The fact that humans in this series can all at least partly see past Moxxie's disguise but can’t see past Millie's disguise at all is the funniest part of the episode for me. And I love that Millie finally gets more of a focus here.
They don’t really see through the “girl” part, just the “popular” part.
Millie wasn’t no tomboy. A tomboy is a girl who looks a bit masculine or smth like that. It’s mentioned in the episode that it’s moxxie’s “brother”
It's funny bc Moxxie is like the thespian so you'd think he'd be able to pull off the convincing act more and the true is so ironic
A detail I’ve always really liked in this episode is how despite worrying for and wanting to reconnect with his sister, at NO point does Blitzo try to actually APOLOGIZE for or otherwise take ownership of whatever it is he did that clearly fucked over Barbie’s life that she blames him for.
It makes for a really nice contrast with how Moxxie ends up handling his screwups with Millie this episode
I think that is what leads him to take a different approach in the next episode.
whats mor him just desprately trying to find barbie despite being told repeatedly she doesn't want to see him and he thinks she'll just come back if he finds her to the point of pushign out litrally everything else. It shows that while undertandable he's approaching this from a very selfish, thoughtless palce.

i’m looking back at this comment after the rest of the season, and i really wanna explore this idea. when i first saw this episode i had the same mentality: Blitz can want to see his sister, but he doesn’t seem apologetic and isn’t respecting her wishes. he’s just trying to forcefully repair the relationship. now i see how delicate this issue is.
it was an accident, and it took something so important from barb, but blitz was equally scarred (plus, he has to deal with the guilt of causing his mother’s death, and best friend’s mutilation…). it isn’t fair to shut him out for it, because it’s not something he ever could have meant to do. she’s forcing blame on him because she needs something to point her anger and grief at. i can understand blitz wanting so badly to mend the relationship and make her understand it wasn’t on purpose. it’s not okay to keep following her despite her wishes, but (not as justification, stalking’s not cool) he’s never been one for respecting boundaries, and he’s desperate to fix it.
i think it’s a strange juxtaposition to his relationship with stolas, because blitz is pushing away stolas’s care while barb is pushing away blitz’s. honestly, i think he can’t bring himself to apologize because he’s terrified of admitting to himself that the whole thing is his fault. it would feel like confirmation. they’re both still so hurt and reacting out of grief, and blitz’s reaction (trying to fix the relationship without addressing the issue) and barb’s reaction (shoving all the anger at him), are both driving massive wedges in their relationship that will take a lot of healing to chip away.
TLDR: I don’t think either of them are the bad guy, but while both have very understandable and valid perspectives, they’re both handling it very badly.
The next 2 episodes are the BEST ONES in the show SO FAR

I love that this episode showed that even healthy couples can fight and have their ups and downs, and even trough Moxxie and Millie were upset with each other, they are still able to talk. One of the best relationships in hell. But I do wish Millie would have gotten more spotlight early in s1.
As much as i love moxie i got so much second hand embarrassment in this episode that i had to turn it off in the middle like so many times

