Correction: In the UK (as well as in Europe and parts of Asia like India) the Galaxy S24 ships with the Exynos 2400 chip (by Samsung), as apposed to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip (by Qualcomm) that is shipped in the US (as well as in parts of Asia like China and Japan). Historically speaking, the Snapgradon chips have outperformed their Exynos counterpart in performance and battery life. However early reports seem to show that the gap between the two chipsets may be shrinking. My experience using the Galaxy S24 with the Exynos chip has been great so far, but I still have a lot of testing to do. Still, I would have liked to see Samsung use the same chipset for all regions to guarantee equal performance and optimisation, like they have done with the previous Galaxy S23. Be sure to stay tuned for my upcoming Galaxy S24 review video and S24 vs S23 comparison where I will cover this subject in more detail. What are your thoughts on Samsung going back to using two chipsets?
I really liked the design of the S24 series, the square edges makes the phone look a bit more premium than before, the color choices for this year, was interesting, I like it a lot
Thank you! I was searching for this review. All the rest of TH-camrs just review the ultra model.... In my place I like more compact phones. So thank you.
Hey Dion , Thanks for the choosing the S24 regular one as that is the one I wanted to see, looks nice in this gray color, can't wait for the upcoming review of it. I also like the fact that Samsung is providing the accessories with the phone.
In portugal we didn't have that many pre-order bonuses. what we do have is the double storage thing and my carrier have these "affiliate points" that you can use to buy phones so I got it for 600€ which i think is an excellent deal for a flagship
The new flat edges, qhd display and the size difference next to the ultra is what sold me on the plus! I had an s23 ultra i have just sold it currently using my 13 pro until my s24 plus arrives! The ultra was great but it's just too big and boxy and i never used the s-pen, 100x zoom etc the main thing i loved on the ultra was the qhd display so getting that on the smaller plus this year is great i'm really excited to get it i just hope exynos 2400 is good enough and battery drain isn't an issue we start to see again as i hated that on the older s-series phones, Snapdragon is very efficient hopefully the new exynos chips are as good or close. I am also excited to go back to the flat screen i know the curve was minimal on the s23 ultra but i still prefer flat screens with glass screen protectors. I would like samsung to fix the overprocessing of 50mp photos i hope that's something we see now with the AI built in but who knows it's still a vast improvement over a 13 pro regardless.
Thanks for the first look at the S24 Regular. I hope your videos mostly focus on it, that would be a great service to the community. There are so many that cover the Ultra and so few that cover the Regular. In the States we don't get ours until Feb 1 at the earliest. So I am eagerly waiting. I know it may sound odd, but the feature I am most interested in is the small size. As someone with smaller hands I have been looking for a non-Apple phone to use. I was a fan of the OnePlus line for years before they started to grow in size.
hi , not gonna go thru all comment here to see if someone spot it but you started "Here in UK" (0:22) so I'm guessing you have UK version and apparently UK will not have Snapdragon in S24 . Can you comment on that (5:14) please?
Are you sure it's the Snapdragon chip in there? From what I've been able to find, it seems for the UK market they've gone back to the Exynos chip for the S24, when all markets got the Snapdragon chip last year for the S23! Samsung's UK site, doesn't seem to want to tell you this though!!
Hi Tom, thank you for flagging, you are correct. Here in the UK (and rest of Europe) we are getting the Exynos chip. I have made a correction in a pinned comment on this video. It would have been great if Samsung had shipped the same Snapdragon chipset across all regions to guarantee equal performance and optimisation, like they did with the previous S23. And I agree, this is not made clear on their website!
Dion, I'm living in Seoul and have seen the Galaxy s24 Ultra for a week now. I noticed the screen is a lot more washed out than the s23 Ultra. It always bugged me and then I noticed that a Chinese tester found that the DCI P3 of The s24 Ultra has dropped substantially compared to the previous phone. It seems like nobody is testing this, and I'm not sure why because when I look at the two phones next to each other the color differences are obvious. We're seeing a lot less color on the spectrum in the s24 Ultra compared to last year's s23. And his test proved it. I really wish somebody would make a video about this. We're getting a cheaper screen on the s24 Ultra!
Dion, you are based in London UK which I thought will be getting the Exynos 2400 SoC. Yet you state you have the Snapdragon 8 gen 3, which is for the USA and South Korean markets if I remember correctly. Apparently, a TH-camr in Thailand has done some heavy gaming comparisons between the SD and Exynos versions, and apart from optimisations favouring the 8gen3, the Exynos did very well. The real concern are battery life and no WiFi 7 on the Exynos 2400. Strangely, Samsung chose to disable WiFi 7 on the S24 and plus versions with Snapdragon to bring some parity! I don't think it's worth upgrading from S23 series unless you want the latest features. Some software features may trickle down to the S23, Plus and Ultra. I am sticking with my S23 Ultra for a few years, like my previous S20FE 5g before.
Was thinking between the grey and violet. At the end got the violet.Beside those freebies you should have also gotten £30 store credit and free Disney plus for a year .Paid for my one around £380 including all those freebies.
I live in the UK and just received my pre-order. I ordered it directly from the Samsung website, but I didn’t receive a free case or screen protector and have to claim my watch. How did you get all or yours delivered in one go?
If you pre register for the Samsung unpacked event, you get a vouchers for £50 and free watch to use if you decide to pre-order. When they sent the vouchers when pre-order started, they surprised everyone with an additional voucher for free case and screen protector. Amazing company. These vouchers will add them all to your pre order cart so they get delivered with the phone. No need to go through the claim process.
Ordered from ATT today and looking forward to using it. I've been trying to plow through with my iPhone se (1st gen) for as long as I can, but now some apps are no longer functioning on it, and it has really slowed down with web searching. Excited to get something that will feel a million times better.
I agree. It would have been great for Samsung to ship the same Snapdragon chipset across all regions to guarantee equal performance and optimisation, like they did with the previous S23
Clearly this isnt a UK review as you don't get the Snapdragon chipset or the case/screen protector for free (but you can get them discounted at the time of purchase of the phone). This is a basic thing to check before declaring.
