- Super Earth needs you, Helldiver! But of course, you wouldn’t just willingly jump into a hellpod and drop straight into the heart of battle without asking some important questions about the science and theory behind your new career, right? So sit down, grab a nice hot cup of Liber-tea and let Science Daddy Kyle Hill give you the rundown of Helldivers 2 science. FOR DEMOCRACY!

"It can't be fascism if no one is allowed to call it that" is both terrifying and hilarious. Good job, Kyle!
It's also pointing out the obvious. The game is very clearly over the top satire.
It indeed points the obvious - Kyle is a traitor to democracy and spreads anti democratic propaganda@@urgo224
Annnnnnd that line doubles as a shot fired at censorship itself.

Lol love this reply section. Definitely hate these comments. They see that they've gotten a lot of attention before and are trying to jump on a bandwagon
On the note of the after-credits bit, The Expanse books actually mentioned this briefly. They have laser weapons but don't use them much. The one time an anti-infantry laser comes up in the books, it takes out a few guys before they use a smoke-bomb designed to block lasers to stop it. Similarly, the martian light armor available to the crew of the Rocinante is apparently ablative to reduce the effectiveness of lasers. Just thought I'd point out yet another cool thing the Expanse brings up
Something I'd like to tack on about the lasers in-game: It's likely that the lasers used are just ridiculously powerful chemical lasers. This solves the insane power demands necessary for the laser to have good effect at the surface, and it would also explain why the laser has limited charges. Those exotic chemicals aren't cheap, you know.
I love sci-fi settings where countermeasures to more sci-fi weapon systems prove so effective that it's more cost effective (or just more combat effective) to just use conventional style weapons instead. Like in Dune how energy shielding is effectively impenetrable from anything above a certain velocity, so you just use a knife instead.
Onthe other hand, the hand held lasers have effectively infinite ammo as long as you don't burn out the heat sinks.
@@burnin8able The Expanse has a bit of that in reverse. They barely bother with armoring the ships and just try to avoid the ammunition because, among many things, railguns that are described as being able to "fire a 2 kilo tungsten round at a measurable fraction of c" and "put a round through a small moon" are fairly common. If you can't stop a weapon with armor, no point having it, especially when extra weight makes it harder to evade.
@@addison1024 Funny enough that's kind of a more sci-fi version of actual modern combat doctrines. most actual tanks don't have enough armor to stop a direct hit from another tank, just enough to shrug off anything smaller because the amount of extra plating you would need would be stupidly heavy and bulky.
Fun fact: the FTL drive in Helldivers actually is an Alcubierre drive. It's even refered to as such in-game!
They must have figured out how to decelerate without destroying everything in front of the ship.

"A part of" and "apart of" are two different things. In fact, they're each other's opposite. You're a part of an organization if you are a member. You're apart of the organization if you left it.
(Both are bad English but idc. It should be "part of" and "apart from".)
I choose to believe "Super Earth" actually is a Super-Earth in the technical sense, and that technology has just advanced enough to the point that humanity has developed measures to withstand the higher gravity and other complications. IIRC in the first Helldivers game, if the playerbase lost Super Earth it was stated that humanity would flee and find another Super Earth to rebuild civilization, so that also lines up with there being thousands of Super-Earthlike planets out there.
whenever Super Earth finds a new solar system to set up shop in they terraform both it and a nearby planet to exactly resemble both the original Super Earth and Mars. There are even world maps of Super Earth that confirm it has all the same continental shapes as our earth.
@@burnin8able thats because it is the original Earth..just Super because everyone is united and patriotic. Super Earth was canonically invaded and nuked several times by the Cyborgs (and probably re-nuked to drive them off) which is why vast swaths are irradiated and depopulated from the First Galactic War

