@@FINESTGAMER100 according to strong translation δοῦλος (doulos). Can translate to slave, servant, maid and can also be voluntary. So voluntary workers are considered doulos.
The hebrew word עֶ֫בֶד (e.ved) translates according LSJ dictionary, as worker, worshipper, maid, servant, priest or prophet
Both (e.ved) and (doulos) are used a lot in context to refer to Christians and Jews. When talking about actual slaves. Remember that Israel was in slavery when It was happening and had stricter laws about servants and had ways to release them unlike the other nations. And the servants were Foriegn. Just like how America uses china. however unlike Americans using the Chinese or indian workers . Servants could convert to ones nationality and religion and be freed from all debts every 7 years and were paid appropriately. That system I would say is more civilized then America where you can get 25 year college loan debts. And we do not pay our need for Foriegn workers at the same rate as US workers.

A God would know people are still going to eat shellfish and wear mixed Fabrics. What I would expect to see if the Bible were written by man pretending to be God, would be allowing slavery as we see. What I would expect from a real MORAL God, would be thou shalt not own another human being as property. people still attempting to justify the Bible and slavery is pathetic. There is no context there is no excuse. The Bible is filled with immoral bullshit. They have failed to justify the belief in a God for 2k years. What, maybe people use colloquialisms because they’re common phrases and language is a thing people learn from other people? And just because the way people say “I am upset by these things” is currently, “oh my *insert name here”* doesn’t mean that there’s belief, or even much thought, behind those words?

the "slavery" term used in the bible are basically prisoners of war. when america goes to fight isis and captures them, they are prisoners of war. in prison they do some sort of work for the country. then the israelites didnt have prisons, the prisoners of war were given to the people as workers, and they were to be treated fairly. an atheist thinks from his recent knowledge of the word slavery which is about black slaves who didnt plan to fight the west or never attacked the west and they were taken as slaves, and the atheist concludes thats what slavery is by definition so then the atheist concludes thats what slavery is in the bible. false logic by atheist.

And if you watch the video he makes tons of mistakes and loses context and uses false premises.
Also the Bible and interpretations of the Bible condone slavery. Because you lack reading or history for 2300 years doesn't mean it doesn't. That is why essenes the first group to ban all slaves and material possessions actually believed it based on the Bible. That is 2300 year old.

Even in the English language slavery isn’t objectively bad there are different forms chattel slavery like what was practiced in the west was completely banned in Israel and so was treating slaves as property and beating,. raping, them etc. Was all illegal in ancient Israel. Lastly God neither founded nor endorsed slavery Alex gave a very inaccurate analogy in the beginning of the video this video is for the Historically, and Biblically ignorant, people who know there stuff weren’t fooled by the straight up lies told in this video in fact Alex was relying on emotion in this he even he was purposely misleading people by putting up a picture of a black chattel slave the very form forbidden In Israel Insee his audience are gullible teens.

He used. Litteral. Verses. From the Bible. Explain how this is based upon emotions. And don't play the "urrrr durrr it is badly translated" card, anyone can't just suggests his own interpretation of the Bible and then publish it as the real Bible, the people who translated it are more christian that you will ever dream to be.
It's not even JUST the word "slave", it's the whole concept of owning humans and beating them, which was not only actually practiced but supported by the Bible as Alex just successfully proved using whole verses with the actual context (so the "out of context" argument wouldn't hold either).
But, Deep down, reading your comment, I'm 100% sure this video planted seeds inside you. They will over time germ into reason, which you'll start using and leave this religion.

But you cut the part about marriage and children that provided a loop hole and essentially forced the slave to say ”i love my master...” If the slave married while he was a slave, after six years if the slave wanted to leave, he had to leave his wife and kids because THEY remained the slave holders’ property. So it was either leave on your own or remain here and promise that you love your.master. This way they could keep slaves, even Hebrew slaves, for life. And no man could kidnap and sell a person lawfully without the death penalty- like modern day slavery.

