I agree. He did have some input into the High Power although Dieudonné Saive completed it. I see the CZ75 as the DA evolution of the High Power so its not a stretch to imagine had JMB lived that long he would have done just that. Doing away with the swinging link was a huge improvement and is whats used on almost every modern handgun today.
It's probably been mentioned, but for field stripping the CZ 75, you can drop the hammer to its partially cocked position. Once there, when you pull back the slide, it stops on the hammer, precisely lining up the takedown notches, making field stripping much easier.
WinKee Manley I have one with the mag disconnect removed. The trigger on the pistol in this video is good enough that I probably won’t bother removing it.

I removed the mag disconnect on a piece of similar vintage but didn't notice a change in trigger pull. It had to go, nonetheless, because NRA Personal Protection course drills don't accommodate this "feature".
Presonally having tested both pistols in South Africa. I prefer the FN Browning HP. The CZ is a very good pistol,well made double action,drop down safety. Both pistols are very good🔫🔫👍
I knew the Browning inside out. It served me well in my Army days. It once saved my life. It is way old now of course, but is why I can sit here with a beer and tell you this. The other guy didn't like it so much. Edit: in the 15 years I used it, it never jammed on me once.
And people brag about Glock reliability! I've owned my BHP since 1987 and shot a number of local IPSC matches with it. I've recently acquired thr Springfield SA35 to be my new high power EDC.
God I hate trolls. John Browning was way ahead of his time it's clear that the cz75 was a copy. I own a 1911 and a high power and a cz75 and wouldn't part with any of them for the world. The history of John Browning is amazing almost all of our modern day guns are a copy in one way or another. Keep up the good work brother and I'll look forward to your next video.

@@kylewood8327 The SA-35 is fantastic in my hand and feels good. Also it is thin in dimensions and quite easy to carry concealed in and IWB holster and I do. I like the improvements made to the SA-35 dropping the magazine safety and improvement in the trigger. Also no or very minor hammer bite. The finish is a matte blue/black and I like it, it's very practical. The SA-35 is a really good deal for what it costs.
my brother has a browning, I have a CZ. I do like that smooth double action pull on the CZ (mine is an SP01, safety version). All in all, I prefer the CZ. sidenote - that notch for disassembly lines up when the CZ is in half-cock, and a magazine baseplate works well to press on the slide-stop from the other side.
Good video. A nice clear comparison, without any of the hype or the fumbling word salad that you usually see in these kinds of videos. I have them both and like them both. The Hi-Power with wood grips has a slimmer feel for concealed carry. I also have the CZ compact with de-cocker, my full sized CZ-75 has the standard safety. Both classics, both great handguns.
I own both with aftermarket triggers (C&S for the HP and CGW for the CZ) and both shoot great. My problem with the Hi-Power is the position of the thumb safety. It's set so far back in the frame, the back edge eats my thumb knuckle up when shooting with a high hold and my hand is hurting after about 50 rounds. The I start involuntarily altering my right hand grip looking for a less painful position. Whereas I could shoot the CZ all day in total comfort. The HP wins on looks but the CZ is the better shooter for me.
@dar'man beskar Ordo The advantage is that the Hi Power doubled the magazine capacity (7+1 for the 1911 compared to 13+1 for the Hi Power), and that it was much easier to field strip.
Good day Sir, I too own both of these fine pistols. Although I tend to lean more towards the Hi power I'm just glad that I can say, I have 2 of the very best pistols ever produced.
WOW! Two fantastic pistols here. I can’t choose! Both are legendary pistols worthy of praise, both of which are still relevant today, IMO. Nostalgia galore here for me. Love both these pistols. Can’t say that enough. Just have one of each.
I loved this video; great stuff! I learned handguns on a police pistol course with a revolver. I was very accustomed to DAO. I appreciate the safety factor of the DA/SA. I know Cocked and locked is safe, but I would always be afraid of the safety accidentally disengaging, into an unsafe state. For that reason, my EDC is a CZ pattern pistol. I still like the Hi-Power, but it just is not an everday solution for me.
Watching self defense videos it’s amazing how many ppl pull the trigger on a gun with the safety on. It’s. Going to be a stressful situation and it should be as straight forward as possible. I know this is a old comment but ppl still read them .

Excellent and informative video! I have a Pre-B CZ 75 that I got from the Rod and Gun club when I was in Germany. While I love the CZ, I doubt that it will compare to an FN manufacture. My CZ had a so-so painted finish. I subsequently had it Cerakoted, although it might have been more collectable if I had left it original. Good for you owning the real deal Browning Hi Power.
I bought one of my pre-B's from a retired Air Force guy who purchased it while stationing in West Germany during the 80's. Mine still has 90+ percent of the original finish with signs of moderate wear.

CZ 75 B is the first gun my dad's friend ever taught me to field strip and clean. Ever since I've loved CZ especially the 75 B because the gun is just sexy... I then learnt about 1911s and fell in love with them because the same design and bigger caliber and then I learnt about the browing high-power and I had to have all of em.
The Browning Hi-Power is arguably the “AK” of military sidearms. While technologically dated, it is still a viable combat implement, and also like the AK, it is very reliable, as well as easy to maintain and operate. Finally, again like the AK, it is the most widely used weapon in its class.
@@lukayaroslav9914 Can’t agree. I can see what you’re saying looking at the caliber itself. .45 ACP to 9mm is sort of analogous to 7.62x39mm to 5.56 NATO. But looking at the platform, the comparison falls apart. While very popular here in the US, the M1911 was not adopted by very many militaries outside of the US. But just as the AK was the most popular individual infantry weapon in history, so too was the Hi-Power the most widely used military sidearm in history. Also, just as the AK is known for being very easy to field strip and maintain, so too is the Hi-Power. I own both the Hi-Power and the M1911, and I can attest to the fact that while maintaining the M1911 isn’t rocket science, the Hi-Power is definitely easier.
A difference worth noting is the "B" in the CZ 75B, that stands for "Block" as in "internal firing pin safety block". That makes the CZ more drop safe than the HI-Power as the firing pin cannot move forward without the trigger being pulled back. That and SA/DA vs SAO are the biggest differences afaict.
There are other design changes too. I own a BHP, original CZ-75 and CZ-75B. The B also has the ribbed slide, hooked trigger guard and much improved grips. The later mags don't fit the early guns either.
I have the CZ 40 P and I would say, for me, it is the second most accurate pistol after the 1911. I am particular to SA/DA with a safety or decocker, so I can carry one in the pipe. If I don't have safety, my barrel is empty. Also the CZ fits in my hand much more comfortable. People that have not touched a CZ are impressed with the pistol grip contour. Even the Sig E2 grips on my P220 do not match the CZ comfort.
I have them both, love both, not better with either one, good with both. Acquired a Sig Sauer P210, & Sig Sauer p229, now will have fun comparing. Retirement, the good times!👌🏻👍🏻🙃
I own both of these hand guns. All in all I would say I like them equally. Haven't fired my Hi Power that much because I just bought it recently a month and a half ago. Spent more than I intended to, but it was worth it.

