Funnily enough, the mud DID serve a purpose in the original, it actually slowed you down enough so that the next area would load. That was one of the big goals for Krome was to have almost no loading screens, so sometimes they had to implement stuff like that to fulfill it.
Fun fact actually, the mud and sand sections that slowed you down DID serve a purpose in the original. According to the developers, the mud was meant to slow the player and serve as a makeshift loading screen between areas. Because the consoles of the generation couldn't load the rest of the map on the fly, the mud and sand would slow you to a crawl so the parts of the map you were headed towards could load in. Now that the re-release is on more modern hardware, the rest of the map loads in while driving at normal speed, so the slow effect was removed.

32:55: The funny thing about TY 3 is, there's actually a way to bypass the melee combat almost entirely, now granted you have to get to Cassopolis first but once there you can buy some Earth Stones which are the best stones in the game combat-wise for one reason: combining two of them into one Chassis gives the boomerang the properties of the Kaboomerang, to make it easier to obtain them there's also bags of Opals just by the shop that give a fair amount of Opals, then you can just save, quit and reload the file and get more Opal bags until you have enough for the best Chassis (for six stone slots) or just to get two Earth Stones. One of the best Chassis to equip two Earth Stones to is the Lash Chassis because it gives exploding grapple hooks with a fast rate of fire. The custom boomerang system is a good idea on paper, in fact having two Stones of the same type giving the AOE versions is a great idea but the problem is the Quinkan will always block your Boomerangs from a distance unless you freeze them with two Water Stones or make them explode outright with two Earth Stones since they can't block explosions.
I love this series. I’m glad you’ve covered it a couple times. You’re one of the only channels I’ve ever watched to cover this series. Makes me happy. Not many people I know knew what Ty was growing up
With the Australian animal explanation, toy demonstration and your enthusiasm for the opening segment of the game, it's clear to see you had a lot of fun making this video, as I did watching it. It's also really cool that your videos got recognised by the developers and your feedback considered.
That 5/5 star rating really says it all. Chrome studios has to go down in history as one of the most involved and passionate developers of their game/ series. Constantly listening to feedback, improving things. And maybe. Hopefully even remastering TY 3 to be a much better game. Really respect them a lot
Course i can see these as going down memory lane for some players, or perhaps they have kids of their own and so it’s a good way for their kids to play the games they played when they were their age. And hey with a remaster like this, it lets a studio give the game a second chance by fixing all the issues.
i played the shit outa TY 1 when i was a toddler to kid and then played ty 2 alot. when i found out they were getting remastered i pre ordered and backed it up and boom i got the first one on my ps4 then boom the TY 2 remaster comes out in 7 days and i already cant wait i remember looking up "ty for ps3" all the time when i was younger bc i really wanted to play it again
Not many people have talked about these games and they hold a very special place in my heart and I’ve never seen your videos on these games but I appreciate you giving them the treatment they deserve
So glad you gave this game a second look like you did the first when it got remastered! Ty 2 was always my favourite of the trilogy as well and I'm glad it's getting more of the recognition it deserves nowadays.
This looks like a great game that I never ever heard of. I'm very happy the devs did a remaster of the game and made very intuitive changes, that's gonna give their game a longer lifespan.
Now they need to remaster the 3rd ty game. Supposedly the worst one that I didn't know existed until a few years ago when i owned the first 2 since I was a kid.
Yeah it was a very long time after I played the hell out of 2 that I learned 3 ever existed. Never played it but looking at gameplay I can see why it's the worst. It's...oof
When I was like 9, I was gifted an old original Xbox from my uncle with 3 games, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 being among them. I remembered Ty being amazing, but after replaying it on the switch, I realize back then I only made it through like 10 percent of the missions. I would say this is one of the most underrated early 2000’s platformers.
Nothing like a brand new nice long nitrorad video to make your day. My mom has cancer and my cat of 7 years just died so this is definitely some cheering up i could use :)
Subpar? I mean maybe it’s my Nintendo bias speaking, but a 2D Metroid 15 years in the works, a WarioWare title, more Breath of the Wild 2 info, Shin Megami Tensei V, and a shit ton of really good looking remasters and collections is pretty bulky.
