My 11 year old son is the biggest kid on the floor....he hasn't realized this yet. I don't get enough time with him. Every other weekend and a couple hours during the week aren't enough time for me to teach him to be a man, let alone time to teach how to go for the rebound. So I'm thankful for these videos. I'll be sending them to him
I grab lots of defensive rebounds without even jumping, because I do goob box outs that keep my man away from the basket. And I'm not counting all the times my teammates grab rebounds thanks to me.
He boxes out good but Not the best way of doing it. Best way is to bend your knees and then seal the guy behind you with your hands. It creates 2 foot space in which the other guy can't reach into because your butt is creating it. It also creates a clear path to jump and if he jumps with you its a foul on him. Bill Russell Red ball its on TH-cam. Bill Russell is 2nd all time in RPG and Rebounds.
Super helpful until the end where the tip is: easily get rid of a rebound when you're on offense by simply jumping over the guy defending you and dunking on him. Think that might be a bit beyond me for now!!
No, a moving screen is when you're setting a screen on a defender and you're moving. On a screen or "pick and roll" that's when you have to be still. What boxing out is, is you playing defense to try and get the rebound and start your teams offensive possession.
I found this video very useful. I like how he waits for his player to look away before he goes for the rebound

Good tutorial, needed a refresh after struggling, I like the idea of waiting for the defender to go after the rebound before reacting, good stuff.
