  • New Sandling Junction Build Ep 4, My 100th Video on this Channel, Thanks for your subscribed Support
    Well, the trains move ahead, and in this episode, I will lay more of the fiddle yard, and start the long process of underside electrics and point motor installation. I show you a recently acquired jig to help make it all much easier, along with my thoughts.
    Scenic3d can be found at :
    In addition, this video marks my 100th on the Sandling Junctions TH-cam platform. I just wanted to say a very big thank you to all of you who support my efforts by subscribing,
    commenting, and sharing the work that I do. It really does help so much.

    Good to see your progress, Paul. I reckon it's always useful to run trains as you go so that any problems arise as soon as possible, and you can go forward on the basis that what you've done so far is working.

    nice video, for centering your cobalts a 9 volt battery works well, I also use one when testing that the turnout is working properly

    I’m going to start a steam shed layout to supplement my Dad’s Army layout. The steam shed will be a small enough layout to take it to shows in my own vehicle.

    Dear old dog!! Poor old lovely old pooch!! Although I’m very much a cat man, I admire the good looks of some dogs. The sad thing is that I have an allergy to dog licks.

    My Dad’s Army layout has a three way junction in the fiddle yard, but it’s the type that is a Y point with a third track.

    Paul. It's wonderful to see you making such great progress. I think it's good to have a break from tracklaying and run trains over the track that you've completed. Not only is it fun, but you can detect any faults or problems before you go too far. Pete.

    • @Sandlingjunction
      @Sandlingjunction  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So much work with all of those little pieces of cork ; for a hidden area . Why not just cover the area with a whole sheet of cork first ? Regards , Paddy Owen .

    I don't know if you've spotted it, but on the feed to the fiddle yard, you have a slight "Dog Leg" Joint between the two sections of track. It might not make a difference, but it could be a place where you would have derailments.

    • @Sandlingjunction
      @Sandlingjunction  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The dogleg is definately there. Check as the blue deisel backs into the sidings at 52:00 Minutes. You can see the loco quite clearly change aspect as it traverses that section..

    I am really excited to see this layout develop, great video! FYI, one of the audio channels cuts out at around 14:10. (This is only an issue if you listen with only 1 earbud in place like I do. I had to swap earbuds!)

    Paul, does a OO tandem power the switch blades via the blade tips?

    • @Sandlingjunction
      @Sandlingjunction  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That question went above my grade Neil, I modified my point so that power is constant, and the frog setup inside the cobalt triggers the polarity change, so assume it is all part of the cobalt, as I said it is all above my paygrade sorry, cheers P

    You’re building a totally new Sandling Junction? What happened to the original Sandling Junction? Is it an actual location? And one with a Tube line?

  • @Madonsteamrailways
    @Madonsteamrailways 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Why do we call them bus wires? To me, a double decker is a bus rather than a type of wire.

  • @chelmscotebranch
    @chelmscotebranch 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Looking good Paul, taking your time with the double slip well worth it in the long run. If you've not seen it, Larry Puckett (TheDCCGuy) has a great video on connectors (th-cam.com/video/qJTQNeqNuI0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bCNwTWMOhKzuGag2) - sold me on using the WAGO 221 type splicing and inline connectors for shear ease of use and speed.
