Being in school to become an aircraft mechanic, I've learned boxer engines are extremely prominent in general aviation (Cessna & Piper sized). Almost all small planes use boxers for harmonic balancing, and it makes it easier to pull off and swap cylinders out and rebuild the motors.
As an actual A&P mechanic, they are used in general aviation. But not as “boxer engines” it’s horizontally opposed engines. Like the Lycoming. The TIO-540-A2B was the one we overhauled.

I live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I’m 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
I used to work on inline opposing 4 and 6 cylinder engines. The big 6's had a C. I. D. of 560 and all the big 6's had these two (sometimes 4) "tabs" on the crankshaft for counter weights. They didn't always have counter weights, but they all had those "tabs. " The pistons diameter were like cantaloupes. And the wrist pins weren't pressed in or kept in place by snap rings. They had these little aluminum plugs with the cylinder walls at one end ("top" of the plug) and the wrist pin at the other (the plugs "bottom".....and now I think about it, sounds dirty).
He also doesn't bring up the fact that Subaru engines need to be split in half for disassembly or that the Pistons are removed from the connecting rods before the block can be split. They are really a pain in the ass to build
