    Probably worth the money as they’ve thought the thing through and applied fairly decent counter-measures. I’d like to see it offered in vivid red, orange, or yellow. I have a bad habit of forgetting cable locks etc., with predictable enough results. Old age beckons; it’s not here yet but I can see it coming! 😁

    Morning, uncle Stu! Nice video once again. It's nice to hear about some decent security items for the bikes that can be carried around. On my bike I'm using a 22mm chain with an Oxford padlock, and I also have an alarm installed. But the best bike thief deterrent device that I have is the bike itself - it is one of those considered boring and dull, and generally undesirable bikes that no-one would buy. My buddies often joke that I must hide some money somewhere on the bike in order to tempt thieves to steal it. So, that's another advice that I have - buy "ugly, dull and boring" bikes!

    Good morning Stu. Another good video. When I started riding you didn’t need much security on bikes. Even in London. Now it takes an hour to get the bike out and get my kit on before a ride. As for a moving to Gods own country, I would in a heartbeat if it wasn’t for family. Love the place.

To everyone watching this video, the takeaway here is that the character of the 'TH-camr' is every bit as important as the entertainment & informational content they produce! This looks like a good product and a lot more portable than a chain and padlock.
    As for those Toe Rag Thieves, I've seen those vids here on YT where a gang of two
    steal expensive push bikes in a large city, openly carrying bolt cutters and a battery
    powered angle grinder, caught on security cameras spraying sparks everywhere
    from the angle grinder in broad daylight, all the while Joe Public walks on by
    pretending not to notice anything. Of course they see what's going on, but
    they fear that these scumbags are carrying knives, which they most probably are.
    This is the world that we sadly have to put up with.

    Good morning Stu. Ah yes, the "opportunist". It's a sad fact that after a quick recce, they will often move on if something looks a little more difficult to "obtain" - sadly to someone else's property. That The Litelock loop looks a decent product, not only because it's been manufactured to be resistant to attack but also the lock mechanism - which you've thoughtfully demonstrated not to need the key for closing. I also like the soft sleeve which will prevent scratching etc. Not too bulky either. I still couldn't carry one easily on the T100 without a backpack or pannier, but I could loop it over my shoulder quite comfortably by the looks of it. Thanks for the demo 👍

    • @johnrickards1908
      @johnrickards1908 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Oh Mr Ball, I wouldn't be tempted to transport a bike lock over my shoulder. Having done my time as a Police motorcyclist, I've seen the results of many an accident where the lock, carried in such manner, became a neck and vertebrae cruncher; not to mention the one case where the rider, having suffered a quite innocuous spill was almost choked to death by a length of heavy mooring chain as he lay, unconscious at the roadside.

    • @PhilipBallGarry
      @PhilipBallGarry ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnrickards1908 Good point - thank you 🙏. I'll have to contend with my disc lock for now. My insurance co insisted on an insurance approved security device whenever I leave my bike away from home. They did allow for the disc lock as a minimum - when I said it was impractical to carry a large chain and padlock everywhere on that style of bike.

    I know this is taking things to extremes but once when talking to a former copper, he told me that he once got a call about a Harley that was stolen on Pitt St in Sydney in the middle of the day(very busy area lots of people). Long story short, a truck with a hi ab pulled up lifted the bike on the back and drove off, when questioned the people who saw it just thought it was a repocession and never gave it another thought. Took about five minutes to steal in broad daylight, bike never recovered.

      My X3 arrived yesterday so will combine it with my D1000 and 3 motion alarm sensor,
      A angle grinder will eventually get through any metal with time
      But the alarms will definitely make at least 99.9 %of thieves run away from 330 decibels of noise unless they are wearing ear plugs/protective ear covering they will significantly damage their ear drums

On returning to the bike minutes later some miscreant had pinched the high security lock and chain. No use to them but a huge inconvenience to me. Couldn’t help but notice the hitching post was secured to the ground with four nuts. It looked like the flange might pass through the lock? If not, remove eight nuts and take the whole thing or cut the hitching post. I know, I’m being defeatist. Know I own this lock too.

    I was just thinking when you translate the philosophy to e-bikes or regular bikes, how much do you suppose the value of the bike compensates for the better locking up an astute owner is going to routinely practice compared to other guys? Compensates that is for the inherent theft dissuasion from better locking.

    I have three of the litelok not the D lock ones like the first one in your vid for today but the two insurance company's I am with never heard of them they are bikesure and carole Nash which I think is so naff that they don't no about them I keep them in a garage of course with a iron gate across the door and a garage defender to and I think both said they did not no what a garage defender was I think don't quote me on that

    The music used here sounds very similar to the Theme from the first 'Sweeney' film. Very appropriate 🙂Spot on comments re motorcycle thieves I think. No bike will ever be thief proof but so long as it's far more difficult to steal than the average parked up bike in the neighbourhood, then it's likely to remain un stolen...

    Bike theft is as you probably know a hot topic in Hull at the moment after the death of 2 thieves that couldn't handle the power of the bike they had stolen and paid for the crime with thier lives !
    I always worry about security when out and about and tend never to leave my bike unattended for long periods some kind of Sizzap unit that warns you the bike is moving along with a Litelok would make me a lot happier so maybe it's time to invest .👍🏻

    Keep the old D lock by the front door. Just in case they take long enough for you to show the back of their head what they could have been cutting through…

    great explanation. I live on an estate in London! always kept my bikes in garages, but need one outside now. There's steel bars as in your video, my question is could you link 2 of these togethor if you have to? to link it to the frame, like a link system, why not right?

    maybe the lock itself is thief-proof but that rail that you attached to is easy to grind as hell :DD or just unscrew that 4 screw that holding at the bottom and your bike is gone mate

    You're wasting you're time putting your car by the garage door like that. 2 weeks ago my garage got broken into and smashed my mini side window so they could release the handbrake to move it back. Luckily the alarm went off before they took the bikes but got a couple of stihl strimmers.

      @@stuartfillingham yes I understand that. Just making a point of how they will go to any length to rob you. They also cut of 3 large padlocks with a disc cutter to get in and all at 8.30 pm. I heard the alarm on the mini as mentioned and saw them calmly putting the swag in the back of their car before driving of with a few threats and expletives ringing in their ears. Called 101 the police and without exaggeration took an hour to answer the call. £1250 worth of kit gone. They are so blatant because they know full well the cops do nothing.
