    Yup my hair does not like protective styles. It likes to be left alone (a low bun, moisture and low manipulation) and deep condition and protein treatment every other week.

    • @marlak4203
      @marlak4203 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Good. I also want to add in that protective styles ALSO includes styling your own hair in ways that protect the ends and such. Just like what you mentioned.
      Buns, updos, even high ponytails, french rolls, etc. are great because you are protecting the ends. Bantu knots/china bumps are good because the hair is wrapped up. Ends are tucked away.
      You do NOT always have to use synthetic hair in your head when doing a protective style. Unfortunately thru the years that part has been extremely forgotten.
      Even a hat and scarf is a protective. Threading too. Any styling that will cover the hair.
      And women would do them for a little while, like a few weeks to a few months and then wear their own hair. The longest would be a whole season like in thw winter.

    I've had great success with Rice water on my relaxed hair. I do the rinse right before I deep condition, So I rinse the rice water off with luke warm water then I apply the deep conditioner and only detangle my hair with the deep conditioner in my hair. That has helped me a great deal.

      It does work, but if you're going to use this don't use shampoo and conditioner that has protein, because you can get protein overload.
      I washed my hair every week with the rice water for a month. Then once every other month because I was getting protein overload. To be honest I prefer cloves water and/or cloves oil. To me I saw better results th-cam.com/video/0_VUd4UhdS8/w-d-xo.html

    One of the things I still utilize in my hair journey that you was saying is not always the best is hair grease idk what makes it grow my hair but for me it works especially if I use it with a natural oil or water....especially before a touch up, I get to softest and most manageable hair with that blue magic..the other things you said is great too those methods help a lot ... different strokes for different folks... The best thing is try everything once and listen to your hair

    To all those who wants to live the benefits of rice water, as a 3 weeks former natural and new relaxer-lady: use the rice water in your deep conditioner, pre-poo, pre-relaxer bond treatment, after co-wash, with your moisturizer. You will not have dry brittle hair when you do it like this. You have to remember that you're putting 'water' on your hair not moisture. For our hair, it benefits in moisture comes alive by using or adding moisture with it. Use it before oils, cream, chemical treatments, etc and feel the 'safe natural' benefit of this great method. It really does good work, I must say that I do feel myself safer with products of DIY aspecially when they have results that makes my stylist wonder 🙂.

  • @kamrithomas5757
    @kamrithomas5757 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I really think it all depends and just like anything you must know your own body and hair. I have used the rubber band method when protective styling and never pulled out my hair. Soaking the bands in oil prevent them from ripping your hair out . Literally slides right out. I would say don’t do it to tight which I would recommend even if you don’t use a rubber band.

      @@Dream-Meke sure you’re not deficient in any vitamins. So get blood work done. Try professional relaxer instead of box relaxer if you aren’t already. The box lye relaxer is too harsh on relaxed hair because of the calcium in it. Only thing is, no lye is a little more harsh on the scalp but I haven’t had any issues, especially when you base your hair properly. Make sure you’re not relaxing your hair bone straight, coat your relaxed ends in grease or oil before doing your touch ups, to prevent relaxer run off. Do not comb thru the relaxer when it’s in your hair. If you’ve tried everything, it might be that relaxer just isn’t compatible for your hair.

I’m relaxed with mid-back length btw and do this twice a month for a protein and deep conditioner treatment combo.

    I think you should try rice water again! It has never done me wrong. Yes it was a trend but the results are truly amazing. I only use organic rice (I love black rice). I let it sit over night at room temperature in a dark place. It doesn’t stink. I used it as a treatment and I have at least an inch of growth every month. It leaves my hair so soft and totally eliminates breakage (for me). Maybe the method you tried was off.

      Hello. Thank you for watching! It took me almost 11 months to grow my hair from the length in my thumbnail (shoulder length) to mid back. Once I made the changes… growth took off.

    I have a question. I want to relax my hair in one year time however I have heat damage. I’m going to trim my hair and I use a lot of protein to get my hair back to health. Will the relaxer break off the heat damage? Will it be safe to relax?

    • @kaylaaajanae6578
      @kaylaaajanae6578 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had heat damage too I got my hair relaxed and only needed a tiny trim you can relax your hair my hair is really thick even after getting it relaxed… the relaxer won’t break off the heat damage you’d just need the trim or a full cut when relaxed if that makes sense

      @@kaylaaajanae6578 I appreciate your comment so much. Even if the heat damage is almost to the root, it’s still safe ? I’ve been using a lot of proteins for strength

    • @MrsPennyAngel
      @MrsPennyAngel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t use protein too much as you can get protein overload and reverse everything. When you start having protein overload, you start loosing more hair and it’s starts getting thinner.
      Check on Google.
      If you want to use protein treatment, you should do it once a month (or every 5 weeks) xx

      Don’t do it. If your hair doesn’t melt off, it’ll be like straw.

    I disagree with you about using the curling iron. You aren’t supposed to curl starting from the ends. You curl from the mid length and then slowly turn the curling iron while feeding in the ends like you would with a flat iron. There are videos on TH-cam. The wrong technique (like you mentioned) will fry your ends.

    Grease does not clog the scalp. Please understand the science behind a product before giving information. Most black girls grew up with grease and our hair was long.

    • @IannaYvonne
      @IannaYvonne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please do YOUR research. Science shows that grease/ petroleum is in fact harmful for the SCALP. It is a good sealant and helps lock in moisture for the hair strands… but can cause acne, inflammation and worsen dandruff. No dermatologist or educated educated person would ever recommend for use in the scalp.