Great video. If I were looking for a single action pistol I would still get the 1911 over the HiPower because of the trigger. I just love the way it pull straight back instead of pivoting. And by the way I do love my CZ's :)
Enjoy your channel being a recent subscriber, have owned both of these fine guns, my CZ75D is a compact and I have always been a fan of the P35. Overall I believe the CZ is the more accurate, slide riding in the frame like the SIG P210, however to select one from the other your correct very tough. The P35 is overall smaller due to SA mechanism, but both are amongst the best combat/military 9mm service pistols ever designed, cant go wrong with either
To disassemble CZ first get trigger to half-cocked position. That way alignment of the slide is achieved simply by sliding back until touching the trigger. Pushing out that slide release is difficult for brand new guns until you work it enough.
Out of the box, my BHP needs to have: 1 magazine disconnector removed, 2. trigger pull weight lightened, 3. hammer bite problem resolved. The last two problems are not easy to remedy. But the grip size and trigger reach are the best of all my pistols, although the hammer still draws blood on my medium size hand.
Great video! Both firearms are superb in my opinion. I do not own a Hi Power but I do have a CZ 75 SP-01 and I love it. It fits my hand like a glove and shoots silky smooth with very little felt recoil. My CZ is my favorite semi auto pistol. Again, I don't think you could go wrong with either pistol.
Yep. they're both good choices. It basically comes down to a decision about whether you want a double-action trigger mode (i.e second strike capability) and/or if you are comfortable with manipulating the safety on a single-action.
I recently acquired a 1940 NAZI BUILT HP with rare tangent site. Shoots just as well as my tricked-out MKIII SC Comp Gun. However, never fire any +P factory ammo. 😅 However
I own a CZ 75 P-01 and a Hi-Power. They both fit my had and shoot great. The CZ 75 (not the P-01) holds 3 more rounds than the Hi-Power. I like double action pistols for their ability to shoot single action as well. I prefer DA pistols for the safety of having the pistol loaded and ready to shoot just like a revolver and with the long trigger pull in lieu of having the mechanical safety on. I have never had to use the double strike feature of a DA but it is another nice feature to have. Both are great pistols as is evidence by their popularity and history. Too bad Browning is not making the Hi-Power any more. It's longevity may never match it's older brother the 1911. Those of us who own a Hi-Power are glad we do. In my opinion the CZ 75 wins out although a much newer design but, the Hi-Power wins prior to 1975.
The only value I can see to DA is the double-strike feature. I've had to use it a few times, due entirely to a weak hammer spring, but not enough reason to put up with the additional complexity, and dealing with two trigger actions. HPs have been in production long enough that there should be plenty to go around for generations to come.
I have owned my Hi Power since 1978 and use it on a regular basis at my shooting club. Also own a 1911 Colt Government model since 1980. My son has now joined the shooting club and he will be buying a CZ P07 for EDC as well as shooting at the club.
I've had a used NATO stamped hi- power since 98. Changed out the plastic pac to improve MY hand comfort and improved my accuracy by a lot- fat contoured pac. Comfort & control increased 100%. ● I learned something about taking down my Browning watching this video. Always watch. ● if your hi- power begins to jam the ejector needs to be cleaned. My thinking it was clips ---threw away some perfectly good clips I'm sure. Check the schematics the ejector...is almost invisible. Lol Pull the barrel out , hold the barrel housing upside down take a toothpick ...the teeter totter part has a knotch at one end that catches the shell end to eject. ...90% of you guys know this - I didnt- until at a gun range a Browning guy showed me.
Actually I believe the CZ that you have right there in the video is a much more simple version of the original with the Omega system which has far less parts as far as I know but I do know what you mean about the Browning hi-power I love it for the reason that it's robust and very simple and makes things very easy
I prefer the BHP. It's all about fit and function. Mine functions flawlessly. And it fits me perfect. To each their own. Very similar to shotguns. I shoulder my Browning Maxus better than any other semi automatic shotgun.
I have had the good fortune to own and carry both..the hp was my choice to carry in viet nam 66-69 and after, and the cz is my choice today. I prefer the da-sa and larger mag capacity of the cz. Both fit my hand !ike they were made to fit me, and the triffling extra weight of the cz is of no consequence to me.
I gotta agree with your conclusions on this, HR. I never was a Browning Hi-Power fan from my days working in a sporting goods store back in the '70s, but some good changes have been brought about recently and I feel myself beginning to change my mind.
I have both pistols..I want to sell one of them..but I don't know what to do..every time I think about getting rid of one of them I can't..I prefer CZ75 for shooting..bur for beauty, it is definitely BHP
First of I know this is older video and I just found and bought a CZ 75B. I still choose a CZ 75B over the Browning. Because it's a double/single action and if I shot a round that has a hard primer I have second strike capabilities or third or fourth depending on how hard the primer is. Plus with either gun if you run out of ammo, then you can melee aka pistol whip your attacker.
H.R. Funk, I just really enjoy your videos! They so easy for my old ears to understand and you are right to the point of what I want to know. I've never had a original Browning HP or the CZ75 but I know they are both great pistols. I do own a Springfield Armory SA-35 and would NOT trade it for a million dollars, don't need the money and just love they way it points and shoots. And that it's so thin and lightweight for and all steel pistol, and can be carried in an IWB holster which I have. Thanks for your videos and leading me to HOP Ammo, I bought several boxes. Mk
I've only shot and carried the CZ75B, but found its trigger pull smooth and consistent straight from the box. I was told that CZ had a machine that dry-fired their pistols multiple times in a bath of oil to achieve that slick slide action and smooth trigger. I've also been informed that a stock Hi-Power requires gunsmith work to reach that level of smoothness. So, before watching the video, I'd say that the CZ75 is the best, but the Hi-Power has a longer history of successful adoption and use around the world and remains one of the great classics of handgun history.
Generally, I prefer having the DA option on a modern pistol. But the High Power has been on my bucket-list forever. Finally last fall, I snagged a nice 1990 commercial High Power, blued with target sights - for $400, out the door!
I would take the Hi-Power every time. The Hi-Power is lighter, faster, and as you noted, points better. I have also noticed that the Hi-Power's safety catch is just a little easier to thumb off for those of us with smaller hands... CZ moved theirs forward just a fraction. I prefer a single action (training vs. lowest common denominator as deciding factor in weapon choice). And the fact that the HI-Power is just a little slimmer and lighter makes it a better choice for a full-size concealed carry pistol. The OLDER Hi-Powers (pre- Mk. III) did have a pretty bad trigger. FN did a good job of smoothing it out on the Mk. III. With the older ones, getting a competent gunsmith to remove the magazine safety and clean up the bearing surfaces could make a huge difference. I had one that was cleaned up to a glass-rod sub-3 lb. break. Finally, the Browning has been around for forty years longer than the CZ, and has proven itself in countless conflicts around the globe. There are still nations issuing it to their military personnel, including Canada. If the FN-FAL rifle was the "right arm of freedom", I would argue that the Hi-Power was the left! The Hi-Power is also one of a VERY short list of pistols that I have personally chosen to carry for "serious" purposes in the past. And that's not a decision I made lightly.
I love the CZ pistols. For some reason thet are really hot right now! I'm down to (3) pistols. 1. Colt Gold Cup (2) Ballester Molina (3) Smith & Wesson 659. But i want a CZ compact! Great video as always! I've never had a a Hi- Power. Maybe one day I'll get lucky! Keep up the great work Sir.
The CZs can be tuned easily by swapping in CZ Custom or Cajun Gun Works parts. Not as easy as a Glock, but generally easier than a High Power. Although the High Power target model shot well for me, the trigger pull seemed to be in the 7 or 8 pound range, while the single action of a CZ-75 might be under 4 pounds straight from the box.
