    "I wont make it in time to deliver today". That is what you commonly run into in the Northeast, densely populated areas, smaller surface roads in small towns, and lots of traffic, all work to slow things down. Very ambitious to shoot for $1,000 per day, but I think the reality might be $1,000 every two days if you work hard and grind. Good stuff tow piglet!

    Hey there just wanted to say thank you for the useful content always very much appreciated, I'm currently in the process of trying to sell my car to fund buying a truck and trailer like yours to also start up a local hotshot business, I'm located in Baltimore MD and after watching this you've given me more hope and new ideas on what to do , I was originally planning on just hauling 2 or 3 cars tops due to not wanting to get a CDL and now after watching your videos I think its smarter to get a trailer where I can haul cars and be able to haul loads . I'm glad you were here locally and showed us east coast folks the benefits of trying to do local hauls . Any advice on where and how to start would be extremely helpful either from you or your fellow subscribers. Thank you again for your time and keep up everything that you're doing . Thanks

    Brokers are always trying to keep as much as possible on every load, of course they're in the business of making money. I love it when they say "LET ME ASK" let me ask who???? they already have a rate from that shipper, they don't go back to the shipper and re negotiate. brokers low ball drivers and someone always thirsty for the loads runs for pennies instead of just asking for a bit more.
    I will only take a load for little money if I need the backhaul to a better location or towards another load.. stay safe out there, liking your videos..

    We actually do blind shipping from time to time. As my customer will order something from me. If I have to have it shipped to me I have to take that manufactuing lables or distributing labels off. Then I turn around and ship it to my customer. My customer has 2 shipping rate. I save my customer money if I can ship it straight to my customer. BUT I dont want my customer knowing where I buy from because then they could buy directly from the manufacture.

      I run a 3 car trailer, don't run for less than $1,000 gross per day, have a house payment, 2 new truck payments, trailer payment, commercial insurance $2,100/month, maintenance, fuel... Take one day off for every day that I work. Also open to travel to most states. Lots of driving, lots of headaches. Really depends on your expenses, future plans for how much you should make. Let someone else take the cheap stuff.

    Alex is the best in non- cdl class in transportation industry, like a shark, he knows how to stay moving and take full advantage of ever changing situations because he knows that’s all that matters, every load that gets dropped becomes an ex-girlfriend to forget about and move on to increase the bottom line with no unnecessary spending which includes thinking spending money on specialized equipment is a total waste of money and will only contribute to eroding the bottom line, it’s ridiculous when you see all the videos on money wasted on customizing anything. Thank you again Alex

    I am a retired "HOT SHOT " Driver , but in the old days we drove the big trucks . the term " HOT SHOT " was when you picked up a load , ( lets say in Chicago, and dropped of in let's say Dallas ) without stopping . Yes it was illegal but once you get to know all the roads across the country it was much easier . In the mid 90's I averaged $2.65 per mile , and between $150.00 to $400 per drop depending on what was involved . Things have sure changed these days , harder to make money on the road , good luck out there and be safe.

    • @MrJuventino451
      @MrJuventino451 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, but 3/4 or 1 ton trucks are really expensive. And if you need a dual wheeled trailer they are all over $10k. Then you add in all your chains, binders, straps, ratchets, tarps, basic tools, ppe and next thing you know you've spent $100k. And insuring pickup trucks for commercial hauling is just as expensive as big rigs. New haulers pay higher rates. So add in about $5 or $6k for his insurance down payment, permits and plates....

    I have a friend in the trucking business single owner and operator and he tells a different story. Its not about how much i made today or a month, the hazard of this business is deadly you never know today was your last day to say goodby to your family and friends. Winter hazards, summer and rain and cargo 30,000 lbs breaks free which move forwards and crushes you and the entire cabin flat as a pancake. You have to deal with insurance semi is $12,000 a year (max factoring- cargo, safety and driving record, geographic location, coverage limits). Between 10-20K miles you have to service your truck, just oil change its $300, you have tires (1 tire is $300 alone), brake maintenance, fuel system, transmission. So factor in all these costs once you start operating depending on how much TLC your truck needs it will eat into your per mile pay. So you can be happy you collected $2.5K in two days and on the third day you suffer a massive breakdown that wipes you out at $5 or $9K. Then you have to start over again and again and again. You also have to deal with DOT fines for over loading. You as a driver carry massive risks than your broker that sits on a chair sipping hot coffee and trying to take as much as 20%-40% of your load.

    The truck and trailer don't know a "local" mile from a cross country mile, it's the same wear and tear per mile on your equipment, plus you save on motels and food. Win-win-win!

    • @larrythompson8630
      @larrythompson8630 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually I disagree. I put less wear, tear on interstate then small roads, towns, tight turns, stopping... interstate there are many more parking options with showers, eating if you want to save $$$

  • @maxithotshotadventures9616
    @maxithotshotadventures9616 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I make decent money on local loads, you do have to hustle to get them. I do a little of both, the specialty loads pay the best. Most of my loads are usually over night, which I consider that local. I do lot to California, which ranges from 600 to 1200 miles, depending on where I am going, you can make good money on locals for sure! Brokers will use you again if they know your going to be in the area.

    You keep saying that the 1g came easy. But a 100k truck and trailer doesn't seem so easy

    • @swampliger8770
      @swampliger8770 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It actually is most people can afford a 30k to 40k truck that can pull 10,000lbs and get a trailer none gooseneck you do not need a gooseneck for these types of loads for total 50k make 1 grand or more a day if you look and profit 300 like he was saying a day if not more. Do that for a year that's 800 x 300 about 240k or bare minimum you make 200 a day times 300 that's 60k that is not bad at all. So no it's not easy but being a grown up who wants to make 250k a year isn't easy. You just have to try. Honestly i took 5 min for local loads near me one job pays 1300 for 300 miles driven 1200 load weight with my truck which is the example above i would make 1100 on that job minute car payment lets say 600 is average and 100 for trailer payment 700 total a month that's 23 a day and taxes 200 roughly lets say i profit 800 that's not bad for 5 of looking and a days worth of driving. This reply isn't for you but the ppl actually wanting to try in life.
