The kyrie trade was the start of the rebuild for the mavs after so many disasterous seasons with our old gm. That team was going absolutely no where despite being a 4th seed. Our current gm Nico had the balls to make that deal, they tanked enough to keep the protected 10th pick which turned into Lively, and then during the season traded the newly signed grant williams for PJ. Cookin.
Ahm... Nico became GM before the 2021 draft... not in 2022/23. He was the one that let Brunson go, not even talking to him when he wanted to sign the extension. He was the one that traded for Woods, that signed McGee... Yes, for the last 1.5 years Nico did a great job. I even think he should win GM of the year this season. But before that... not so much!
@@Smido83 Brunson wasn't Brunson back then and you know it. It wasn't until that year's playoffs that he showed what he could be and by then it was too late. Besides that, if they kept Brunson that means no kyrie and they needed his veteran presence to take that next step. Wood/Mcgee was a shot in the dark with the bad cap and limited resources they had. It didn't work but they were cheap. It took him a year to figure out that Center was a big fucking problem for this team. Donnie had 2 damn decades to fix it and only kept Chandler for 1 season and traded for a hobbled KP. The point is that he's not afraid to try do something about the team's issues instead of sitting on his hands and wasting Luka's prime like Donnie did to Dirk. Just go back and look at what he's done, without signing reggie bullock, without trading for Dinwiddie do we even make it to the WCF that year?
@@johnnyd.1925 Brunson was starting since early December and asked for the 55/4 extension the 2nd time in early January. 55/4... Thats less money per year then the contract we gave Green last summer (41/3). Even in the Summer of 2021 this wouldve been an ok contract. But our FO didnt even talk to him, or made a counter offer like 40/3 or the last year being a team option, or whatever! Btw, who said the Kyrie trade would not happen? Brunson/Dinwiddie and no 1st instead of Dinwiddie/DFS and an unprotected 2027 1st... and btw, how is Brunson doing as a leader right now? Can you imagine our team without Kyrie (2nd option), Maxi (backup Big), Washington (best 2 way wing) and Green (backup wing)? Thats the equivalent to the roster that Brunson is carrying right now! Either way, even if 16/5 wouldve been his peak, this would be a great value contract. Harrison shit the bed here. Its ok to admit that. And they took a flyer on Wood, thats true. But everybody knew that there were huge red flags if it comes to ego and defense. If not an 18/10 Stretch big wouldnt be that cheap. And look at that... it didnt work, shocker!
@@johnnyd.1925 Edit: Donnie wanted to resign Nash, Cuban didnt allow it. Donnie wanted to resign Chandler, Cuban didnt allow it. Donnie wanted to draft Giannis, Cuban didnt allow it... Blame Donnie if that makes you feel better, but he wasnt the problem on most mayor decisions. I am not saying it was wrong to fire him. It was clearly time for a change at the coaching and GM position. But I just hate how people blame him for the things that went wrong. Cuban had the last word and vetoed so much that wouldve helped the team during Dirks prime. Now that he was willing to move on and sell the team (that decision wasnt made over night this season) he stayed out of the GM business and look at that... it worked. Donnie never had that luxury!
@@Smido83 Brunson is effective in knicks because he is the primary ball handler. You don't see him do a lot of things off the ball. I can't say 100% that he won't be effective playing alongside Luka but I can tell you that he won't be the Brunson today if he stayed.
To be fair to the Clippers, they're the Clippers. I don't think Shai would be the Shai we know if he stayed there tbh, and they definitely wouldn't have gotten J Dub with that pick and develop those 2 into what they are, once again, Clippers.
I still think the Gobert trade is horrendous because you absolutely could have done that for less. Not because Gobert sucks, but that deal did not have to happen for 4 1sts and multiple players both. You still could have gotten that done for maybe the picks and keep more players, whichever version you like. It could have just been maybe 2 picks and players or keeping like Malik Beasley for spacing and maybe 3 picks still makes that work I think.
Shai would’ve never became a superstar without leaving the clippers. He needed the keys to blossom into a star and OKC was the perfect place to be for that
The kyrie trade was already good at the time. It aged even more amazingly now. Kyrie's value going down had nothing to do with his basketball ability. The "gamble" was, will kyrie be all about basketball. Not only has he been that, he's been an amazing leader too.
Clipper fan since lob city bro and i just get sad thinking about basketball now. My team is cooked for years bro. This year was the only chance for a finals appearance. Time to be the new bums for 5-10 years.
The Timberwolves trade was bad then and it’s bad now 😂 Utah fans know full well that Gobert is a bigger liability. You’re paying 40 million for the DPOY to give up 40 to Jokic? Lmao.
Danilo Gallinari really been apart of every NBA trade lmaoo
He’s been solid on the Nuggets
I still can’t get over the bald Giannis on the wall 😂😂😂

Clippers be Clippers, even in Intuit. They should have renamed themselves to the Inglewood Greasers, and nobody will notice.
day 6 of asking the boys to play poeltl during tiktok time
Issac can adopt me, won’t see me complaining
If Kawhi and PG stayed healthy together, it wouldve been fine. Imagine though, if they were able to keep Shai along with Kawhi and PG. Wowowow
As a OKC Fan Thank u Paul George for not playin defense
have fun in cancun🤞🏽

It’s Jokic, but his DPOY this season was still undeserved imo
Good as of now, but 2-3 yrs from now, it's gonna look bad. Same way we view the Clippers
Ok but they're probably gonna win a ring, and all the players in the trade are fucking bums and those picks will all be high 20s lmao
The Suns lost a lot the Damian Lillard trade
He's looking more and more like cameron Payne.
Merciful to leave the suns off of this

Kat is still a center just playing out of position
I think he’s more of a pf
Its crazy how the Jazz keep trading their best players
Saying kyrie ruined the nets is crazy but go off
If anything, the Nets ruined Kyrie.

Tim Conelly the goat gm, dude built the nuggets winning roster and now a roster to take down that same team. Imo the wolves are the favourites now