Yup. That 1st. Double action pull was the killer time wise. Hate the damn decocker. Why when I looked at the EAA witness, and discovered I could carry it cocked, and locked like I do my 1911, it was bye, bye CZ75. LOL Haven't looked back. Much prefer the Witness over the Hi power for its better accuracy with the the lower bore axis, slide riding within the frame, and the full length rails. Cocked & locked carry though made it my go to 9mm. 😎
It is tough!! I own the CZ 75BD... and love it, I've tried my own "fail tests" with mixed bullet types ( FMJ, HP, LRN, Truncated etc)and weights in the same mag load.. and it always runs like a singer sewing machine! That said my ex bro in law had a Hi-Power.. shot it and loved it too! Hit well with it first time out.. it's a "natural". I chose the CZ in the end, because I don't have to worry about "taking the safety off" in a "stressful" ( as in an unexpected self defense use) situation. in decock mode. pull gun, pull trigger.. that's it,. one less thing to mess you up when the adrenaline hits... but that's just me. Loved my hi-power until I handled a CD 75B hi polish SS. I really like the single action/double action capabilities of the CD. You can load mag and one in chamber, lower to half cock and then fire off in double action or cock and have single action accuracy. Accuracy of both pistols were equal.
Well, it's 2020 now... I have had my Browning knock-off (DGFM) 9mm for almost 21 years now... I can't count how many rounds and cleanings I have put it through... I love this pistol... I qualified with it for my CWP and it just feels good in my grip and is easy to break down and clean...
Both pistols are fine and reliable. The P-35 does handle well, certain models will give you hammer bite because of either the large ring hammer, or the standard spur hammer being fairly long. Older P-35s made before the Mark III are also made of softer steel, I knew of one man that managed to loosen the pressed-in cam in the frame. I do think that the CZ does feel heavier and thicker as Mr. Funk stated. No free lunch, more rounds in the magazine, the bulkier it will be. I do like the grip angle just a tad better as it's less vertical than the P-35s, and also prefer the thumb safety location that sits right under your distal joint of the thumb without requiring an extended lever to be ergonomically correct. The CZ's slide that runs within the frame also sits a bit higher than the P-35s, and thus the slide will never bite you no matter how high your grip is on the frame. I do not care much for the DA trigger pull, as it is long and stagey, and the SA pull is usually creepy too while also camming back slightly before sear release. A good smith can make that pull great though, though there is more total trigger travel inherent in this DA/SA design compared to the HP. There haven't been any steel issues in the CZ I am aware of even under lots of rounds fired. Biggest difference is the width of the pistols. The CZ is a bit of a thick beast that is probably best carried in an OWB or duty holster, while the comparatively svelte P-35 can easily be worn IWB if so desired. Thus, it is a handier carry pistol. Decsions, decisions. Either will serve you well though I'd prefer the later Mk II or Mk III versions of the P-35 for the improvement of steel hardness and durability plus the better sights fitted. A crying shame it is now relegated to the history books though.
I would prefer a double action. In my time a buddy thinkered with the sear of his High Power and carried cocked and locked. The gun went off while caried tucked rear belt
"Tinkering" with the sear of a Hi Power (or any other pistol for that matter) is not something I would ever recommend. It can lead to just that kind of mishap. Un-tinkered Hi Powers are as safe as pretty much any other handgun given proper handling by the user.
I caught this video because I have both of those guns and wanted to hear someone else's pros and cons regarding them. Not mentioned was the difficulty returning the CZ-75 to single-action mode without a de-cocker, but maybe that's just me. I had wanted a CZ-75 since Jeff Cooper brought them to my attention in Guns & Ammo many years ago, before they were available in the U.S. What struck me most about his article is that "Mr. 1911" actually praised a 9mm! He may have done so somewhere, but I don't recall reading Cooper ever praising the Hi-Power. I carry my Hi-Power because I can shoot it the best of all my handguns. It feels good in my hand and always seems to line up perfectly when aiming. The CZ-75B is close and maybe after shooting 10,000+ rounds through it, I'll like it just as much as my Hi-Power.
I have 1 of each and they are as good as it gets. You have to go to a hand fitted 1911 to surpass the function of either. The used Browning HP market is going up fast and the supply is getting tighter. The CZ is still in production but sometimes hard to find. So when you get a good example Keep it! Thanks for the video.
I've owned both. For me the CZ-75 (original) fits a little better. I used it for my CCW some years ago and did very well. But I like my Mk II also! It's a nice comparison presentation.
With much respect to Browning, these guns are 40 years apart and the CZ is the clear winner in terms of action DA/SA and capacity (17+1 or greater). It's an effective tie for the first 14 rounds, until the HP needs a reload. You get 4+ more shots with the CZ... could make a big difference. To make the HP trigger competitive the mag disconnect must be removed. Like HPs. LOVE CZs.
The fact that the BHP design is now 87 years old and holding its own against designs that have had the benefit of well over 8 decades of technological advances says all I need to know. Seems the BHP remains the gold benchmark of design, function and reliability. I'm honored to currently be entrusted with one. i say that because it will no doubt outlive me, but not until I fire it again in 2035, the 100th anniversary of its release. GOD I love America! 🇺🇸
It is not a clone...since HP having SA and 75 SA/DA, it differs in one of the most important things. Congrats, Shadows are very well made evolution of basic 75Bs. Once You will see it in the shop, try Orange (TS). Completely hand-made gun for some 2k dollars.
Would be good to see a soldier do some running and move to target. See what range to engage a half figure target and see how many hits. Adreline running when getting shot at must be a good test of the weapon and shooter.
Great question! That might just be the topic of a future video. In general terms, I think the Hi Power is still going to win on feel and point-ability; the CZ is probably going to be the best in terms of trigger pull; and, the Beretta is going to be the most reliable of the three. For accuracy, I would have to actually shoot them to find out, but based on past experience, it would be a close race.
heres another cool thing on the CZ ... you dont need the takedown marks since at half-cock the slide runs into the hammer AT THE SAME POINT so you can do it w/o looking -- makes me wonder if they knew but added the marks anyway
Yes to Brody high-powered you have to carry it cocked and locked.. you have to disengage the safety to engage your target the CZ grab & go !!! That's my personal opinion ATC back two different point of views are welcome !!! I'm wondering what everybody else is thinking..
I personally think that the best cz-75 model for everyday carring is cz-75 D compact PCR. It is not in production anymore,so who moved his ass quickly and got it,should not sell it.
I don't care about the test I have 30 years of familiarity with my Hi Power and feels good in my hand when drawing and firing from a waist holster or shoulder holster. I have never had a failure to fire with this pistol.
I agree. I never endorse the purchase of non-top-quality firearms, but both the BHP and the CZ 75B are long-proven and outstanding autoloaders. In every performance and design aspect, they were near-identical (too little difference to make a difference). However, that 2X cost differential is substantial. I’d also mention that the CZ’s “inverted rail” design (which wasn’t mentioned) imho provides a more precise barrel alignment and lock-up.
Its worth pointing out for prospective buyers that the CZ is easier to disassemble using magazines that have plastic baseplates. For example, my Mec-gar mags work great. Sadly I had already scratched the pistols finish before I figured that out.
three years later the jury is in, CZ-75 wins! no hammer bite and higher capacity. but, if you wear gloves you don't feel the hammer bite so theres that.
I have owned a Browning Hi Power for over 40 years, an excellent pistol which I used at club level. Six months ago I bought a CZ P07 for every day carry.
another way to do 5:50 is to put it on half-cock then just retract the slide and itll match the takedown marks w/o looking when the slide touches the hammer
I believe the CZ should have shot from cocked and locked as the Hi-Power was, they can both be carried in that condition so they should both be shot that way. This would have been a much more accurate comparison of these 2 pistols.
As usual, i find myself in near total agreement with you. I own 1911's, an SA-35, and a SAR B6 (CZ clone)... Love them all. SA-35 so far is the softest shooting 9 mm I've ever handled, personally.

