it's actually Andy Macleod from Love as Laughter. Brandon Angle did play bass for LaL for a few years before this airing so the mistake was easy to make.
My ex girlfriend showed me this song one day at the campus, I listened to it and loved the guitar, looked for the band at home and discovered it was played by Johnny Marr and as a Smiths fan I was utterly captivaded. Fernanda, if you ever read this, this is the only good thing you did for me you piece of crap
This was when I got into the band, such an amazing record front to back. It feels so surral now that Johnny Marr just decided to full-on join Modest Mouse for a while, like a fever dream lol
How do you go about asking John Marr to be in your band? I mean, I know Modest Mouse is awesome, but was it seemed like something Isaac Brock just blurted out when he had had the courage of one too many Frenets. (Next day his band mates were like, "Dude, you were housed last night. You asked Johnny Marr to be in the band... He said yes, and I don't think he was kidding.")
Johnny Marr strikes me as one of those masterclass individuals that doesn't have much of an ego and is extremely humble, simply because he has an outlet for his amazing talent and can always find one. He plays the guitar very well and is one of the best. End of story. He doesn't strike me as one who sits around and broods about his fame and genius or how to maximize his stardom. In a way it holds him back, but in another way it's refreshing. Sometimes I wish he had a better manager that would fill his head with what he truly needs to hear: "Damn it, Marr. You're the best. Don't settle. And Modest Mouse? They're ok, but you could do better. Quit selling yourself short or simply hopping from gig to gig. If you wanted, you could be HUGE."
It takes two drummers to be noticed when you have bloody, freakin Johnny Marr to contend with!!! Marr is masterclass. He's so damn good and I don't think he even knows it or even much cares. He just gets up there and makes any song quite enjoyable.
At the time it seemed perfectly natural that a giant of british indie would momentarily join a pretty obscure American band for one album. Now it seems bananas.
i am really trieing to remember my sources...fuck...maybe their myspace..or wikipedia..i really forgot but if i find it again ill be sure to share...burt eric judy is the man..im sad dan gullicci is out of the band now too.
JM added so much texture to their sound - an effortless fullness. Without him they sound ..... not so great. Even with another guitarist doing the Marr parts, it's still not the same. JM is just so great.
I think we've put enough years behind ourselves and this release to admit that, yes, this wasn't as good as any of their previous albums, but it still had a couple of bangers.

oh hey Johnny Marr, didn't see you there...
My ex girlfriend showed me this song one day at the campus, I listened to it and loved the guitar, looked for the band at home and discovered it was played by Johnny Marr and as a Smiths fan I was utterly captivaded.

looool what a story, Basty
Basty Elwood Cobain Wow lolz
Hahahahahahahah That's the best thing i've ever read on youtube.
THANK YOU!
The realtionship melted but you still have "Dashboard".
Now THATS a fucking comment!
Bravo
I love how Johnny Marr was more front & center than anyone else, w the most space! Respect to a Legend!! Love him!
johnny marr!!!!
Wow! Johnny Marr!!! The Legend!
Johnny Marr is one of the most under-appreciated guitarists. He writes the most amazing riffs!
what? he is extremely appreciated in the whole indie-forum...
Sean Johnson -- Nah, no worries. Johnny Marr is God. Anybody who knows anything knows him.
No, he Is not under-appreciated.
Nah the smiths are seen as the all time legends of 80s alternative next to the cure and joy division i wouldn’t call them under appreciated
I have always said to everyone Johnny Marr is the riff master. 'This Charming Man', genius
Two drummers
Fucking amazing
An indication of a tight band
You guys fucking rock!
Thank you
The percussion alone always gives me the feels!
Such a great album!
This was when I got into the band, such an amazing record front to back. It feels so surral now that Johnny Marr just decided to full-on join Modest Mouse for a while, like a fever dream lol
Umms, David? Hello!? That's Johnny Marr! Show some respect to the geezer!
jczapa7
Yeah but I think Johnny's more than happy to stay in the background.
The camera operators certainly knew it was him....they practically had a camera one him just for closeups
And another great thing about them is now they have Johnny Marr as the guitarist. Doesn't get much better than that.
How is life going
Wow 13 years
This dam song still holds up!!!
Always
>when the band has 2 drummers
Alt Rocker nice dubs
It doesn't add anything. I saw Trail of Dead play with 2 drummers too and it's generally a waste of tour bus space IMHO.
It generally means one of the drummers is related to the Band's leader
gud wan
Loren Darcy but that is because its trail of dead, not Modest Mouse.
Some guy in the beginning was mind blown by the Modest Mouse Album title I guess, which is an awesome phrase if I say so my self
That was Paul you dunce!!
Sir J Marr leading with his perfect riff - Saluting a magician. Respect.
johnny marr!!!!!

