Always remember: If somebody tries to make the “BuT iT’s MaDe FoR kIdS” argument to justify a pokemon game being low quality, remind them that pokemon is the HIGHEST GROSSING MEDIA FRANCHISE ON THE PLANET, on top of the fact that being kids media doesn’t immediately mean that it’s fine for it to be low-quality. To an extent, I can accept the visuals not being top notch if the gameplay is fun (though frankly given what else is on Switch, from the very beginning all the way to now, the HIGHEST GROSSING MEDIA FRANCHISE really should do better in the visuals department), but this is just a bland package and there’s 0 excuse for it.
Also, if a story is bland for kids, I don't trust the writers to make anything of quality for adults. The entire argument is stupid because it just means the person thinks kids are stupid and shouldn't get to have good or quality writing in their media, when INTRINSICALLY, they need it MORE.
The game isn't any more entertaining for kids, it's literally just that kids haven't developed enough standards to actively reject garbage. Kids having lower standards is not an excuse to feed your kids terrible entertainment.
I liked Scarlet and Violet at 19. Despite its bugs and performance issues. You know why? Because the people making it obviously cared, and made many good Pokémon, interesting lore and characters, and overall, had a bunch of stuff to do. It was a good game, marred by the fact that it was rushed. This game never could’ve been good. It took this long, and it’s more hollow than Dusclops, who has a black hole inside of it. This game is an insult to Detective Pikachu, and to every Pokémon fan to exist. At least BDSP had extremely high difficulty, and removed HMs. This makes me want to vomit.
Being the highest grossing franchise isn't an achievement anymore, it's a privilege. Meaning that you can produce slop and people will consume them anyway. This is why indie devs should get pushed more and more. More competition always breeds more quality. ❤
All shadows are baked, and the style is not even uniform. Mons and kids have simple top down circle, while buildings and adults have longer shadow... that can stack apparently. So do dynamic light... whatever... but it looks like there is no AO too, that's why it's all so flat.
While it wasn’t this bad, the dialogue he’s mocking here was the main reason why I fell off the Sun and Moon anime. There were so many lines of dialogue that sounded like they were written for preschoolers.
Around sun and moon they also stopped trying with localization. They're just 1:1 translated instead of having language-specific grammar or expressions, which makes the whole thing feel incredibly soulless.
@@Nixahma I mean, localization doesn’t exactly work well all the time. I’d rather learn Japanese play on words to and wordplay to use later. But honestly, the localization in Scarlet and Violet is pretty damn good.

It will never not be sad how gamefreak is so successful, while just putting in the bare minimum effort into any game they make. It’s even more sad that they successfully manage to sell two pretty much identical games with every main title release, under the guise of „so people can choose and trade“. In reality it’s just a marketing strategy. But no apparently Ubisoft is the worst gaming company. I’m not saying that they don’t have their flaws. But the recent Pokémon games are way more buggy and boring. The attack animations are a joke. I hate the fact that I used to be a Pokemon fan. Monster hunter stories 1 while being a spinoff has better animations and grafics and runs on the 3ds. Gamefreak has zero excuses.
I have a conspiracy theory that the reason this game is so lackluster is because it was intended to be on the 3DS like the first game, only for the plan to change and for them to put it on the Switch by just upscaling without adjusting for the empty space and lack of animations. That would also explain why there’s zero Gen 9 Pokémon in a game that came out long after Gen 9 began. They probably intended for the sequel to come out around when the movie did, which was during Gen 8.
I find it hilarious that almost every time RT has become immensly enraged. Like, genuinely, "I want to break something" mad. It's always been a kids' game.

I have played a bit of the first investigation and its fine but I know its downhill from there
Idk, I feel we have a weird cultural problem with people hating kids so much that they want to keep them as "dumb" and as disengaged as possible. Man, kids are so cool. They wanna learn so much and be entertained too, why do you wanna make them hate life as soon as possible?
it's mostly said by people that don't understand children in any way, who believe their narrow worldview is universal because they can't put themselves in others' shoes for even a single train of thought.
You're getting this game confused with the first one on the 3ds. Though if that doesn't speak volumes of just how bad the graphics are for a switch game then nothing will. Though I do agree the corruptions were absolutely brilliant
I played an idle game literally named "Idle game 1" and there was no graphics other than a loading bar to making the number go up That was still more interesting and engaging than the gameplay I just watched
37:18 - oh no, not the dreaded "Task Failed Successfully" trope...they couldve EASILY just added a Loop Point-- Pikachu gets caught in the spinning Golem, slapstick comedy, he gets flung off, he shakes himself off, he Jumps Back On And Tries Again...but i guess, at that point, even the Devs are saying "just friggin let em Win even if they Lose"...

