every performance is like they got together before it and said "ok, guys, let's do our best performance ever". It's like they never get tired of doing this, true love and dedication
This album and performance was16 years ago so that makes me a million years old. I am shvitizing just watching. Loved them then and now, it's 2021 and I remember when they set a new standard for passion.
I just knew that they must've made a Letterman appearance! My kids (6 & 4-1/2) absolutely love this song! and call it "the song that makes us go crazy" because when I put it on, they go running around laps all over the house. Their enjoyment of this song captures what Arcade Fire have on this album, purely genius melodies with perfectly balanced instrumentations and vocals with raw emotion! One of the best songs ever recorded, though not be recognized by radio, at least in this generation.
This is the performance that really turned me on to the band. One of the best Letterman live acts ever, in my opinion. I loved the guy beating the beating the drum! I can't seem to get tired of seeing this performance.
Best experience is when you see it live instead of behind the TV. Television cannot capture the rawness of their performences. Glad to say I saw them twice and had the opportunity to meet Win & Co after one of the Montreal shows years ago when they played in the crowd for their encore.
I saw this band live, it was the best live performance I've ever seen. Not even my favorite bands perform as well live. So much energy. If you haven't seen them live you have no idea.
I saw them at Voodoo festival in New Orleans about 5 years ago and it was life changing. As soon as concerts open up again I am going to their first show.
My introduction to Arcade Fire was when U2 would play Wake Up before they came out on stage during the 2005 How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb tour....I became hooked and still remember the goosebumps hitting the moment I heard it hit when we saw U2 in Chicago 2005
I've never really listened to this band before, until today. I love it when u stumble across a band and just know instantly that ur really gonna get into them.
this is the song that first got me interested in them 4 years ago. theyve been my favorite band since! funeral kept me alive on many long family car trips!!!
Hey everyone... so glad you enjoyed this upload!! when I saw this on Letterman originaly it gave me chills and I knew I had to get it and post it. I actually even EQed the audio a little as well. Please buy the new album "Neon Bible" and if you don't have "Funeral" go back and buy that as well ( It was an instant classic for me and will go sdown in my top 10-20 albums of ALL time). peace.. Wenz..
Four years ago and now they are in top best of always. They deserve it so much, they love what they do with a passion and it comes across. I think they are brilliant, Going to see them in Cardiff, Wales, December - can't wait!
i saw these guys not to long ago and it was the greatest experience of my life, after the show they just hung out for a whi;le and talked and signed autographs it was amazing...win and company are the best band ever!!!
This performance was the first time I heard Arcade Fire, so all the people calling me a hipster and saying I jumped on some bandwagon can shove it. Been listening to them since 2006.
What I love the most in Arcade Fire is their personality... and that shows not only in the nostalgic feeling behind their music, but also in their clothes, their attitude, their energy. They seem to have a reminiscence of gothic in them, but it goes beyond that... To me, this makes them one of the very best bands to appear since 2000.
I've heard so much about this band and was wondering what all the fuss was about...this is the 3rd song/video I've checked out and now i get it....I like it!!!! cool stuff. Great lyrics. I think i will make a purchase. thx for posting!
bestr late night tv performance ever. i had this saved on my dvr a couple years ago. when he strums the back of his guitar... win also has the best whoo in the biz
This was so good. The singer is so damn talented. This is the first time I've watched anything live, and I was seriously expecting his voice to be nowhere close to how it sounds on the albums, but I'm fucking impressed. I wish there were concerts coming up..
1st time I heard that song was in the serie Six feet under . I am addicted to Arcade Fire since .. Win was raised in my city .. Proud of him ..❤ Saw them in concerts ..🎉🎉🎉 David Bowie 🙏 was right about them ..❤
wow. what a great performance. it's the first i've actually seen arcade fire in video form, even though i own their first two albums and kind of saw them live once. great stuff. they are great players and the songs are awesome. it looked as though they were having a good time playing. i want to be in that band. good stuff.
I'm so glad you guys can discover other bands from Canada (thanx to the net & TH-cam) there are so many talented musicians here (and in other countries of course :) unfortunately all you see or hear is Justin Baby Beaver and Celine Dion.. but we have a very strong "underground" culture that's very alive and well, punk, blues, ska, rock 'n roll music etc... don't get fooled by major corporations trying to make us dumb ;)
I saw this band live and I was in a complete awe. my jaw dropped for most of the show. how all of them can play so many instruments and how they all combined give such an unique sound and vibe... and how they really seem to love it and have so much fun with all of it... amazing.
I got to see Arcade fire live in concert in 2006. One of those huge festivals with 50 bands. At the time I was not a fan of theirs. So, seeing them live, I did not appreciate their music. It was not until after that I bought their music, when I could understand it. I wish I did before the concert. Because I could remember the experience better. I LOVE this song, they played it. But I barely remember.
I love on this performance in the begining Win looks over at Regine to see if she is looking at him, then as soon as he turns away she looks to him to see if he is looking at her, niether of them finding the eye contact they so obviously wanted. It's the little things that make me smile. Btw, incredible performance of an awsome song
I dig the mosrite! My uncle has one from the 60's that i got to hang on to for a while cool guitars with real low action. I suggest trying one. Great performance!
every performance is like they got together before it and said "ok, guys, let's do our best performance ever". It's like they never get tired of doing this, true love and dedication
I was there in the audience and seen this live. Then went to the hotel and watched it again that night. Very good ...
+Stan F Wah? You lucky f*cker
sweet brah !

