After its introduction 5 years ago, BMW has decided to give the big brother X7 a facelift and it’s a pretty substantial one.
The standard xDrive40i is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 375 horsepower. That’s a boost of 40 horses over the old version.
The hybrid M60i model puts out a healthy 523-hp from its twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 and there will also be a performance Alpina XB7 that will have 630 horsepower and do 0-60mph in under 4 seconds.
In addition to the exterior, the interior gets a huge overhaul as well with a massive curved screen housing a 12.3-inch gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch display for the infotainment, all behind a single piece of curved glass.
The 2023 BMW X7 will go on sale in the U.S. at the end of the year starting at $79k for the xDrive 40i and $104k for the M60i. The Alpina XB7 comes out a little later with an expected price around $145,000.

    Personally, I don't mind it.
I find the front even more interesting and balanced compared to the pre-restyling, which headlights were a bit too thin for imho.
And I don't totally agree with the thing you mentioned about the "narrow bottom"; I think that the "brackets" underneath the headlights (that you deleted) are tall enough to visually widen the front view.
But I like your take on it: it looked already good to me, but now it's even better!

I actually own a Santa Fe, and I have to say I honestly don’t like the split design here. I think it suits Hyundai’s design philosophy. BMW not so much. It just doesn’t really fit the face of the car. It’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, but it’s still not great. For a BMW, it shouldn’t look just “ok”.

Not just Hyundai. Jeep did it first on the Cherokee and they had promptly do a facelift and give it regular lights due to the criticism. Hyundai then came out with split headlights, Chevy is now doing split headlights and now BMW is doing it. It’s one of the UGLIEST design graphics I’ve ever seen on any car…second to that floating C/D pillar trend.

  • @1AdamMan1
    @1AdamMan1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

It looks pretty good from a direct front view. But in all other views, the split headlight design looks a bit unnecessary with conflicting line flow between the top and bottom ones, especially the outer edges. It may look better if the outer edge of bottom headlight is more slanted while the outer edge of the top headlight be less slanted, so that the top and bottom mirror each other better.

I'm watching these 2023 X7 videos only because I'm planning to order the newly refreshed X5 and it is going to have the same dash panel screen... I'm not sold on it yet. It looks as if the design is going thru its awkward teen years by just stacking the screen behind the steering wheel. I am hoping and sure it looks better in person. We are used to "normal" dash panels so this looks odd right now....Personally I love the new front end...I wish they were doing this to the X5 for 2023.... Pretty huge price increases over the 2022...

Remove all US required side markers (front & back), clean up the front ( remove fake air vents) and get rid of the big Audi 4 ring logo, remove the rear lower bumper lights, remove rear wiper. Lower the roof line, that will make all the windows lower and the look will be more aggressive. Black-out all chrome. Reduce tire/fender well space. You have the skill!

I have post this comments also on other channels.
Overall , the headlights and front look, no longer define the character of a BMW, which is disappointing. The headlight integration is a copy of other car manufacturers.
The design of the new BMW models including iX, the lines, the design of the front, the interior, the speedo & tacho, etc. no longer characterizes the foundation of BMW.
In my opinion, BMW's design engineers will drive current BMW car owners to another directly competing manufacturer if they continue with such styles.
Just wait,...it was like what happened to the Mercedes car manufacturer, when 1-2 generations ago, they made major changes in design because the car lines did not keep up with customer requirements.

So glad to see I'm not the only person upset by this new display. Lazy is the best description. It looks like one of their engineers walked into a computer store, purchased a random wide screen monitor, and just sat it on top of the dashboard. Is it attached by glue? Tape? There is no attempt to integrate it into the design of the dashboard. It looks like it belongs on an office desk and is not a part of the car. I am so disappointed. I was planning to purchase the 2023 3 series facelift, but I believe I will pass and go with an Audi solely because this lazy new screen design makes me cringe.

Totally agree. It's funny how people call modern BMWs "ugly" until they see one in person and they are easily stunned by their unconventional and futuristic designs. Pleasing the crowd was never BMW's agenda and that's why I love their cars of this time

Agree totally! BMW tried to fix something that was not broken in order to align this model with the 7 series (also badly executed) I own a 2022 X7 and an 2019 8 series Convertible, having also had 7 series but unless BMW reverts to conservative and understated, they will lose me and others. Bizarre that a brand like BMW would take their design inspiration for split lights from Hyundai!!!! WOW! Who saw that coming??? Not me.

this trend to offset the headlights into the bumper is even worst than the lightbar at the rear. WTF

The new 2023 design, specs, and tech upgrades, and engine in the the x7 m60i for 2023, finally made me flip from MB. Sold my loaded 2020GLS580. Love the big screen like Mercedes’ and all luxury and electric is moving to, and I hated the old x7 shifter that looked like a dildo. But then again I was used to Mercedes shifter that was like a wiper switch on the side. Lol 😂

The split lights have not been adequately integrated into the front end of this
vehicle. It looks like an afterthought. it doesn't align with the THEME of BMW.

You know to be honest I like the XM design better than this one I just not a fan of that double light kinda Nissan Pathfinder design I think bmw while everyone else is doing all these crazy headlights they should modernize their iconic round headlight that’s what I love about my 1991 bmw 735il the design is distinct to bmw while Mercedes and Audi and alot of other car manufacturers had had square and rectangle light bmw had the iconic round I’m excluding Jaguar because they also had round headlights too

So this is how 'angel eyes' die, one recognizable thing just gone, I was thinking, you can also level the visual weight in front, just by changing the grill found in the new 2 Series, wider and going almost in line with the headlights instead of just that pig nose, leaving the redesigned lower end but slimming it down a little. In the interior, agreed, its just lazy to put a screen, also, a curved one, taking away the passenger output IN AN SUV, I don't mind it in a sports car but in this, nah.

As a Bmw fan i have to say we came to an era where Bmw wants to look like Hyundai/Nissan...I have no clue what is going on with designers, but x7 needed new steering wheel and new look at the back...both look outdatet...but they changed the front instead and i don't even know if it looks better or not

For me, I would much rather to stick with the last gen.
i can agree that the redesign in the back looks great but the front design looks as bad as it gets, I would say BMW decided to go with more detailed car rather than a minimalistic one, they decided to add some bits and pieces to give it some more details. i think keeping it more minimalistic and more basic gives it a better look.
The headlights are just too thin which i think takes a lot of the character of the last gen BMW
The front bumper is a bit too much even for the standard car, it looks more like a Mansory car rather than a stock BMW
