Yeah they look like these spilt Citroën headlights. Pre-facelift look so much better. Edit. I think the facelift looks sleeker and sharper. I never liked those ‘angel eyes’ on bmw’s. They’re kinda childish to me. Happy they’re gone. Interior got a huge improvement.

I agree, I feel like there’s a disconnect with the iconic drl, point of a split headlight style is to make the drl stand out.. it could’ve worked better and the intake at bottom is weird

It's good that the front has started to look like the Citroën C4 Cactus - more people will start buying products from the competition. And this interior ambient light - it looks cheesy like gaming computers, more led lighting means more FPS.

I agree. I love my 2021 M50i…it is beautiful. I do prefer the interior of the new one, but, the exterior is bad, aside from the cool grill and rear lighting effects.

In a lot of cases, they kinda miss the point of a specific car's target audience or something. For example, the LX600 is meant for those who want a vehicle that LASTS FOREVER. That's why it maybe doesn't have as much tech as Range Rover, X7 but its close and it's already good for most people. The REAL point for the LX is reliability and longevity. Haters always gonna hate whether they understand the weaknesses or not.

@@TurboChargedChristmas The LX holds its value way more so than X7 and GLS. Oh and it'll have far fewer issues. X7 and GLS, 10 years old, you're constantly into problems like tech, transmission and powertrain. This is something the LX doesn't suffer. You don't have to worry about tech stuff, transmission and powertrain breaking. They are intended to last 25 YEARS instead of just 10 years or less with the Germans. Also, when you try to sell the LX compared to selling an X7 or GLS, you'll retain $50,000. The Germans, just $5,000.
@@TurboChargedChristmas Those who buy an "overpriced" Toyota are those who want luxury but also want EXTREMELY RELIABLE and CAPABLE cars that are designed to last 25 years or more. An X7 only lasts 10 years so you end up spending nearly $300,000 in 25 years including repairs, the amount of cars bought/leased. In the LX, you'll keep the vehicle for 25 YEARS without any issues.
I can't afford one of these, thank god.

As a Bmw fan i have to say we came to an era where Bmw wants to look like Hyundai/Nissan...I have no clue what is going on with designers, but x7 needed new steering wheel and new look at the back...both look outdatet...but they changed the front instead and i don't even know if it looks better or not

No PHEV? I owned a 2019 X7 50i and the small tank drove me nuts. Every time I got in, I needed fuel. Traded for a X5 45e. Love the 30 miles of electric. We need a X7 50e in the states with 50 miles of electric and that 380hp straight 6. Also 23” wheels are getting silly. Another example of “seemed like a good idea when I drove it home” only to find out you’ll be lucky to get 15000 miles out of a set until you need to spring for another $2500+ for tires. The rest of the update is beautiful. Love that color and I bet in person it is stunning!

It’s actually amazing. You should see it in action. They also have the best surround cameras.
I also hate the plain, square screens. It looks like a home game setup. It doesn't look as fancy as the car claims to be. It is entirely possible to do a better job with screens. It's sad to know that BMW will be using this on virtually all of their models going forward.

@@Kenyon712 It might look futuristic, but it still continues to clash with the rest of the interior, reminding me of my home monitor which is also curved. To cite one example, Cadillac has done a much more organized job on its new Escalade. Being an expensive and luxurious BMW I expected more.

I have leatherette in my 2007 BMW 335i and it still looks almost new. Really happy I went with that option.

those German vinyl cow hides lasts forever. My 2004 MB seats still look like new. Leather seems to only look good for about 5 years then cracks and then looks awful for the long term
I had leatherette in my E46, and the day I sold it the seats still looked brand new. You can't say that about any car with "animal skin"

Wow, I'm glad the new X7 is now equipped with standard Android Auto, which it didn't have before the facelift. Many will gloat over the front design though, especially the headlights.

I come here to get your take first. It looks incredible, the only thing I don't like is the touch controls for the HVAC, I wish those were still physical buttons. But apart from that, it looks great!
If you have direct contact with BMW can you suggest them to enable watching video when car is parked? This comes handy especially in EV cars when you'r charging and have to wait for some time and is raining outside. Why not watch video and make waiting less boring. I know there are phones but why not use great screens available in the car.
Not sure how can BMW go even more downhill with their designs but somehow they managed to do that. Congrats to the design team! Not that these SUVs are appealing to the eyes anyway.

I didn't think the time would come when BMW would start copying the design ideas from Hyundai Santa Fe
Reminds me of the Genesis quad light design, as well as the divorced headlights on the latest Nissan crossovers.
Definitely not as elegant as the Genesis headlights, but a lot like the Pathfinder.

