On the note of the after-credits bit, The Expanse books actually mentioned this briefly. They have laser weapons but don't use them much. The one time an anti-infantry laser comes up in the books, it takes out a few guys before they use a smoke-bomb designed to block lasers to stop it. Similarly, the martian light armor available to the crew of the Rocinante is apparently ablative to reduce the effectiveness of lasers. Just thought I'd point out yet another cool thing the Expanse brings up
Something I'd like to tack on about the lasers in-game: It's likely that the lasers used are just ridiculously powerful chemical lasers. This solves the insane power demands necessary for the laser to have good effect at the surface, and it would also explain why the laser has limited charges. Those exotic chemicals aren't cheap, you know.
I love sci-fi settings where countermeasures to more sci-fi weapon systems prove so effective that it's more cost effective (or just more combat effective) to just use conventional style weapons instead. Like in Dune how energy shielding is effectively impenetrable from anything above a certain velocity, so you just use a knife instead.
@@burnin8able The Expanse has a bit of that in reverse. They barely bother with armoring the ships and just try to avoid the ammunition because, among many things, railguns that are described as being able to "fire a 2 kilo tungsten round at a measurable fraction of c" and "put a round through a small moon" are fairly common. If you can't stop a weapon with armor, no point having it, especially when extra weight makes it harder to evade.

While I do agree this would be an interesting episode, it would also be kind of a pointless one. Helldivers 1 lore established that Helldivers are cryo-frozen and then resurrected on the Super Destroyer, and Helldivers 2 hasn't really refuted that lore despite supposedly taking place 100 years after the first game. The primary difference between the Helldivers of 1 and 2 seems to be that the Helldivers of 2 are far less trained (and capable) after 100 years of supposed peace, which is why they're basically treated as cannon fodder.
Also, in my opinion it is suggested in many places we are the expendible enlisted. Average age of a helldiver 18.2yrs. Default setting for death is randomized voice and build. Implying everytime you die you unfreeze a new 18yo guy ar gall and they are not the same. Not impossible to be otherwise but it would be a conspiracy and not a simple piece of unanswered lore I reckon
And your question was about the best way to unalive a Terminid and nothing treasonous to begin with!😂 We just want to find more efficient ways to spread democracy.😢 For Super Earth!
9:30 the 500KG bomb probably contains Torpex, a high explosive that's considerably more powerful for its weight than TNT and has been used since before WW2 as the warhead for naval torpedoes, hence the name Torpex (TORpedo EXplosive)
In the orbit segment. I recall that the Super Destroyers always synchronize their orbit with the planet. The AI announcer in the always says “Orbit synchronized” whenever you move to a mission area before you jump in to those hellpods.
Kyle does briefly mention that you are way too close to synchronize orbits. It's impossible. To synchronize orbit and not fall, you'd need to go really fast. But if you go fast, you cannot stay above the area of operations, not at that distance. You'd need to be super far away, way up there in orbit to synchronize the orbit. So, Kyle explains you are in fact hovering above the AO. Which probably means you are using thrusters and insane amounts of fuel (or whatever energy they use) to stay at that exact spot in the sky. So, even if it would be do-able in-lore, it still wouldn't be cost effective.
@@AleksandrKramarenko This I believe matches with what we are told in-game. The mission timers are 40 minutes, and as you hit the 5 minute mark or so your Mission Control will say something along the lines of the Super Destroyers can only stay so low for so long. What's the limiting factor? If you ask me it's fuel, they're having to burn a ton of fuel to stay in orbit that once they reach 40 minutes they have to climb to a more stable altitude in order to refuel.
@Mobius__ indeed, they also call it low orbit. So maybe its not sycnhronized orbit as in the matching of spin off vs grav but synchronized as in thrust to stay above the battle zone

It's worth mentioning that Super Earth has two moons and maybe doesn't have the same continents that players would recognise from their _regular_ undemocratic Earth. It's something that kinda requires you to manage to slide out of your ship to see, but it's there.
Today's Fact: The largest known structure in the universe is the Hercules-Corona Borealis Great Wall, which measures over 10 billion light years across.

