+Andy Actually, Itsuno (the director of DMC2, 3 and 4) only took over as director of DMC2 late in development after the original director quit. He's an extremely talented developer, having worked on the Street Fighter Alpha series and CvS1, co-directed Rival Schools and Power Stone, and directed Star Gladiator, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, CvS2, One Piece Mansion and Auto Modellista before he started working on DMC2. So it's probably safe to say he is not to blame for DMC2 being as bad as it was.
Just finished the first game. Had a lot of fun with it. Then realised I got pretty much all c and d ranks.. that hurt, but didn’t make me sad. It just encourages me to get better at the game which is something rare, when I finish a game I’m mostly content but I think I’ll keep at this one. Maybe some day I’ll be consistent enough to get a s rank on a mission lol.
That sort of thing actually isn't uncommon at all, especially in the past. The West got the harder versions of BattleToads, Rocket Knight Adventures, Castlevania III, Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom, Contra Hard Corps, Dynamite Headdy, Streets of Rage 3, Resident Evil, and Donkey Kong Country. Also, Devil May Cry 3 isn't the only game in the series with regional difficulty differences. The original Devil May Cry in the West has you dealing only 80% damage and taking an additional 20% damage from enemies on all modes. These differences are not present in the HD Collection. Might also be worth noting that the original's somewhat stupid control scheme was only present in the west iirc.
DMC1 gets a lot better when you start digging into the scoring system and higher difficulty levels, which completely retool the game. Guns and your devil trigger become vital parts of your arsenal and learning how to keep that combo going by carefully controlling your and every enemy's placement feels amazing.
...and the reboot came...seriously capcom you had so many possiblities like I dont know!: -explain and develop NERO and his connection with Vergil -combine the awesome combat and moveset from dmc 3 -the style system in dmc4 + eventually improving the gamplay of nero -the awesome graphism and soundtrack and not this...thing in DmC -the dark atmosphere from dmc1 -or a prequel talking about sparda -and eventually allowing lady to join into the fight (with a comback of trish as a playable character... BUT NO lets act like TWATS and give the franchise to a C rank company with barely 2 game Under their belt...not even to mention how the story of those games wasnt completly written by themselves and they had to ask the help of some other people..
Well I cannot blame him for thinking that even tough I understand what you mean Virgil, I mean after having a dev saying so just "like that" in a game that barely talks about the character origins and a book insinuating things rather than say it, no wonder people don't know what to thing anymore... So here is my speculation on what could have happen: 1) it's actually true and they planned it but screw up with the timeline ,just like they did with resident evil ( Wesker obtained his powers around the year 1999 if I am not mistaken so its impossible for Jake to have more than 14 years old since resident evil 6 took place in 2013...*unless he was born way before and got injected something by wesker)... 2) They didn't planed what they were doing and were flipfloping on the issue, that could be true considering that slash crapcom did on the budget and the time require for the development... 3) its not true but they wanted the raise contreversie and debate regarding that subject....
Mr Josef I have had my share of speculations as to Nero's connection with Vergil. I heard they're developing a DMC 5 which goes back to the original storyline and not the shit reboot DmC. Maybe we can hope for some explanation there as well as some character building in Nero's part/
Strange, because the game doesn't really feel... "unfinished". It feels like the backtracking was decided on pretty early on during development. We get all the new cutscenes n shit after all and those can't be made during one weekend. For what it's worth it's the most polished unfinished game of all time. :P
Am i the only one who *liked* the backtracking from DMC 4? Aside for the lvl 19 ofc. Fighting the same bosses as Dante felt vastly different than doing that as Nero and gave us the opportunity to approach the bosses with both characters. In fact i was a bit dissapointed when i realized that the only way to fight Credo as Dante was to go through ~80lvl of Blood Palace.
Can't say I enjoyed the backtracking, mainly cause I didn't enjoy going through the levels the first time as Nero. Now, the combat is fantastic, needless to say, it's just that I felt like I was running through endless hallways most of the time before I could get to fight enemies.I don't mind the long walks every once in a while, but in 4 I felt they overdid it.
