Great content! You always answer my questions in your vids. When you showed the reverse dropper I asked myself when I would use that, then you explained 😂 subbed!
@@chrisblevinsfishing not hard to get through tons of good info. I just watched again and noticed a couple of things I had questions about. 1. How come your reels aren't completely full of line? 2. Do you run straight mono on your jigging rod, and if so do you also use flat falls with that set up?
Your information on reverse dropper loop and FF settings is so useful. I shall enjoy re-rigging and re-setting everything. Sincere thanks for doing these.
Thanks for the info here. When using your reverse dropper loop setup, do you drop to the bottom, crank off the bottom, or does it depend on what the bottom looks like/depth?
Most of the time I’m watching it fall on the sonar and setting it right to the depth that I see marks. But yes, for rev dropper loop I will drop till you hit the bottom then wind up a couple few cranks to be suspended up off the bottom. You can do bottom bouncing with rev DL if you have a fast drift or super slow troll.
Why not use the rod tubes for securing for surf transit? Have you broke a tip, or popped a ceramic ring from placing them in the tubes? I have, but since I wrap my own, it's not as big of a deal, I prefer having them down as opposed to the chance of them snapping if one turtles.
I havent flipped the PA yet. I'm more worried about keeping the reels dry than protecting the rods. So placing them behind me and up keep the reels more dry. If the rods are in the tubes and you are taking waves in the lap, your reels are dust. Thanks for watching KFA!
its so cool that you also show these "getting skunked" videos. even more motivating than seing sb catching fish after fish after fish when reality can be very different sometimes with those fussy creatures. Cheers
Nice vid, Chris! A friend said April/May22 been tough out there...no mackerel or sabiki action- true? You taking a vaca, or waiting for the action to pick up? Thanks for the tips- I like to see how you rig up; what you use and where you use it. Mahalo
Thanks a lot! Hopefully I can get everything dialed and go try for a yellow tail this summer, I fish the bays a lot but haven’t tried La Jolla yet its pretty intimidating, my hobie is much older and not as stable as the new ones, but that’s just my excuse haha
Another great video, Chris. I think the tips you are giving on fishing rigs and fish finder settings and reading the screen are right on and super helpful for a lot guys out there. Thanks for sharing.
Generally you don't want to dismount the kayak on the beach side if you get turned sideways like that on the landing, it can get pushed over you and you can get injured. Try jumping in on the side towards open water.
The best part of this video is when you kept the cut line in the boat and not thrown in the ocean, you dont know how much this bugs me when I see people do this with fishing line, cigarettes, etc. Thank you for not only sharing such a super great video but for also respecting God’s creation and for the creatures in it.
Another great video! Really appreciate your tips. Would love to hear how you search for bait. I’ve always stopped by the kelp first to load up on what I’ve been told is Scad Mackerel. I then go on the hunt for greenbacks while dragging a Carolina rig on the bottom. However, I have not yet been able to find them. Are you chasing birds to find the greenbacks? And BTW, nice recovery. I’m heading off to Minnesota in the morning to do some walleye fishing, otherwise I’d be out in the kelp this weekend.

I always pull the fins up before landing and use the paddle to steer.
Thanks man.
Great video. What was the brand of the gold reel and rod setup?
Any tips for catching mackerel without a fish finder?

@@chrisblevinsfishing Of course. But I really like the idea of the reverse dropper loop. Never thought of doing that. Glad you presented it.

@@chrisblevinsfishing Thats a great sign man! THe skiff is awesome! Just need to make some rod holders for trolling bait and she's ready to kill!

Thanks for the info. I'll be getting my Hobie PA12 in February. Do you do guide service out of La Jolla?
Love La Jolla yellow fishing. Keep up the videos. Glad I’m not the only one getting skunked from time to time.
Loving these videos!
Nice vid Chris 🤙🏽 getting better bud.

Can definitely appreciate the skunk and agree that its an important side to show. Thanks for another solid video!
What weight do you normally use on your carolina rig?
Hi Angel. I use 3 and 4 ounce sliding eggs for my Carolina rigs in La Jolla. Thanks for watching!

NorCal kayak angler here. We’re coming down mid June, how far out will we need to go to run into yellowtail. Thanks for the great info!
Chris Blevins I’ll take a guide referral. Just got my first kayak and am trying to learn as much as I can as I start up. Thanks for the video!
@@chrisblevinsfishing Thank you. My main concern is with time of year. I would love a referral, thanks again.
As of right now, yes.
Chris Blevins I’m still following for the recommendation, been out a couple times and all I have to show for it is blisters and birdsnests😬
Thank you for another great video.

Chris, how much weight do you have on your Carolina rig here? Thx
Great video. What Lowrance are you using?
what are those pants called?? I need some of those for early morning!!
Hi Neena! These are breathable stockingfoot waders. They were about 100$ on amazon. Try this link! amzn.to/3hLDtnn
