the original model of the Janissaries were like the Royal Janissaries ones, but due to very low resolution of the original game many people thought that their hats looked like KKK clansmen's hoods.
As someone already mentioned down below, they changed the OG janissary sprite during development bc, due to low res of AoK, it could be associated with some infamous hat wearing us clan. But given the high res of definitive edition, I don't see how this could be an issue now, so they could def. make the change and make the unit more historically accurate.
And since it is an already existing units, it could be very easy to replace. Or add few extras, like ring mail between their robes or feathers on their hats.
OOF, all mesoamericans units need a reskin. I hate see units on chainmail and plate armor while those not existed there. Same for asian civs, make a difference between china, india, korea or even japan, i would love see bune ships or ashigaru infantry.
They could at least break the core generic units into regional styles like the buldings. At over 40 civs I don't expect them to make unique looking units for each and all of them, but at least not let an african horseman wear an european knight armor for ex. Or how come all civilizations in the world equip their base foot soldoer with the exact pattern of kite shield+sword?

unique castle to each civ, regional skins for monks (mezo, european, african, muslim civs and asian civs), regional skins for trade carts, rename Slavs to Rus and change the language of Byzantines from Latin to Greek. And add normal campaign to missing civs (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vikings, Mayans, Turks, Romans) and you would have another great DLC
i use a mod that changes the elite janissary to the model you showed. it has much more character and looks like an actual janissary. Like you said even if it was just a total unit change it would look soooooo much better than the vanilla one

It would be epic if they added variants for the villagers, for the african civilizations black skin and for the women to carry the baskets on their heads and for the eastern civs raiden hats from mortal kombat, and that their farms are rice

I agree 100% with the Janissaries and Eastern Swordsmen examples. It's not too confusing and makes sense.

@@R3stor Latin to Greek for Byzantines is something I am waiting for ages now. Especially since they decided to include the western Romans as civ.
