I was in Cameroon for a few months and ate barracuda a few times in a couple of different restaurants. Never got sick. Up until that point, I was always told it couldn't be eaten. Saw it on the menu and got curious. Turns out, it was delicious.
i see loads of people eating Cuda some people say Hog fish and grouper have it then i see BlueGabe and deermeatfordinner eating everything i dont eat raw fish so i guess thats ok right.
I also noticed Amanda always has her braid over her right shoulder as Emily has hers over the right one...😍💐. Love watching y’all videos nice job on those mangroves...
Y’all watch how much sun you get and I spent 30 some odd years in the sun as a a/c repair man and now I’m 65 retired and have had so many melanomas that it’s not good. I love you channel that I just happened to come across this morning and you 2 are very good to watch you do your fishing adventures
For the smaller snappers, I've noticed that I can do almost a two cut fillet, without skin, by making an incision behind the pectoral fin, and turning the knife, and separating the fillet from the bones. Then once the fillet is loose, flip it skin side down, make an incision by the tail, and run through, right between the skin and the fillet. I loved the video, love fishing for snappers, they're lots of fun, especially around the bridges in Islamorada, or even throughout South Eastern Florida. You guys are awesome to watch, and I really enjoyed you guys slaying the snapper, keep it up!!
Yes we went fishing In Belize and caught some Barracuda, we got sick as dogs after that fishing trip! We had eaten a Cuda on that trip and learned later about getting sick from them......
@@GaleForceTwins I’ve never fished barracuda. I’ll go sit in the corner now with the dunce cap on. I really do enjoy your videos. Taking Mom out was a blast to watch. Your parents did right by you. And you by them, you listened! Very proud to see how well you teach. Not talking down to anyone allowing for each person to watch and learn at their own level of experience. I have a pair of twins (girls) around the corner from me. I think they would enjoy you both. Even if not for the fishing. But being twins. Keep yourselves safe and tight lines every trip.
I noticed at least once Emily wore small hoop earrings and at first, it confused me because I had noticed Amanda always wore hoops before I saw this video. After seeing you on Stanzfam I decided to binge-watch your videos from the oldest videos to newest. Thank you for the awesome videos with your amazing energy.
Tons of people eat baricuda and say its amazing . Its one of the most eaten fish in the bahamas . Im so addicted to the channel i would love to charter when I come down . Its not as often as id like being I live in Illinois . Only catchen large mouth n crappies these days
Another great video by the Gale Force Captains!! You guys are doing such a great job! One day we'll have a boat, catch fish, and I'll return to this video for its awesome tutorial on fish cleaning. Do I recall that you use a stone to sharpen your knives? Thanks again, ladies! :)
My 4 y/o niece recently got interested in fishing and y’all inspired me to get a fishing pole to do it with her, so we went fishing today in a pond in my neighborhood... We didn’t catch anything lol 😂 maybe next time haha keep making vids :)
I want to go fishing for mangrove snapper My wife and I have caught a ton of red snapper back when you still could. You ladies are great I enjoyed your videos and I subscribed
I love your videos and the ciguatera issue really caught my attention. Ciguatera is a type of algae that is consumed by herbivorous fish on corals which are in turn consumed by carnivorous fish (barracuda, kingfish, grouper, snapper, etc.) of which big barracuda are the most notorious in Florida. We lived in Florida for 17 years and are plotting on coming back for retirement and easy access to our son that lives in Orlando.
I'm from the Bahamas and we eat a lot of barricudas youll be surprised how great they taste try a smaller one under two feet and you'll never throw them back again
Just curious since your on big pine. What's u p with the Ole wooden bridge fish camp? Did they rebuild? Use to go there every year for the first week of lobster season
I hear the sailfish bite is on there right now. I would love to see the two of you catch one or two off your boat by yourselves. I think it would make a great video especially with the late bite going off
Great video! Ciguatera can also accumulate in your body and land you in the hospital. 'cuda's get it from smaller fish, surgeon fish, snappers, etc. so they have higher concentrations. Got 4 ono and a mahi yesterday on a floating cargo net. Going to try your ono recipe! Tightlines! Missed 4 ono [wahoo] too. Rubber hooks. lol
@@GaleForceTwins Your grilled ono [wahoo] worked great. I only had Tuscan herb blend olive oil, but I liked the light flavor that didn't hide the fish flavor. Also made a batch of your tartar sauce for a little dipping. "Broke da mouth" [Hawaiian slang for delicious], better than plain tartar sauce. Especially with a cold beer. I usually cook fish like your beer batter ono, except with panko or Italian style bread crumbs after the batter. Thanks! Tightlines!
@@hungnmiami Late June to early August. Pretty much all throughout July, you'll be able to connect. Snappers love live bait, so if you're in the keys, black out the 'wells with greenies (pilchards) and throw a few chummers out once you get anchored up by a bridge or around the patch reefs. Throw one in the chum/ chunk slick with a hook in it, and you'll connect, for sure. And also, another thing to remember, while you can fish the bridges during bright daylight, the snapper bite really turns on in the early morning, or right around sunset. Cheers! Have a great day on the water!

About the ciguatera poisoning: barely any barracudas have it and it is more common in groupers hogfish and snappers than it is in little cudas like thag
You guys should read up on ciguatera. Any large predator fish on a reef thats affected by it can get it. Snapper, amberjack, grouper etc. Barracuda get a bad rap, they are excellent eating fish and no more harmful than other fish. It's way more common in the islands than it is up here.

I have ate Barracuda back in my teenage years growing up in Belize and nothing happened. Big fish in my opinion have more mercury and have to exercise some caution. However they are good eats.
An old trick for cuda is to throw a piece of meat on an ant hill, if they eat it, it’s good to go. If they don’t throw it away. I have never tried it, but a friend of mine says it’s an old trick his grandpa taught him.
Always rinse with, cook with, drink water from... a RODI (Reverse Osmosis De-Ionization) system. If you hand wash dishes, final rinse should be under RODI tap. If you wash your fish, final rinse it under RODI tap. 👍
I was fishing In Thailand and I caught a 50 pound barracuda. We took it back to the resort we were staying at and we ate it and it was one of the best fish I’ve had. Thank god we didn’t get sick from it 😬
You can eat barracuda as long as it is under 3.5 feet long. If Dr. Albrey Arrington (aka Burrito Mas Grande) eats them I think it is safe to eat and his Fish Rules app says they are very good to eat.
i have a few friends that for and eat barracuda they say it is very tasty and none have gotten sick i remember a few tricks to find out if the barracuda has ciguatera one is cut a piece and give it to a cat if the cat don't eat it then it has the poison another is put a silver coin in its gills if the coin turns purple its poisonous cut a piece and put it on an ant hill if its not eaten its poisonous or just see how the barracuda fights if its sluggish its poisoned if not then its good to eat