I remember watching this with my dad and we just stared at each other in awe. They've been my favorite band since.
That sounds like a great moment!
holy shit. Can't believe how old this is. I used to watch this alll the time.. almost ten years.
Holy shit 2006 was almost ten years ago what the fuck
Fuck me, that is really hard to believe. But yeah, 10 years ago.
I would have been 3 when this video was released... oh god.
remember how 2006 was almost 10 years ago? Good times
what is your point ? You are old ?

Just saw them this weekend in Montreal, possibly the best band I have ever seen live!
I saw this band live, it was the best live performance I've ever seen. Not even my favorite bands perform as well live. So much energy. If you haven't seen them live you have no idea.
.... freaking Win Butler.
I hope all of you have the absolute pleasure of seeing them live. I saw them at Bonnaroo this year and I want to relive that moment forever.
I think of that gig nearly everyday lately.
I saw them at Voodoo festival in New Orleans about 5 years ago and it was life changing. As soon as concerts open up again I am going to their first show.

You know a band is good when they sound better live than they do on the album version...I was blown away...
this is the song that first got me interested in them 4 years ago. theyve been my favorite band since! funeral kept me alive on many long family car trips!!!
The best music comes out of Canada.
Holymakinaw hard to argue that - per capita anyway.
And the UK
Win butler is American and regine is Haitian so it’s not all Canada at all
The beat music of all time comes from the USA and the UK
@@sambt123 Meh. I said "to come out of Canada". And Montreal is where the band formed, played, & started recording. Hence.......OUT OF CANADA.
God they sound so great !
Old ass comment
@@penguinraids2723 i'm still here :p

well that was brutally amazing
So incredible. Such a spiritual band
Half of the people that use the word "over-rated" don't know the exact definition of the word. Arcade Fire are quite under-rated in a way.
A Grammy begs to differ
Someone thinks they can play, so yes they are greatly over rated.
Flacid House booooooo
Captain Acoustic they kinda blow
@@TheTheTheTheTheThe 3fingers
arcade fire are a fantastic band, i could watch this clip over and over.
It's like the whole band camp got together and formed a group. Good stuff!
So sweet. I love how there are so many members. Makes the performance really lively with all the different personalities. YA ARCADE FIRE!!!
Saw them last night in Montreal, excellent show.
holy, crap. Freeaking godlike, I got chills! I think I pissed my pants. Just mind blowing to think this was all live! woah!
Happy Arcade Fire won the grammy. However, they should have won it with this album(Funeral) first. It's a freakin' masterpiece!
i saw these guys not to long ago and it was the greatest experience of my life, after the show they just hung out for a whi;le and talked and signed autographs it was amazing...win and company are the best band ever!!!
Who's still listening in 2021 💛
the best band i've ever seen live. it's great fun to listen the music and the show the make - very nice :)
they are playing like thier whole career depends on this sole performance!! just great.
one of the best bands i've seen in my few short years but this brings me back!! CRACKING TUNE!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!
u alive?
I don't think so @@Harsh-yg3cc
With bonus Owen Pallett. Brilliant.
So much power... I miss this kind of Arcade Fire a bit
This performance was the first time I heard Arcade Fire, so all the people calling me a hipster and saying I jumped on some bandwagon can shove it. Been listening to them since 2006.
in all fairness, isn't saying you were into them way before the bandwagon so much more of stereotypical "hipsterism?"
Wrath of Tron I have no idea. I don't know anything about the tenets of hipsterism.
+DesertArizona So you're saying... you liked them before they were cool?
How very non-hipster of you.
It's so hipster bandwagon jumper-like of you to make such a point and 2006 is pretty late considering they came out in 2002/2003
Win is totally the mad genius. Love it! I'm having a bad arcade fire live craving... Play Europe! Now!
I always have to put coat on when watching this video, to account for the goosebumps
Best description of this awesome band ever
Awesome!
This band is just so amazing. I love them. The music they bring just completes me if you know what I mean...
Does anyone else find it funny when Win tries to play a guitar at 1:02 xD
- playing - Oh wait, lookie here! It says "Flip to use"... Oh, Okay, then.
Love it
He's doing it to keep beat without making noise.

Camera focuses a little too heavy on the percussion rather than the amazing strings. That aside, another amazing Letterman musical performance.
I've heard so much about this band and was wondering what all the fuss was about...this is the 3rd song/video I've checked out and now i get it....I like it!!!! cool stuff. Great lyrics. I think i will make a purchase. thx for posting!
This song is an all time great, and makes one said knowing the heights Arcade Fire reached so early on before flaming out like a shooting star.
Dont panic something is cooking.
Flaming out? “We” was an incredible album
@@SFO14 Yeah, sadly I don't agree.
@@kosherwinetastings it was well received critically, and better than “Reflektor” and “Everything Now” IMHO
@@SFO14 I hear. It's all personal taste. And yeah, We was a step forward, just nothing close to the early albums.

I believe he knew exactly what he was doing.
Amazing performers, great, skilled musicians.
Arcade Fire die neuen TALKING HEADS?
Amazing!! Everytime I listen to this song I feel alive and this version rules!!
Back when Win's voice was great and the band's energy was still high. Amazing!
Awesome performance! The crazy starting with the violins, etc reminds me of A Day in the Life
Plot twist: single drum guy isnt part of the band.
1st time I heard that song was in the serie Six feet under .
I am addicted to Arcade Fire since ..
Win was raised in my city ..