Also remind them that Huntik ecist and that is for kids... yet its still great for adults too
Also, if a story is bland for kids, I don't trust the writers to make anything of quality for adults.
I have never seen graphics this flat looking before.
Like did they even think about shading and or adding shadows beyond the most simplistic shadows?
All shadows are baked, and the style is not even uniform.
Mons and kids have simple top down circle, while buildings and adults have longer shadow... that can stack apparently.
So do dynamic light... whatever... but it looks like there is no AO too, that's why it's all so flat.
With that performance? It'd probably be like using a polaroid for framr rate.
@@techno1561 The switch can perfectly run BOTW.
@@catscanhavelittleasalami Yes, but that is a good, well-developed game. This does not seem to be that.

The music sounds like copyright free stock music an intern grabbed off of the internet before the game released.
Also, I get it's set in the past, but why does the saturation for Harry's section make the game look as miserable as I imagine RT feels playing it?
Geez I know it's a 3DS game, but the NPCs look so lifeless, almost corpse like.
from what i've heard, you might be thinking about a different, better game. This one's on the switch.
@@wintremourn It was meant to be a 3DS game, but got delayed long enough that they had to release it on the switch for any chance to recoup the budget.
It's the reason why there's no current gen Pokemon in the game, despite this releasing a whole year after Scarlet and Violet.

It makes me feel at least slightly sane for still enjoying the main series
at least sv has a lot of people that genuinely like it (and i am one of them), i don't think anyone could like THIS.
There's something to love in a game like SV, even if there's so much I wish was better about it.
Good or bad, the game is *something*. The worst thing a game can be is *boring*, and that's what detective pikachu returns is
comparing this to SV is like comparing rotten eggs to a gourmet meal
SV has it's problems but the game is still very enjoyable
Sounds like the Stockholm Syndrome talking.
Pokémon is becoming gaming’s biggest Stockholm Syndrome
Kids games should be good for all ages if they 3 and over in rating. “Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon are all games “made for kids” that have extra depth for adults with their stories, characters, level design and content built into the game.

Managed to make it to 20 mins, I’m actually gonna turn it off for now
Why would the op make this video? It's not funny like they think it is. It's boring
14:18 But why was this segment actually more fun!?!?!? Like Dan’s words were better than the entire game…
I feel like we should, if anything, be harsher on media designed for children, why would you want your kids playing mindless slop instead of something that will engage their brain during its formative years?
I genuinely started missing the jingling keys, I was starting to focus on them and it was so chilling with RT voice in the background.
Even the music is brain numbing
….do do…….do do……do do do……..do do……
The keys are real lifesavers, still can't stop the video from putting me to sleep
kids deserve higher standards in entertainment too.
This is a rare example of the movie based on this game being far superior to the game itself.
Ok, people who use the:"its for kids" argument either hate kids, or absolutely despise kids, because everytime something is undeniably garbage they just say:"its for kids", im sorry, but as a kid i had such things such as early 2000's italian cartoons, the early gens pokemon games, the earlier cod titles and a ton more stuff which today is kept in high regard, as such id like the future generations to have the same, what the f*ck is this GARBAGE excuse?

I remember watching this stream at the beginning. The only interest I had was in the divorce arc, and the divorce never went anywhere
The exhausting argument of "It's made for kids" is probably why a ton of kids started gravitating towards horror games since they actually respect their audiences. (Well, the good ones anyway.)
why is the game so.... grey?
It’s only really grey during the flashback. Not like it’s much better outside of it.
everything looks so low frame rate as well

the twist of harry being pikachu in the movie was good, because it was actually a mystery up until the reveal.
this game beats you over the head with it so much that YOU might merge with a pokemon

How to print money, play a game so bad people will opt to give you money to have the bits/sub animation pop up.
_AND_ MHS1 has the benefit of a GOOD SEQUEL
@@JayTohab exactly and imagine that it improved upon the mechanics of the first game.

The vinesauce corruptions made this game 100x better
You're getting this game confused with the first one on the 3ds. Though if that doesn't speak volumes of just how bad the graphics are for a switch game then nothing will. Though I do agree the corruptions were absolutely brilliant
