I really love watching your channel and since recently got a desktop..so guess what I am doing. Still need to learn much and need more wildcards to build one of your decks, but its a goal.. Thanks for making control fun..never knew how much fun I would have with opponents forfeit the match
When I looked at the UW lists and saw Dream Trawler being the main win con - Unmoored Ego comes in on turn 3 when they cast T3feri. Either they don't have anything else or Castle Ardenvale which I can also pull out with a different Ego. But I've also noticed that a lot of people begin to rope me after that play LOL
Love those grindy games and trying to get out of them and in the end even if you loose it was a really good game. But man winning those is really invigorating.
I had to go take a shower, but I thought to myself: "Eh, I'll just watch the first game." Not the wisest choice, 30min control-on-control match. It made me have to rush stuff to stay in schedule, but was well worth it. That was a really intense match, GGWP!
The fact that you went first allowed you to play around those early quenches. Beating simic flash going second in BO1 is a whole other ball game. Well played though!
Oh man, that first game was 36 minutes of intense strategy. It only lasted 13.8 minutes for me, but by the end I'd felt like I'd watched a feature-length movie. When you won at the end, it put such a smile on my face! (Although, your opponent did make a few obvious mistakes. I think without them, they might have had you. But punishing mistakes is part of the fun!)
That was some heavily disciplined and superior game play. It was tiring to watch but so worth it to see the sweet victory. If that was a pro tour match the booth would be going insane. Excellent content.
@8:45 couldn't you have played fabled passage, and then after the murderous rider trigger, use it to shuffle, and then let keftnet death trigger resolve?
All perfect by CGB in the UW control match, I think big mistake by the opponent playing immediatly archon and banishing to have the 2/2 . Without that one it would have nearly impossible to kill the Trawler. Very well playd by CGB indeed, constantly pressuring the hand ;)
this is interesting TO WATCH, the first game represents everything I hate when playing on arena. The problem is not the decks themselves but the lack of a format for casual / mid-casual players on arena
@@covertgoblue Spelling is for people who don't want to look or sound like they never passed 5th grade. Though with the way you play Magic, I can only hazard a guess as to whether or not you actually did.
Do you have a deck for me, where i am absolutly happy to see a T1 mountain of my Opp? I'm currently not happy in BO1 and don't see BO3 as a reasonable F2P option (Invest time / gain gold ratio is too low).
Loved the Unmoored Ego video, been trying to do a Dimir Control deck for a while now, would like to see a Covetous Urge-focused deck! Trying to currently build one around it.
As long as his hand was not empty, he can. Just as same as you can make your wicked wolf indestructible even if its already tapped, as long as you still have a food.
If this is the last we see of Dimir control for a while, then I'm glad it got the sendoff it deserved. I'm still playing the old Ego + Ashioks version. It's a worse deck, but a more powerful meme, and sometimes I just want to meme.
So, why play one copy of such high powered cards? Like dream trawler or ashiok? If they're good, why not play at least two? Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
I think cause you might have 2 on your starting hand. From what i saw in the Championship Azorius wants to bleed out its opponent‘s resources. Then they will slowly but surely kill you (Even with Castle Ardenvale 1/1s) cause at some point, if they have teferi and more Mana than you its almost impossible to get back into the game. That‘s why Unmoored ego was so useful in this matchup. Getting rid of elspeth conquers death gave CGB a huge time benefit.
@@covertgoblue idk it's just such a low percentage of your deck. That was my thinking anyway. But I wanted to try to understand why the pros are doing it this way. Putting in 1 copy says you don't need it to win, so is there just no better card to fill one slot?
I enjoy watching your videos CGB, i am also a heavy u/b player. I believe it to be the answer to the heavy amounts of mono red and u/w in the field. Tell me, what do you think of Lilianas triumph as an answer to dream trawler and also slowing down mono red? Also, id like to hear any feedback on adding gadwick or multiple blue revelations to a list like this. Thoughts?
When you were trying to kill the dream crawler game 1...why not just block with kefnet, then after damage cast one of the crys you had? It doesnt target dream so the hexproof wont work... They were dead cards anyway
CGB I was really wondering if you could try make a kethis deck one day becuase I haven’t seen one since the release of the card and I reallt believe in the right deck it could be pretty fancy especially with new Theros legendarys

"No one can beat 2x dream trawler"
CGB: "Hold my Kefnet"
Why have I been a CGB Subscriber for well over a year? 36-minute+ "never say dead!" grinding between Dimir and Azorius Control. D'uh!
@@robertpiatt1551 that is why we are here yes
I think opp could do better than that, if he sandbagged lands in hand
That first game against UW control was the best I've seen in a while, hands down :)
I was gonna skip this vid but your comment made me check it out and I'm glad I did.
Honestly, this is one of the best played videos you have played so far. This winning against an superior deck against all odds.
That Dream Trawler vs Kefnet staredown was epic!
Great video as always~
The first match against UW was really epic.
Thanks for make a new great UB control deck, CovertGoDimir! Best archetype ever.
Good thing Kefnet has that Lazotep plating reinforcing his back ,otherwise his spine would break from carrying the games XD
Yup, that Kefnet was the MVP.
My favorite video in a while. The azorius matchup was an epic game.
Thanks cgb
Pain and Agony takes down UW control. Epic!

I normally just break my desk in half if i lose after an 1 hour game
@@Deathdrummer195 I'd say get a stronger desk, but then we worry about bones and tendons and ligaments instead?

"nissa, who hits the Exile zone." just loving how you`re bringing these lines up as if they were nothing :D
CGB probably the best mtg youtuber other than the prof at tolarian community college. The content that cgb makes is always really good.
Remember "The best game you ever played" video from awhile back? That UW Control game topped that. Galaxy brain plays
Spectacular plays and next level reasoning, love the videos as a whole but this one was worth the comment!
Epic Game 1 CGB! The perfect example of control versus control; exhausting each other out :)
My respect for that long control game :D. I loved every minute of it.
This is one of those best times in magic when you use every extent of your deck to win, when every card matters. GG WP

Hooooolllyyyyy Crraaappppp those were some epic pro-tier moves against U/W control. That game was crazy good!
That first game was one hell of a game, huge congrats, you played beautifully
Man that first game was crazy, well played tired cgb! :)

That last game! (Chefs kiss)

The game against U/W was spectacular. Insta like for that.
Simic Flash Vanquished, FeelsGoodMan.
7:10 Why didn't you play Kefnet and use the intervention to counter removal?

I'm really confused how this deck works? I built it and I seen the vidoe but when I play it I'm a bit lost.
I love your Dimir.
Change a Soot to Canarium, so you can triple a Trawler.
You solved the sphinx riddle "how do you kill me?"
WHAT A GAME CGB, YOU ARE GOD!
Kefnet my love is back
Fantastic video!
Holy smokes that control v control matchup >.
Why didn't he use Murderous Rider in 23:05 against Dream Trawler when it was tapped? That way opponent couldn't have hexproven it, could he?
As long as his hand was not empty, he can. Just as same as you can make your wicked wolf indestructible even if its already tapped, as long as you still have a food.
two very grindy intense games! holy moly. wp
I was thinking of how to use the Ego against UW, 👏🏽hand-hate and instant speed is the key🤔

I like that first game very tight like MTG suppose to be
Yeah I do that 7 game event it feels like 80% of the Time its mono red with annex turn 3 n embercleve turn 4
Do you ever gonna use that sell token?
24:26 - opponent shouldve tapped trawler instead of counterspelling! Mistake!

Epic Dream Trawler battle!
That game one was WILD!!!
