It's worth noting how somber and subdued Gwayne is when talking with Alicent, compared to how smug he is when we first met him. Like Rhaenys had always said these men were trained for war but had never seen it. Now Gwayne has seen it, he barely survived the battle at Rook's Rest, and he's no longer looking forward to winning glory in combat. Even Sir Cristin Cole is more timid now, telling Aemond that they can't face Daemon if he wins over the Riverlands. The once bold knights have lost their fervor. Ending foreshadowed in 1st Episode of Season 1! : In the 1st episode when Daimon battles the eldest Hightower son and Sir Christian Cole on horseback (a Prelude of what was to come in real battle), Damon asks (when up against Hightower kid) Lady Alicent for her favor. He spoke of being able to win "The Games" (foreshadowing to their war battles that were to come) but that he would need her favor to defintely ensure his victory. I believe this was foreshadowing of events that were to come in the future when Daimon would be going up against Hightower kid and sir Christian Cole in their war games and battle strategies. Alicient has now been cast out from the small council (losing her seat of power and authority) and has grown weary of the side she stands on. She could possibly join with Daimon to help him ensure his victory in the future big battle to come. I also believe how they joust back and forth also represents the amount of battles and way they are fought take shape when they face off against each other in real battle. In the end, sir Christian Cole will cause Daimon to yield or he will defeat him just as done within the tourney. They also used the tourney to symbolically represent a woman's battle in giving labor (showing it to be viewed in layers), therfore it's possible they used it to foreshadow the future and ending to season 2 as well. They use the beginning events in season 1 to symbolize not just one thing but many things, having many layers as with an onion. The rabbit hole just deepens further and further the more attentive and deligent you are at observing the show and all of its allegory and Easter eggs hidden within it.

Jason Lannister doesn't reference House Redfort from the Vale - he's saying "The Red Fork", meaning the river - a branch of the Trident which runs through the Riverlands. The other branches are the Blue and Green; the 3 rivers are the 3 colors seen in the sigil of House Strong. Another point relating to the owl: when Daemon asked Alys who she was in a prior episode, her response was “I’m actually a barn owl cursed to live in human form”
I'm pretty sure he said the Red "Fork", as in one of the three principal rivers of the Riverlands (the red the blue and the green fork) and notably the one that merges with the Tumblestone at Riverrun. The metaphor kind of fits better, as a bit of a play at the 'rivers of blood' analogy you often hear. Also, wouldn't make sense for the Redfort, a castle in the Vale, to be used in reference to the Riverlands.
I love how everything Alicent was fighting fell on her as if she was no exception, I also hate that she will take Helaena to pray when she is already with her bugs and it seems to me very similar to Viserys when he was with his legos, so happy they are alone, but of course they always disturb them. The way Daemon leans on the table wanting to hug his brother again when he can't anymore kills me, but it's time to close those cycles he has been dragging and finally be the real him in all his aspects.
This food riot happened many times in history, but it's probably most close to the French Revolution food riot of 1789. There was a harsh winter that year leading to massive food shortages among commoners. The fisher women of Paris were key players of that food riot.

The way Daemon leans on the table wanting to hug his brother again when he can't anymore kills me, but it's time to close those cycles he has been dragging and finally be the real him in all his aspects.
it would be cool if we were watching a Targaryen go crazy in real time, in a believable fashion. Not whatever they did with Dani.
interesting fact Alyn of Hull's actor Abubakar Salim is taking part of Critical Role's miniseries "Downfall"
This food riot happened many times in history, but it's probably most close to the French Revolution food riot of 1789. There was a harsh winter that year leading to massive food shortages among commoners. The fisher women of Paris were key players of that food riot.
Thank goodness a Breakdown with just Ryan and not all the extra talking opinions.
