Took this to the range for the first time, along with a Glock 19, an Beretta APX. The CZ 75 was the best of the 3 by far. Racking the slide was like slicing butter with a hot knife. My shot group was tight and on target. Recoil was soft and all in all, the CZ 75 was amazing. I have the CZ 75B, not ideal for conceal carry, but definitely an outstanding firearm.
@@arturraban1738ha lmao the MRBS rate of malfunction with a Glock is a whole hell of a lot less than a CZ 75 buddy and the 1911 man himself the legend Jeff Cooper loved the cz 75 he considered it the best service 9mm weapon ever so pull up ya britches young man and get yourself a CZ
I have a good friend I worked with at the Air And Space Museum with. Our unit would go shooting at a range near Dulles Airport. He was former NYC arson investigator. While the rest of us were shooting our Glocks and and sigs and berettas and 1911's he was happy shooting his CZ75. It was the 1st time I shot it. And I was really happy with the way it shot. And it shot any type of ammo you put through it.
I would suggest adding a pair of non-coated nitrile gloves to help keep any lead residue off of your hands. Also, a trick to cleaning the spring is to insert the edge of your cleaning patch into the top side of the spring, so that it runs between the coils, wrap the patch around it and then using a twisting motion, run spring through the patch. You would be surprised how much residue comes off.
@@sootch00 Glad to help the community. My wife says I am anal about my firearms, because I wipe and clean them on monthly schedules, even if I haven't put a round through them.
There is nothing better than a CZ in design, function and finish. I just sold my brand new S&W Shield Plus for a loss, it was defective right out of the box, 12 weeks for warranty repair.
Yet another good video. Thanks. I use a little variation. (1) I use Ballistol, and lots of it. I soak most of it - not the firing pin area, and let it sit for a while. It won't hurt rubber, plastic or wood. In fact, wood loves it. Then I brush, and spray again. Then dry, with an air blaster a little, and wipe with clean cloths. (2) I use a bore snake instead of a brush. (3) I don't use "oil" on the barrel, slide, or other parts that have metal-to-metal contact. I use only grease for that. I like Lubriplate SFL-0. It's non toxic (Ballistol is too). The main difference between grease and oil is that oil "migrates." It will flow anywhere it can. That's good in some places, but not good on the slide. You want something that will stay put, and lubricate until it's lost its usefulness, not until it migrates away. Not all of my shooting buddies agree, but this works great for me, and I am seeing very few signs of wear even after thousands of rounds.
My (1990) CZ-75 pre-B was my first CZ pistol, owned it for 27years, probably shot 300-400 times since I've had it. Great shooter, tad to heavy for concealed carry but occasionally in the winter (big coat). We used to clean our Berettas this way in the Guard--I apply what I've learned to all my pistols. Plenty of revolvers and autos since then, esp. my P10c and SP-01 Tactical, both awesome shooters.
Sootch... Bought my CZ75B in 2003 and it has never had a FTF in all those years.. Workhorse of a pistol.. I carried a Browning High Power in Vietnam, and my CZ reminds me of it every time I squeeze the trigger.. It truly is one of the Wonder 9mm of the world and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a purchase... Go Army, Beat Navy !
I can't believe a seasoned veteran like SOOTCH00 doesn't know the first stage of the hammer is the slide hold position to remove the slide pin! Come on man! It's genius on CZ's part! You don't even need to be cautious about lining up the marks on the slide/frame. You just pull the hammer back to the first stage, and then pull the slide back. The lines match up, and you can pull the slide pin out.
The CZ75 B was the first gun I ever owned; it spoiled me for other guns. I clean it similar to this video and use Remoil for lube. The trigger has smoothed out over the years.
It's important to change your guide rod spring after 4,000 rounds. The slide will eventually begin to malfunction (mainly not going into battery, dead trigger) causing stress on the gun. It happened to me, so I thought I'd pass it along.
I just want to say that I bought my first CZ five days ago, 75B and I went out to shot it yesterday. I love it. Now I'm thinking of getting the SP-01 and the Remi. I hope I can save up fast enough that it'll still be at the store that I go to. Thanks for this video. I cleaned my CZ prior seeing this video and I did somewhat what you did.
Thank you I just purchased my 1st gun the CZ 75 Tactical in Grey & I love this gun! Thanks for showing me clearly how to take it apart & clean it! Thank you 😊

The CZ75 is an old favorite of mine and I have several as well as Italian, Israeli, and Turkish clones. All work well. One CZ I really like is the CZ40B sadly now discontinued. It started as a collaboration of CZ and Colt on a .40S&W service pistol. Really nice gun.
