I've had paint chipping on the smoke stacks but nowhere else. As for the matrix chamber, there are little indents near the hinges that you can push with your nail to open it. You're just pushing on the translucent plastic so theres no risk of chipping. New age seems to have foreseen people trying to pry it open from the center but that doesnt seem to stop people from doing it anyway. They also designed it that way so you can open the chamber while fully armored. Also pieces falling off is pretty easy to avoid with some careful manipulation.
Great video. Nice to have all the faults pointed out before I considered buying Delta Magnus (I only really wanted the inner 'Blue Optimus Prime') but was very reluctant to hand over the 130/140 bucks. Cheers!!
I have this magnus and I will say I don't ha e nearly the amount of issues this wonderful gentleman has (paint's fine, joints are tight, magnus ears don't fall off) however I don't handle it a whole lot and I haven't transformed it more than maybe 6-7 times, so I dunno how it holds up. Ymmv, but it's one of my favorites!
Older Newage figures tend to have REALLY durable paint. Its a shame to see that start to falter since my various newage figures never had paint issues.
And to think that the upcoming Magic Square "Light of Victory" (Optimus Prime 2.0) is $105 at ShowZ Store. This...is a problem. The MP44 KO is about $100 on a good day (I had pre-ordered mine when it was still $98), and Magic Square's MP sized "Light of Freedom" is $115. This new Optimus of theirs had better be their best figure ever, or it could bite'em. Newage does have a figure-only version of their "David" ("David Youth Version"...) that looks very MP44 KO style (minimal paint) which is $50, but wow...these Legends sized figures are gettin' outta hand.
Newage is personally my favorite line. Overall, they put out some quality figures. The size some people have to get used to, but I think it's a nice scale so they don't take up so much space. The paint chipping sucks that it happened, I've noticed that as they have started to blow up, they are starting to show more issues little by little. I hope it's not a trend that's gonna start happening, that's what will turn me off but there usually on point when it comes to a quality piece transformormation, structurally, the paint apps, and the accuracy of the look most of the time. It's a really nice line to collect, in my opinion. Every line has issues at times, but newage does a good job overall.
My only real problem with this ultra mag is that the crotch has become loose, and idk if there's any fix for it yet (other than that I love this guy, and started collecting the newage line)
I think this is one of the better looking Ultra Magnus figures. I dont like how the prime used for it has a single hip flap up front and that faux chest just doesn't look good/right from any angle other than straight on. It doesn't blend well and gives him a ton of space from head to the front of the chest. Waiting on Magic Square to see reviews
A legends figure, has a better vehicle entirior and as good possibility as a masterpiece figure, what kind of age do we live in? *THE TWISTED GREAT ONE*
I actually am starting to think part of the problem with chipping is fans since if a figure doesn't have paint people call it cheap, and even strong paint can still chip hell some of the paint for gundums I've done my self that I've given enamel have chipped.
I honestly can't blame any company for the paint chipping in MP and Legends MP style of figures. Figures are gonna have that issue as long as their customers keep requesting for figures to be painted to be considered "premium".
1:50 You vs the guy she told you not to worry about Also, SS Ratchet is still stuck there 🤣 I watched the video where that first happened a couple days ago, so I understood the reference!
This helps but the problem isn't the paint, it's how badly its adhered to the surface. If the whole thing got a bath in clear it would just prolong the inevitable. It's too bad that in rushing to get these figures out or just not wanting to invest the time, some valuable steps that I consider easy are overlooked.
I believe they had to change the chest so you can still access the Matrix from the full Magnus mode. As the larger windows of the original mould would have collided with the armor.