The interiors are very clean and stylish now,finally a bmw which has beaten its rivals in interiors design(it always had better touch and feel)
It's interesting and new fascia works/gels ok with the SUV.. still have to see how this new look would turn out with BMW i7 EV Series luxury sedan.
Dash/cabin is alright.
Nice job and review. The interior is indeed fantastic. We're going to be in the market for one late this year and intend to pick it up at the factory tour in Spartanburg, SC. The captain chairs are nice but I believe you give up too much space. The ambient lighting is nice, maybe a little lighter might be more elegant, the roof lighting is stunning. We're looking forward to test driving one soon to make up our minds. Once again, nice review, Cheers!

How much horsepower is in the M60i version ?
I personally love the leds on the top of the headlights. The bottom ones are what makes it a dealbreaker for me.

And about the car, I think that the rear has still some work to be done on it... BMW will get it right at some point, I'm sure, but they are not there yet. As for the rest, this beast wuld look much better with the M package and no captain chairs (for more functionality in terms of loading capabilities).

Google the designers at BMW now. Hyundai has been poaching designers ans R&D Bosses from BMW for several years now.
Very professional and thorough review. I read that the vehicle height is 71.1 inches, so almost 6 feet. Thomas, you mention that you are 6'1" tall, however, you look much taller than the car when standing next to it.

Bmw did that it was a good evolution. THe pre facelift is base off of the G11/G12 (7 series) and now the facelift is still based off the g11/g12 but with a g70 (7 series) like evolution i love it
When you say based off of, in what aspect? Design? The chassis is completely its own, X3-X7 don't share car based platforms.
I already know that they don’t Share the same chassis I am also a bmw fan the x3-X7 only shares the B58 (inline 6) and the B57 (inline 6 diesel) and I was talking abt design.The pre lci looks so much like the g11 so the lci it’s a evolution because now it looks like the g70

Been happening for a while. Honda copied Hyunda with the 2013-2018 Accord looking like the prior Genesis. An absolute shame
@@chrisginoc The 2013 Honda Accord was just an updated version of the 1998 model. You can also see the same tail light design in the 1988-1991 model, where the blinker and reverse light, cover the top half of the lights.

I just don't get why they redesigned the front while the previous one looked cool enough and very bmw-ish, now it's just weird but that bulky rectangle screen just seems really incongruous to the context, ruining the overall picture...
I don’t know if I can move forward with BMW. As a lifelong BMW fanboy there are still BMW models that I still plan to own but from this point going forward with this new design from BMW I doubt there is an upcoming model I would want to own from BMW. The upcoming BMW M3 touring, the upcoming M2, and the facelifted 3 series will probably be last BMW cars I will consider purchasing when it comes to the latest and newest models. Other than that I will buy older BMW models that I have always loved. But going forward this is the end of my relationship with my beloved BMW.

Hi Thomas love and greetings from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 I don't know about others but I really liked it pre face lift wasn't that bad either but something was missing although I couldn't tell what was that but now with the split head lamps it looks awesome even grill doesn't look bad either it doesn't look that boxy like it used to be bmw nailed it with just minor tweaks here and there

Hello Thomas! I feel like BMW is confused and tries to keep up with the competition from the tech point of view but it’s losing identity: no more angel eyes and changing the dashboard live cockpit gauges not even after 4 years. Sure car screams quality on the interior but the front facelift screams CHINA.
so whats your solution/advice for BMW?

@@patrickck8185 number one is too focus for driving enthusiasts, market shouldn't be for some rich douche who follow the kitsch ways of doing something or some Chinese mother who weighs less than a wheel drive a bastardized car. Second which might even be more important is simplicity; and thats on everything. They need to go back to simple engines (they won't and too far gone in tech) and need to do simple but good looking designs and clean looking interiors, i like how they have a nice selection of interior colors to chose though. They have gone completley ugly looking since 2020 and every car since then, apart from maybe the 5 series which still looks really good looks really fugly. This is what i think but couldn't care less as i don't plan on buying a brand new car any time soon and enjoy my old 7 series

The split design actually works here. I like it. It works because they've darkened out the lower lights which cheaper cars with split lights don't do. Although Hyundai does do it well on some of their models although I think Citroën did it best with the C4 Picasso.
No doubt though that interior material and build quality will be the best since bmw is doing the best lately. It makes the GLS feel like a Hyundai i10 on the inside. Mercedes interior material and build quality is far below BMW's now which wasn't the case a few year back.
The split headlights on genesis look 10X better so there is no reason to darken and hide them like this...
i also like how they look in c5 aircross. since they leaved a smaller gap between the lights it looks lot better than far apart ones
I think at this point BMW exterior design team has no idea what an attractive design looks like. Everything they touch, they ruin. Much uglier than the outgoing X7, but that appears to be the goal of BMW now. Make ugly vehicles, check. The piano black plastic key fob just adds insult to injury from BMW.
Maybe the exterior is a controversial point in case of bmws , however cant complain the interiors its just fabulous and best in segment