Well, in my informal "test", the wallet test, the High Power wins 2-0. No CZ75s but I do own two HPs, an Argentine FM (licenced by FN) and a Mark III with the Browning rollmark not FN. I do admit he CZ also is a classic. Excellent video as usual!
It's a real toss up for me. I own a CZ75B (an Omega identical to the one in your video) and I love it, but I think I like the Hi Power a little better after shooting my grandfathers T series from 1968. Both are fantastic sidearms and either one would serve you well.
Thank you for this interesting video. There is a few points that I would like to comment: - The Cz 75 has one additional "ancestor", i.e. the SIG P210 (and the petter-Neuhausen licence). The P210 also has the inside rails and the same system of "lintless" tilting barrel. And, although the final model had a single stack magazine, there was several double stack prototypes. - Removing the magazine safety of the GP-35 is very useful for a reason not mentioned in this video: it makes the trigger a lot better and lighter. This is someting know for decades, especially by IPSC shooters. - The GP35 has a serious weakness: its slide is fragile and it tends to break between 10 and 15 thousand rounds. I've seen it happening during IPSC matches and the shooters were not even surprised (they had backup pistols ready for this precise reasons). - On the other hand, the Cz 75 has a strong reputation for toughness, reliability and durability not only in competition but also in combat all over the world. It's not that the GP-35 is a bad pistol. It is a classic and has a very good reputation for solid reasons. But its fragility is a serious weakness and even its more dedicated defenders (IPSC competitors and the british SAS) left it at home since a long time.
Thanks for the comment Marie! In the video, I was trying to compare the two pistols in "as issued" condition. That's why I didn't mention removing the magazine disconnect safety on the GP-35. Also, the service life of the GP-35 can be increased by regular replacement of the recoil spring. That said, I agree with you. The CZ75 is a great pistol. Thanks for watching!
I bought a hi power brand new back in the 1970’s. I traded it in about 7 years years ago toward a Cz 75 with the omega trigger. Cz maintenance is simpler although it’s not a deal killer. Accuracy on both are excellent but I believe the Cz is a little more accurate. One thing I did find was the hi power was more sensitive to different ammo as far as jamming which I didn’t have with the Cz. I don’t agree with the author on take down. I found the factory Cz grips uncomfortable which I changed out along with the sights.
Fun video and a nice comparison. I was recently faced with this choice in an actual purchase decision between a new commercial Hi-Power and a CZ-75B. It was a tough choice until I considered that at CZ's law enforcement price, I could buy two CZ-75B's for the price of one Hi-Power, or put that money into ammo, leather, and spare magazines, which is what I did. Of course, the version I chose does not require me to carry hammer down if I don't want to, so it is a more apples to apples comparison. The CZ does hold a couple more rounds than the Browning, and doesn't have the magazine safety, which I think accounts for the better SA trigger pull on the CZ. But on the downside, the CZ has less real estate on the slide to grab while racking than the Hi-Power. After arthritis sets in, this is a bit of an issue. If the Hi-Power were a bit less expensive, it would be a harder choice for me, but at today's prices, CZ was a no-brainer for me.
You got a good pistol! I meant to mention the difference in magazine capacity and it slipped my mind. The price of the Hi Power is one of the things that I think is contributing to its demise. Even so, it's sad to see it passing. Thanks for the comment!
After having both of those guns I think I prefer the CZ 75 mostly because of the DA/SA but the HI Power is a damn beautiful gun though. I would be happy with either of those guns
Hard to believe you picked my two favorite 9mm pistols, I have owned a P35 for about 40 years and just bought a new Springfield High Power, have owned that for about a year or so now. The CZ is another extremely awesome pistol I have been shooting a CZ 75 for about 20 years now and like the P35 it shoots extremely well is very well built and I shoot both very well. I dont know why this is but but when I am going out coyote/Fox or Deer hunting I always carry a side arm and my go to side arm for the majority of these applications is the P35. I dont have a reason that I can tell you why, maybe its because I have owned and shot the P35 so long it just feels a but more natural to me? Anybody buying a regular sized 9 mm pistol could not go wrong with either of these extremely fine pistols!!

