I've had other BPM baits th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!
It's amazing that the 3 hook Jerk bait is used in almost every fishing situation world wide. It's killer.
I couldn't agree more, the Battlestar 115 is my new favorite jerkbait for surf fishing. It retails for about 1/2 of an LC, so if you lose one it hurts a lot less!

U should try using a Gulp Sand worm, kinda forgot the exact name but you’ll kno it when u see it in the store. Just a basic 3oz weight with a foot and a half leader with like a size 3 J hook or anything similar and I promise you that you’ll get bites.

Hey Adam, as an avid golfer you can also wear rain pants over your regular jeans and they will cut off the wind, keep you dry and much lighter and more comfortable.

I picked up a Battlestar about a month ago but haven't had the opportunity to use it yet due to the storms. What rod do you recommend to get the most out of a cast when using a Lucky Craft or Battle Star.
Just wanted to point out Lucky Craft makes a 115 surfpointer that definitely compares and has more colors

I'll need to pick up one of those for fishing down here in SoCal. The appearance is like the bait fish down here - bonito in the fall and I bet some Sand and Calico bass will hit it from the kayak. Good stuff! How deep do you think it trolls?
Says 3-4 ft on the box. I imagine the depth would be different tho depending on how much lines you have out and how fast you're trolling.

I have a few question about surf fishing after all these rains. Are there fish in the muddy water? How long for water to clean up? Is it even healthy to eat fish from muddy ocean? I seen that surfers are suggested to not swim.

really big surf and not much of a bite out of Seaside, OR today. waders are a must. I used berkley sand worns to no avail. now i need to investigate some lure options.
@@tonybaksay564 we usually use fresh razor clam there but it’s still closed. Use shrimp and put sand shrimp smell on it 🐟 gulp work sometimes too. I wanna try those lures up here as well

Looks almost identical to the LC Surf Pointer 115 but a quick search shows it's more expensive. For a made in China lure is should be cheaper than the LCs.

I have a cheap pair from bass pro. Funny enough I am a size 10 foot but these waders are a size 13 because that’s all they had at the time lol

An excellent review and with good fish catches. You always seem to catch fish where ever you fish! Is this the only beach you fished on that day? Do you move between many beaches if you're not successful after a half hour or so. What was interesting is that some good perch fishers prefer "crashing wave action" but you were fishing in flat calm waters yet you were successful. Please comment on wave action and successful surf perch fishing??

@@VINCEGOESFISHING Hi! I have used your Battle Star lure. They cast like a bullet. However, I'm still looking forward to my first catch on a jerk bait. In calm waters, you can definitely work jerk baits better, more effectively and for longer times/distances on each cast. There's little problem in timing casts with waves and loss of action with wave surges.

@@ronmodafferi8202 Ahh those are some good areas. Do you have any local fishing buddies there? I'm sure once you find some productive spots you'll be catching a lot of fish on that jerkbait. It catches nearly every species too. Just keep it cranking. When they slam it you will definitely know! They hit those things hard :)

9-10 foot medium to medium/heavy action rod would be my recommendation
What i've learned with fly's over the years as well as spinners for trout is that fish are rarely particular. There are some base patterns like a round hackel, a silver or gold blade mepps spinner and such that at least trout react to. All these permutations in my opinion seem not worth it especially when you consider likeness of features between lures. Take for instance how well that Fisherman's life...almost literal spoon does. Makes me want to rig up and try a real kitchen spoon. All in all, fish tend to act very predatorially and quick to a silver flash or big hackle any time of the day and year.
In the case of flies. Yes, i have seen trout react only to "certain" flies that are emerging or landing during a hatch, but even then, I have sill experienced plenty of non-recommended fly or lure bites during these times. Over all, think about the predatory nature of these fish. They react quick and want to eat. They're not validating your lure. So, so many things work. For years, I successfully got limits with just an ought Mepps silver blade any time of day or time of they year.
Just food for thought when you're thinking about buying too much unnecessary plastic and crap you probably don't need.
Oh yeah and bait is always great. On that note, Adam, you are a Davincci when it comes to angling. I'd be curious to see what you think as I have learned a ton from you.
Definitely agree with you! A lot of fish will hit anything that looks appetizing. I do think there are occasions when they are a little more particular but not sure how often that is