Moxxie was literally my favourite character but this episode really made me reconsider 😓
Moxxie has consistently throughout the show been portrayed as someone with very low self esteem and a low sense of self worth.
Like in the Harvest Moon Festival where he's absolutely desperate for Millie's, Families approval to the point of putting himself through the literal wringer to try and impress them.
We also have Blitz literally say that Moxxie is too obsessed with what other people think of him.
A lot of his relationship with Blitz is also him desperately seeking Blitz's approval.
And this probably has it's roots with Moxxie's home life, given what sort of father Crimson was and the probably insanely high standards he had for Moxxie (On top of all the abuse.) it makes sense.
This entire episode is basically smashing Moxxie's insecurities repeatedly.
I really felt like it was bad taste considering Moxxie literally gets rescued by Millie EVERYTIME, Even during his own episode he had to have Millie fight his own battle against his father. I feel like Moxxie feels utterly useless, Which is why he was so desperate to do things with HIS plan HIS way. To prove his worth and that he isn't some damsel in distress that needs help all the time. (It felt really really weird hearing Millie just ignore that because she was happy with the attention, I feel like they just ignored EVERYTHING that's happened to Moxxie in the earlier episodes)
@poggy2904 i honestly agree with you. Moxxie's desire from the start of the episode was to prove *himself* to blitz. This was made obvious. Yet in the end, he gets shamed by millie for feeling insecure and wanting to prove himself(granted, he shouldnt have gotten mad at her. But at the same time, she should know how much proving himself would mean to him, rather than going "you could have been done if you listened to me"), gets his kill stolen by millie(not even getting saved by millie like usual. This was straight up his kill being stolen by her, by accident) accidentally, and gets called a disgrace by the very person he wanted to prove himself to
@@xmant8842 I hear you, it's a rough moment for Moxxie. But I think there's an important lesson in there for him, too. So far, Moxxie's been propping up his low self-esteem by desperately seeking external validation from others (i.e. his wife and his boss). And while yes, support and encouragement from loved ones is very important, at a certain point, it becomes a crutch. And it's not always fair on those people, either. Millie can't be expected to always worry about his insecurities 24/7. She has emotional needs, too, and when only one partner pays attention to that, the relationship becomes very one-sided. Thankfully, Moxxie realized that and gave Millie the support she needed. And as for Blitz? Well, Mox already botched the job by wasting a week for no reason. He screwed up this time around, and let down the two people whose approval he craves. But maybe this can help him learn that true self-worth comes from within, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
@@xmant8842 to be fair...he kinda earns it. he lost sight of the actual objective and being smart JUST to prove himself and JUST to get attention from human children. Him letting his insecurities control him doesn't excuse the fact he was shitty to his wife AND was doing a shitty job overall and was too clouded by his ego and need for validation to SEE what a fuck up he was being.
@@sarafontanini7051 I honestly agree with pretty much all of what you said. He shouldnt have behaved the way he did. But at the same time, I can't blame him for how he acts. That's what growing up how moxxie did will do to you. And I honestly can't buy the episode acting like millie never feels important because we've seen multiple times that blitz and moxxie compliment her all the time whenever she does anything, moxxie's written multiple songs about how great he thinks she is, and she's always the one who "takes the Ws" at the end of the day.
I like how Moxxie and Millie actually had conflict with one another for this episode instead of being portrayed as the "perfect couple" It made it more interesting to me. And it was great to see them actually TALK through theor issues and LISTEN to each other. Also I loved seeing more personality and depth from Millie's character.
It shows that Moxxie made mistakes and he manage to set things right with Millie. However, Blitz on the other hand, he kept making things worst with people around him.

Idk, man... I agree with the sentiment, and it is nice to see how an actual healthy couple overcomes a conflict through humility and communication, but the conflict itself feels so forced. I really think that the writers had the idea for a conflict first, and just couldn't come up with a topic organically.
The symbol is the brand from the circus they worked for. Blitzo's parents, and Fizzarolli also have it.

I just realized how much watching Bojack would absolutely destroy Blitz emotionally. An asshole who keeps ruining his own life, but trying to be better… who’s also a horse? The poor imp couldn’t handle that.
i just realized, maybe that's why Vivzie made him to have an insane obsession with horses. Bojack is a literal horseman, and well- Blitz is very easily compared to him. I've never watched bojack horseman, but I've seen enough people compare the two.