I've always maintained that the CZ-75 is what John Browning would have designed if he'd lived another 20 years.
I agree. He did have some input into the High Power although Dieudonné Saive completed it. I see the CZ75 as the DA evolution of the High Power so its not a stretch to imagine had JMB lived that long he would have done just that. Doing away with the swinging link was a huge improvement and is whats used on almost every modern handgun today.
Man just imagine what else he would have pumped out with 20 extra years! The guy was incredible!
It's probably been mentioned, but for field stripping the CZ 75, you can drop the hammer to its partially cocked position. Once there, when you pull back the slide, it stops on the hammer, precisely lining up the takedown notches, making field stripping much easier.

If you cock the hammer and line the notches up you can put the saftey on which will hold it almost in line similar to the hi power.
To me, nothing points like a Hi-Power. Have both, my 2 favorite handguns, but nothing beats the Hi-Power.
I have a FN Hi Power manufactured in 1976.
I removed the magazine disconnector and this vastly improved the trigger pull.
WinKee Manley I have one with the mag disconnect removed. The trigger on the pistol in this video is good enough that I probably won’t bother removing it.

Hi-Power is another design that is worthy to be copied . The Cz-75 is also great .
I removed the mag disconnect on a piece of similar vintage but didn't notice a change in trigger pull. It had to go, nonetheless, because NRA Personal Protection course drills don't accommodate this "feature".

I prefer the FN Browning HP.

I almost never use the double action feature. My hands are too small. CZ 75 in SA is better than the factory Hi-Power trigger.
I knew the Browning inside out. It served me well in my Army days. It once saved my life. It is way old now of course, but is why I can sit here with a beer and tell you this. The other guy didn't like it so much. Edit: in the 15 years I used it, it never jammed on me once.
And people brag about Glock reliability! I've owned my BHP since 1987 and shot a number of local IPSC matches with it. I've recently acquired thr Springfield SA35 to be my new high power EDC.

God I hate trolls. John Browning was way ahead of his time it's clear that the cz75 was a copy. I own a 1911 and a high power and a cz75 and wouldn't part with any of them for the world.

@@kylewood8327 The SA-35 is fantastic in my hand and feels good. Also it is thin in dimensions and quite easy to carry concealed in and IWB holster and I do. I like the improvements made to the SA-35 dropping the magazine safety and improvement in the trigger. Also no or very minor hammer bite. The finish is a matte blue/black and I like it, it's very practical. The SA-35 is a really good deal for what it costs.
I'll stick with my old Browning. It just fits!

my brother has a browning, I have a CZ. I do like that smooth double action pull on the CZ (mine is an SP01, safety version). All in all, I prefer the CZ.
sidenote - that notch for disassembly lines up when the CZ is in half-cock, and a magazine baseplate works well to press on the slide-stop from the other side.
Put the hammer in the half cocked position to line up the marks for disassembly.

I have them both and like them both. The Hi-Power with wood grips has a slimmer feel for concealed carry. I also have the CZ compact with de-cocker, my full sized CZ-75 has the standard safety. Both classics, both great handguns.

I own both with aftermarket triggers (C&S for the HP and CGW for the CZ) and both shoot great. My problem with the Hi-Power is the position of the thumb safety. It's set so far back in the frame, the back edge eats my thumb knuckle up when shooting with a high hold and my hand is hurting after about 50 rounds. The I start involuntarily altering my right hand grip looking for a less painful position. Whereas I could shoot the CZ all day in total comfort. The HP wins on looks but the CZ is the better shooter for me.
I have that same issue. And for me the CZ75 is the most comfortable pistol in my hand, like it was molded just for me.

I have the cz75b and have not regretted the purchase. Fits my hand well and love it. No issues and fires excellent. Easy breakdown and cleaning.
WOW! Two fantastic pistols here. I can’t choose! Both are legendary pistols worthy of praise, both of which are still relevant today, IMO. Nostalgia galore here for me. Love both these pistols. Can’t say that enough. Just have one of each.

I loved this video; great stuff! I learned handguns on a police pistol course with a revolver. I was very accustomed to DAO. I appreciate the safety factor of the DA/SA. I know Cocked and locked is safe, but I would always be afraid of the safety accidentally disengaging, into an unsafe state. For that reason, my EDC is a CZ pattern pistol. I still like the Hi-Power, but it just is not an everday solution for me.
Watching self defense videos it’s amazing how many ppl pull the trigger on a gun with the safety on. It’s. Going to be a stressful situation and it should be as straight forward as possible. I know this is a old comment but ppl still read them .

Excellent and informative video! I have a Pre-B CZ 75 that I got from the Rod and Gun club when I was in Germany. While I love the CZ, I doubt that it will compare to an FN manufacture. My CZ had a so-so painted finish. I subsequently had it Cerakoted, although it might have been more collectable if I had left it original. Good for you owning the real deal Browning Hi Power.
I bought one of my pre-B's from a retired Air Force guy who purchased it while stationing in West Germany during the 80's. Mine still has 90+ percent of the original finish with signs of moderate wear.

CZ 75 B is the first gun my dad's friend ever taught me to field strip and clean. Ever since I've loved CZ especially the 75 B because the gun is just sexy... I then learnt about 1911s and fell in love with them because the same design and bigger caliber and then I learnt about the browing high-power and I had to have all of em.

I can see what you’re saying looking at the caliber itself. .45 ACP to 9mm is sort of analogous to 7.62x39mm to 5.56 NATO.
But looking at the platform, the comparison falls apart. While very popular here in the US, the M1911 was not adopted by very many militaries outside of the US. But just as the AK was the most popular individual infantry weapon in history, so too was the Hi-Power the most widely used military sidearm in history. Also, just as the AK is known for being very easy to field strip and maintain, so too is the Hi-Power. I own both the Hi-Power and the M1911, and I can attest to the fact that while maintaining the M1911 isn’t rocket science, the Hi-Power is definitely easier.

A difference worth noting is the "B" in the CZ 75B, that stands for "Block" as in "internal firing pin safety block". That makes the CZ more drop safe than the HI-Power as the firing pin cannot move forward without the trigger being pulled back. That and SA/DA vs SAO are the biggest differences afaict.
There are other design changes too. I own a BHP, original CZ-75 and CZ-75B. The B also has the ribbed slide, hooked trigger guard and much improved grips. The later mags don't fit the early guns either.
I have the CZ 40 P and I would say, for me, it is the second most accurate pistol after the 1911. I am particular to SA/DA with a safety or decocker, so I can carry one in the pipe. If I don't have safety, my barrel is empty. Also the CZ fits in my hand much more comfortable. People that have not touched a CZ are impressed with the pistol grip contour. Even the Sig E2 grips on my P220 do not match the CZ comfort.
I don't own a High Power (yet). But I own several (more than 6) CZ pistols, and I absolutely love em. (9 mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP). Good video, HR.

