That is f!@#in SWEET!! I've seen similar hotshot trucks with the semi-like 5th wheel hitch instead of a truck bed. That to begin with is already cool as hell ESPECIALLY when you add a sleeper bunk. I've even seen 1 where dude swapped out the 5-speed tranny & replaced it with eaton fuller 9-speed (total semi-like) lol.. But NEVER have I seen a tandem dual axle car Hauler. I've seen many single dually's & of course the double and triple single 7k axle sets (all of which were only single deck). But other than tandem dual 40' Flatbeds, that's the 1st tandem car Hauler I've ever seen. Recently I saw 1 of landoll's new car Haulers which is pretty badass. Combining landolls famous sliding axle trailers into a car Hauler which they offer both a 7 & 5 car setup, the 5 being a single dual axle for hotshots. TOTALLY SWEET THOUGH! What's the GVW on that beauty? I'm hella curious. I know it's def more than 25k so would require CDL. I just love dodge rams to begin with. Other than worrying about height clearance HA, that would be 1 nice money making cruise. Hella AWESOME!!
So you mentioned it was ram 5500, but it is actually ram 4500. Ram 4500 max towing capacity is 21k. That trailer alone is 13k plus 6 cars on it is minimum 20k. So that is 33k
By stating that the Ram 4500 only tows 21k and not a range of 21k to 29k that tells me you only used Google for you information. Go read the brochure from Ram and they will show you different numbers depending on your differential, trans, 4x4..... and etc. Also DOT doesn't look at GCWR they only look at wether or not you are over your axle rating which with this trailer you wouldn't be. I have hauled a GCWR maximum of 40k lbs on my 1999 F450 7.3L and the recommended GCWR by Ford of that specific truck was 26k lbs which every human who owned one has towed more than that.

That has to be overweight the way they are loaded. The Escalade should be closer to the trailer tires imo. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think the heaviest should be sitting over the truck axle.
6 car haulers and a 6.7 Cummins , that’s nuts. I never saw 6 car haulers on hotshot….. crazy prices when you put the numbers together….over $100k wow…. These new trucks are hauling crazy numbers. I follow NR Development and Semi Slayer and they haul a triple axle dually trailer and their gcwr is 65k lbs!! They have semi trucks, hotshot, bobcats all kinds of equipments so these guys are legit AF and they swear by their hotshot trucks. Their trailers are Double A trailers from Canada super high quality from what I have seen and heard.
I personally do prefer an older semi to this but to each their own. I wouldn't mind a long nose Pete from the 90s with a CAT 3406 and converted to single axle 😁😍

You don't need much clearance to make it in normal driving situations but there are scenarios that you need to avoid to not get hung up. 9 car haulers are super low to the ground

Looking at a 4500 2022 with 4.10 gear ratio vs 5500 with 4.41 gear ratio and eventually want to move 6 car trailer. It is easier to finance a "pickup truck" than a semi but I would agree with you. This guy actually at this point has purchased a couple semi trucks and he still owns this hotshot setup
@@hotshotnewengland That rear axle is rated 13500 lbs. That axle has to carry shared weight of the cars, shared weight of the trailer and shared weight of the truck. Weigh that axle loaded one time and Im quite sure you exceed its designed weight.
@henry johnson check out IG nr_development_inc . He runs a 45k lbs gvwr trailer and doesn't go over truck axles on the same truck. It's a triple axle dually 15k lbs each axle

A lot of the weight sits on the trailer axle. You would be surprised how much gets transferred to the drive axle. There are guys with triple axle dually trailers on 5500 trucks running 60k lbs legally.
Of course why not. You just need to install a 7 pin flat plug and a brake controller as this trailer is not air brake. I had to do the same thing with my FL70 pulling a hotshot trailer

These trailers are designed to have a lot of the weight sit on the trailer axles and not carry over so much weight as a flatbed on a semi does. He will always be right on the limit though for sure as every hotshot is. Depending what he carries he could 100% be over weight
I'm assuming you never seen nr_development_inc on IG. He has a fleet of trucks from class 8 to 1/2 ton trucks and his 5500 pickup trucks haul 65k lbs gcw and he loves them.
I feel you, but he does a lot of NYC deliveries and it's illegal to drive a full semi in NYC, so there's an advantage to having a smaller setup but $128k is definitely a lot of money and opens up a lot of different options with that amount of money. 👊💪🇺🇸💰
Hotshotting with pickup trucks is more direct, less fuckery. The trucking industry as far as Semis go is really jacked up right now which is why alot of people are getting involved with the light duty trucks. Plenty of money to be made with the hassle of Semi stuff.

Today I rather a semi over a hotshot truck but there is a place for hotshots out there. He does 6 pick ups and drop offs in inner NYC streets. A lot easier to do that in a hotshot truck than a semi. 👊💪

The only thing about this vehicle that is a pickup truck is the outside body. It is more than capable to haul this load both legally and safely. Yes a semi would do it safer as it sits higher, has air brakes, bigger tires but again this truck can and has been pulling this load for a year now.

I have just converted over to the semi truck world and I love it but what he does "can't" be done with a full size rig. It's not legal to have a full size rig in NYC where he delivers. To be honest even he is probably over lenght I assume for NYC but it's a lot shorter than a full 53' with a tandem truck.

@Darrien Graham people feel threatened by hotshot trucks. I'm not into hotshot trucks anymore for what I do but I don't knock anyone who does 👊💪. Hotshot trucking is a great way to get into the trucking industry which is how I did.
I personally prefer a single axle tractor like mine. More comfort, safer and less money 💪👊. As we all know though there are thousands of these type of hotshot setup all over the US 🇺🇸

Both will do fine. I would go with 550 for better suspension and bigger rear axle so you aren't over weight on the rear axle

I have just converted over to the semi truck world and I love it but what he does "can't" be done with a full size rig. It's not legal to have a full size rig in NYC where he delivers. To be honest even he is probably over lenght I assume for NYC but it's a lot shorter than a full 53' with a tandem truck.

What makes this NoT 🥴 a real truck? Kill the goofy comments and get with the new age. These 3500's - 5500's are doing damn near the same loads as semis and at the end of the day they can drop a trailer and drive into a Wendy's drive thru or take their truck to the mall.
@Darrien Graham people feel threatened by hotshot trucks. I'm not into hotshot trucks anymore for what I do but I don't knock anyone who does 👊💪. Hotshot trucking is a great way to get into the trucking industry which is how I did.

I personally prefer a single axle tractor like mine. More comfort, safer and less money 💪👊. As we all know though there are thousands of these type of hotshot setup all over the US 🇺🇸