He's defending it by showing it's not slavery as we know it. It's basically indentured servitude, or as we would practice today, employment. The only issues he has are semantics. "they're called slaves." In the biblical Hebrew, that word could mean slave as we know it, but it merely only refers to one who serves. So it can refer to an employee employer relationship or a prisoner captor relationship. You need context to figure out which it is taking about. "they're considered property." Property in that context doesn't refer to having full rights to the person to do as you please. There are many passages which say "do not treat your slaves harshly." They had laws against doing them harm. What they mean by calling them property is that they had full rights to the fruit of their labor. The same is considered with land property. They called it property, yet they also acknowledged all land rightfully belongs to God. So the land was their property only in the sense that they had rights to the fruit of the land they worked. So these objections are merely semantics and don't get to the underlining meaning of the statements.

7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

God certainly creates evil, but it is not how you might think. God is the ultimate definition of "good", and without his existence, good and evil is impossible to philosophically or naturally justify. So everywhere that God is not, evil is. Simply by God existing, evil exists, and thus He creates evil but has no part in it.
While God desires, all humans not to sin, to commune with, and to love him, he gave us free will to do the opposite. God gave us the choice to exist where He will not. If He is a perfectly good and just God, the only explanation for Him allowing evil (the rejection/absence of God), is because he loves us. When Christians say man "has gone against the will of God", they are referring to God's desire for that individual, not his will for the entire world in terms of progressing creation.
If God exists as the Bible says he does (outside of this space-time universe), then this world and the entirety of the future was created in an instant and for all eternity. When Christians refer to everything being in God's plan, they (of course I don't speak for everybody because not everyone is on the same plane of understanding) mean that when God declares something will happen, no amount of fighting or resistance will stop it from happening. Regardless of our free will, what God has said will come to pass, will indeed come to pass through our free will, because from God's perspective outside of time, the future has already come to pass. He uses our freewill to accomplish his will for the world (not to be confused with his desires, also referred to as "will", for individual humans). This is also how he can have omniscience, omnipotence, perfect holiness (goodness), and perfect justice all simultaneously.

I am Greek. The first official translation of the Old Testament was in Greek. Then the Greek text was translated to all the other languages (fun fact: the Greek Orthodox Church claims that the Hebrew Bible is not godsend, go figure).
So, the verse in the official Greek translation is 21:17, in the chapter "Laws about violence". And it says:
The person that steals one of the sons of Israel and dominates over him and sell him, if found guilty, will be put to death.
The not-so-official translation to a bit more modern Greek, says the same. [Εκείνός που θα αρπάξη κρυφίως ένα Ισραηλίτην και τον βασανίση και τον πωλήση κατόπιν ως δούλον θα τιμωρήται με θάνατον, εάν αποδειχθή η ενοχή του.]
The word steal (κλέψη) in Greek means "grab". You can steal money, but you can also steal people. It may very well mean kidnap. "If you grab one of your own and sell him as a slave, you are dead". Only men from other nations you are allowed to steal (grab, kidnap) and make slaves.