The paint chipping was also a problem with their galvatron(and subsequent variants), I don't have that problem with the nemesis prime, probably cause of the different chest design
You know something that kinda pissed me off now? He just has a better leg engineering than David! Look it's way way cleaner and in the truck mode it looks perfect perfect with no feet armature or curved kibble to interrupt the perfection, just simple and compact like it should be. Now the part that makes me kinda pissed off is that this engineering is used only for Delta Magnus, Magnus, Shattered Glass and Nemesis, none of the actual prime figures use it and they just don't change it, there are new comic and "movie" based Optimus and they will still come with the inferior vents and feet
Anyone else think magnus looks better without all the red and blue armor and just the white? I wanna buy an ultra magnus just for that sick white prime look
I just looked at the smoke stacks on mine and they're chipped as well. may have to get some Tamiya chrome silver and top coat and fix it. But i shouldn't have to do this for a figure that costs as much as it does.
in head cannon, Dion and Pax are Magnus and Prime.. rebuilt, with Magnus utilizing the trailer as body armour, yet, smiliar all el else except color-wise. BUT, didn't Hasbor (recently) come out to say magnus is not Dion, nor does Magnus ever look like Prime during transformration, and that his transformation with his trailer is 1:1, mch like MotoMaster?
My newage Delta Magnus arrived in the mail and by some miracle there hasn't been any paint chipping. Its a shame because I'm hesitant to get the Ultra Magnus colors...
The Optimus and Magnus mold are the outlier. Since it's in such high demand, they both have more intricate features (paint/engineering/looks) and a higher price point than the rest in their catalogue. Most of the car-formers are more affordable and accessible, "most".
Holy Primus where did you buy this figure at?? I am a regular Newage collector and I've never seen your issues on the Magnus mold from anyone. My Delta Magnus version has durable paint and no loose parts.
You don't have any issue because you have delta magnus. The repaints are sold later and tend to fix the major issues of the original release. Per example, the repaints always have tighter joints then the original.
I still got a problem with my shipment. My box did not include his Shattered Glass faceplate. My shop order was from ShowZStore. Not sure if they’re to blame for his unfortunate paint/tolerance issues. It’s not widespread qc issue, I know that for sure!
@@cjb9510 I have ultra magnus too, and I encounter similar issues. I have the same problems as him, outside of the chest (I did some research and avoided a nasty surprise). They all seem to have the floppy ab crunch, the loose magnus arms, paint chiping on the exaust pipes etc... Those are problem that plague most instances of this release, it is absolutely a widespread issue. It just doesn't affect the delta magnus version
You should try out the Newage seekers. The original star scream has some weird issues with its floppy legs, but the following seekers fixed those. That said, the star scream is still VERY good and the stand helps mitigate the floppy legs a lot.
I have the Newage David and I gotta say that it's really good Only problems I have is that the transformation causes some paint chipping, leg transformation is pretty hard without some part separator, and the ab is pretty loose
David differs abit from this mold. The legs don't stand out as much as David. Weird that all other Primes N.A. released after use the new leg configuration.
2:25 isn't that because the chest in Ultra Magnus opens in a different and smaller way than Optimus? Magnus has the armor on top so it has to be different
This was in my list but the problems... specially with the paint, it's not worthing the price (for me). It's a shame because I'm starting with legend scale. Thank for all the info.
I have the Shattered glass version of this mold and there are no issues involving loose (waist) joints nor paint chipping. HOWEVER he is shipped with Nemesis' black spare hands instead of the dark blue, so there's that. I'm kinda glad I didn't pick this one up, since I already bought the Iron Factory Beef'amus Ambus when it released. But then again, I really wanted a shattered glass Prime but spending a little over 75 bucks (almost the same price as this Mini Magnus), not really sure if it is indeed worth it for some people. I usually say: if you're considering it, then your choice is made. Though, I totally understand the counter point of "It is worth considering for all the figure has to offer". On plus note, I do think he can pull of a Peekaboo Prime... haven't tried it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's doable.
I'm only 2mins in & I gota say great review!!..(I think is amazing for the size & ingenuity they put into such a small figure has me hooked!! & I'm currently shop'n to get one for decent price (which may not happen lol).. but I do plan on get'n this figure at sum point & I'm glad u pointed out the issues with paint chipping ?!?(ugh such a shame 😓) but that just means I'll be Xtra carefull when handling it!! Again dude awesome Review luv the 4k quality too!!👍👌💥💯💯
I’m honestly impressed how small it is yet being so intricate. Paint chipping is annoying but man it’s a good figure. Should have just used white plastic.
Paint chipping is faithful to MP-44.