***** Emmm, i didn't? You can actually check who gives thumb-ups under the comments mate. Sure, you propably need to finish pre-school education first but you'll get there eventually.
I don't feel the video made DMC3 justice - the environment was one of the best in the series, you can coop a boss, the addition of vergil and blood palace ..
rmhanzel Dmc2 was fucking terrible. I actually gave the piece of shit a chance before judging it like other people and no matter how hard I tried to like it....it just fucking sucked. They had a few good elements integrated for sure but they took the cheap and lazy route to make a quick buck. Its funny because it looks like it'd be the first game release in the entire franchise from its shittier graphics and movement system. Don't even get me started on the awful combat, somehow it was worse than dmc1 in that area. I couldn't even finish the thing that's how stupid it was to me. I did like the DT customization that was definitely nice and the Majin form was pretty cool too actually. This game is just you shooting shitty enemies the entire game. I honestly wish they could go back and revamp everything and change some of the story along with the awful system to make it a worthy successor to 1 but it'll never happen and I'd rather see 5 anyway
I haven't played any DMC Games, but with 5 coming out, I might play them if I can get my hands on them. So from this video, here's impressions I'm getting from each : DMC 1: Dated, but still holds up fairly well DMC 2: Probably should skip it.... DMC 3: Seems like the best. DMC 4: Seems worth a shot. Are there any disagreements or suggestions?
So glad you acknowledged that the platforming in 1 is utter, utter, UTTER crap. I just hate it so much. 3 is AWESOME, naturally. I lost interest in 1 half way, lost interest in 2 almost instantly but 3 kept it and continues to even after I've beaten the damn thing. Great review!
GamingBrit, this is some of your best work ive seen yet, you have just basically recited to me why I love this series and why I personally think it is the best set of action games ever. Thanks gamingbrit, you made my morning!
I like to show these video to friends just to e them understand how the process of entering DMC is so goddamn good. And then the wait becomes unbearable
The only thing I can think of that could've made DMC3's opening cutscene better is if, at the end, Dante said something along the lines of "Sorry about earlier."
+D MAS Dante can't know how good a game he is in, anyway. So it doesn't matter... However still it would've confused many people, including me - and could easily be taken out of context - something more thought-out, like a hint of DMC2 and then the line would have done the trick. Again, it would be rather unethical to have a pejorative innuendo towards the development team...
Ok, looking back at all this, and how I've seen people declare that DMC3 was essentially an "apology" for DMC2, it's interesting to note that the very first thing out of Dante's mouth is simply the word "Sorry". I wonder if that was intentional.
I appreciate that the developers were at least trying to bring something new to the combat with Nero, but as a character, I can't say there's anything wrong with him, but that's about all I can say, he's just "meh", nothing to make him unlikable or annoying, but no personality traits to make him memorable.
The thing is, DMC4 is not bad it's actually pretty good, but feels it's lackin, we have this great gameplay mechanics but not much time and stages to use it; you can see how this game was probably really rushed in gameplay (Nero have little combo variety), in types of enemies, in the plot (they don't even say a fucking word about how Nero got his devil arm), and also in levels, I mean fuck, Dante doesn't even have levels of his own it's pretty much all Nero's levels backwards, I'm 100% someone upstairs made they just rush the fuck out of the game
What I think would have worked best with regards levels and using characters is that the game should have let the player use both Dante and Nero from the start like with X and Zero in X4 and 5, let them pick and choose who they want make the transition easier people not used to the traditional gameplay Dante brings.
I hate Nero personally, but I loved how he was this angsty kid whining about his girlfriend for half the game and then suddenly Uncle Dante completely hijacked the plot with his silliness.
The thing with the recurring bosses in DMC1 was that a) you always fought them in a different "arena" b) they always used at least one new trick or attack
I've seen your DMC reviews countless times and always watching them when I have nothing else to watch. Damn I like them so much I would even enjoy remakes of the reviews because it's so well made, telling the truth about my most fav game and give me all the nostalgic feelings. Keep going with the awesome reviews!
