As we mentioned in this video check out our review of The Wolverton Bible for more incredible ink work and gnarly textures: th-cam.com/video/gFuqRI38rEU/w-d-xo.html
Nice pronunciation of the Celtic for Sláine. Try and check out Bisley’s first venture in 2000AD, when he illustrated ABC Warrriors. You’ll like it. If you are a fan of Sláine, you will probably like the art of Glenn Fabry, too.
@@zacetto thanks for checking out the video! Yep haha very familiar with the rest of Mr. Bisleys work for 2000ad and YES love Glenn Fabry’s work on Slaine as well…superb pen and ink stuff!! Both will be getting reviews in the future!
@ When I was a kid, the high point of my year was attending the 2000AD annual signing, at Forbidden Planet 1&2, London. I was only 14, but Glenn was wearing a ‘Love and Rockets’ t-shirt. I knew this must be a good comic, but I somehow knew I needed to experience a bit more of life before I read any Hernandez brothers!
@ Glenn was really nice and funny. I asked him to sign a 2000AD issue, with a picture of Nest + Ukko on top of a dead diluvial. (Search images: You are Sláine in tomb of terror). My mother had done sums on the picture and Glenn laughed, “….Oi! What’s all this!!!?” I pointed to my mother and he screamed in mock frustration, slamming his fists on the comic, grinning, before signing. Happy days.
I think Bisley is a prime example of someone who has mastered anatomy so he can master manipulating it successfully. The unbridled energy of his work is so captivating, and getting to see footage people have got of him working at conventions whilst he's mid flow is really awe inspiring stuff. Plus I'm a sucker for anyone who captures Julie Strain in their work!

I totally remember Heavy Metal in the 80s!
Hell yeah! A great publication.
this art is very 90s. I remember pouring over many TTRPG books that had art work that looked and felt this way.