Lol😂
Hahahaha, which is why I won't transform them....picked up the unpainted version of David just to flip it around. Solid solid mould
My Newage Toxie David hasn't chipped and I've been carrying him around in my pocket/bookbag for months. I think I'll take it easy on him.
lol
Haha real
To be honest this magnus figure is accurate to the 86 movie magnus imo,and colors fit this magnus figure so well
Laughed at how the studio series ratchet was just chillin in the back
The issues can be easily fixed. A re-release could work wonders for this figure!
It did. I got this figure a couple of months ago and the only issue I have is a slightly loose knee
I've had paint chipping on the smoke stacks but nowhere else. As for the matrix chamber, there are little indents near the hinges that you can push with your nail to open it. You're just pushing on the translucent plastic so theres no risk of chipping. I wonder if anyone will ever upscale these molds, I'd love to see how it directly does against MP44 when at the same size
1:51
Damn Optimus do be thrusting at us
Great video. Nice to have all the faults pointed out before I considered buying Delta Magnus (I only really wanted the inner 'Blue Optimus Prime') but was very reluctant to hand over the 130/140 bucks. Cheers!!

Their recent beachcomber also has that issue on the chest, it seems to be a trend now
Are those figures strong? I mean, they break very soon or not
yeah the optimus prime version of this mold is bloody amazing
I recommend the newage seekers they are very accurate and amazing transfomation

I might look into that last one
Newage is a great toy company because the build and material quality is so good get there omega supreme and optimus prime there great figures.
One thing I don’t like is that the trailer for combine mode goes on like shoes
Edit: i dont mind it as much anymore
1:45 “uh a little help here?” - rachet
I hope you review more newage figures because while they have some issues they are amazing
0:25 - YOOO THERE'S MY BOI, THERE'S CW LEGENDS SKYWARP
Its still one of my favourite official legends toys
seems they changed the legs a bit, the david had that annoying gap in the middle of the shin.
1:35 I see ss ratchet still there sitting there, waiting to be released
Epok vid by the way

Yeah New age is really put'n out sum amazing figures right now👍👌💥💯💯
I feel like the issues this figure has can be fixed by some jobby fixing work, which would make this figure sooo good
I think this is one of the better looking Ultra Magnus figures. A legends figure, has a better vehicle entirior and as good possibility as a masterpiece figure, what kind of age do we live in?
*THE TWISTED GREAT ONE*
Well it is like $70, so that budget is going somewhere.
I actually am starting to think part of the problem with chipping is fans since if a figure doesn't have paint people call it cheap, and even strong paint can still chip hell some of the paint for gundums I've done my self that I've given enamel have chipped.

Lol you just described Bobby Skullface and the Takara fanboys
1:50 You vs the guy she told you not to worry about
Also, SS Ratchet is still stuck there 🤣 I watched the video where that first happened a couple days ago, so I understood the reference!
"Know your place, TRASHTCHET!"
Gotta invest in some top coat for that paint helps out quite a bit
This helps but the problem isn't the paint, it's how badly its adhered to the surface. If the whole thing got a bath in clear it would just prolong the inevitable. It's too bad that in rushing to get these figures out or just not wanting to invest the time, some valuable steps that I consider easy are overlooked.
"paint chipping." Just like the Takara MP-44 lol
This should be core glass ultra magnus
Not really. It's a very good 3rd party figure, but it's too complicated for it's size for it to be an official Hasbro core class
I've been wanting an ultra Magnus toy like that I want it for my birthday🎉
I think this is an even better mold, sure it might have paint chipping but so does MP 44
Paint chipping is unacceptable
I got lucullu, being the diaclone colors, and after transforming and posing him a lot, I dont have any looseness, or paint chipping
Gotta get the cliffjumper and bumblebee 2 pack
Newage seeker mold is amazing
You know something that kinda pissed me off now? He just has a better leg engineering than David! the paint is a shame really, engineering, articulation and sculpt is amazing, and I think the abb crunch could be tighten, but the paint...
He sure does like Ultra Magnus
Honestly I really like the Magnus core bot I want it.