That's actually kind of sweet. Honestly Devil May Cry, like the original game it amazes me how well it's aged and I think that's thanks to just how damn well the combat flows (and the awesome level design in the castle). Same goes for Devil May Cry 3, it's a non stop rollercoaster.
I laughed so hard during your review of 3...you know, every time you kept dying. XD That's me currently, on Hard Mode. And I agree; 2 is pretty terrible. But, that's because they had to do a rush job, and didn't have the financing (not to mention they switched from Hideki Kamiya to Hideaki Itsuno without giving him any time to get acquainted with the story, and such). He did well with 3 and 4, at least. ^^; 4 is my favourite (it's pretty damn close between it and 3). I do understand everyone's agitation at having to go through all the same levels with Dante that we do with Nero. Despite that, I still love it. However, I won't touch the reboot with a fifty-foot pole, never mind a ten-foot one. :/ I loved your review of that one, as well. I cracked up so hard.
What I loved about devil may cry is your progress as a player and if dmc 1 is your first dmc you get a more streamlined progression of your skills along with the game and future ones. Facing the spider boss the first time and dying over and over and then going and buying streak and just barely winning.. then coming back for another playthru after playing all the games and then annihilating that same spider boss that gave you problems before is now a cakewalk and it's all because you as a player improved your skills the game didn't level you up or increase your strength for you and that's s rare feeling in video games
At least DMC2 introduced bloody palace mode and level select so that I dont have to worry about having to read a stupid collectibles guide and I can just focus on the game.
I miss the Dante of DMC1, Itsuno deserves praise for putting the series “back on track” after 2 but I’ve been playing them all for the first time and the jump from 1 Dante to 3 Dante is absurd. I thought it was because he was young but it didn’t change after that. The presentation is also much different in what I’d call a lateral movement. Not what I was expecting after the amazing time I had in 1
Thank God I played Dante's Awakening as a kid when I had peak reflexes. As an adult I wouldn't have the skill or patience to constantly play the entire level over after dying to a boss at the end. Glad they fixed that in the SE. Greatest action series of all time.
To be fair 4 isn't bad they just got alot of e money to make it cut at something like half way through the development of the game. Thanks Capcom for screwing your fans any way you can.
Dmc1 will always be special because it holds something no othe dmc game does. And Thats resident evil atmosphere wich is one of the best if not the best atmosphere there is in a gaming franchise.
The most annoying thing for me in dmc1 is Shadow and nightmare 3. The shadow are the most annoying enemies in the game. They have mostly undodge able attacks in the game. They show up early in the game and create a difficulty spike with their spear attacks. They're mostly unbeatable when their in a group.
So you didn't do the secret missions? Two of them had you fighting multiple shadows- I also approached a despondent catatonic state trying to kill them. It was an absolute shit. Nightmare was just that- a nightmare. Ugh. I wish the environments had been more interactive: some doors part of the scenery could be accessed. Loved 1, it was ace and wish they had done more with 4 and 2 well, we do not speak of it.
DUDE, I've been saying this for a while now! I'm glad someone agrees with me, and weirdly enough they COULD do it now! I don't know if people have been watching the Capcom news but they're in serious financial trouble, and might have to sell some IPs. So yeah I know what you mean, someone should make like, a petition or a letter to them maybe I dunno.. Either way someone needs to take Capcom's good IPs away from them seeing as they have no idea how to treat them.
EntityDJI Jonah Drake Eh...I think Nintendo should just buy Platinum Games,Sega, and Capcom, then they can give DMC to Platinum Games, and have Capcom focus on Monster Hunter and Street Fighter.
True and since DMC 2, all the games included the options to play as different characters even if you have to unlock them. DMC 3 allowed us to play as Vergil and enjoy the use of his overpowered move set. DMC 4 gave us Nero though he was kind of worse then Dante, but still fun nonetheless.
Dmc 4 made sense as far as dante fighting the same bosses. Nero wasn't powerful enough to destroy the demons, he was only able to best them and progress past them while dante was powerful enough to destroy them and close the hell gates.