@@thevioletbee5879 Definitely fair, I think Nintendo had the strongest showing no doubt. Just meant in general. Ubisoft, Square Enix, Summer Games Fest, and Capcom were all lackluster imo despite all having a couple cool moments. Just wasn't a mind-blowing E3 like most others.
Hey NitroRad. Not sure if your read comments or not, but I just wanted to say thanks for doing these videos for 3D platformers. I never heard of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger before, but after watching your videos of the first & second Ty games, I would gladly check these games out, when I can. I will buy them for my Nintendo Switch of course. Ever since I played games like Spyro The Dragon, I have been very interested in trying out some different 3D platformers, but because I only grew up with the PS2, I didn't have that many options, aside from maybe Ratchet & Clank 1 from 2002 (if that counts as a platformer), but that's about it. I didn't know about Sly Cooper & Jak & Daxter until many years later. When watching your videos, your remind me of the days when video games were suppose to be fun, unique & experimental. And it always gives me good vibes & very nostalgic feelings.
3:57 Talk to any Australian. This is what our culture is about; being self aware, pulling no punches, and not sugar coating it. I’ve recently listened to every NitroRad and AntDude reviews while working. I gotta say dude I agree with your points a lot more, just from what you value in a game minus a few things with horror.
I love the cast of the Ty games! So many cool characters. I have a soft spot for birds, and love reptiles and frogs. Lots of those in these games. Also ironic that any of the Koalas are geniuses, considering how absolutely smooth and tiny between the ears they are in life. Also, Ty is literally the most polite of any of the gaming legends that he beat up in the ads. It still is one of the funniest aspects of hindsight for this series.
In spite of that ad that had Ty scare Sonic, Crash, and Spyro in the hospital, I feel that all three would get along with him. Also I was shocked that they got the idea to add gyro aiming after seeing your video
@@NitroRad It’d be more likely for Ty beat the living crap out of Eggman, Ripto, and Dr. Cortex and I wish I had the money to commisison someone to remake a print ad with those three in place of their enemies. I feel like the modern equivalent would be Hat Kid having beaten up Yooka, Laylee, Beck, Skylar, and Plux or Izuku, Ochako, Tenya, Shouto, and Katsuki beating up the Teen Titans
This was my first "open world" game, even though it kind of isn't really. I remember getting completely lost while driving around. Despite driving hopelessly for hours, my kid brain didn't think to just load the save. Eventually I just turned the PS2 on and off, and was so incredibly relieved to be back in the town when the game booted up. It was legitimately worrying at the time, but I can look back on the experience fondly. Thanks for the memories, Nitro Rad!
26:35 Depending on the game, sometimes I prefer when the final mission is essentially a "victory lap" of sorts (assuming there's been a relatively challenging section prior to it). I feel Titanfall 2 did that really well with its endgame sequences.

I love how he's sneakily inserting more and more bionicle into his vids. Was never able to get the Tarakava but I did have the Boxor lol. It just makes me hyped for the inevitable Bionicle vid!
The mudpatches actually did serve a purpose, I've learned this watching TY 2 stream: The part of the map you were going to enter up ahead had to be loaded, so they placed mudpatches there to slow you down so the game could load in properly. But considering the HD version doesn't need heavy loading, they improved a lot of gameplay! Like removing some walls on the road, 'nerfed' mudpatches....and above all, made the hub world of Burramudgee seamless almost without any loading walls anymore.
30:37 in that area you can grind for opals very easy by getting the bags in the area then going to the race in the same area, starting it and then leaving, which resets the area and just do that over and over until you have the desired amount of opals

What an icon, creates an entire country just to avoid getting arrested
I love this series. I’m glad you’ve covered it a couple times. You’re one of the only channels I’ve ever watched to cover this series.
Makes me happy. Not many people I know knew what Ty was growing up
new nitro rad? i'm so glad!
When it’s NitroRad, I just can’t be sad!
With the Australian animal explanation, toy demonstration and your enthusiasm for the opening segment of the game, it's clear to see you had a lot of fun making this video, as I did watching it. It's also really cool that your videos got recognised by the developers and your feedback considered.