Like many shows, it has the Season 1 curse (in that its critical acclaim may seem confusing, just going off the quality of the first few episodes), and it's definitely not for everybody, due to its darkly mature themes, but it is definitely a well-made series as a whole. It's got some pretty excellent dark humour, painfully relatable commentary on the self-destructive tendencies of people, and delightfully biting satire on Hollywoo.
21:40 and that, dear Weeby, is an Asmodean Crystal! It’s a coveted item that one of Stolas’ tomes mentioned in S2E1, and it was also the reason he was trying to text and schedule an audience with Asmodeus at the beginning of the previous episode. Presumably, the Asmodean Crystals are items that Ozzie would usually give to the Incubi/Succubi like Verosika so they could go to Earth and meet their quota. And to use it, you’ve gotta, uh…keester. It’s shaped for a specific reason, and yes, it does have to do with Asmodeus being the sin of lust. If you go frame by frame, the imp has an expression as he whips out the Crystal from there.
How this random Imp has one though…dunno.
we don’t know so far (currently at S2 E5) that asmodean crystals are why stolas is meeting with ozzie as it’s not directly said, although if you pay attention to the implications it’s pretty easy to figure out!
S2 E6 is when we confirm this!

Someone posted the pages about them with the faux runes translated to english, they're just usually incorporated into accessories like jewelry or well... keester cakers. We can see in the end of this episode when Barbie opens her own portal back to hell, hers is on a bracelet on her wrist.
“He works for me” both of them yiu can see how alike thwy are and their literal twins so showing their similarities was a smart writing choice

30:40. Kinda with Blitz on this one. It took Moxxie over a week to kill the target when it wouldn’t have even taken an hour if he didn’t decide to flex his ego.

Definitely not an ego flex considering all the other episodes, When has Moxxie ever gotten to do something without being a total damsel in distress that needs rescuing? I feel like he's honestly just feeling useless, And wants to prove his worth after being rescued again and again. Not to mention how he's literally the punching bag for ALL the other characters.. Makes it feel really weird ngl
Say what you will about this episode, at least Moxxie didn’t take it too far and actually have a good apology
Even at its worst it still surpasses Family Guy in its middle seasons

I get what you mean about seeing Millie supporting Moxie more often than he supports her but to be fair to Moxie, Millie hasn't had many instances shown so far where she needs it.
I mean tbf she didn't need it until he made it so she needed it this ep. She was doing fine.
I mean, everyone needs it, though. Just bc she hasn't explicitly asked doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. He could check in on his own sometimes, you know? Like she does.

You should catch up just in time for this months new episode, especially if you have time to react to the trailer/short that came out recently. Also Vivzie knew exactly what she was doing to everyone by starting this episode off with Blitz sneaking into a hospital.

Don't know why people didn't like this episode. I loved it. Going out in human disguises on a solo mission to off their target. Meeting Blitz's sister. Can't wait for you to see the trailer for the rest of season 2 when you finally catch up. That being said, I can't WAIT for you to react to the next two episodes!
Personally, the blitz and barbie stuff was good, but this has to be one of my least favorite episodes. Mainly because it acts as if moxxie hasnt supported millie before. He's always the first one to tell her how amazing this is. So i can't really buy the whole "this is the first time I've ever felt like i matter, and I'd hoped you'd be supportive of me" thing from millie. I honestly understand moxxie's insecurity more than i do millie's. To compare to another show, the show kind of treats moxxie like rick and morty treats morty. In the end, moxxie didnt prove himself, he got his kill stolen by millie, and he got called a disgrace by the very person he wanted to prove himself to.
Also, i agree the next 2 episodes are great
The main reason I didn’t like the episode at first was just the pure unbridled secondhand embarrassment I got from Moxxie trying _way_ too hard to be a popular girl. It was genuinely painful to watch. 😅
The rest of it was fine, especially the parts with Barbie, but the Moxxie cringe really overshadowed a lot of it for me, for a long time.
Now, after several rewatches, the secondhand embarrassment has faded, mostly, and I’m able to appreciate the episode a lot more. However, it’s still not anywhere near my favorite episode or anything. It’s not bad, just not my favorite. 🤷🏻
So for the forehead markings… in the pictures on Blitzø’s phone, both their mother and the young Fizzarolli also had the same mark on their foreheads too. And the poster of Blitzø and Barbie had her with the while lines all over as well (including the X on the forehead), so I think that might just be aesthetic scarification.
And I think Barbie puts all the blame on Blitzø for everything as a coping mechanism, so she doesn’t have to look as closely at her own behavior. Whatever caused her to turn to drugs (which she clearly blames Blitzø for), it was her maladaptive coping mechanism. So unless he had peer pressured her into the drugs or something like that, it would have really been largely (not necessarily entirely) her fault. And then she blames Blitzø for the death of her supplier, but in the fight he was trying to stop it the whole time. When he wasn’t pulling Barbie off of Moxxie, he was holding back Moxxie or pushing Jimmy away from Moxxie. And in the end it was a stray firework from Millie that killed him, which actually counts as a freak accident given that Millie wasn’t aiming it. So again, Blitzø only played a minor role AT MOST and yet Barbie is putting all the blame on him.
And Blitzø hates himself so much and has been told so often that he’s the problem that he accepts the blame fully, even when he shouldn’t. (I have FEELINGS about this. lol There’s enough bad shit he’s responsible for that he doesn’t need to go piling on things beyond his control! And yet he does.)
ETA: I’m not saying this to tear Barbie down. She’s got every right to be mad at Blitzø for tracking her down when she CLEARLY wanted to be no-contact with him. And to be upset at what happened in the past. But I also think that it’s not the one-sided thing she makes it out to be.
The episode where I think we reeeeally shouldn't have gotten a secondary plot.
Blitzø and his sister are the secondary plot.
I like the second plot of this episode better than the main. It's what saved the episode for me tbh.