IIRC I read that Modest Mouse was Marr's daughter favourite band, and that's how they got onto each others radar.
The outsider a perfect circle

I believe they put an ad in a local Portland newspaper for a 'Johnny Marr-style guitarist', and then Johnny Marr turned up to audition!
You've gotta check out the clip with Marr telling the story about when Happy Mondays tried to force him to join them. Should be here on youtube.
The mouse always makes me smile - thanks!
Que chingoneria de rola y que perfecta ejecución larga vida modets mause
Is that Toby Flenderson from the Office on keyboards?
It's Tom Peloso.
Erik Barbour
Toby. They probably pre-recorded his part because he would probably mess up.
🤣🤪
It appears that Dave was oblivious to the fact that he had legendary Johnny Marr on stage...
johnny fuckin marr
Love this! Love mm
These guys are the coolest guys ever
So very drummers wow
Two drummers?! How does anyone even manage to keep one drummer?!
It takes two drummers to be noticed when you have bloody, freakin Johnny Marr to contend with!!!
Marr is masterclass. He's so damn good and I don't think he even knows it or even much cares. He just gets up there and makes any song quite enjoyable.
They have 3now
Look up King Crimson, 3 drummers
confused slipknot screaming
If Spinal Tap taught as anything it's that you always need a spare drummer...
wow drummers are awesome
Johnny Marr
Its just cool as fuck to see johnny playing with these dudes
TIME FLIESSSSSSS
You know it’s going to feel real and authentic when the only thing in tune is the keyboard.
He just throws the shaker over his shoulder at 1:50 haha
Commitment!
AKA a Maraca.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥 Modest mouse is life…
Best MM song
That was so tight I got claustrophobic in a good way.

The Smiths😮🎸Johnny Marr!!!
Anyone else see Jeremiah Green through the shaker at 1:49 ?
Imagine not shaking Johnny Marrs hand at the end! Tisk tisk
Tobey Maguire and topher grace? oh God, don't tell me that this was around the time of spider man 3's release.
+Maztuhmind It was.
Stiffler on bass!
Apparently, Love as Laughter signed onto Glacial Place, so I'm wondering if Angle will be replacing Judy while he's off to take care of Milo.
Ual qui Fantastic ,Se só Modest Mouse é foda melhor ainda com Johnny Marr .
i'm not. i was just trying to give an opinion. and yeah, they do deserve a lot of fans, just not fans who are fake.
They do the best pixies impersonating
going to see them on 420!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy shit...Johnny Marr was in this band from 2006-2008....how the hell did Isaac pull that off?!?!
At the time it seemed perfectly natural that a giant of british indie would momentarily join a pretty obscure American band for one album. Now it seems bananas.
wasn't Float On like a top 10 hit? not that obscure
Anyone know the TP&A reference in this song?
Where is Eric? He was still in the band during this time.
I think I actually saw this on tv and just realized that - strange
Was it funny
JOHNNY MARR!!!!
Johnny Fuckin Marr
Johnny Fuckin’ Marr
Does anyone know what shoes marr is wearing?
Brick love lamp
Johnny love jaguar
he left the tour for unknown reasons
Costello has this stuff down.

Jonny Marr so good they had to get two drummers just to keep up.
rico nasty
Jajajaj era mouse jejejw
This is a lot better than the album version.
Is that Toby on keyboards?
i am really trieing to remember my sources...fuck...maybe their myspace..or wikipedia..i really forgot but if i find it again ill be sure to share...burt eric judy is the man..im sad dan gullicci is out of the band now too.
The two drummers thing is kinda awesome! Like this if you agree!
Two what??? I was too busy watching the jingle jangle God known as Johnny Marr.
JM added so much texture to their sound - an effortless fullness. Without him they sound ..... not so great. Even with another guitarist doing the Marr parts, it's still not the same. JM is just so great.
Meh, that's extremely subjective!! They've had so many great records. He only made one record with them. Your comment holds no water.
You hear that? No water!
He hasn't left the band you fools!
Kudos, he could have sang it better if he didn’t play guitar, but he had to because ARTIST
i heard he dropped out of the tour completely.
The vocal performance is kinda weak....but other than that it's great. Im seeing them on the 10th.
Hey band here is the new guitarist, his name is Jimmy Page or something.
no judy
Not the same without the falsetto backing vocals.
Tobey maguire?!!!so it's true he is gonna be in spiderman 3....no way home this proves it
Letterman had no idea that Johnny played on his show...what a big ignorance
I think we've put enough years behind ourselves and this release to admit that, yes, this wasn't as good as any of their previous albums, but it still had a couple of bangers.
Which one is Bono?
Sucks the band didnt get to say anything. Good music anyway
Johnny Fuckin' Marr. Can the man make bad music?
where the FUCK is ERIC JUDY??????
what the fuck does he even say at 1:52
He's not, like, out of the band or anything, is he? I fucking hope not...
Maybe it’s the recording but this live version sucks. The recorded song is awesome.
Vocal seems a miss match. Modest singing skills
Great riff by johnny marr.
They're sublime.
Who is this comment even for? Who asked you? Kook
