    The SR is the base model. SR5 is the next trim level up.

    All corrections for this video:
    SR is the base model not the SR5
    ECT Power changes the transmission shift points for tow/haul capabilities (literally nothing to do with the outlets)
    The rear seats lift up from the back and the back folds down for even more storage. (Same design they’ve had since 2006)

    The base model Tacoma still gives you way more value and quality that 99% of all other of its competitors do. It will last longer and have the highest resale. Any Tacoma is a good Tacoma.

    • @tmzz3609
      @tmzz3609 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It won't have the highest resale. It will hold the highest percentage of it's original value. A nicer truck with similar miles and year will still sell for more 5 years from now but it will loose more value from MSRP than a base model will.

    You gave a good review, minus a couple of things that you didn’t do your homework on. However, I’m going to mention only 1 thing. The back seats provide an incredible storage space. You lift up the bottom of the seat from the back and fold it toward the front seats. Then you pull the back of the seat down on both sides and it has a hard, sturdy plastic base all the way across the back seat for a lot of FLAT storage. I have an SR5 and I do appreciate you giving a review on this model. Most videos are always reviewing the TRD’s trims and almost make us SR5 owners feel like we’re lesser for not buying the TRD’s

    FYI: I feel like you did not do this model justice, man! It is definitely not the base model, the SR is. For one thing, the rear seats do in fact fold away and there is ample storage under and behind them, which is easily accessible and very convenient.
    Also, in your video, you discounted the ECT button as “power outlets” and then later you stated that there are no additional drive modes. That is exactly what the “ECT” button is!!! A drive mode! It alters the shifting in to a very nice, reactive situation for times when you want to pass, etc., making this little truck more fun!
    And because you missed these notable features, there may be other things you missed. I personally feel that it is a very nice mid-level 4 x 4 vehicle and if you throw on some actual truck tires (perhaps Goodyear Duratrac), it kicks butt!

    This is the color that I wanted to get but surprise surprise they weren't in stock. They couldn't dealer trade either since dealers want to hold onto these sought after colors so I had to make do with what they had and ended up getting the Magnetic Grey Metallic Tacoma SR5. I have to say this color is growing on me. I didn't like over the years from a distance but once I got up close in person with one, it really grew on me. The grey wheels make it look so sharp too! I leased mine for $33,000. The one you reviewed is more expensive due to the fact that it has 4WD, blind spot monitoring, the Cement Grey color, and turn signal mirrors. It's a great truck! That's why they have the same engine and transmission in it for so long: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That also regards the styling. Like you said, it aged well. And it'll continue for a couple more years until the 2024 redesign.

    A little late posting this, but how is the 'road noise' in the modern Tacomas? I've got an old 2006 2WD SR5 access cab and that was the only downside when I bought it. Easy to fix with some insulative material available from online auto parts stores, but still annoying that Toyota didn't address this back then when designing the truck. Other than that its had no problems in 15 years/150K miles, but I'm looking to trade it in for a 2022 before the 2023s come out (supposed to be a turbo-4cyl, not a good idea in my opinion).

    I had a 2017 SR5 4X4 access cab. For me it was uncomfortable! Sit to low to the floor and had no headroom. Infotainment didn't find to be all that great and I had the fancier unit. It was slow and had horrible throttle response. I think my 2013 Tacoma was better. Also from 2013 to 2017 I noticed they put more plastic in it. Barley bumped the back bumper and being it is mostly all plastic it broke off. It also just feels cheap and flimsy compared to my older one. I ended up trading it for a full size truck.

  • @Ojisan642
    @Ojisan642 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hated my 2019 SR5 4X4 V6 (double cab 6’ bed). It felt like it was always in the wrong gear. Either it was in too low of a gear and felt underpowered or if you push that ECT button it would hang onto the gear too long and you are always winding out the engine at high rpm. Hills and freeways not even towing anything and it’s always hunting for a gear. Acceleration from a stop on a 30 mph road or a short test drive at the dealership will not reveal this fundamental weakness of the Taco.
    Look on the Tacoma forums and see how many conversations there are about re-gearing Tacoma’s. You shouldn’t have to do that with a new vehicle. I sold mine after only a year. Good news is they hold their value really well, and I got back most of what I paid for it.

    • @vvt2257