Its less that Moxxie is insecure because he's being bullied, but more that he's being bullied because he's insecure.

I think H-8 is a play on "hate." Plausibly a way to introduce Wrath later. And Fizz has the symbol you mentioned too.
The theory from the season 1 finale is that Blitzo and Barbie’s mother died. Blitzo came to hate himself and fell in to depression, while most likely Barbie took to drugs to try to numb the pain. This is a theory at least
This episode has a biggest reference to Invader zim episode "Tak - Hideous New girl", where Barbie Wire is Tak, Moxxie is Zim, and Blitzo is Dib Membrane (well, Zim is also partially), Jimmy is a Tak's robot Sir named MiMi, and Millie is Gaz Membrane and Zim's robot GIR. In both episodes there are villainous female characters of the same race as the protagonist, Barbie Girl Imp, and Tak Irken alien, who at first look like Earth Girls, Tak disguised herself as a gothic schoolgirl, and Barbie as a Teenage Girl from the camp, and meet someone who did something to them in the past (Tak has Zim who caused her training to fail and failed to become an official invader, and Barbie Blitz, who unwittingly took their mother's life, burned down their family circus and made her insane and addicted to drugs) and they have a conflict based on something in common. Tak and Zim have Planet Earth, which they both wanted to conquer, and Barbie and Blitz and Moxxie have a counselor, whom the former used as her henchman and supplier of drugs for sale, and the latter wanted to kill him on order from a drowned Sinner. In the end, the supporting characters helped to solve the case, Millie with her fireworks smashed the counselor Jimmy to pieces, and Gaz, Dib's sister, and the GIR makes a Tak's SIR crazy and it flew into space. Well, Barbie reminded Blitz of his terrible mistake in the past and new grievances and went into the portal, and presumably in the future I hope to come back and try on with her brother, maybe in episode 9, which is called that "Apology Tour".

