder monster like 096, 049, 682 etc or theoretical world ending like 871, there are of course some exceptions to this rule like 715. But an actual reason in lore of why they don't try and kill him is because it would end horribly and they have a means of containment that works out with only a breach every few months and then easy re-containment
I personally think you should do what ever you want to do. Its the best when the youtuber/streamer enjoys what they are doing/watching/playing, you can definitely tell when whoever your watching enjoys it
Secure-to secure scp and not let it escape. Contain-to contain the scp at all cost. Protect-to protect the scp from dying to learn more about about it but if it needs to be terminated they have to and one meaning of protect is,to protect the world from dangerous scp. Maybe these are the meanings
As for why the foundation doesn't terminate SCPs... one part scientific curiosity, and two parts an abundance of caution. No guarantees that trying to destroy a SCP wouldn't make its effect worse (these things defy reality after all). Check out #s 1609, 023, or 2480 for some examples of why termination is a bad idea.
Min 4:31, the Foundation doesn't destroy SCPs (mostly) due to the chance of this provoking something worse that the SCP itself, the GOC onces tried to destroy a set of anomalous chairs that were peaceful and served as that, chairs to anyone who was tired nearby, one of those chairs wasn't completely destroyed and turned into wood waste which teleported part of itself into the lungs of humans that it felt agressive towards it, now It's contained by the Foundation and it's mostly peaceful but if attacked it can fight back and escape
Secure: obtain dangerous or abnormal things Contain: keep abnormal things away from humanity. Protect: protect humanity. And paranormal things that are useful. The experiments are to find ways to either use things to Protect humanity....and find ways to destroy the things that are too much of a threat. Some dangerous scps can maybe be used to destroy other dangerous scps.
The reason that SCPs aren't instantly terminated is that well first: If they were to attempt to kill an SCP, especially one as dangerous as 106, this would normally cause many casualties in personnel. Second: The Foundation does attempt to neutralize SCPs every once in a while, however, this is when the SCPs pose a serious threat to humanity and must be destroyed as soon as possible. Third: Experiments are used to better understand the SCPs, to find the best ways to contain the SCP
The UNGOC tries to terminate anomalies, one time they threw an anomalous chair that just teleported around into a shredder; the splinters from the chair now kill anyone who gets too close. That’s partly why they can’t just go around killing anomalies
The foundation has a special machine used to lure 106 called “the femur breaker” What it does is pretty self explanatory where they break a d-class femur inside the lead containment chamber In some lore the containment chamber is suspended in the air by a magnetic field to keep him from escaping (it doesn’t work to often) Also you should watch the 106 origin
The Protect in SCP in most cases isn't aimed at protecting the anomaly instead protecting human population having a their existence threatened or them gaining knowledge of the existence of such world-changing anomalies
Some SCPs are flatout harmless if they're contained. There's no need to kill/destroy them. Others are virtually indestructable/immortal, which means to minimize harm to the people the entities need to be contained. You can look up SCP-166 as example. She doesn't want to harm anybody actively, she's just really angry about being kept locked up. Oh, and just by being, she alters reality around her.
Go to the actual scp site and read the entries for complete information but The main form of containment for 106 is basically to keep him in a lead lined steel box that is suspended at least 60cm away from any surface via electromagnetic supports. For recall: a class d will be injured via severing major tendon or breaking a long bone (femur) and placed in replacement box
may be a bit late but the femur breaker is something used to cause as much pain as possible in one go. normally, the femur is the most painful bone to break, however the femur breaker completely *crushes* it. at least, that is what i remember, and not just breaking bones around it.
SCP 106 is immortal and they have him contained until they can figure out how to kill it. A rail gun won’t work either. They even made a advanced HID turret to contain it.
The in-universe reason they don't kill the anomalies is that they either can't or they are concerned that attempting to kill them would do more harm than good. But ultimately it just makes for a less interesting story if the answer is always "let's kill it."
My roommates snoring is so loud right now that I can’t sleep even tho I’m tired so I’m blasting this and wrapping the pillow around my ears but I can still hear them.
The "Protect" aspect of the Foundation's mission is to protect the anomalies from falling into the hands of those who would misuse or aid them in a way that would be harmful to the human race or to the planet (or the known universe).
In a way, the Foundation Contain the SCPs in order to study the SCPs safely, which a lot of them are hard to kill, even some are literally immortal. And here's also a lot to consider if they want to destroy something that is abnormal, especially when the Foundation also want to kept it a secret.
They stated that they cannot kill it. It was stated in 6:37. All they can is contain it, so protect people outside its prison, but sadly it will eventually break free over and over again.
They contain the SCPs to protect the human population. Their guns have no real use against the vaste majority of SCPs, they just try to get more time to evacuate the most important personnel or for a real contingency to take place (or both).
The 'Protect' in SCP talks about protecting the world They contain the scps to keep them from destroying or changing the planet, and they do kill the scps if theyre too dangerous. And I suggest you to react to scp 049 from TheVolgun, that scp is really interesting in my opinion!
To answer your question, the reason SCP foundation refuses to destroy any anomalies because they don't know the repercussions of destroying SCPs. A lot of times it is either impossible to destroy an anomaly or too dangerous to do so. So they stick to securing, containing, and protecting.