Great video. If I were looking for a single action pistol I would still get the 1911 over the HiPower because of the trigger. I just love the way it pull straight back instead of pivoting. And by the way I do love my CZ's :)

Overall I believe the CZ is the more accurate, slide riding in the frame like the SIG P210, however to select one from the other your correct very tough. The P35 is overall smaller due to SA mechanism, but both are amongst the best combat/military 9mm service pistols ever designed, cant go wrong with either

Excellent video , I agree I’ve fired both of these types of handguns & the Hi Power feels more natural to me .
It does to me as well, but the difference is very small.
To disassemble CZ first get trigger to half-cocked position. That way alignment of the slide is achieved simply by sliding back until touching the trigger. Pushing out that slide release is difficult for brand new guns until you work it enough.
Out of the box, my BHP needs to have: 1 magazine disconnector removed, 2. trigger pull weight lightened, 3. hammer bite problem resolved. The last two problems are not easy to remedy. But the grip size and trigger reach are the best of all my pistols, although the hammer still draws blood on my medium size hand.
Great video! Both firearms are superb in my opinion. I do not own a Hi Power but I do have a CZ 75 SP-01 and I love it. It fits my hand like a glove and shoots silky smooth with very little felt recoil. My CZ is my favorite semi auto pistol. Again, I don't think you could go wrong with either pistol.
Yep. they're both good choices. It basically comes down to a decision about whether you want a double-action trigger mode (i.e second strike capability) and/or if you are comfortable with manipulating the safety on a single-action.
I recently acquired a 1940 NAZI BUILT HP with rare tangent site. Shoots just as well as my tricked-out MKIII SC Comp Gun. However, never fire any +P factory ammo. 😅 However
I own a CZ 75 P-01 and a Hi-Power. They both fit my had and shoot great. The CZ 75 (not the P-01) holds 3 more rounds than the Hi-Power. I like double action pistols for their ability to shoot single action as well. I prefer DA pistols for the safety of having the pistol loaded and ready to shoot just like a revolver and with the long trigger pull in lieu of having the mechanical safety on. I have never had to use the double strike feature of a DA but it is another nice feature to have. Both are great pistols as is evidence by their popularity and history. Too bad Browning is not making the Hi-Power any more. It's longevity may never match it's older brother the 1911. Those of us who own a Hi-Power are glad we do. In my opinion the CZ 75 wins out although a much newer design but, the Hi-Power wins prior to 1975.

The only value I can see to DA is the double-strike feature. I've had to use it a few times, due entirely to a weak hammer spring, but not enough reason to put up with the additional complexity, and dealing with two trigger actions. HPs have been in production long enough that there should be plenty to go around for generations to come.

I have owned my Hi Power since 1978 and use it on a regular basis at my shooting club.
Also own a 1911 Colt Government model since 1980.
My son has now joined the shooting club and he will be buying a CZ P07 for EDC as well as shooting at the club.

I've had a used NATO stamped hi- power since 98. Changed out the plastic pac to improve MY hand comfort and improved my accuracy by a lot- fat contoured pac. Comfort & control increased 100%.

● if your hi- power begins to jam the ejector needs to be cleaned. My thinking it was clips ---threw away some perfectly good clips I'm sure.
Check the schematics the ejector...is almost invisible. Lol
Pull the barrel out , hold the barrel housing upside down take a toothpick ...the teeter totter part has a knotch at one end that catches the shell end to eject.
...90% of you guys know this - I didnt- until at a gun range a Browning guy showed me.

Actually I believe the CZ that you have right there in the video is a much more simple version of the original with the Omega system which has far less parts as far as I know but I do know what you mean about the Browning hi-power I love it for the reason that it's robust and very simple and makes things very easy
I prefer the BHP. It's all about fit and function. Mine functions flawlessly. And it fits me perfect. To each their own. Very similar to shotguns. I shoulder my Browning Maxus better than any other semi automatic shotgun.
I have had the good fortune to own and carry both..the hp was my choice to carry in viet nam 66-69 and after, and the cz is my choice today. I prefer the da-sa and larger mag capacity of the cz. Both fit my hand !ike they were made to fit me, and the triffling extra weight of the cz is of no consequence to me.

I gotta agree with your conclusions on this, HR. I never was a Browning Hi-Power fan from my days working in a sporting goods store back in the '70s, but some good changes have been brought about recently and I feel myself beginning to change my mind.
The CZ75 Omega shown in the video is slightly heavier than the standard model.
I have both pistols..I want to sell one of them..but I don't know what to do..every time I think about getting rid of one of them I can't..I prefer CZ75 for shooting..bur for beauty, it is definitely BHP
My advice would be to keep them both. Most likely, if you sell either one, you will end up regretting it.
First of I know this is older video and I just found and bought a CZ 75B. I still choose a CZ 75B over the Browning. Because it's a double/single action and if I shot a round that has a hard primer I have second strike capabilities or third or fourth depending on how hard the primer is. Plus with either gun if you run out of ammo, then you can melee aka pistol whip your attacker.
H.R. Funk, I just really enjoy your videos! They so easy for my old ears to understand and you are right to the point of what I want to know. I've never had a original Browning HP or the CZ75 but I know they are both great pistols. I do own a Springfield Armory SA-35 and would NOT trade it for a million dollars, don't need the money and just love they way it points and shoots. And that it's so thin and lightweight for and all steel pistol, and can be carried in an IWB holster which I have.

I've only shot and carried the CZ75B, but found its trigger pull smooth and consistent straight from the box. I was told that CZ had a machine that dry-fired their pistols multiple times in a bath of oil to achieve that slick slide action and smooth trigger.
I've also been informed that a stock Hi-Power requires gunsmith work to reach that level of smoothness.
So, before watching the video, I'd say that the CZ75 is the best, but the Hi-Power has a longer history of successful adoption and use around the world and remains one of the great classics of handgun history.
I love my CZs, but I did add a full cajun trigger upgrade and they are an absolute joy to shoot.
I keep thinking about doing that, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Generally, I prefer having the DA option on a modern pistol. But the High Power has been on my bucket-list forever. Finally last fall, I snagged a nice 1990 commercial High Power, blued with target sights - for $400, out the door!