The reason we can't go back in time and prevent the Terminid invasion is because E-710 is salvaged from Terminid corpses, meaning we need the invasion for the discovery of FTL drives and time travel. If the invasion is prevented, not only will Democracy lose out on that sweet FTL and time travel, but it will cause a time-space paradox, because the means of traveling through time will retroactively become unavailable to the user who traveled back in time to prevent the Terminid invasion, causing all of time-space to collapse in of itself. Anyone who tells you that Super-Earth should just go back in time and prevent the Terminid invasion is an anti-democratic conspirator and should be dealt with accordingly
I would like to touch on the notion of FTL being a means of looping time into the past. I've seen this broken down in various explanations, but I've not seen the proof that is needed for the effect. We have tested that, "movement of increasing speed causes increasing time dilation." However I suspect that we've not tested this adequately in near-ideal conditions (like in zero-G) to make this rather extreme presumption. Even presuming that time does dilate with speed linearly to the point of the speed of light; this should only mean that the object itself experiences no passage of time. Does time then reverse beyond the speed of light? We don't know this with any certainty AFAIK, and I personally doubt this. Even if the object was experiencing its own reversal of time (barring all the paradoxes associated with this) it would still be traveling a distance at a speed and arrive at its destination in an amount of time external to it. It's like believing that breaking the sound barrier would reverse time inside a jet. I would suspect that if time dilation is in fact real relative to speed that two things are true: First, that time dilates to zero at infinite speed which is genuinely impossible. Second, that time dilation affects everything separately, and there would be no reversal of time external to the object traveling at FTL speeds. (P.S: I repeat; I have seen many attempts at explaining this, but none have shown any definitive research/evidence that would confirm the expectation of the example. For those reading this, kindly resist the urge to link videos to me that only have these explanations. I want the research/evidence that proves my theory wrong.)
Honestly this vid fits so well within the style and canon that I refuse to believe a helldiver would listen to any other science nerd unless they had the hair and beard of Thor
10:02 With the valiant efforts of Super scientists, Super Earth has created Super Trinitrotoluene, 500kg of which is enough to create the explosion seen in the game.

Hey, my name is in the credits! I'm doing my part!
Your patriotism is inspiring!
But sargeant proffessor kyle sir, the 500kg bomb is a plane strike stratagem sir, not an orbital strike strwtagem sir!
Who is your supervisor!?
RIP Helldivers 2
"what is it like killing an alien?"
"I don't know, i've only ever killed tyranids"
Been wondering when you were going to jump on the Helldivers train. This would make for SO MANY Because Science videos.
well, he _has_ been streaming him playing it
Would love to see a Pt.2 where you discuss the idea of whether we are just an endless supply of enlisted vs we are ships full of clones on ice.
THAT INFORMATION IS CLASSIFIED! I'M REPORTING YOU TO YOUR DEMOCRACY OFFICER!
"But PROFESSOR DOCTOR SERGENT KYLE SIR-"
That might be some peak comedy right there 😂
Me: I have a question *immediately gets arrested and executed for thought crimes*
@@AleksandrKramarenkogeostationary orbit of earth is basically 1/10th the way to the moon so you'd have to be pretty far away
The FTL technology is just how the Planet Express ship in Futurama flies
Same mechanics, it moves the world around it
Idk what all this science jargon means, but fuck yeah to *Managed* Democracy
Anyone need a fresh cup of LiberTea??
Kyle's hair blowing in the wind is so majestic!!!
Hey man, glad you uploaded today I was just thinking about you earlier. It would be really cool if you made a video about what spider man's caloric intake would need to be to produce the webs he uses.
The 500kg is possibly a thermobaric, but that is still very questionable how the Helldivers are surviving a blast from that.
3:30 dang, I never knew the space station was so big.
Love the hair blowing in the wind
Kyle: Have you seen the Research videos in "Control" ~The Federal Bureau of Control find, study & contain Altered Items & Objects of Power. The Board has asked if you can provide ur skills to research Altered items? They are normal everyday items that have been altered to give them obscure powers. Objects of Power are even stronger and can make connection to the Astral Plane & cause Altered world events. The FBC & The Board would really appreciate to have your help making science videos alongside our team. *In the video game there is a bunch of handmade videos that show a Scientist studying and teaching about these things. It's got a lot of Half Life scientists vibes
The wind tunnel effect is the best reference to this game you could possibly have made.