Well this has been quite a review, crikey. Also didn’t expect that crossover.
It's about time one of you video essay making weirdos covered Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 1 & 2. Underrated.
Well thank you so much for requesting gyro aiming, because that made some sections that gave me trouble as a kid an absolute and pleasant breeze!
That 5/5 star rating really says it all. Chrome studios has to go down in history as one of the most involved and passionate developers of their game/ series. Constantly listening to feedback, improving things. And maybe. Hopefully even remastering TY 3 to be a much better game. Really respect them a lot
The sad thing about these games are, the games were remastered a few years ago and people are now just finding put about them.
They were only recently remastered for console.
@@pileofsand8756 yup, they were on steam long before
Course i can see these as going down memory lane for some players, or perhaps they have kids of their own and so it’s a good way for their kids to play the games they played when they were their age. And hey with a remaster like this, it lets a studio give the game a second chance by fixing all the issues.
yeah but at least people are finding out about them.
i played the shit outa TY 1 when i was a toddler to kid and then played ty 2 alot. when i found out they were getting remastered i pre ordered and backed it up and boom i got the first one on my ps4 then boom the TY 2 remaster comes out in 7 days and i already cant wait i remember looking up "ty for ps3" all the time when i was younger bc i really wanted to play it again
Not many people have talked about these games and they hold a very special place in my heart and I’ve never seen your videos on these games but I appreciate you giving them the treatment they deserve
I remember this one being considerably better than Ty 1 to me, and also that my disc was scratched to where it would stop working at a certain point.
Mine got scratch to the point of not working at all. When I was a kid I couldn't even beat the first boss.
I absolutely love the production value here. Your videos have seriously gone from great to amazing over the years. Keep it up James 👍🏼
Now they need to remaster the 3rd ty game. Supposedly the worst one that I didn't know existed until a few years ago when i owned the first 2 since I was a kid.
If you’ve got any interest in PC it’s been on Steam for a few years. The ports are recent and not too different from the console remasters.
Yeah it was a very long time after I played the hell out of 2 that I learned 3 ever existed. Never played it but looking at gameplay I can see why it's the worst. It's...oof
@@hheecckk526 It's actually really fun once you cheat your way out of combat with a couple earth stones.
@@NotSoCheezyYT having to exploit mechanic to make a game more fun just proves the game was poorly designed
OH MY GOD. A SQUARE EYED JAK AND NITRO RAD CROSSOVER. HELL YES.
Nothing like a brand new nice long nitrorad video to make your day. My mom has cancer and my cat of 7 years just died so this is definitely some cheering up i could use :)
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO
i've been meaning to rewatch your ty reviews again so this is a Treat :]
12:58 I thought I recognized that voice! IT’S SO NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN, FRIEND!! A crossover I didn’t know I wanted
While E3 may have been subpar, at least we can sit down at the end and enjoy a new nitro rad video
Subpar? I mean maybe it’s my Nintendo bias speaking, but a 2D Metroid 15 years in the works, a WarioWare title, more Breath of the Wild 2 info, Shin Megami Tensei V, and a shit ton of really good looking remasters and collections is pretty bulky.
I agree. Nintendo was very underwhelming this time. At least Metroid Dread looked cool even though I haven't gotten into that franchise yet.
The way you transition between topics is incredible. Gonna send this video to my english professor
Can’t wait for your review of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Thank you so much dude! For giving this series the love it deserves!
One more thing: Square Eyed Jak?! I love that guy! I didn’t know that you guys knew each other! Hi, Jak!
LOL 😂
What?
Thought he said Square Out Jack. Thanks
What? We’re friends on Facebook, man! He even responded to me once or twice!
I am Australian and this episode was hilarious 😂
3:57 Talk to any Australian. This is what our culture is about; being self aware, pulling no punches, and not sugar coating it. This franchise managed to really show the bush and the land down under in such a tongue in cheek way... that is SO US! 13:26 "LISTEN YA DRONGO!" Yes, like that! EXACTLY LIKE THAT!
I mean, that hub world you love? Rural communities, AND I MEAN COMMUNITIES, are like this. The life, the energy, the warmth. I love it so much.