@MasterCrander I never saw that series. Although I wasn't making an actual commentary about the video style. It still fits with the videos I have seen.
@@bobafettjr85 yeah I figured I missed another nuance to the delivery but I also assumed everyone knew Kyle from those days. His foray into more serious topics and tones was the change for me instead of finding him and having that be first baseline.
No put-downs intended; those videos were pretty rad ngl
stuff like if iron man blasters could work or how many burgers would hulk hafta eat to get that big suddenly
E-710 is so funny to me, since even upon my first ever time actually hearing about it - I can tell it’s literally just “OIL” upside down. This is about as heavy handed as one can get without actively telling you who the villain is, and yet so many people cannot see it
yeah Arrowhead is quite literally beating the playerbase over the head with their allegories. Turns out, basing your entire infrastructure on consuming more and more of a hazardous fuel source can have negative consequences. The termanids TOTALLY aren't a completely blatant stand-in for the environmental disasters caused by basing all of our economies and infrastructure on oil consumption.
I love it.
not only do people not see the satire, some even fell for it and want super earth to be real.
sounds like treason to me
@@burnin8able it feels like trying to explain what a dogwhistle is to someone who clearly doesn’t understand it at all, and has an interest in not understanding it either. It feels so fruitless
Everybody gets it. I don't see why this idea of "people are so much dumber than me and don't see the obvious satire" is everywhere. Everybody gets it, you're not special and were just having fun being loyal citizens of Super Earth
I get that everybody on the internet thinks you're above the curve of intelligence but guess what.. you're not. You're just like the rest of us. Stop being such pompous cunts and fight for managed democracy like the rest of us.
Frankly, I find the idea of a Helldiver that thinks about anything other than Managed Democracy offensive!
An educated Helldiver makes for a better Helldiver. More smart and skilled Helldiver, less deaths, less budget being used for reinforcement, more samples brought back, bigger glory for Super Earth and Managed Democracy.
The inexplicable, but dramatic wind effect inside the ship was a nice touch
This is a good direction for the channel. Kyle's personality and the writing and editing style both lend themselves well to covering popular subjects with a scientific eye, rather than simply "science." The Half Life Histories + Chernobyl fits the bill and so do deep dives into the lore and mechanics of sci-fi games.
Mass Effect would also be a treasure trove of subjects
Before Kyle went independent, he ran a series called "Because Science!" on a youtube channel of the same name where he did exactly that. It's a treasure trove of good content
The science videos are awesome and all and I would never want them to stop. With that being said I always love seeing Kyle talking about the science of nerdy stuff that my nerdy friends and I argue about.
SES Octagon of Family Values reporting in! Thank you for this Patriotic education program. FOR SUPER EARTH!
The writing on this one was perfect! Well done.
The method of moving space through you actually solves issues with faster-than-light-travel. You aren't actually going faster than light, the theoretical drive just makes the length between you and things smaller, so you can go further than light would go in the same amount of time, but you aren't going faster.
That was Alcubierre's start point, yup.
I heard the first two words of this and my *ENTIRE* brain said "is a non-profit fan based parody, d-ball, d-ball Z, d-ball GT and d-ball super are all owned by Funimation, Toei animation, Fuji TV and Akira Toriyama, please support the official release" in it's entirety in the nanoseconds before I heard the third word.

Would love to see a Pt.2 where you discuss the idea of whether we are just an endless supply of enlisted vs we are ships full of clones on ice.
While I do agree this would be an interesting episode, it would also be kind of a pointless one. Helldivers 1 lore established that Helldivers are cryo-frozen and then resurrected on the Super Destroyer, and Helldivers 2 hasn't really refuted that lore despite supposedly taking place 100 years after the first game. The primary difference between the Helldivers of 1 and 2 seems to be that the Helldivers of 2 are far less trained (and capable) after 100 years of supposed peace, which is why they're basically treated as cannon fodder.
Also, in my opinion it is suggested in many places we are the expendible enlisted. Average age of a helldiver 18.2yrs. Default setting for death is randomized voice and build. Implying everytime you die you unfreeze a new 18yo guy ar gall and they are not the same. Not impossible to be otherwise but it would be a conspiracy and not a simple piece of unanswered lore I reckon
THAT INFORMATION IS CLASSIFIED! I'M REPORTING YOU TO YOUR DEMOCRACY OFFICER!
In the orbit segment. I recall that the Super Destroyers always synchronize their orbit with the planet. The AI announcer in the always says “Orbit synchronized” whenever you move to a mission area before you jump in to those hellpods.
Kyle does briefly mention that you are way too close to synchronize orbits. It's impossible. To synchronize orbit and not fall, you'd need to go really fast. But if you go fast, you cannot stay above the area of operations, not at that distance. You'd need to be super far away, way up there in orbit to synchronize the orbit. So, Kyle explains you are in fact hovering above the AO. Which probably means you are using thrusters and insane amounts of fuel (or whatever energy they use) to stay at that exact spot in the sky. So, even if it would be do-able in-lore, it still wouldn't be cost effective.
@@AleksandrKramarenkogeostationary orbit of earth is basically 1/10th the way to the moon so you'd have to be pretty far away
@@AleksandrKramarenko This I believe matches with what we are told in-game. The mission timers are 40 minutes, and as you hit the 5 minute mark or so your Mission Control will say something along the lines of the Super Destroyers can only stay so low for so long. What's the limiting factor? If you ask me it's fuel, they're having to burn a ton of fuel to stay in orbit that once they reach 40 minutes they have to climb to a more stable altitude in order to refuel.
@Mobius__ indeed, they also call it low orbit. So maybe its not sycnhronized orbit as in the matching of spin off vs grav but synchronized as in thrust to stay above the battle zone
Me: I have a question *immediately gets arrested and executed for thought crimes*
And your question was about the best way to unalive a Terminid and nothing treasonous to begin with!😂 We just want to find more efficient ways to spread democracy.😢 For Super Earth!
