@@SDFishandSips Definitely! Getting some experience here in LA county so that by spring time I’m ready for La Jolla. Your vids definitely help. Super stoked to get my first yellowtail!
Thank you! I've been challenging myself this year to put more useful information in my videos to help the viewers be better fishermen/fisherwoman and better human beings. Tight lines!
Thank you very much! I'm challenging myself this year to put up more content, with variety, information, and value while still providing the entertainment that got me to where I am now. @@SDFishandSips Thanks man--hope to see you on the water soon! While waiting for a Solo skiff, I picked up a Whaley Boat (rotomolded, foam injected, RIB design). Should be on the water in couple weeks--TL and keep 'em coming!

Thanks Chris! The interactions and feedback from you and all the fishing community has pushed me to put out more informational content to provide more value to my viewers. I end up getting rewarded with a bunch of fish and networking connections and it's a beautiful experience to see how everything is playing out. The legend of the Nomad DTX Minnow 140 for Mikey and the Solo Skiff will live on! Haha. Tight lines buddy!
Awesome video Mikey. Great tips on the gear to use and how to use them. I can second how good those Shimano Flat Falls work and that 160 gram Glow is also my favorite.
@@SDFishandSips Yes Mikey , my most watched uTube video is of the 32lb Yellowtail I caught on a 160gram Glow Flat Fall. It was in La Jolla on 3/2017. I'll put the link on this post. It used to be in higher definition but uTube had removed the audio after over 3 1/2 years due to copyright issues on one of the 3 song that it had. For over 6 months I couldn't view it and ended up having to add free music from their files to make it work again, but somehow they lowered the definition to 480p. That sucks it used to be in 1080p and I was finally able to download it so I didn't loose it, but it's at the lower quality. I would advise to always keep your original, because you never know when you could loose it on their site. I think one of the reasons it got watched so much is cause it was the first time I edited video from two cameras and the change in viewing angle and having the Yellowtail get closer to the camera with the Flat Fall in it mouth, made it visually more of a wow affect. Yessah!🤙🎣 awesome tips and knowledge from the solo skiff master !! Right on Mikey you need frame that nomad up when you retire it with all your pic catches braddah!! Catch you on the water! 🚤🎣
My pleasure Carlsbad Kook. Keep getting out there and fishing and your yellowtail will come. Think positive, have faith, confidence, and gratitude and all your dreams will come true.
You have a great fishing channel. I live in San Diego that White Sea Bass you caught was incredible. I caught one in the surf a few years ago to small. Still hoping one day I will catch another one. Thank for showing the lures you use. I going to get a few of them.
Thank you so much for the compliments! Keep fishing and you will get your keeper White Sea Bass. March and the spring time in SD and SoCal is a great time of the year for WSB. Thanks for leaving the feedback in the comment. Tight lines!
Is the nomad dtx used mainly off shore to troll? Would it work fishing from Piers or a good rock cove spot? Looking for some new lures to try out near monterey off the rocks or jetty’s if we come across one.
Good question. Yes it is mainly used to troll but a guy told me after he got off a long range trip that he caught a wahoo casting the nomad DTX minnow from a San Diego sportboat. I guess you could try from the rocks but it is an expensive lure so it would suck to loose it in the rocks. And from an elevated casting surface it may not swim right. Thanks for watching and the engagement. Tight lines!
It was GREAT meeting you bro! I would love to collaborate w you and do some sort of give away to your subs. Give away a trip to LJ maybe? Head out of kellogs to the channel or kelp beds? Let me know bro. Keep up the great work!
That was so epic meeting you on the water like that! Yes I'm thinking this Sunday 1/24/2021 we do launch from Kellogs and fish the bay for some halibut, do a giveaway to my subs, and maybe shoot an episode of my new podcast. But I do like a nice Sunday in La Jolla. We will gauge location based on the fish report Friday and Saturday but let's plan Sunday. Let's go! So awesome!

Do you use procure scents? I recently hooked up on sculpin, sandbass, calico bass in the deep water. I used squid scent. Will try out calico cocktail next time in the bay for halibut.
Great video Mikey I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with us. You didn't mention your favorite colors of the Nomad DTX with us. Your new one looked to be green Mac while the beat up one may have been a different color? Keep fishing and posting 👍
Great comment Gary: "Fusillier" is my favorite color (the old beat up one I have) and I have heard a lot of other people talk about the solo "Mac Tuna" for the DTX minnow 140. Thanks for watching. Lots more videos on the way!