I will agree with most people in that this is the weakest episode in season 2 (and arguably the weakest episode overall) but it was still really nice to see Moxxie and Millie go through a very normal relationship bump. It makes total sense from both of their perspectives too - Millie grew up with a ton of siblings and kind of had to clamour for attention. She's kind of always in the background or part of a group, and I think it's sweet how much she enjoyed her moment without letting it go to her head. Meanwhile poor Moxxie is a long list of issues with attention and feeling competent, I mean we just saw how he was brought up. It's great in a heartbreaking kind of way to finally see Barbie, too. But overall this is like the appetizer for what I think are the two BEST episodes so far!
Next episode we get to see a flashback which I'm pretty sure tells us what happened between Blitz and Barbie. it's sortof subtle, and there might be more to it than that though, but it's probably most of it.
I love your videos! and thanks for cheering for Moxxie and feeling his pain, I couldn't help but cringe at him during so much of this episode, but your perspective still rooting for him helped me enjoy it better
Fun fact: noticed Blizo’s collar is the same exact one his mom used to wear when she was alive. When you go back to season one episode seven at the end you can see a picture of his mom if you look at her neck you can see the same choker that Blizo wears to this day. Also when Barb said you ruined my life enough she’s talking about his mother. You will find that out in the next episode. Last thing is when Barbie pushes on his school collar necklace and says “I never want to see you EVER” she says that because of what he did to his mom and she wants him gone away forever like his mom is right now. Who wants to make the better with his last family member and blizo cares a lot about his sister. But right off the fire she pretended like he disappeared and was never in hell gone forever. His mom is the only one that ever loved blizo.😢

I love these episodes, despite whatever flaws people can point out I like getting to see more of Moxie and Mellie work together and even struggle. Love your reactions as always and love seeing Moxie serve he's so into his disguise I find it quite entertaining ❤

you should definitely go have a look at the book translation from runes about asmodean crystals, the same book stolas threw in season 2 episode 1!
it tells you a lot about how hellborn species can legally travel to earth for work (unlike i.m.p where blitz and the m&ms travel to earth not so legally via stolas’ grimoire. although technically does hell even have laws?) and how some who don’t have human disguises can obtain them (like barbie in this episode)

Most do the time when it comes with siblings conflict it’s mostly gradual. I’m pretty sure barb was gradually being used or hurt by blitz until something happened that was the last point for the mountain to fall.
I had a permanent sibling fall out and we were acting the way barb was like with blitz, so I can just tell. Plus we can tell that blitz wants to help barb in a way to help himself but I don’t think you can fix anyone. Even siblings. So it’s probably going to have to be more than a forgive and forget type of thing. Blitz is going to really need to get his shit together for his sister to even give a shit about him.
The next to episodes are fantastic
Yaaay! Finally someone who understands this episode! 🥲 Lots of people are really weird about this episode and say it destroys Moxxie's character but it is 100% in-line with what we see of his personality, as you said. And in the end he makes up for it. Also, even as someone who gets TERRIBLE second-hand embarrassment, Moxxie's act is so over-the-top that it doesn't bother me. 😂 It's super interesting to see some more about Blitz's sister, too!

I'll be honest, there's nothing Blitzo can do to mend the rift, if you catch my drift. When someone is so sick of a person, they want nothing to do with them.
See, the thing about Blitzo is that he's self-destructive. Like, in every sense of the phrase. Blitzo's so self-destructive that it's easy to miss since it comes so naturally to him.

Have you watched the trailer for the second half of season 2?? It's okay if you haven't since you haven't caught up fully, but it's sooo good!! I've been watching little else since it came out and I'd love to see your reaction to it at some point. It's pretty short tho (2,5 minutes or so) so maybe that doesn't work for your channel... I just found your channel bc of Hazbin and I've really enjoyed all your reactions so far. I love your attention to detail and how you theorize on the world as well instead of only reacting to what's happening on screen.
You see the symbol on all the circus folk, even Fizzaroli has the symbol but looks like he hides it under his jester hat. It’s either the circus name or a brand on these imps since it doesn’t look like it can be removed. I was told it was the symbol of lust on them but idk for sure if lust has anything to do with it. Also I’m not sure if Blitzø and Barbie’s mom is an imp but maybe a succubus since she’s got different horns. I had also thought if the symbol was really a lust symbol that maybe it’s imp or demon trafficking.
H8 might represent hate which would make sense that hate is probably the huge influenced feeling in Hell.