I think the planet does actually turn relative to you, but just very slowly
not when you're hovering over a point. :P The issue with speed is that the lower your orbit the faster you move.
I've never played this game, and not a fan of FPS, but I'm really really beginning to love this game because of the community and the really sweet personalities of the devs. I think you guys are all wonderful.
I'm not really a fan of FPS either. My calling is usually MMOs and RPGs. That said, I was curious enough about the game that I didn't mind spending the $40 for it. I joined the fight merely hours before the Creek fell and I've been playing ever since.
God bless SUPER-EARTH
And nowhere else
It's worth mentioning that Super Earth has two moons and maybe doesn't have the same continents that players would recognise from their _regular_ undemocratic Earth. It's something that kinda requires you to manage to slide out of your ship to see, but it's there.
Today's Fact: The largest known structure in the universe is the Hercules-Corona Borealis Great Wall, which measures over 10 billion light years across.
Bruh what it’s 10 seconds how why nahh
Fuckin bot
What are the qualifications of a structure? 🤔
this is a copypasta.
This is incorrect, the largest structure is the void of space in which every other structure occupies

There are people who don't understand that Helldivers is a satire of chauvinism.
Or just a glimpse into our near future lol
And American exceptionalism and American nationalism
@@thekaxmaxyou’re looking too much into it’s just a funny space game
It's what the UN wishes it was. We already have "Managed Democracy"
@@alexanderl.6207right, because everything being about E-OIL (E-710) isn't allegorical at all
I love that on his spaceship his hair flows like the capes do!!
I'm guessing since you are making this video. You weren't part of those traitorous scientists that lead to the flying bugs we have to deal with now. Keep studying our enemies Professor Kyle. That way we may continue to dispense liberty onto the galaxy.
1:00
As you're describing "Super Earths" I can't help but think of those maps that show how big texas is, by putting other continents inside a map of Texas, and then also put a smaller Texas inside Texas.
Super Earth is Earth, but bigger.
Thank liberty you were here to help us patriotic Helldivers with our burning questions, sergeant private doctor scientist Kyle! ❤️
The Ministries of Truth and Defense would like to thank Admiral Professor Doctor Kyle for his approved educational video. An informed Helldiver is a deadly Helldiver. FOR SUPER EARTH!
9:13 There is a mistake here. Eagle-1 isn't a orbital strike, it's an eagle strike. So 500kg bomb can't be counted as an orbital. ↑ → ↓ ↓ ↓ is eagle-1.
Terminid blood is not E710. E710 is produced by refining terminid corpses into the liquid.
The 500kg is probably some kind of thermobaric bomb (vacuum bomb) because of the very fiery fireball, and the little delay before explosion.
If your ship's artificial gravity is made by hovering above a planet, that's not artificial. That's just gravity!
"That beautiful lady right there: Super Earth." I laughed so hard I had to put my weights down...
This was INCREDIBLE and Professor Doctor Sergeant is probably my favorite title. Because it seems like a title someone DOES have somewhere in some army already on REGULAR Earth.
It can't be fascism if we're only killing bugs and robots.
It's not so much fascism, as a corporate oligarchy.
It's like if Amazon became the ruling body of Earth, imo.
As they say in Schlock's Mercenary "we just parked in a VERY expensive orbit", as their ship hovers 2000 m above the surface.
This video makes me wanna watch Starship Troopers again!
well rip HD2 it was fun while it lasted
FOR SUPER EARTH
Your videos are good, but the writing on this is award worth, wow.
Well played, sir. Well played indeed. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 love ya, science dude!
The "SES Elected Representative of Self Determination" reporting for duty!
Honestly this vid fits so well within the style and canon that I refuse to believe a helldiver would listen to any other science nerd unless they had the hair and beard of Thor
This is so good. My new favorite channel 😍. Subscribed
There is a sound bit that plays on the ship sometimes saying "Alcubierre drive calibrated" which i thought was really cool
Kyle sent a lot of people to freedom camp today. Well done.
For freedom! For democracy! For Super Earth!
10:02 With the valiant efforts of Super scientists, Super Earth has created Super Trinitrotoluene, 500kg of which is enough to create the explosion seen in the game.
"I'm not gonna sugar coat it." UP RIGHT DOWN DOWN DOWN
Can I just say that the squad of Nut Face, lizardstyle, meatballsandwich29, and Kyle brought me to tears as the most patriotic band of Helldivers Super Earth has ever known? Salute!
