First saw this when I bought the Video Aid VHS compilation way back in the day. It had Culture Club, Ultravox, Paul Young, Frankie, Bananarama, Eurythmics, and more. This song most definitely has a _big boss groove!_
one of the classiest brass pop bands ever..... even better than Haircut 100 and that's a big call coz i think Pelican West is such a legendary brass pop album... Paul is a musical genius.
This is one of my absolute favorite Paul Weller songs~The lyrics are as true today as they were when this came out in the mid-eighties. It is such a brilliant riff on our ridiculous governments and our religious beliefs... And then he thoroughly cracks me up by dressing in sansabelt slacks and a teall green knock off Polo shirt. Bliley. I cannot look at this video without laughing but my God he got better at dressing himself!
The big brass thing was working at the time (see Sussudio and Would I Lie to You) and Paul Weller's look is cool (he pulls off white soul convincingly with the classic wear). Very ahead of their time, Style Council predicts the future with this song.
Get on up and keep posting in 1080p and/or put out a Style Council box set on bluray with surround sound too! Like the awesome Jam release. A Paul Weller solo video release too as long as I'm dreaming up a wish list here..
Dennis Munday Polydor A&R man strutting his stuff while Talbot and Weller in hysterics. I read somewhere that Dennis was reassured by them that his dancing scene was edited out of the final cut. However the next morning the band with Talbot and Weller grinning like Cheshire cats assembled at Polydor HQ to show the video to the Polydor executives. Dennis's scene was not edited out. How small must he felt when the executives saw that!
I always felt sorry for Mick. You can have the best tailors and designers providing you with one of the sharpest wardrobes in pop. But that hair was a permanent and unmitigated disaster, if I was him I'd have gone a number 2 all over and kept it like that permanently.
Here to look at Dennis Munday's dancing after reading his book. On another note, he has far too many digs at Weller in that book for my liking ... his singing .... his guitar playing .... his dancing (which is fair comment to be honest .... his humour ...his haircuts ...his moods. Yet he calls him a mate? Be surprised if Paul ever called him again after that book.
Paul Weller was a musician that was never led by his Audience.hes always said "this is what I'm going to do,if you'd like to come along, fantastic,if not That's fine too"
It was already beginning to be noticed at that moment, the chemistry between Paul and Dee
It drives me crazy when I hear them say
"Let us pray" 'cause I want my heaven here on earth
is my favorite line in any song ever
It's the dumpster fire of 2020 and this song is so true for today. ❤️🙌✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻
One of the most exciting Perth WA dance night club songs back in mid 1980's
Weller and Talbot were brilliant together wish they would make a few new tunes...class act
They actually did work together on Weller's On Sunset album I think

They were demonstrating that every ordinary bloke could be cool!

Me lembrou Commitments.
I'm not waiting for judgement day.Do something positive NOW!
why does they get the polo shirt into the bottom? |ω・`)チラ
Tucking that shirt in was a mistake....
For all the things Paul could do, dancing wasn't one of them.
he was good dancer
Paul was never a good mod dancer but who really cares with that voice of his
@@martin84125 I think he’s an amazing dancer tbh lol
Who is the other female singer ?
Julia Williamson. Only appeared in this and live in Japan. Style Council Far East Far Out.
Jaye Ella-Ruth
Paul Weller made the same mistake bob Geldof did thought he can become a politician
When Paul Weller sold his soul from ‘The Jam’ into pop music. Although still a pretty good tune.
Does the Word "MOD" tell u something?
Great song horrible video
He quit The Jam for this crap?
stupid comment
The style council were great, much better than stuff he did with the jam or his solo shite
@LastTrainToClarkson. This sounds similar to a Jam song. So what the hell are you talking about??
Twat
