Welcome to the hobby! I’ve been collecting on and off again for 25 years. I buy whatever looks good to me, a small percentage of Hasbro, and a lot of third party. I’d say I’m balanced in my purchases of masterpiece scale and legends scale. I’m game for some KO’S too.
Magic Square and NewAge are kings right now for a reason. I had to choose one line and went with NewAge. I love(d) Iron Factory too, but they're veering off in the samurai direction more and more and probably won't be doing G1-but-with-upgrades much longer.

Or even worse, because i had been collecting third party legends scale for a while before discovering Newage (MS, Dx9... u name it) and i have quite a few... and now i want to replace all of them for Newages!! Already got Sounwave, Optimus, Megs, Reflector and the Insecticons. Their detail and engineering is just surreal, i just recently got the H13C Lucifer (not Starscream) and i am mind blown by it. Newage rocks!! 👏👏

Hello. I agree I started collecting figures in legends scale, in the fall 2022. Not wanting to start from scratch, I decided to sell my previous Transformers collection and use the money to buy Legends. Currently my collection consists of over 73 figurines: New age, magic square and mech fans toys. I do not regret my decision because the appearance and quality is much better. I started doing Legends and I love it. I really wanted toon accurate figures so Magic Square and sometimes New Age fit that bill better than anything. I have around 50 figures now and I absolutely love them. Both companies are so great. And if you get figures when they first come out, MagicSquare has their own store front where you can get the figures much cheaper than other places. I do love how they scale with the Legends combiners etc. I really think going forward more and more people will move to these as they are so much cheaper and most are really good quality as well.
50!? That’s awesome! I had no idea about the MS store- that’s really cool! I do like the MS figures as well, but I think I’m sticking with NA for scale and the way they do their plastics, die-cast, and paint. And I believe you are 100% right- These legends scale figures look just as accurate as the MP-scale ones, have excellent transformations, and great-looking alt modes too. Every transformer is going to have some level compromise- it’s necessary for the transformation to work- and it’s shocking just how subtle those compromises are in most of these legends figures. They are not second-tier figures at all; they are first-tier figures at a smaller size. It’s really quite remarkable 😊.
Newage primarily all I collect as well, I'm in my mid 40s and started collecting Oct 2021, no more Hasbro except for a few good core class. Newage is releasing soon an Omega Supreme and PowerGlide as well this year.
i am just now getting into the Legend scale stuff and it sucks because some of the G1 guys I need like Prowl, Blue Streak and Sideswipe are going to cost me a ton to obtain. Im leaning toward Magic Square tho, I just like the size. NA is too small for me. Which its crazy that their vehicle modes are largely the same size and yet when you transform them MS is way taller.
There's complaints that the quality of Hasbro's releases had been lacking recently but i wouldn't mind them copying NewAge's design but supersizing it. I see the design influence on recent StudioSeries 86 toys based on NewAge. The only complaint that I have with NewAge is that they need to supersize their toys to at least 25% bigger. If Hasbro's going to supersize&mass produce NewAge's toys, I'm hoping that they be the same price or even less of current SS86 releases. I'd buy double to display them in both modes or one for display in unopened box and the other for play.

Now it's the the only modern G1 line I collect and my Hasbro collection hear been sold off. Newage do reissue older figures, periodically, so if you're patient enough, you can fill in the gaps, without paying ebay prices.
Yes you are right! It’s tough competition trying to get them at times. I usually settle for eBay if it’s within $10-15 of the ShowZ price. But some of them, like Starscream H13, I paid WAY too much for ($115) on eBay. This was before I found that older figures get restocked on ShowZ. Patience definitely can pay off. I still have my Hasbro, but I’m 100% done buying them. All NewAge from here on out 😊.
I've been getting some of the MFT legends which scale a bit taller and are cheaper than NA and MS. I really like them, but with all of the 3rd party masterpiece and KO options for MP figures, I won't spend the same money on legends. If I had to start a collection now, I'd still start out with the $33 KO car bots. Even that KO Fun House Magnus for $90 is a great figure.with die-cast and has other upgrades. My space is limited to but I still wouldn't convert.

I agree with you! I have a few of the Core class. I think Soundwave and Skywarp are excellent. Megatron, Prime and Shockwave are very good, and then there is Hot Rod, who is terrible 😂.
Great stuff for sure, but it’s just a preference thing. I sacrificed some G1 accuracy for firmer materials and more paint. Either way, whatever makes you happy is the right choice 👍.

@@johnstrife7 you just have to turn them back and forth while pulling. I know they are snug, but that’s just the way NewAge does a lot of their stuff. Sometimes so snug you fear breaking them!
It’s what they used to call the smaller class of toys at Hasbro. It’s been replaced by Core class, which I believe runs a bit smaller overall. Since these are larger than Core, people typically call them Legends scale 😊.
I honestly in my heart believe you chose the wrong scale. I think Legends scale is the worst scale to go for as far as transformers simply because it’s not an official scale recognized by Takara and Hasbro. It’s bigger than core class and smaller than mainline. Masterpiece on the other hand is supported by everyone including multiple 3rd party brands. When you decide to go with Legends scale for your collection, your basically committing to buying product from only 2 companies (Newage and Magic Square). Always go with MP
I think it’s a matter of preference and space-saving as well. I’d argue the H27 Prime and H45 Jetfire are two of the best looking Transformers ever. Soundwave, H21, is one of the most G1-accurate figures you’ll ever see. Them being so small means you can have more figures and use less space, and quite frankly with very little compromise from their limited size. For me, it’s NewAge or bust- if a character doesn’t exist, I’ll wait. Their stuff is that damn good! 😊 One other issue I have is ratchet joints- I really don’t like them because of the limited range of motion. However, in the MP scale, they make a lot more sense than friction joints due to the weight of the parts. I prefer the smooth movement of friction joints, and they work best on smaller figures. It’s ultimately a personal thing, but I appreciate your perspective. 😊

If thats a problem to u then buying MPs is much worst😂u are buying from takara, fantoys, xtransbots, dx9, maketoys, badcube, unique toys, to name a few. Lots of legends collectors see no problem mix and matching figures from magic square and newage.. even mft. Heck even if youre the picky bitchy diva type😂😂.. u can always buy only newage or buy only magic square stuff.. ive seen people do that too.

How do NewAge look displayed with HasLab Unicron? Ditto for whatever the largest MP Metroplex is.

100% good advice. Those Ultra Magnus antennas actually pop off too without much force. Losing one or both would make him look weird. 😆

Three zero wfc trilogy Optimus Prime is perfect it doesn’t transform but it really doesn’t take away from the figure