Anyone else think magnus looks better without all the red and blue armor and just the white? I wanna buy an ultra magnus just for that sick white prime look
If you buy flex glue and put it in the pin that holds the ab crunch and just keep moving it as far as it can go thant it won't wiggle anymore
I just looked at the smoke stacks on mine and they're chipped as well. may have to get some Tamiya chrome silver and top coat and fix it. But i shouldn't have to do this for a figure that costs as much as it does.
if you want to try to preserve the remainign paint may want to pick some some clear coat and spray it on the figure
I don’t have any issue of paint from Newage and hope that’s will not happen to the future too…
I hope they put these legs on a prime colored one
in head cannon, Dion and Pax are Magnus and Prime.. rebuilt, with Magnus utilizing the trailer as body armour, yet, smiliar all el else except color-wise. Thanks for the review..almost going to pull the trigger on this. Going to pass due to the paint chipping.
Ur lucky my David’s smokestacks broke
Maybe some kiki and paint markers can help with the issues?
that toy guy if u buy tigatron u can make the head pop out in its beast mode
I think im gonna split the chest piece and look for some more durable paint
I’m not into third party but 😩😩😩 this looks good
The face looks derpy. I'd prefer it if they used a face that looked like the original Diaclone one.
Awesome figure
Where can I get this figure
3rd Parties love spending the budget on transformations that have 18 million panels to form one arm and not the paint LOL
I have an immense desire for mft or the like to do a ko so I can justify getting this littlest of fellows
I bought mine for 40 plus shipping in louisi- HOLY CRAP LOUIS FROM FAMILY GUY
This fig is accurate
to both g1 and prime wars trilogy
i have an answer to your chest door comment so basically they made them smaller so you could open it in armor mode
when are we getting a white mp 44 I’m not going to pick up
That’s really cool I want one
Where did you get this figure
You should try out the Newage seekers. The original star scream has some weird issues with its floppy legs, but the following seekers fixed those. That said, the star scream is still VERY good and the stand helps mitigate the floppy legs a lot.
Newage rocks!
Love Newage
There are tiny tabs at the hinge part of the chest which you can use to easily open the matrix chamber so you don't risk chipping the paint.
I don't know, the magnis form looks off to me
For me this is better then MP-22 as this have Albino Prime and MP-22 have no Albino Prime.
Where can I get legends scale figures
Depends on the country you are from
Ok…..
I WANT THAT !!!
Just get the magic square Optimus 2.0 it beats the new age in every way
Very nice
Does anyone know if there's any upscales of this figure?
Why when you compared him to the other figures Ratchet was wedged between the wall and the table😂😂😂
Love title
I wish it was mp scales
*scaled
There is a upgrade kit for this
I have the Newage David and I gotta say that it's really good
Only problems I have is that the transformation causes some paint chipping, leg transformation is pretty hard without some part separator, and the ab is pretty loose
David differs abit from this mold. The legs don't stand out as much as David. Weird that all other Primes N.A. released after use the new leg configuration.
the name still makes me laugh
Ultra magnus was actually mp-22
2:25 isn't that because the chest in Ultra Magnus opens in a different and smaller way than Optimus? Magnus has the armor on top so it has to be different
So from what I understand he's a great deal for 37$?
This was in my list but the problems... specially with the paint, it's not worthing the price (for me). It's a shame because I'm starting with legend scale. Thank for all the info.
Like him but the paint is a shame
oh oh no the paint chipping is so bad
I have the Shattered glass version of this mold and there are no issues involving loose (waist) joints nor paint chipping. HOWEVER he is shipped with Nemesis' black spare hands instead of the dark blue, so there's that. I'm kinda glad I didn't pick this one up, since I already bought the Iron Factory Beef'amus Ambus when it released. I might get this figure if I can get some money, also WOW there's already four comments and I just got the notification
Take my money
I’m honestly impressed how small it is yet being so intricate. Paint chipping is annoying but man it’s a good figure. Should have just used white plastic.
where's the armour??
What figure is this
New age ultra magnus
This isn't a mp-44, its better in everyway possible. This is what mp44 should have been
Only thing hindering from being perfect it's the gap in the windows but this thing rules over mp44 in everyway except size