I bought one over 15 years ago. Fell in love with it that I bought a stainless model with cocobolo grips. Both perform very well and are accurate. Anytime somebody ask what pistol I would recommend and I always recommend a CZ 75 variant. Never fails to disappoint
Thank you for taking the time to show how to clean it "as instructed by CZ". This video was very informative and I had to rewind quite a few times since I was cleaning my new CZ 75 P-01 while watching you do it.
My CZ75BD is a keeper. I'll use a tiny bit of gun grease on the slide rails - seems to work well and the grease does a great job of trapping residue. Just wipe clean with a dry cloth folded to get in the rail crease. After about 1,000 rounds or so, I'll remove the firing pin and clean out the channel using a dry Q-tip.
My CZ85B would only shoot flawlessly with certain ammo like Remington 115 grain. In TH-cam I found other owners with similar problems. Mostly misfires and the remedy is to change the firing pin. I was able to find an extended firing pin through Numrich. Since then my CZ will cycle every type of 9mm. It’s my favorite pistol. It’s elegant and definitely accurate
Magazine maintenance is just as important, thank you for including it! I have a P07 and my 17 rd mag is devoted to carrying my self defense rounds. I am a lefty, So I chose the PCR. Unless a hammer fired gun has ambi safety, it is hard to carry cocked and locked. I love the decocker on my PCR. I have bought and sold many guns but any CZ will be handed down to my offspring.
Well I use cleaning gloves to minimize how much lead and chemicals get on my hands, and then I use 2 of those green cleaning mats, a small pistol one on top of a shotgun one just to all the excess oil that may or may not seep through the first mat is absorbed into the 2nd and not my table. And also I tend to spray my CLP outside in the backyard away from the house just to make sure I’m as well ventilated as possible. And also I have a roll of paper towels at hand just in case. And then when I’m done I try to avoid touching anything until I’ve thoroughly washed my hands in cold water
To get residue out of those annoying little cracks and crevices, are use carb and choke cleaner spray. It’s a very powerful degreaser as well so you need to clean and oil afterwards.
The bore axis isn’t really that low on the CZ75, it’s the short slide that gives that illusion. The bore axis is pretty much on par with other hammer fired guns, it just the slide isn’t as tall as say a sig/hk/beretta/1911. Measure from the beaver tail to the bore and see for yourself
TheDoonzman bore axis is the relation the bore has in regard to the hand or how close in line with the hand, nothing to do with how much slide material is above the hand. The slide and bore are two separate things. That’s why guns like the Rhino and Alien are truly revolutionary guns, the bore axis is in line with the knuckles more or less but there is still material above the hand. I get what you’re saying, I wish others would as well. We are now in a low bore axis short trigger reset crazed gun world. That’s all you hear about anymore. Not saying that’s a bad thing but it’s just getting to be annoying
Correct. According to one chart on the web, the CZ 75 comes in at 1.57" so low-ish for a hammer fired gun (significantly better than a Beretta 92 or a 1911) but not in the same low-bore axis league of the P-10c, glock, steyr, and other low-bore striker fired guns.
I've always gone over every crevice with hoppes 9(scrub if needed) , wipe dry and then follow that up with hoppes oil on a patch and then wipe off the excess oil. Takes more time but hasn't failed me yet. Thanks sootch
Thanks Brian. I've done the same in the past. For this video, I wanted to keep it as close to CZ's recommendations but as long as you go back with oil, you're go to go.
Recently purchased 75sp01... love it, very smooth shooter! Thank you for a very simple how to video for new shooter like me... I’m over 50 and learning fast!! I use Hoppes for solvent and G96 clp and aerosol gun oil/ cleaner. Kroil for inside barrel after solvent.. thanks for your honest review this gun... Maby for next vid a tutorial on proper holding of gun to get best results ... two hand... lots of vids w very different styles... that will help me keep things simple... more accurate!!!
Excellent video! One thing, though...I'm not sure it has a low bore axis as the barrel isn't that much lower than it is on other guns (when I compare my CZs to 1911s, Glocks, Hi Powers, and Caniks). The Glock and some other polymer guns have a much lower bore axis. What the CZ-75 does have is a smaller slide (but corresponding higher frame sides) so there's less reciprocating mass and the beaver tail allows a higher grip.
I've watched many cleaning videos for the CZ's this video is the best cleaning video on how to and how not to. Perfectly demonstrated! Thanks for posting!
Thx sootch00, this video made my day, not because I needed a lesson on how to clean my CZ pistols, but just to see this awesome pistol talked about and cleaned by the guru and the video makes this cold snowy day just a bit brighter and warmer. Now to my hot coffee :)
I have a CZ75 SP01; totally awesome. That little extra weight on the nose from the pic rail vs. the base 75 really makes it just a little nicer to shoot. Everyone that tries it really likes it. Yeah it's big and heavy, but that's what's nice and makes it a great gun for going to the range with so you can really concentrate on becoming a better shot. Low recoil and great for new shooters.