8:46 the editing really threw me off on that one, I like it when I can tell this is the first time or first time in a while you or other creators make an certain joke or edit because it always feel weird and makes it funnier whenever someone who has an signature way of doing something on TH-cam breaks it.
I don't know why you putted way more gags than usual in this specific video, but I must admit that I love it !
I missed you man. Welcome back bro ❤️
I’ve always loved that no matter how many explosions you create nothing bad happens to the game, no slowdowns or game crashes (that I’ve seen)
Also I was shocked that they got the idea to add gyro aiming after seeing your video
ty's like the nicest dude. Way more likely to bring the gang some home baked pie than he is to beat the living crap outta them lmao
@@misterzygarde6431 good one, Mate!
@@NitroRad I’d have to agree! He seems like a stand-up guy!
The Jak cameo was epic
The Square Eyed Jak cameo was so unexpected that I love it. Two of my favorite content creators in one video!
We really need the Bionicle review more than ever now. Especially if it includes the punchy ones.
Amazing vid, as always! Such an underrated channel. All the love from Ontario, Canada :)
Got my man Square Eye Jack
The rim lighting on this episode is just 😎👌
I remember trying to climb up that upwards angled road only to continuously fail.
26:35 Depending on the game, sometimes I prefer when the final mission is essentially a "victory lap" of sorts (assuming there's been a relatively challenging section prior to it). I feel Titanfall 2 did that really well with its endgame sequences.
Cool! I wasn’t expecting you to review this game until the PS4 version dropped! I backed this game, I don’t regret doing so, and I’m REALLY looking forward to The Doomeranger part 2! It’s a comic they promised to make if they reached a specific stretch goal, which they did! Speaking of, how are you reviewing this game?
How is he reviewing this game?
It’s in the video you must have clicked on to post your comment 🤡
@@Robert-tl2vg you’re right! I didn’t even see Square Eyed Jak yet!
Did YOU back this game? Cause I did!
I found you through your early Ty and Silent Hill videos, and seeing you cover Ty again is absolutely making my heart react happily.
Love your channel, stay cool man.
32:30 oh my god, Tys fighting heartless?
James i always look forward to your videos. I adore how well paced each video is and I often fall asleep to your videos and have to watch them again, and I don't mind that at all. Your Ty videos were some of the first i saw and I've stuck around ever since.
I freaking love the second game of TY
Which second do you love?
I love how he's sneakily inserting more and more bionicle into his vids. Was never able to get the Tarakava but I did have the Boxor lol. It just makes me hyped for the inevitable Bionicle vid!
Gee Ty, how come the industry lets you have TWO remasters?
The mudpatches actually did serve a purpose, I've learned this watching TY 2 stream:
The part of the map you were going to enter up ahead had to be loaded, so they placed mudpatches there to slow you down so the game could load in properly.
But considering the HD version doesn't need heavy loading, they improved a lot of gameplay! Like removing some walls on the road, 'nerfed' mudpatches....and above all, made the hub world of Burramudgee seamless almost without any loading walls anymore.
E3 and nitro rad new video lets goo
Metroid dread hype
Metroid Dread and actual BOTW 2 gameplay footage hype
@Mary Moon I agree
30:37 in that area you can grind for opals very easy by getting the bags in the area then going to the race in the same area, starting it and then leaving, which resets the area and just do that over and over until you have the desired amount of opals
Oh boy a nitro rad remake, it’s old bit also new at the same time
I LOVE NitroRad! I’ve loved him ever since I saw his Voodoo Vince review! I wonder what he thinks of VV: Remastered.
He didn’t make the game.
Yeah no shit, I mean the video because he’s made a ty 2 video before
Let's just settle this here and now, NitroRad is the ONLY man capable of playing a human version of Ty
Someone's gonna be happy about that fatal frame announcement
Wasnt it the worst in the series? I think they shouldve ported the other ones
@@raymonddfigueroa8382 What about a compilation of the first three to try & gauge interest followed by bringing over the last two? Also the most interesting thing to me about the announcement is that it's being published by Koei Tecmo instead of Big N.
5:44 I love that you used the Tarakava to describe the Bunyip punching. Just excellent.
