So many clever tie ins. So many good moments. The ship bit was incredible. And Reva fighting Vader was so great and had me thinking of Ahsoka's fight to get her crystals. But When Obi-Wan puts his hand against the door so gently to talk to Reva... that got me as much as the Reva flashbacks. Just so much compassion in that man.

The episode felt like reading a really good comic! Vader pulling down the ship, cutting to the duel and then ending on Luke. Chef's kiss of an episode.

The whole episode was full of so many cool moments. My favorite was Vader using weak force pushes to redirect 3rd sister’s attacks. There’s something about the moments where The Force is used effortlessly. Yoda/X-Wing, Obi-Wan/“not the droids”, that kid at the end of TLJ with the broom…

To those wondering why Vader didn't order his star destroyer or a squadron of Tie Fighters to intercept the escaping ship, the answer is obvious. He wants to be the one to kill Obi-Wan and he wants to do it face to face. And maybe on an unconscious level the "good in him" that Luke will eventually sense doesn't really want Obi-Wan to die at all. Perhaps the only reason he finally strikes the killing blow in Episide 4 is because it seemed to him like Obi-Wan wanted him to, or maybe part of him was hoping that Obi-Wan had a new trick up his sleeve in that moment. On a conscious level I think Vader would rather prolong the chase than let someone else kill Obi-Wan.

This is an episode every theatre and film teacher will be pointing to as the ideal going forward. It's framed perfectly, and the back and forth of the past and present duels is incredible writing. It's Star Wars perfection from everyone in it. Reva's pain as Vader comes toward her at the end was just heartbreaking. And Hayden and Ewan back in that master apprentice sparring match is something all of us who grew up on the prequels have wanted for years. Perfect

Definitely the strongest episode so far. Did a decent job of redeeming some of my concerns/the things I didn’t like from the previous episodes. Reva is far more convincing, in my opinion, as a former Jedi Padawan than as an Inquisitor. I just didn’t buy her as a villain, good twist and I thought she was far better in this episode than any of the previous installments.

I'm not sure it was a flashback per se, I get the feeling it was Vader's kinda dreaming about the current situation but kinda rewriting it in his mind as a friendly banter with his old master in their prime, his internal self-perception being projected in his mind instead of his real deformed and maimed self. So not really a memory, more of a mental construct, as if the actions of Obi-Wan were reflected as new teachings. As if Obi-Wan's presence made Anakin in him stir internally. I think it would explain the absence of deaging.

Great breakdown as always Dan... it's great to see the connections Legends novels & other stories.
So many things wrong with this episode (---SPOILERS-- below, just off the top of my head... I'm sure there are more):
    1. During the breach, none of the refugees considered moving the crates to form some cover to hold the door outer? There were clearly crates in the background... considering they had a war-tested former general in their midst... yeesh.
    2. You would think that for someone trying to keep the identity of Luke secret, he'd destroy his holo or at the very least delete Organa's message... yeesh... ~somehow Luke still needs to get in trouble somehow for the final act.
    3. What's the point of bringing Obi-Wan back inside when he could be secured outside surrounded by herself and troopers? ~Other than to give the Jedi a chance to escape by leaving him guarded by a few troopers?
    4. Come on, Vader's Star Destroyer couldn't be bothered to send down a squadron of Tie Fighters to keep anyone from escaping?
    5. None of the refugees thought that hiding in a transport ship would be better than mulling around in the open waiting for shock troopers to pick them off?
    6. During the transport ship's escape, he kept it from escaping & slamming it to the ground which would've been a perfect time for Reva to strike... where the heck was she?
    7. As pointed out by Gabriel below, he didn't even make an effor to raise his hand to try to stop it or contact his Destroyer for an intercept... duh?
    8. After the fight, they really left Reva to die rather than finishing the troublemaker off? At the very least, the Grand Inquisitor should hold a grudge & chop off a limb or two for his satisfaction... but nooo... he just walks away... ~the plot armor is strong in this one.
Clearly they'll probably give Reva some kind of redemption/closure in the last episode ... perhaps even taking over for Tala, to become the savior to other hunted kids that she wish she had. Oh well... one more episode.

  • @YoJesusMorales
    @YoJesusMorales 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, that force use was OP, pretty good. What I dislike is the pacing of the show, too stretch out for me. Reva just taking down the steel bar or whatever is what I was wondering why she didn't do before then, annoying honestly, just have her fly in later and be OP by using the universal key that is a lightsaber. And why would you keep equipment essential to operate the hangar door, inaccessible for maintenance by a repair man? silly things that kept me distracted. Oh yeah someone mentioned, so annoying that nobody took cover once Reva opened the door, just in the open shooting at each other at like 10ft apart, and they were *_still_* missing.

Did anyone else think the storm trooper and refugee battle was done really poorly? Like with how much shooting was happening in what appeared to be 10 ft apart. I know obi was blocking shots but there were alot of troopers in very close quarters. This tv show has slightly messed up a famous scene from Star Wars 1977. If Leia at 10 had this bond with Kenobi from this show’s adventure AND if Leia was the one in Star Wars 1977 to ask (in the holo recording) for Kenobi’s help then as the group made a break for the Falcon to escape the Death Star, Leia should have recognized (older) Kenobi with the lightsaber battling Vader. And Kenobi should have recognized her too. Plus on the Falcon Luke was the sad one from Ben’s death but Leia wasn’t sad at all. She acted like she didn’t even know him but this tv show proves otherwise. That’s the continuity problem a writing team can get into with these glimpses into the past.