@@robertashworth1568 My Shadow 2 is double/single action, just like most CZ75s. I am pretty sure that CZ does make single action only variants of the CZ75. Not sure if the Shadow 2 is one of them, but I think it may be.
@@robertashworth1568 That being said, it can be used just like a 1911, carried cocked and locked, which would essentially make it like a single action only pistol in that mode.
I always put a drop of oil on the spring coils in the sear cage, and trigger return spring when i reassemble. I don't remember where I learned to do that, I thought it was in the owners manual but couldn't find it.
Thanks for this video. Awaiting delivery of my CZ 75B Retro, and wasn't sure if there'd be a thorough video on how to clean it. How little did I know just how popular the CZ 75's are.
Hey Sootch, check out Strike Hold! It's like CLP but better. I've used a lot of Break Free CLP in my days, but since switching to Strike Hold I've never looked back. I am a HVAC mechanic and I use It on everything at work as well. It's good stuff!
I also set the slide upside down push on firing pin block and firing pin so the pin is sticking out of breech face to push out any goober that might of got in while cleaning, I just use a q tip and wipe tip of firing pin.
When taking out the slide stop, I use the bottom of a magazine to pry it out instead of my fingers. Little bit easier that way, especially if the gun is still new.
My rami is only a week old. Was having a hard time disassembling with a magazine. A nickel seems to work pretty good. Will try the magazine again in the future once I get more comfortable holding the slide back to 1/2 cocked hammer. Awesome pistol, very accurate and little recoil for a 3” barrel.
Thanks for your instructional videos and warm ending admonitions.I learn much and am encouraged every time I watch.Being a plane mechanic by trade,I've used Cotton Qtips on small parts, and wore health-workers gloves to prevent marring critical parts.Would these steps apply to gun maintenance also?Just a thought.God's blessings.
i was a 1911 guy until I bought a 75 SP 01. Then a 75 B Compact to carry and then a 75 Cold War Edition. I've never had a failure to feed or eject or fire or ejecting brass hit me in the face with a CZ with any ammo. The only problem ever was when I put a short mag in a full size gun and the ammo wasn't high enough to feed. That was user error, not the gun.
I used my new CZ 75 at the range. The second clip jammed when I went to shut. I was told I to easy on the slip action when loading the first round? Is this true?

Well I use cleaning gloves to minimize how much lead and chemicals get on my hands, and then I use 2 of those green cleaning mats, a small pistol one on top of a shotgun one just to all the excess oil that may or may not seep through the first mat is absorbed into the 2nd and not my table. And also I tend to spray my CLP outside in the backyard away from the house just to make sure I’m as well ventilated as possible. And also I have a roll of paper towels at hand just in case. And then when I’m done I try to avoid touching anything until I’ve thoroughly washed my hands in cold water
CZ PCR fan here!! Fits my hand better than anything else! ave a feeling it won't be my only CZ.
Primo video! I like to use a bamboo skewer with patches. Gets that crap out of slide rails & other tight spaces. Thanks Sootch!
To get residue out of those annoying little cracks and crevices, are use carb and choke cleaner spray. It’s a very powerful degreaser as well so you need to clean and oil afterwards.
I own a Pre B CZ-75 and I love it so much
This works just as well for the Jericho/Baby Eagle. Pretty straightforward
I recently bought a 75 bd and an sp01 Tactical and love em both, great shooting guns.
Nobody ever realizes this.
Everytime I hear the low bore axis thing, my eyes roll.
I LOVE my CZ's, but my god I hate the marketing .
Just cleaned my CZ while watching this as a refresher. I can’t like this video again so...LIKE
Alcohol, CLP, M-Pro 7, Boresnake, rags and a silicone cloth. Works great on pretty much everything.
What the CZ-75 does have is a smaller slide (but corresponding higher frame sides) so there's less reciprocating mass and the beaver tail allows a higher grip.
very helpful thanks. Just brought my CZ 75 Compact home so time for first cleaning and then the range!
I've watched many cleaning videos for the CZ's this video is the best cleaning video on how to and how not to. Perfectly demonstrated! Thanks for posting!
Thank you Sootch, always love your videos. Thanks to your recommendation, I got myself a RAMI and a PCR. Love it!
I just got a rami, put cgw night sights on it yesterday. It is a very nice pistol.
Ballistol for everything.
Ballistol is a staple here as well. Thanks Brother
Ballistol all the way ! 💧
^bump
Agreed--thanks to Hickok45, I've become a convert. It does everything needed through the cleaning process.
Bloke on the Range is the reason I tried it. Haven't looked back.