I'd like to add a passage that actually was mentioned here, but the specific part I'm interested in, was passed by - perhaps because it wasn't 100% on topic in that exact instance. How ever, I'd argue that whenever we're talking about slavery in the bible and the "benevolence" and "wisdom" christans ascribe to their god, as well as the distinction that's made in the bible between the treatment of jewish slaves and slaves of other nations and groups of people, this specific passage should be highlighted and put on the table for discussion.
Now, my bible isn't one of the english translations (since I'm not english), but the verses and chapters are the same. I'll provide my own a translation from my language to english, but I'd sugest any one who finds this as interesting as me should go and read it for themselves in whatever translation of the bible they may prefer.
    Exodus 21:2-6
    2. If you buy a hebrew slave, he shall serve for 6 years, bhut on the seventh year he shall be set free without paying. 3. If he came alone, then he shall be freed alone. If he was married, then his wife shall be freed with him. 4. If his master _gave_ _to_ _him_ _a_ _wife_ , and she's born to him sons or daughters, then the wife and her children shall belong to her master, and the man alone shall be freed. 5. But of the slave says: "I have great love for my master, my wife, and my children, and therefor do not wish to be freed", 6. then his master shall take him infront of God and put him by the door or the doorpost, and his master shall spike awl through his ear. He will then be his slave forever.
What's noteworthy here is a couple of things that combined doesn't paint the prettiest of pictures, in my opinion. It's verses 4-6. First, note that it doesn't say that the slave has taken for himself a wife, but that the owner has "given to him a wife". Next, note that the wife and children isn't to be let free, they will continue to be the property of the slave owner. - Now contemplate the circumstances under which the man is offered to "choose" to stay a slave or to be set free. He can choose to leave his family in bondage and be on his unmarry way, or he can stay with his family. Now add to this the power of the owner: it is _he_ who's paired this man up with a woman. Regardless of the wishes of either the male or the female slave. Isn't that just a perfect coinsidence for a slave owner who has no real interest in being a slave short after six years?
Then we have verse 6 that's just .... well, I don't really know what to say about it because it's not very specific, though at the same time earily so: This spikeing, or piercing, or skewering of the slaves ear. Read in my languange, it's impossible to know for certain, but the wording that's used indicates a practice that would at the least make the man deaf. Though it could, if one were to read it with a good portion of benefit of the doubt, as mearly a practice that would give the man a badly disfigured ear. No where does it specify the size or kind of awl that's to be used. Niether does it specify where or how the ear is to be spiked - are we talking about a minor prick in the lower part of the outer ear - suitable for an chick earring. Or, are we talking about straight in to the ear canal? Or something inbetween?
As with the majority of this collection of texts that's called the bible, I find that the passages that actually give the case for gods benevolence and morality is far between and drowned in the abundance of the contrary. Yes, people tend to cherry-pick, but I'd argue that the amount of self-deceit it takes to cherry-pick in a poisoned orchard when there's a fully healthy one just one field over, is indeed not only unwise but indicative of something inherently harmful and unhealthy.
To finish off: If anyone's taken the time and effort to read this far: Thank you and I hope you found it worth while! Also, I'd highly recomend you to read Exodus 21:7-11 (i.e. the verses following directly upon those mentioned above). In which we get to enjoy the benevolence of God towards hebrew women. Yeah ... benevolence ... or...?
Thanks again to anyone's taken the time, and Cheers! =)

Anal Jihad They don’t need to change it because all they need to do is to confuse people by misinterpreting it and there is no shortage of people who are willing to be wilfully misguided with no urge to question anything they were presented. They would condemn a man in a dress but they’re happy to be wilfully twisting the interpretation of the Bible on supporting slavery, simply because they don’t like it, when in reality a dress has no gender! It’s a piece of fabric! And it’s the fact! 😋😋😂😂

All you have to do is believe that Jesus fulfilled the Law. Boom. All of the Old Testament Laws disappear as they are transferred into Jesus. No more hating anyone, slaves, or all the Old Testament Greatest Hits of Bible Bashing. If the translation is not in error in the meanings of what Jesus did? Then any Christian who holds to the Old Testament as the Will and Law of God? Is doing it wrong.
Thus the Old Testament becomes a reference document of the Old Ways and how things rolled - followed by the Reformer - and then the future that was meant to be had after the Reformation.

They do this quite often. They try using context and say it's unacceptable now, but then why do they condemn homosexuality or sex before marriage? Times have changed, haven't they? They only use modern society to benefit them and their morals, not when it affects other people. I saw a video by a channel call Girl Defined and they outright stated that braids may have been prohibited in the bible, but it's fine because times have changed. Again, it's only to benefit them.

God certainly had no trouble making himself clear when forbidding other things such as murder, false testimony, eating shrimp, homosexuality etc, so why didn't God come straight out and say unambiguously "Thou shalt not own another human being?" Apologists say that slavery was an intimate part of society back then - but so what!? Murder, lying and theft were also common back then yet God showed no concessions for that behaviour. If slavery wasn't as "bad" back then as during ante-bellum America, then why did God see the necessity to make rules limiting the beating of slaves? This is just special pleading by Christians.
