I've heard that putting some grease on the spring will hold it in place when installing.
What about an automatic transmission? Can I still fill it by myself?
My 2007 Caliber has Automatic transmission. When I removed the inner part of transaxle lots of oil fluid started pooring out. Is this CVT oil or other kind of oil?
I have this same question. I have a sticker that says ATF+4 fluid but some people say CVT fluid
Holymoly , that's by the book R/R just to replace axle seals.... Much faster just popping out lower ballpoint , caliper hose bracket then pop axle out transmission, then just push out on rotor letting axle hang down, or Push axle up and let rest against transmission case while you r/r seal. Push back out on rotor while guiding axle back into transmission, pulling rotor towards you till axle snaps back in, reinstall rest back reverse order. Dodge calibers use CVT fluid for the Automatics too so ATF+4 is not for them. AWD calibers REQUIRE the right axe to be removed entirely due to shaft goes through PTO, Left side done like FWD.Rear seals done by removing lower control arms and he samll cross braces so when you push out on hubs the axles hang down.Replace seals and push back out on hubs to guide axles back into carrier.Check fluids and Bam done...use 2 small pry bars , axles pop out easy when you apply equal force across from each other.Trying to pry only on one side makes it come out more difficult.
My Caliber is a 2007 5 speed manual RT. I’ve done the front right successfully but the front left is giving me a lot of trouble. It’s in but when I slightly pull out it moves about 3mm leaving a gap. The seal needs to be installed at the casing of the axel before installing? And then the fluid. I bought ATF+4 but now I’m nervous to use it. What type of fluid is it ? 75W0
@@FireknightarthurI was just underneath mine (2009 SXT with a 5-speed manual) doing the cross member and I am 99% certain there was a metal tag on my transmission that said ATF-4 on it.
My Axle has thrust in it towards the transmission, is this the side that is bad? When I turn right I hear the noise, but that is the side that feels loose. The left side feels solid. I do not see any broken boots on either side.