I would take the Hi-Power every time.
The Hi-Power is lighter, faster, and as you noted, points better. I have also noticed that the Hi-Power's safety catch is just a little easier to thumb off for those of us with smaller hands... CZ moved theirs forward just a fraction. I prefer a single action (training vs. lowest common denominator as deciding factor in weapon choice). And the fact that the HI-Power is just a little slimmer and lighter makes it a better choice for a full-size concealed carry pistol.
The OLDER Hi-Powers (pre- Mk. III) did have a pretty bad trigger. FN did a good job of smoothing it out on the Mk. III. With the older ones, getting a competent gunsmith to remove the magazine safety and clean up the bearing surfaces could make a huge difference. I had one that was cleaned up to a glass-rod sub-3 lb. break.
Finally, the Browning has been around for forty years longer than the CZ, and has proven itself in countless conflicts around the globe. There are still nations issuing it to their military personnel, including Canada. If the FN-FAL rifle was the "right arm of freedom", I would argue that the Hi-Power was the left!
The Hi-Power is also one of a VERY short list of pistols that I have personally chosen to carry for "serious" purposes in the past. And that's not a decision I made lightly.

I love the CZ pistols. For some reason thet are really hot right now! I'm down to (3) pistols. 1. Colt Gold Cup (2) Ballester Molina (3) Smith & Wesson 659. But i want a CZ compact! Great video as always! I've never had a a Hi- Power. Maybe one day I'll get lucky! Keep up the great work Sir.

The CZs can be tuned easily by swapping in CZ Custom or Cajun Gun Works parts. Not as easy as a Glock, but generally easier than a High Power. Although the High Power target model shot well for me, the trigger pull seemed to be in the 7 or 8 pound range, while the single action of a CZ-75 might be under 4 pounds straight from the box.
Yup. That 1st. Double action pull was the killer time wise. Hate the damn decocker. Why when I looked at the EAA witness, and discovered I could carry it cocked, and locked like I do my 1911, it was bye, bye CZ75. LOL Haven't looked back. Much prefer the Witness over the Hi power for its better accuracy with the the lower bore axis, slide riding within the frame, and the full length rails. Cocked & locked carry though made it my go to 9mm. 😎

It is tough!! I own the CZ 75BD... and love it, I've tried my own "fail tests" with mixed bullet types ( FMJ, HP, LRN, Truncated etc)and weights in the same mag load.. and it always runs like a singer sewing machine! That said my ex bro in law had a Hi-Power.. shot it and loved it too! Hit well with it first time out.. it's a "natural". I chose the CZ in the end, because I don't have to worry about "taking the safety off" in a "stressful" ( as in an unexpected self defense use) situation. in decock mode. pull gun, pull trigger.. that's it,. one less thing to mess you up when the adrenaline hits... but that's just me. Loved my hi-power until I handled a CD 75B hi polish SS. I really like the single action/double action capabilities of the CD. You can load mag and one in chamber, lower to half cock and then fire off in double action or cock and have single action accuracy. Accuracy of both pistols were equal.

Well, it's 2020 now... I have had my Browning knock-off (DGFM) 9mm for almost 21 years now... I can't count how many rounds and cleanings I have put it through... I love this pistol... I qualified with it for my CWP and it just feels good in my grip and is easy to break down and clean...
There’s just something about the HP design. It’s classy and it works. You can’t ask much more of a handgun.
Both pistols are fine and reliable. The P-35 does handle well, certain models will give you hammer bite because of either the large ring hammer, or the standard spur hammer being fairly long. Older P-35s made before the Mark III are also made of softer steel, I knew of one man that managed to loosen the pressed-in cam in the frame.
I do think that the CZ does feel heavier and thicker as Mr. Funk stated. No free lunch, more rounds in the magazine, the bulkier it will be. I do like the grip angle just a tad better as it's less vertical than the P-35s, and also prefer the thumb safety location that sits right under your distal joint of the thumb without requiring an extended lever to be ergonomically correct.
The CZ's slide that runs within the frame also sits a bit higher than the P-35s, and thus the slide will never bite you no matter how high your grip is on the frame. I do not care much for the DA trigger pull, as it is long and stagey, and the SA pull is usually creepy too while also camming back slightly before sear release.
A good smith can make that pull great though, though there is more total trigger travel inherent in this DA/SA design compared to the HP. There haven't been any steel issues in the CZ I am aware of even under lots of rounds fired.
Biggest difference is the width of the pistols. The CZ is a bit of a thick beast that is probably best carried in an OWB or duty holster, while the comparatively svelte P-35 can easily be worn IWB if so desired. Thus, it is a handier carry pistol.
Decsions, decisions. Either will serve you well though I'd prefer the later Mk II or Mk III versions of the P-35 for the improvement of steel hardness and durability plus the better sights fitted. A crying shame it is now relegated to the history books though.
CZ75, no question.
I would prefer a double action. In my time a buddy thinkered with the sear of his High Power and carried cocked and locked. The gun went off while caried tucked rear belt
"Tinkering" with the sear of a Hi Power (or any other pistol for that matter) is not something I would ever recommend. It can lead to just that kind of mishap. Un-tinkered Hi Powers are as safe as pretty much any other handgun given proper handling by the user.
@@hrfunk I had mine worked on by a gunsmith and it lightened the pull about 1 1/2 pounds. But it isn't a carry gun.
I caught this video because I have both of those guns and wanted to hear someone else's pros and cons regarding them. Not mentioned was the difficulty returning the CZ-75 to single-action mode without a de-cocker, but maybe that's just me.
I had wanted a CZ-75 since Jeff Cooper brought them to my attention in Guns & Ammo many years ago, before they were available in the U.S. What struck me most about his article is that "Mr. 1911" actually praised a 9mm! He may have done so somewhere, but I don't recall reading Cooper ever praising the Hi-Power.
I carry my Hi-Power because I can shoot it the best of all my handguns. It feels good in my hand and always seems to line up perfectly when aiming. The CZ-75B is close and maybe after shooting 10,000+ rounds through it, I'll like it just as much as my Hi-Power.

I have 1 of each and they are as good as it gets. You have to go to a hand fitted 1911 to surpass the function of either. The used Browning HP market is going up fast and the supply is getting tighter. The CZ is still in production but sometimes hard to find. So when you get a good example Keep it! Thanks for the video.

I've owned both. For me the CZ-75 (original) fits a little better. I used it for my CCW some years ago and did very well. But I like my Mk II also! It's a nice comparison presentation.

With much respect to Browning, these guns are 40 years apart and the CZ is the clear winner in terms of action DA/SA and capacity (17+1 or greater). It's an effective tie for the first 14 rounds, until the HP needs a reload. You get 4+ more shots with the CZ... could make a big difference. To make the HP trigger competitive the mag disconnect must be removed. Like HPs. LOVE CZs.