The Style system in DMC4 is pretty cool, but what if he had more styles than just four? And you could customize which four styles you used out of the styles you get, that would be pretty cool and would allow for people to play the game and go through it in their own unique way.
DantesLink yeah well they said that the original dante will comeback in one way or another wich is pretty ambiguous if you ask...I just hope this is a dmc5 (the real thing)
DantesLink I hope too... CAPCOM PLEASE STOP SCREWING AROUND FOR ONCE PLEASE...I promise you that if you release the dmc5 trailer... people will scream ALL HAIL CAPCOM...
I always love looking back on this video since it (alongside BSCs playthrough of DMC1) got me into the series. I don’t remember what the deal was but all I remember was “oh hey the guy who made those Metroid videos made this, I should watch this to be sure.”
The only good thing that came out of dmc2 was the limited run diesel jacket I bought. Its so frikking awesome and unique. I feel like dante in it......the dmc2 dante 😩
I enjoy the fact that when you praise something, it actually holds a lot weight from bashing other things so much. Very entertaining video, wonder how the eventual DmC review will go.
the devil may cry series seems to excel heavily in a certain thing in each game DMC1 has one of the best atmospheres in any game i've seen, DMC2 is simply put one the most infamous ways on how not to make a sequal 3 has some of the best gameplay in any game, and is one of the hardest games ever 4 has some of the best graphics ever and dont seem to age at all
I personally like the backstory and feel another game could fill the gap. 1 is challenging and freaking awesome, 2 is dog shit, 3 has style, 4 is worth it even though dante is only a playable character part way through the game. Capcom, PLEASE, do devil may cry 5!!!! (sidenote, yes I know there's rumours about this happening)
I'm really glad for this retrospective. There is so much hate for the new DMC game among series fans who "miss the old Dante," but in reality, Dante's character has changed with every iteration of the series, and the narrative effectively backed itself into a corner. If you look at DMCs 1-4 objectively, you see that they're deeply flawed and inconsistent, and in need of a fresh start (except maybe DMC 3; that one was pretty strong on its own).
It’s weird coming back to this video now that he’s the biggest DMC fan in the world

Akatsubasa I think so but I'm from the old school so graphics don't mean a lot to me
***** Actually I meant the overall experience but looks like it's fine. I'll probably buy it ;)
The subtle witty humor is just fantastic.
+Jim DarkMagic 14:33 "Well, I'm sure nothing will go wrong today, then." (-Dante- Mysterious Assassin shoots pope)
XD
"subtle"
"witty"
What's really nuts is that the director of DMC2 and 3 is the same guy.
He must've REALLY done his homework inbetween games.
+Potidaon Also Kamiya was glad Itsuno became director of the game, he hoped he could save the game from being complete crap.
how is such a thing even possible?
I didn't like 3 that much but I dislike 2. How one can even like 2, I do not know...
There wasn't a dmc2. The hell are you on about?
Just finished the first game. Had a lot of fun with it. Then realised I got pretty much all c and d ranks.. that hurt, but didn’t make me sad. It just encourages me to get better at the game which is something rare, when I finish a game I’m mostly content but I think I’ll keep at this one. Maybe some day I’ll be consistent enough to get a s rank on a mission lol.
Japan hard = Western Normal????!?!?!? They pulled a reverse Megaman 2. Well done Capcom. Well done
More like they pulled a Rocket Knight Adventures.
I think of it as pulling a Resident Evil. The US Normal mode is usually Japan's Hard (or "Advanced") mode.
MM2 while a good example gives you the option between Normal (actually a new Easy mode) and Difficult (Japan's difficulty).
Guns and your devil trigger become vital parts of your arsenal and learning how to keep that combo going by carefully controlling your and every enemy's placement feels amazing.
...and the reboot came...seriously capcom you had so many possiblities like I dont know!:
-explain and develop NERO and his connection with Vergil
-combine the awesome combat and moveset from dmc 3
-the style system in dmc4 + eventually improving the gamplay of nero
-the awesome graphism and soundtrack and not this...thing in DmC
-the dark atmosphere from dmc1
-or a prequel talking about sparda
-and eventually allowing lady to join into the fight (with a comback of trish as a playable character...
