    CGB you'd be so proud of me! I used Agadeems Awakening after we had both been drawing single cards to blank boards for three turns. Brought out everything and hit them for a simultaneous mill and life victory!!

    Agadeem is great in the mirror match. When you are both milling each other decks, the first person to cast Agadeem often takes the game.

    Been playin' 2 copies of Zareth San in my rogues deck. So far I've stolen 3x Nighthawk Scavangers, 2x Ugins, 2x Terror of the Peaks and a Slitherwisp. Card is sweet.

    CKC check in: saw the whole video and it was glorious.
    Quarantine dad tales.
    Been playing arena for over a year, but stopped after eldrain because of a move.
    But had stored quite a bit of resources in wild cards, gold, and gems.
    My 11 year old is heavy into MTG so when arena came to mac I let him use my account to play against his older brother, you probably can guess where this is going...
    After watching CGB's live stream I got excited for the new set!
    Logged into my account, went to craft a deck and...
    ...no wildcards.
    My son had used over 30 of my rare/mythic rare wild cards to craft Timmy decks.
    Sigh.

    I've been pretty successful running Blackbloom Rogue in my flex land slots instead of the ones mentioned in the video...a 5/3 menace that triggers everything else in the deck has worked nicely.

    I really like this deck. One new card I've found really nice in this deck is the uncommon blue modal land shapshifter. Fail state is it's a tap land. Best upside I've pulled off several times to devastating effect is a copy of Nighthawk Scavenger.

  • @fabiomogicato9405
    @fabiomogicato9405 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Nighthawk Scavenger‘s my favourite new card from ZRN. It‘s so solid and it‘ll also see play in Mono B decks, I am assuming. The card is just so flexible because of the defensive power of deathtouch or the offensive power of lifelink... I immediately crafted 4 of ‘em... (Probably should have crafted Lotus Cobra, but I‘m dumb)

  • @Mr_Dopey
    @Mr_Dopey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mr_Dopey here. If I can recommend one card for Dimir Rogues it would be Mogis's Favor. It kills so many threats in standard. In the mirror match it can kill a threat, increase tempo, and lower graveyard count. Sticking it on something with lifelink can race most decks with enough removal. Thanks for the criticism, I should have sacked in response! Good luck!

    What I love about Rogues is how there are at least 3 or 4 really different decks you can run. All have same core of Enforce, Thought-Thief, and Drown, but there's a lot of variation beyond that. The Lurrus variant is very fun. A card like Acquisitions Expert is actually decent in that deck, and Vantress Gargoyle is your beater.

    • @dinklebob1
      @dinklebob1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the Arena grind. People just want their wins for the day as quickly as possible, and if that means beating up on jank in the Play queue rather than facing straight meta decks in Ranked, that's what they'll do.

    I'm a cool kid. I like both Zareth and Awakening. With Zareth I've milled and played the opponents Ugin on turn 4 on the play. When Zareth hits he is a powerhouse though somewhat situational. This is one of the rare instances where what I like playing (mill) is actually good. As a long time dimir player who loves the whole rogue flavor, I'm super bummed out that they made rogues such a cooky-cutter build. All the cards just fit together way to easily, I much preferred Dimir flash befor, where you had to really put some work in deck building and piloting to make it work. Countering enemies key cards, holding spells, playing completely different game plans in every match-up. Now you just spam all the rogues, go for the beat down, easily having answers with drown in the Loch with all the free milling, playing like a monored player and it will probably work out fine. Same with historic rogues, it just seems so stuffed now, that it lost alot of its creativity and skill aspects. Winning is alot easier now so I guess the mythic grind won't be too bad, but I really prefer making underdog decks work in the meta than beeing the meta.

    • @elerai1496
      @elerai1496 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh really? Trust me, when you go up against the cancer that is Uro, you'll be rethinking your life decisions. No, I'm not talking about lotus cobra Omnath Uro, I'm talking about the various control Uros like Sultai Jace/Sea-Gate Stormcaller Control (for example). You stand no chance against those in Bo1, and extremely slim chance in Bo3. Literally the only reason this has to play in a hyper-aggressive style, ditch all value and control cards (like Call/Lurrus in that game) is because you just can't outvalue Uro, you can only race them with borrower. Gargoyle also had to be cut, because it makes this deck even more vulnerable to Uro than it already is.

    Deck idea:
    you use the enchantment "solemnity" from amonkhet which prevents any type of counters from going onto permanents. You combine this enchantment with luminous broodmoth and kroxa. Since the luminous broodmoth cant put flying counters on the kroxa, it keeps respawning and its ETB keeps triggering until the opponent's hand is gone. Then after that, it does three damage every EBT and then you win

    In the last game, countering Terror of the Peaks and then playing Brazen Borrower could have set you up to bring Zareth in to get Terror out of their graveyard and then had Petty Theft up to bounce any threats they could have on their next turn (if they blocked one of the Enforcers). It would also have saved 3 life, though that wasn't really relevant at that point. Also, them having Ruin Crab and Terror of the Peaks in the same deck seems kind of awkward. Enjoyed the video and watching this deck work.

    • @wrydrune

    Call of the death dweller is really good here. It can bring an enforcer and the lord or just 2 enforcers back or in a real pinch 1 nighthawk and give it menace. Lots of great plays if you've had the right cards come and go. Let's you be a bit more aggressive with the enforcers too. Make trades and slam them back.

    Been playing a flash-heavy more controlly version of rogues with pilferer, omen of the sea, rewind and slitherwisp over the most non-flash cards in the deck. Works pretty well, idk if anyone has seen any good lists of more controlling rogues but would be interested in seeing your take on that approach. Also definitely keen to see a lurrus rogues list.
    Final point, cling to dust is excellent in rogues for the mirror and exiling titans.

    As someone that plays a monored sometimes, luckily most people that copy your decks are poor pilots for them. I ate a few iterations of this deck with my monored :P
    I hope the pup is doing better!

    Zareth san is great. Not always needed but and its not the most important but this deck is many times ahead and Zareth finishes the game, theres a reason why many are playing it in this deck. Respect Zareth power.

    If your opponent has Uro you just need to play through it.
    Beat someone yesterday who over abused Uro because I kept milling and I kept their life in the danger zone. They over focused on Uro so their hand filled up with real gas and they ran out of options with all of the mana payout for the giant. At 7 life and 7 cards they scooped because I had a monster board and they didn't have enough mana for interaction (plus no sweeps)

      No flying and no card draw is rough though. Unless you're cutting something besides the Windrobber, which I think would be a mistake. Flash is a huge plus, but I think Windrobber wins due to evasion, card draw, and instant sac speed (how many times did he fizzle an adventure?)