The fact that the BHP design is now 87 years old and holding its own against designs that have had the benefit of well over 8 decades of technological advances says all I need to know. Seems the BHP remains the gold benchmark of design, function and reliability. I'm honored to currently be entrusted with one. i say that because it will no doubt outlive me, but not until I fire it again in 2035, the 100th anniversary of its release. GOD I love America! 🇺🇸

It is not a clone...since HP having SA and 75 SA/DA, it differs in one of the most important things. Congrats, Shadows are very well made evolution of basic 75Bs. Once You will see it in the shop, try Orange (TS). Completely hand-made gun for some 2k dollars.
Would be good to see a soldier do some running and move to target. See what range to engage a half figure target and see how many hits. Adreline running when getting shot at must be a good test of the weapon and shooter.

Great question! That might just be the topic of a future video. In general terms, I think the Hi Power is still going to win on feel and point-ability; the CZ is probably going to be the best in terms of trigger pull; and, the Beretta is going to be the most reliable of the three. For accuracy, I would have to actually shoot them to find out, but based on past experience, it would be a close race.

I personally think that the best cz-75 model for everyday carring is cz-75 D compact PCR. It is not in production anymore,so who moved his ass quickly and got it,should not sell it.
I don't care about the test I have 30 years of familiarity with my Hi Power and feels good in my hand when drawing and firing from a waist holster or shoulder holster. I have never had a failure to fire with this pistol.

I agree. I never endorse the purchase of non-top-quality firearms, but both the BHP and the CZ 75B are long-proven and outstanding autoloaders. In every performance and design aspect, they were near-identical (too little difference to make a difference). However, that 2X cost differential is substantial. I’d also mention that the CZ’s “inverted rail” design (which wasn’t mentioned) imho provides a more precise barrel alignment and lock-up.
Its worth pointing out for prospective buyers that the CZ is easier to disassemble using magazines that have plastic baseplates. For example, my Mec-gar mags work great. Sadly I had already scratched the pistols finish before I figured that out.
three years later the jury is in, CZ-75 wins! no hammer bite and higher capacity. but, if you wear gloves you don't feel the hammer bite so theres that.
I have owned a Browning Hi Power for over 40 years, an excellent pistol which I used at club level.
Six months ago I bought a CZ P07 for every day carry.

As usual, i find myself in near total agreement with you. I own 1911's, an SA-35, and a SAR B6 (CZ clone)... Love them all. SA-35 so far is the softest shooting 9 mm I've ever handled, personally.

Well, in my informal "test", the wallet test, the High Power wins 2-0. No CZ75s but I do own two HPs, an Argentine FM (licenced by FN) and a Mark III with the Browning rollmark not FN. I do admit he CZ also is a classic. Excellent video as usual!

It's a real toss up for me. I own a CZ75B (an Omega identical to the one in your video) and I love it, but I think I like the Hi Power a little better after shooting my grandfathers T series from 1968. Both are fantastic sidearms and either one would serve you well.

Thank you for this interesting video. There is a few points that I would like to comment:
- The Cz 75 has one additional "ancestor", i.e. the SIG P210 (and the petter-Neuhausen licence). The P210 also has the inside rails and the same system of "lintless" tilting barrel. And, although the final model had a single stack magazine, there was several double stack prototypes.
- Removing the magazine safety of the GP-35 is very useful for a reason not mentioned in this video: it makes the trigger a lot better and lighter. This is someting know for decades, especially by IPSC shooters.
- The GP35 has a serious weakness: its slide is fragile and it tends to break between 10 and 15 thousand rounds. I've seen it happening during IPSC matches and the shooters were not even surprised (they had backup pistols ready for this precise reasons).
- On the other hand, the Cz 75 has a strong reputation for toughness, reliability and durability not only in competition but also in combat all over the world.
It's not that the GP-35 is a bad pistol. It is a classic and has a very good reputation for solid reasons. But its fragility is a serious weakness and even its more dedicated defenders (IPSC competitors and the british SAS) left it at home since a long time.
Thanks for the comment Marie! In the video, I was trying to compare the two pistols in "as issued" condition. That's why I didn't mention removing the magazine disconnect safety on the GP-35. Also, the service life of the GP-35 can be increased by regular replacement of the recoil spring. That said, I agree with you. The CZ75 is a great pistol. Thanks for watching!

I bought a hi power brand new back in the 1970’s. I traded it in about 7 years years ago toward a Cz 75 with the omega trigger. Cz maintenance is simpler although it’s not a deal killer. Accuracy on both are excellent but I believe the Cz is a little more accurate. One thing I did find was the hi power was more sensitive to different ammo as far as jamming which I didn’t have with the Cz. I don’t agree with the author on take down. I found the factory Cz grips uncomfortable which I changed out along with the sights.
de-cock is not more modern, but just optional feature on 75s. You can still buy one with old style safety.
Fun video and a nice comparison. I was recently faced with this choice in an actual purchase decision between a new commercial Hi-Power and a CZ-75B. It was a tough choice until I considered that at CZ's law enforcement price, I could buy two CZ-75B's for the price of one Hi-Power, or put that money into ammo, leather, and spare magazines, which is what I did. Of course, the version I chose does not require me to carry hammer down if I don't want to, so it is a more apples to apples comparison.
The CZ does hold a couple more rounds than the Browning, and doesn't have the magazine safety, which I think accounts for the better SA trigger pull on the CZ. But on the downside, the CZ has less real estate on the slide to grab while racking than the Hi-Power. After arthritis sets in, this is a bit of an issue.
If the Hi-Power were a bit less expensive, it would be a harder choice for me, but at today's prices, CZ was a no-brainer for me.
You got a good pistol! I meant to mention the difference in magazine capacity and it slipped my mind. The price of the Hi Power is one of the things that I think is contributing to its demise. Even so, it's sad to see it passing. Thanks for the comment!

Hard to believe you picked my two favorite 9mm pistols, I have owned a P35 for about 40 years and just bought a new Springfield High Power, have owned that for about a year or so now. The CZ is another extremely awesome pistol I have been shooting a CZ 75 for about 20 years now and like the P35 it shoots extremely well is very well built and I shoot both very well. I dont know why this is but but when I am going out coyote/Fox or Deer hunting I always carry a side arm and my go to side arm for the majority of these applications is the P35. I dont have a reason that I can tell you why, maybe its because I have owned and shot the P35 so long it just feels a but more natural to me?
Anybody buying a regular sized 9 mm pistol could not go wrong with either of these extremely fine pistols!!