So here is my speculation on what could have happen:
1) it's actually true and they planned it but screw up with the timeline ,just like they did with resident evil ( Wesker obtained his powers around the year 1999 if I am not mistaken so its impossible for Jake to have more than 14 years old since resident evil 6 took place in 2013...*unless he was born way before and got injected something by wesker)...
2) They didn't planed what they were doing and were flipfloping on the issue, that could be true considering that slash crapcom did on the budget and the time require for the development...
3) its not true but they wanted the raise contreversie and debate regarding that subject....
Sorry if my English is bad XD
Yeah thats true :)
Mr Josef I have had my share of speculations as to Nero's connection with Vergil. I heard they're developing a DMC 5 which goes back to the original storyline and not the shit reboot DmC. Maybe we can hope for some explanation there as well as some character building in Nero's part/
who knows maybe dmc4 SE might have the answers to our question
DMC4 wasn't finished. Capcom rushed it out, which is why it has less content than previous titles.
Oh capcom. How I hate you.
Hopefully DMC4's Remaster will have that missing content added to it :D
While it was incomplete, it sold better then any DMC has ever sold, even surpassed DMC3.
*****
I'm not the one who's looking for other's mistake, bitch ass nigga.
+Dark Fire DMC 4 got rushed but not because of DmC
they were not working on DmC for 5 years
Strange, because the game doesn't really feel... "unfinished". It feels like the backtracking was decided on pretty early on during development. We get all the new cutscenes n shit after all and those can't be made during one weekend.
For what it's worth it's the most polished unfinished game of all time. :P
9:30 Oh my god! The nightmares!
I lost my shit laughing at this bit.
Man, 8 years was a long time ago. At least we can appreciate Nero now.
Especially in 5. Boy gets his dues in 5.
Aladelicous Well, that's not really a backtracking thing then, is it? More of a problem with level design itself.
Xqwzts Eh, the backtracking doesn't help. But yeah, the level design is the main culprit. I don't mind backtracking in plenty of other games.
***** That coming from a guy named "Aryan Soviet"? :D
***** Emmm, i didn't? You can actually check who gives thumb-ups under the comments mate. Sure, you propably need to finish pre-school education first but you'll get there eventually.
"Dante has of course to stop the demons entering the world and super pope piloting a giant statue" Is a great way to explain the story lmao
actually brit fyi, DMC4 funding got cut hence the 'not finishing the game' criticism
Really. Gonna need a source for that nigga.
STRING3R You could literally Google "DMC4 funding" and get thousands of sources in .3 seconds.
Victor Viridian i searched this quotes and all and got 7 results in .24 seconds
+STRING3R dumbass
Not quite. That one was a pretty good joke :P preety. And his computer/network was probably faster (back then at least).
Infested Chopper the greatest boss fight In DMC history.
Said no one ever.
DMC3 ROCKS!!!!!
Hell yes it does, just finished it again last night
I don't feel the video made DMC3 justice - the environment was one of the best in the series, you can coop a boss, the addition of vergil and blood palace ..
Devil May Cry: 4.5/5 (Amazing)
Devil May Cry 2: 2/5 (Bad)
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening: 5/5 (Awesome)
Devil May Cry 4: 4/5 (Great)
DMC 4: 5/5
rmhanzel Dmc2 was fucking terrible.
DMC: 3/5
DMC2: 2/5
DMC3: 4.5/5
DMC4: 5/5
DmC: 3/5
I haven't played any DMC Games, but with 5 coming out, I might play them if I can get my hands on them. So from this video, here's impressions I'm getting from each :
DMC 1: Dated, but still holds up fairly well
DMC 2: Probably should skip it....
DMC 3: Seems like the best.
DMC 4: Seems worth a shot.
Are there any disagreements or suggestions?
If you can get over the outdated gameplay of 1 then play it but I just started with 3 and watched the cutscenes from 1
So glad you acknowledged that the platforming in 1 is utter, utter, UTTER crap.
