- Ok so im not good at a trip vlog, I do have some nerd shots of rides running as well as a trip report. My son and I Visited Words of Fun in Kansas City Missouri. We had a great time a a park that was super hot but not busy!

It’s so funny watching Ryan riding these. I notice he zooms in on the lift cables, drive tires, the proxy sensors, cables, brakes and nuts and bolts 😁. It’s like he is giving each item a rating 🤣. Should have helped them fix there boomerang coaster while you were there 👍
@@jackschissler255 restraints are open and catch wagon was at the top. That tells me it was ready to run but they didn’t have the crew possibly.

Windseeker Operator: We’re calling maintenance

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but the water sprayers on Mamba aren't actually for the brakes. They're there to cool the wheels down on the left side of the train. They have another set of sprayers during the helix before the midcourse brake run. That coaster has struggled with wearing out the left side wheels very quickly due to heat issues, especially through the helix. During one of my visits many years ago, the ride appeared to be running nylon wheels (it was a light grey, almost white material). One of the nylon portions of a wheel seemed to have lost it's adhesion to the central part of the wheel and fell into the ride's plaza area. It came off whole, but the inside of it looked frayed. Though, I don't know enough to determine whether that was a heat related issue or a manufacturing quality problem. Either way, I'm thankful it didn't hit a guest.
@@j-coasters yea when I first shot it I thought it was trying to hit the brake. After riding feeling the helix water I put the two together and assumed they were cooling wheels down.
The Skyline shade is on point. I only rode HQCC 3 times when it existed. It felt and sounded like being in a car crash.
I was honestly surprised!

@@Doofles ooffff. Man it was rough. Like having a brick in your stomach at 2Gs. We both had to wait a bit more after the “Panda Express compressor” hahaha!!
I can only imagine what it must be like to visit a park with Ryan The Ride Mechanic.

Ha! Thanks. Nearest park is 2.5hr away so it’s hard. Not impossible but hard.

You should come out to SeaWorld for the surf coaster! I'm sure theres some GREAT nerd shots of that, also a flyer, and the new protoype B&M family coaster
Some day I’ll get out there. Right now if we are in Orlando we are going to Disney. Hope also to make it to islands of adventure as well one day.
Worlds of Fun was nicer, bigger and better than I expected.
It was a confusing layout to navigate for us.

Those Windseekers need to go. Cedar Fair put one in each park, each one gets stuck several times a season. You would think they would find the issue and remedy it. If I was a mechanic and had to do a rescue on it several times/season, I would request. That it goes. Obviously Mondial has issues but can’t find a fix.
@@jackschissler255 we had issues with the star flyers and corp engineers ended up making a whole bunch of changes to the program to make them run more reliably. That was A very odd circumstance for us.

Oh god, where to start 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Windseeker at Cedar Point took so long on a manual mode evc I got 2 rides on Gatekeeper with lines to watch. Next time I went I got on Windseeker, hoping it would fault so I could work on my tan😂 Dang thing worked like it was supposed to, oh well. I can also sympathize the struggle is real trying to get good nerd shots, I fail more than I succeed. By far, the best part of this was the father and son comedy😂😂😂😂

Cyclone Sam will always be one of my favorite flat rides, and I'm glad to see how many people are pleasantly surprised by it. Beyond being fun and unique, it's AIR CONDITIONED! Best ride feature, hands down.

I get a free large dippin dots this month at my local park. (Season pass holder loyalty program, had to go 11 times in 14 days to get the free dippin dots but I live close). 😊😅
My parks app deleted my pass and that's how they do pass perks. So no perks for me this season. I really think they owe me a Dippin dots for the money they are saving 😂😂😂

I have to add, being a parent who loves rides/coasters almost always guarantees your kids will think you’re cool. Love to see you and your son having a great time together.
@@CritterCrossingFam thank you so much! Head got a great sense of humor. My daughter does to but she was working this trip. I’ll bring up a WTF situation and sometimes my sone will inject “yes but did you like and subscribe” I get a kick out of it. But they watch TH-cam constantly. Honestly in my opinion I’d rather watch TH-cam over network tv. TH-cam creators have less holding them back and they don’t care really what rating will do unless they are a full timer.
@@ryantheridemechanic totally agree about preferring TH-cam over network TV! My kids barely know what network TV is, which is cool in my book. I’d rather them watch all the super focused content they enjoy, which is usually offbeat and educational, of their choosing.
Having funny and awesome kids who also enjoy the same things is just the best part of life! My daughter loves Magnum at Cedar Point because it’s “a people eater” in terms of capacity. I smile so big when she says it!
@@CritterCrossingFam that’s such a Disney term! Well I first heard that from Disney when they introduced the Omni mover systems that can do 1450 people an hour. Refered to it as a people eater haha.

lol I loved that evac. I can’t believe manual mode was that slow getting them down. I was considering riding one of those rides. However after seeing that ride evac it is a no for me. Hey man in number 4 we will have you down soon. I’m dead☠️ edited to say it looks like you both had a blast!
I’m told a normal recovery is faster. But I have nothing to back that up.

@@christiwright3604 not personally. In fact the only real time I’ve come close to dealing with these is when the one at Knots got stuck for 3 hours up there.

Ryan I understand why Mine Blower in Florida received GCIs new steel track, and Lightning Rod, Tremors, Timber Terror, Boulderdash & 1 or 2 others I'm missing. However, Zambezi Zinger is the first brand-new coaster to install this ugly, noisy, horrible track. My question for you is WHY? Why did GCI decide to use their steel track only on the lift and wood track on the rest?
@@crooked-halo the area around the steel lift and surrounding supports, had a lot of stress on them that a wood laminate stack would not be able to take. At least not without a massive substructure. So my guess is that the steel is doing a functional job to help the train in those areas and other places they were able to construct traditional wood by standard as much lower cost to maintain so I can see that probably would’ve brought the price of the ride way down.
I have a feeling all those wind seeker rides are gonna be replaced with Funtime star flyers eventually
Maybe. I know the Funtime flyer. I’m not impressed with the wind seeker.
you mentioned there was only a small number of on that ride. Could be out of balance and get a harmonic going or is not fast enough for that ??
@@martindooley4439 anything is possible. The sub structure looks big enough that the external weight shouldn’t affect it. But I’m unfamiliar with the safety programming so I can’t really dive deep on it.
Queue the jeopardy theme song for the slowest ride evac.

detonator is probably gen 1 cause I rode that in 95 or 96?
It really threw me not seeing the return cable. Luckily maintenance was able to talk with me and get some info. Very nice guy.
It even sounds different!

@@adriandesantiago4748 yes. And it’s also whey the cylinders only stop 3/4 of the way up and the top is just dead space.

Skyline designs all layouts for GCI. Skyline is a parent company of GCI as well. Or more like daughter company how is that called in English?
@@DJWezzyK if skyline owns GCI, skyline would be the parent, GCI would be the child.
@@ryantheridemechanic It is the other way round. GCI owns Skyline, according to their C.E.O. in a interview at I.A.A.P.A. Orlando.

@@ryantheridemechanic Yes. And Skyline does all the layout designs for GCI. And GCI uses Skyline now as a brand for their steel coasters. At least that is how they explained it in the interview.
How many times did you see their Windseeker fault? So strange that they lowered it so slowly. The Windseeker at my former park was able to lower after a fault much faster 😅
It was running for well we will just say (I think it was running) I saw one cycle and saw this fault.

those Windseeker rides are not named correctly. they can't operate in the wind
