Why is everyone criticizing him for not singing in the same key as the original? Live is a different animal from studio, where producers might actually look for a "pushier" and brighter sound. Live is always sounding good AND comfortable at the same time 🙃🙃

True. Everything he does is lip synced.

He's slightly off tune occasionally, but I honestly don't mind because his voice is great just the same, and I'd rather hear someone miss a note or two than listening to the same old autotuned version all over again.
I like this song & Daniel Powter's voice, but I would like this song more if you can hear the instruments with singing !!!!

I think I am falling in love with you oh no.....
This is a whole minor third lower than the original. Whoever produced the original did a great job on making a catchy single but Daniel can't actually sing his own song.
lemonbade lemonbade there’s a lot going on that we don’t know. He might not have been feeling his best vocally on that day, might have been sick, he likely performed a full set and in order to not lose his voice, he needs to make some changes in his approach to singing his songs. He’s also without a band right now, so he might have felt it also makes sense to not be reaching for higher notes as much. And on top of all that, maybe they did chose to make the song in a higher key in the studio cause it worked really well in that setting. Some people might say to not record something if you can’t recreate it live, but many of us, including me, would disagree. Making the best possible product in the studio is a beautiful thing, and by best, I mean to accomplish whatever goal is set out to accomplish. Why compromise on the recording when that’s what everyone will be listening to the most? You say “he can’t sing his own song”. That’s a very simple statement that doesn’t take very much into account. This song is amazing in mine and many people’s opinions (clearly, since it was a massive hit), and he pulled it off great in this key. :)
Laurier Lachance I understand what you’re saying. However I’ve not been able to find a single live example of Daniel singing the song in the original key with the actual tune that was written. The tune is great, yet because it was too high he’s had to change it completely to sing it lower! What a shame! People want to hear him sing that song, not one with a completely different melody. I guess we would have to ask Daniel if we were going to find out what really happened.
lemonbade damn well yea recording a song way too high, and then be expected to perform it live. Idk i guess he could’ve recorded it lower but would it have been as much of a hit!? I hope yes. But yea man I haven’t heard anything about this guy in years so maybe he did start his career in a way that couldn’t be maintained? Man now i’m assuming stuff 😂🤙

I wish this guy could actually SING his own fooking song.
Its a lot harder singing live than in a studio. Even the legends sound different live from their studio versions. One excellent example is Freddie Mercury. You gotta conserve your vocal energy onstage to make it last and not burn it out.