The irony is that Dante's temporary persona was Tony Redgrave
I like to show these video to friends just to e them understand how the process of entering DMC is so goddamn good. And then the wait becomes unbearable
The only thing I can think of that could've made DMC3's opening cutscene better is if, at the end, Dante said something along the lines of "Sorry about earlier."
Lugbzurg Wouldn't it be later, chronologically?
+D MAS Dante can't know how good a game he is in, anyway. So it doesn't matter... However still it would've confused many people, including me - and could easily be taken out of context - something more thought-out, like a hint of DMC2 and then the line would have done the trick. Again, it would be rather unethical to have a pejorative innuendo towards the development team...
Ok, looking back at all this, and how I've seen people declare that DMC3 was essentially an "apology" for DMC2, it's interesting to note that the very first thing out of Dante's mouth is simply the word "Sorry". I wonder if that was intentional.
Happy to see someone noticed.
I feel old as shit because I still watch this 2012 video regularly
They didn't have to rush it out but half way through development the funding got pulled.
I hate Nero personally, but I loved how he was this angsty kid whining about his girlfriend for half the game and then suddenly Uncle Dante completely hijacked the plot with his silliness.
6 years later
Holy shit I love Nero now.
Every few weeks I always catch myself binging on GB's videos. Always entertaining and great to listen to.
I remember I never beat Dmc 2, because I got lost and didn't know where to go.
i love going back to see Brit's thoughts then to now!
I'm still watching this whenever I restart the series
The thing with the recurring bosses in DMC1 was that
a) you always fought them in a different "arena"
b) they always used at least one new trick or attack
this video got me into Devil May Cry - thank you
“When you know what you do in devil may cry” *proceeds to attack shadow with a sword*
The wildest thing about this video being 10 years old is that he has the exact same voice today
I've seen your DMC reviews countless times and always watching them when I have nothing else to watch. Damn I like them so much I would even enjoy remakes of the reviews because it's so well made, telling the truth about my most fav game and give me all the nostalgic feelings.
Keep going with the awesome reviews!
I'm doing the same ^^ I like those videos, this guy knows how to entertain and convince a public
Not what I was expecting after the amazing time I had in 1
This review is pretty dated (bad), id love to see this redone today 8 years later
The video that started it all
Thank God I played Dante's Awakening as a kid when I had peak reflexes.
You have to admit, Magmoor Caverns have good music.
That's a decade of DMC right there
Ya'know someone's a casual ehen they die to the flying centipede demon lol
Rewatched this as your new DmC review is out. This video is still absolutely brilliant.
Git gud faget.
You know what's funny?Shadow is actually one of the easiest enemies lol
Blades and Frosts much more annoying than Shadows
I never understood why people say Nightmare 3 is hard, the only hard thing in the fight for me is his final form.
It's really weird now that this wasn't the first video on this channel considering it's relevance now.
i was so young playing the first dmc that i used to be scared of the enemies ahaha so i would rush to kill enemies ahha
About to replay the series looks like it's time to hype up with this video again
Capcom should sell DMC to Platinum Games, so that way DMC5 is in good hands and they don't make any more shitty titles like DmC.
the reason DmC was made was because capcom didn't really want to make anymore devil may cry games
theXtreme1man Exactly why Platinum Games should inherit the rights to the franchise.
eh. they can do whatever they please at this point
EntityDJI Jonah Drake
Eh...I think Nintendo should just buy Platinum Games,Sega, and Capcom, then they can give DMC to Platinum Games, and have Capcom focus on Monster Hunter and Street Fighter.
Where legends began
I don't know! After playing DMC3 and 4 on turbo the entire time, dmc 1 feels so very very slow.
+Noble “Dedicated Dark” Alfred Yeah, even DMC2 is faster-paced.
D MAS DMC1 is still better, better than 4 too.
DMC 1 Is supposed to be resident evil 4. No shit the combat will be stiff.
9:30 Imagine an Apache losing to a pair of pistols.