I didn’t know that about the chair, wonder what other SCPs were docile before humans.

There's two... SCP Containment Breach and SCP Secret Laboratory. CB is a single player story game. And SL is multiplayer PvP game

Imagine stoping a nuke with another nuke, that's How it ends if they try to Kill An SCP that is A Keter class
More like "Stopping a nuke with another nuke, only for the blast to be absorbed into a nuke twice as powerful".
@@kevincass9917 Basically
Did they ever test using -999 on -106?
And I’ve wondered, could they use a syringe to extract some of -999s gelatin body and mix it with a bit of saline and inject it into some of the SCPs in an attempt to make them permanently or semi-permanently happy?
@@oxide9679 that doesn’t work 106 would escape and kill them in seconds and even if they actually stabbed him with the seringe the seringe would melt
Feeling early are we? I have nothing wrong with this.

Porcelain would break and die if unattended properly and cyborg girl would literally be used by "bad" people if she was not secured.
the only way to terminate 096 is by having 173 break his bones and spine continuously and then have his flesh destroyed with acids
One reason why Protect is so prevalent within the Foundation SCPs is due to many SCPs not being able to be destroyed, they are being protected from misuse from other organizations in the universe. Another reason is what the Gate Guardian commanded the Adminiatrator to do; Prepare.
Hell yeah!
SCP Sunday. Im keeping you to it ;D

Trying to kill scps is near impossible which is why they don’t. It makes sense especially after scp 682

If this terrified you then I can’t imagine your face upon hearing the femur breaker
This isn’t a bio about 106. This is a explanatory breach that occurred.
I like this, finally a big youtuber reacting to SCP horror tale and someone who served in his country for an added bonus. I’ve long wanted this
106: “I’ve got thousands of kills to my name”
Hitler: HAHA HITLER GO BRRRRRR
Haha mg 42 go brrrrrr.
You should try to play SCP Containmant breach, it's a free horror game based on SCP basically.
Catching him in game is the most horrifying thing to listen to the first time. Whoever did the voice acting really deserves a big check and some awards.

I recommend you to react to Hiddenxperia's SCP videos
His when day breaks is truly eerie
But still, if the SCP Foundation have to kill an SCP just like in the SCP Unlondon where they kill some Bobby's.
Old man is one of my favorite scp’s only behind 096 and the ikea store
I am scared if spc but still watch these lol

In the SCP Containment Breach game you lure 106 into his chamber and re-contain him by turning on the patented "Femur Breaker" on a poor D-Class. The femur is the most painful bone to break in your body. The audio that plays of him screaming and crying in agony is some of the most bone-chilling voice acting i've heard tbh.
You should watch infinite ikea or 001 "When day breaks*
I hope “When Day Breaks” is the one that’s officially chosen for the SCP-001 slot
When day breaks is the most horrifying one, your not safe even when you're dead.
@@oxide9679 Yeah it's definitely the best one
I can neither confirm nor deny that this is true information
9:37
Its the best when the youtuber/streamer enjoys what they are doing/watching/playing, you can definitely tell when whoever your watching enjoys it
The SCP-5000 is, despite being one of the longest ones, one of the best ones I've ever heard.
I love how you do these videos.
You're uploads are great and balanced. I'd say keep these SCP video uploads as is.
Secure: obtain dangerous or abnormal things
Contain: keep abnormal things away from humanity.
The foundation has a special machine used to lure 106 called “the femur breaker”
What it does is pretty self explanatory where they break a d-class femur inside the lead containment chamber
In some lore the containment chamber is suspended in the air by a magnetic field to keep him from escaping (it doesn’t work to often)
Also you should watch the 106 origin
Hey mate, love seeing a military guy loving some of the more weird and cool stuff. Being able to watch your normal content and nerdy stuff is great
The Protect in SCP in most cases isn't aimed at protecting the anomaly instead protecting human population having a their existence threatened or them gaining knowledge of the existence of such world-changing anomalies
For recall: a class d will be injured via severing major tendon or breaking a long bone (femur) and placed in replacement box
may be a bit late but
the femur breaker is something used to cause as much pain as possible in one go. normally, the femur is the most painful bone to break, however the femur breaker completely *crushes* it. at least, that is what i remember, and not just breaking bones around it.
"Just once I'd like to meet a menace that wasn't immune to bullets." The Brigadier, Doctor Who.
The 'Protect' in SCP talks about protecting the world
They contain the scps to keep them from destroying or changing the planet, and they do kill the scps if theyre too dangerous.