Thx sootch00, this video made my day, not because I needed a lesson on how to clean my CZ pistols, but just to see this awesome pistol talked about and cleaned by the guru and the video makes this cold snowy day just a bit brighter and warmer. Now to my hot coffee :)
Awesome! Glad I could make your day brighter! I was looking for an excuse to get my CZ 75 out and this was the perfect timing. Thanks Antoua!
Oh yeah, the SP01 is awesome on the range. It rivals my Hudson H9 by being so flat shooting. Thanks Michael!
Love my 75, and my Shadow 2. The Shadow is just on another level.
The shadow is single action only correct?
@@robertashworth1568 My Shadow 2 is double/single action, just like most CZ75s. I am pretty sure that CZ does make single action only variants of the CZ75. Not sure if the Shadow 2 is one of them, but I think it may be.
@@robertashworth1568 That being said, it can be used just like a 1911, carried cocked and locked, which would essentially make it like a single action only pistol in that mode.
@@JunkfoodZombieGuns ok. Very ice
@@robertashworth1568 It is. I posted a video with it in it a while back, along with an FNX-45 Tactical. That's a fun one too.
I have 2 CZ75bs in 40. And a Sarsilmaz 45 CZ copy. Best guns ever made!!
I just got an SP-01 and a Rami. So this is helpful.
I have found microfiber towels work great for gun cleaning. I keep one slightly oiled in a Ziploc bag inside my range bag for quick wipe downs.
Thanks for the video! I have a CZ75 BD Police.
Just got my first gun this week (Shadow 2) and this video was really helpful! Thank you so much
No disrespect intended I see your videos at least once or twice a day when I'm not working and they are very informative thank you
Thanks Brother! I am honored.
I use ballistol and Lucas oil & grease.
I have 3. Rami, Shadow2 and a Tactical sport orange. Love them.
LOVE MY CZ P-O1 AND 75BD!
Hey Sootch, check out Strike Hold! It's like CLP but better. I've used a lot of Break Free CLP in my days, but since switching to Strike Hold I've never looked back. I am a HVAC mechanic and I use It on everything at work as well. It's good stuff!
Thanks Brother, I'll check it out.
I'm a CZ fan! Awesomeness.
i was a 1911 guy until I bought a 75 SP 01.
I have 2 p01 1 p07 and planning on getting more cz just love them
I used my new CZ 75 at the range. The second clip jammed when I went to shut. I was told I to easy on the slip action when loading the first round? Is this true?
@@robertbranyan794 this are military grade tools i would recommend you to shoot is as much as you can to break it in once all the parts in the guns are loosen up they should run with no problem
Excellent video, once again. I've been shooting CZs since before it was cool. I recommend changing all of the springs every 5000 rounds.
Thanks Chuck! I appreciate the heads up on the Spring. It's way past time for me! lol!
Metal - no plastic -CZ's and Walther's in my arsenal 👍👍
Gotta agree, CZ75 is a great firearm. Have 3 myself, sweet shooters, accurate, reliable, love the solidness of the arm. Nice refresher on CZ recommended ckeaning. Thanks much.
CZ are great firearms. No better range day than a good CZ 75 on deck. Thanks A M!
Watching this I’m reminded of the scene from Forest Gump where the drill instructor is yelling at him during the rifle disassembly. “Sootch why did you disassemble the weapon so quickly?! Because you told me to drill sergeant”.
I got a new 75 omega, it doesn't like aluminum case ammo, runs brass 100 %
Just got my custom Falco holster for my 75B Love it.
That Hoppes is old school, Don. I found Ballistol spray works great and doesn't damage any finishes.
Yeah but I'm old school! lol! I also use Ballistol but I was trying to stay kinda basic. Ballistol is awesome. Thanks Brother
My magazines were filthy but not anymore thanks to this great video, thank you
Mine's on order. Been putting it off way to long. The wait is brutal. 6-8 months.
Makes me miss my original CZ75 from the 80s. Good video
Thanks John!
I have the cz 75b single action, was my first, and I'm a big fan of cz75b and there guns.
Great video bother Sootch! Cleaning firearms is like therapy for me. Just watching the video and hearing the sound seems to mellow me out.🤷♂️🤣 Gun nut...💧👍👊
Lol! Thanks Brother! I felt the same way doing the video.
Thank you so much! I shot my CZ for the first time today and wanted to clean it.
Nice video. I've got a 75DPCR and a 75BD, my favorite pistols. Got a CZ .22 rifle as well, gotta love CZ!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos. I am a new gun owner and like a sponge for knowledge
Love to see a P07/P09 cleaning vid. I know its similar but its still different enough that it would be informative. Keep up the good work Sootch I love your vids.
Thanks Brother! I'll look into the CZ recommendations and might just put something together.