Every DMC fan could tell you what to do, so just make DMC 5 already, will ya Capcom?!
Dreams come true
Oyhhhhhbboy
Still remember that epic music in DMC3. Also, that brother was a cool character especially when you teamed up together during a boss fight 🎮🔫👍
DMC 4 Special edition... it has to be an entire different video
+Isarrot it already is.......kinda
True and since DMC 2, all the games included the options to play as different characters even if you have to unlock them. DMC 3 allowed us to play as Vergil and enjoy the use of his overpowered move set. DMC 4 gave us Nero though he was kind of worse then Dante, but still fun nonetheless.
that joke never gets old - 8:39
Dmc 4 made sense as far as dante fighting the same bosses.
I love that idea...wish there was someone in capcom that would say *hey guys dont worry the original franchise isnt dead*
mamad dial They have.
DantesLink yeah well they said that the original dante will comeback in one way or another wich is pretty ambiguous if you ask...I just hope this is a dmc5 (the real thing)
With the trademark renewal and DMC4 director still very much interested, there is a chance!
DantesLink I hope too...
CAPCOM PLEASE STOP SCREWING AROUND FOR ONCE PLEASE...I promise you that if you release the dmc5 trailer...
people will scream ALL HAIL CAPCOM...
I can tell the name change at the end of the first DMC was retconned
I'm commenting because there are 999 comments and I have ocd.
Ha, I'm taking that away from you.
We have come full circle
DMC3: "for Jesus's balls".
Pretty excellent, one ends excited.
The DmC end: I laughed my ass so hard
I haven’t even played other dmcs (yet), but nearly platinumed the first one and oooh boy it’s so fucking good
"I JUST WANTED TO FILL YOUR SOUL WITH LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT" -Dante
Going back to old videos and suddenly Brit talks like he's David Mitchell
7:34 DMC2 is so awful when you try and start a new game it shoots itself...
What bugged me the most about dmc1 was how trish barely did anything then is all giddy about being a sidekick lol
Backtracking can be great. It was in DMC1.
Just discovered this channel. Excellent stuff.
Why is your Devil May Cry 3 audio desyncing?
A new Gaming Brit ep just in time for Halloween. Just what I needed!
The audio in the Dante's Office scene in DMC3 is out of sync, and yes, it's infinitely infuriating.
The best review I've seen on this classic, thanks mate
Wait so I was playing on hard mode on dmc3 the whole time?! I wonder how did i survive all those difficult bosses.
+Mykel Bertulano By getting good at the game
+Mykel Bertulano The Japanese were underestimating the west.
J.A.D. Or...overestimating, since people said it was so damn hard?
I enjoy the fact that when you praise something, it actually holds a lot weight from bashing other things so much. Very entertaining video, wonder how the eventual DmC review will go.
the devil may cry series seems to excel heavily in a certain thing in each game
DMC1 has one of the best atmospheres in any game i've seen,
DMC2 is simply put one the most infamous ways on how not to make a sequal
3 has some of the best gameplay in any game, and is one of the hardest games ever
4 has some of the best graphics ever and dont seem to age at all
12:34 Shawn Michaels? Lmao
*"Menacing nearby Oxygen"* I'm dead
I personally like the backstory and feel another game could fill the gap. 1 is challenging and freaking awesome, 2 is dog shit, 3 has style, 4 is worth it even though dante is only a playable character part way through the game. Capcom, PLEASE, do devil may cry 5!!!! (sidenote, yes I know there's rumours about this happening)
liking and commenting just in case John Capcom, inventor of Devil May Cry, sees your post. John Capcom, please make Devil May Cry 5.
And it happended
And now you got your wish devil may cry 5 is coming
I'm really glad for this retrospective. There is so much hate for the new DMC game among series fans who "miss the old Dante," but in reality, Dante's character has changed with every iteration of the series, and the narrative effectively backed itself into a corner. If you look at DMCs 1-4 objectively, you see that they're deeply flawed and inconsistent, and in need of a fresh start (except maybe DMC 3; that one was pretty strong on its own).
