@Vice81 I think he did try to reinvent the wheel w/Fatal Fury. 2 planes of fighting and a 2P coop mode followed by VS. mode. The problem was he tried to reinvent SF 1 (when nobody cared) when he should have tried to reinvent SF 2.
AoF 1 was way fun, very tricky and fast if you were able to execute the moves since they had to be executed properly like in kof96, even better when in challenge mode you were able to pick any character. Sad part was, that only Jack, Robert, Mr Karate and Ryo were able to grab, That made him stronger :(

@xxpandamidknightxx Yeah, Street Fighter 1 wasn't that good. I stuck to playing the Ninja Turtles and WWF Wrestlefest arcade games until SF2 and then Fatal Fury came out. At the time I didn't know the history, but even I knew that something was up when I played FF and AOF and compared them to SF 1.
indeed you're right ! However, they were just planners, not the programmers. Street Fighter was the programmer's own failure ! The arcade hardware they used was really crap.
@xxpandamidknightxx It should be obvious to anyone that's played both games that they have similar mechanics, but most SF2 fans never even played the first game, LOL. Even though I probably played SF2 more, SNK games always had more 1 player replay value which to me says they're better fighting games. If I need a 2nd player to get any replay value, your game sucks.

this game was not designed for multiplayer. In part 2 they dumped the storyline so that you could use anyone.

He could have done that when he created Ryu in the first place, but he didnt do shabby on either game, as far as moves and personality goes.
i use to love mr big scene soundtrack.... and he use to be a real pain in the ass sometimes,,tougher than "mr karate"
