    I've used Flex wax on my 2022 Black Jeep Gladiator. I've found your spot on with application. I use a square cotton pad and only spray the pad. I like to put one coat on, wait 24 hours and put on a second coat. If applied right, most of the streaking will buff off with a micro-towel. I always have a damp (not wet) micro-towel handy in case of a few streaks. I try to do this 3-times a year. Between detailing I like the new Turtle Wax Minute wax. No streaking. Thanks for sharing.

      I have found that if Flex Wax is applied correctly (thinly), then a SLIGHTLY damp towel is all you need - I'm starting to think that now, since I've done it exactly like this for a while, using TOO damp of a cloth MIGHT adversely affect the performance of the sealant, because it seems to be working a lot better now (durability). For between details, I REALLY LIKE the (newer) Slick Shine/Detailer and Pure Shine/Detailer (booster).

      I like the Pure Shine also and I tried the Mister Cartoon detailer, it smells nice but on black is hard to keep from streaking. @@DetailedbyDon

    Results will differ, outdoors or indoors, time of year? I use this and really like the THIN application and removal, never have problems, the naked eye cannot see the in depth , at times I see a light haze, then use a well rung out microfiber cloth, wipe and done. I can say it doesn't hurt......I use the same cloth size

    Your car looks absolutely gorgeous with this product! Both my son on his car and me on my car have been having so many streaks applying this stuff on our rigs. It's a very durable product, but it's just so damn streaky....

      The Ceramic, or the Flex? I might have a solution for you. Thanks for the props on the Camaro!

      With EITHER product, if you apply them too THICK, smears & streaks galore. The thinner you apply it the better - especially the Flex Wax (I did the Camaro with it this morning - exactly like I showed using the Ceramic on it yesterday and like on the hood of the wife's car - insanely thin). It COULD be your towels. Those "Sham-Wow" towels SUCK - unless you're using them damp. Then they are great for the damp wipe and even glass. I have a glass-specific, SHORT-WEAVE microfiber towel that I use for the 'dry buff' with the Flex Wax and it works GREAT for that. So well in fact, I'm going to buy a few more JUST for that.

      I spray the Flex Wax on a Microfiber applicator pad. Then apply it to the vehicle. Benefits are
      1. You use less product. 2. You can apply it more evenly.
      3. It comes off so much easier and eliminates streaks and high spots.
      4. Eliminates frustration.

    • @DetailedbyDon
      @DetailedbyDon  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LayLow83 I USED to use one of those "UFO" shaped microfiber applicators, but I have larger hands, and they would slip off the applicator and rub against the finish. Now I use a very thin, smallish microfiber cloth that covers my whole hand and really DOESN'T absorb much product. Two, I make SEVERAL passes when applying the Flex Wax, which serves to thin it out better, ensures even & complete application AND eliminates high spots.
      My method take a few minutes longer, since I'm so methodical and OCD, but as you can see from the videos, the results are worth it.

    I dare say this is the most comprehensive video of these two products that I've seen, and I've seen A LOT of them. And to ALL of the whiners who complain that all TW products are streaky - living proof that technique is EVERYTHING.
    The Hybrid Ceramic and FLEX are outstanding sealants when used AS DIRECTED [with a little english] are easy to apply and remove.
    I've been consistently using both since their introductions. I've found [as pointed out] that a little goes a long way and [thinly] applied is the key. As for my own technique applying & removing [including Seal&Shine] I use a square applicator pad-block applying in a criss-cross pattern. For removal, I've always used a well rung out [slightly damp] short-knap microfiber followed with a fluffy buffy and always have stellar results! The extra step is only minutes...meh...
    Btw...your cars look kill-er.
    The Camaro looks boss. Sorry about the Mustang reference...🥴

      Technique trumps PRODUCT EVERY time! If you know what you're doing, you can make almost every product work well. If you DON'T know how products work, or the right techniques, the best products in the world won't help you.
      No issues with the "Boss" reference ("Boss" Mustang or not). Even though it was before my time, I remember that Boss was a HUGE compliment 👍
      Thank you for the positive words on the video, makes me feel 👍etter about it being so long (my longest to date).

      🤣 Since I do most of my videos in the garage at the wee hours of the morning, it's probably a bug of some sort, but it could be dust 🤣

    Camaro looks great. When I first started using Flex, I used a little too much and got high spots. But learned a little is all you need. I do most of my detailing outside since my garage is used for woodworking and noticed hot sunny days will cause it to dry faster and leave some streaks. That’s when I needed to use a damp microfiber.

    • @DetailedbyDon
      @DetailedbyDon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It took me from the time they (Hybrid Solutions Products), until recently to realize JUST HOW LITTLE you need to use. In fact, I've discovered that by using the minimum amount of product and wiping it in WELL during application, all you need is a LIGHTLY damp towel to "level" the sealants and a good lint-free microfiber to finish it off. Doing it this way, I've also found they perform BETTER and last LONGER than if you try and use too much.

    Mike Schmidt suggest in his interview with Pan the Organizer that 2 sprays per panel. Why? He states the SiO2 is water activated to eliminate streaks. This applies to the entire Hybrid line up of Sealants; including Seal and Shine👍. Lastly users are going to do what they want and be damned reading directions. But they love to complain.

      @@audieconrad8995 👍 All 3 of my cars are old but what’s great about today’s products the allow you to enhance the gloss/ shine in the paint especially if you’ve got a pearl type of paint👍. Very satisfied with Turtle Wax products 👍. Not to mention they are so affordable and many critics think they are useless because of the low prices 😂

    • @DetailedbyDon
      @DetailedbyDon  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A GOOD detailer READS the directions provided by the manufacturer until they UNDERSTAND them (they MADE the stuff, they should know how to use it). Then USE the product - as per instructions - UNTIL they get enough experience with it, to KNOW exactly WHEN and HOW they can "tweak" the instructions slightly to get better performance. That's exactly what this whole video was - an experiment on tweaking the instructions SLIGHTLY, based on using the products for over a year and getting familiar with them. If you start going "Off Label" from the beginning and NOT getting good results - then it is YOUR fault, NOT the product's.

    This product is way more easier than that. I put 2 spray directly on the panel, wipe it level with a DRY low knit microfiber towel until the panel is fully dry looking and coated, wait a minute or so, and wipe it down through it flashing almost instantly with a microfiber that I only sprits once with a spray bottle filled with filtered water. NOTE: you can see the flash with the barely sprits microfiber because it will have a tiny micro beading effect to it as the product it fighting off water penetration. If the microfiber is too wet you already ruined the curing point and it will need to dry out to flash again or you will be buffing your ass off until it dries again. I got no hazing after the light wipe with the barely damp microfiber...The car I did it on was a 2013 all black Dodge Charger RT with trashed paint with swirls, oxidation, embedded contaminant in the paint, and water spot etching that i did a full one step correct with Turtle Wax 1 and Done...Decontamination with 75% filtered water & 25% (91% alcohol mix) in a spray bottle prior to using the FLEX wax because there will be oily residue left from any type of wax or compound. If your trying to go over another coat of wax you will have issues unless it's another graphene product from Turtle Wax..(GRAPHENE BONDS TO GRAPHENE BEST) On a clean panel this product way easy to apply and cure...On my wife's 2020 Hyundai Sante Fae all I did was a quick application. I first washed the SUV, Synthetic Clay barred aggressively with a lubricant, rinsed it off, dried it with my leaf blower (You want to get the vehicle bone dry), did the alcohol prep and waited for it to fully dry, I sprayed every panel on each end with FLEX WAX, used my garden hose with the high pressured flat spray pattern spraying the vehicle from the bottom in upward motions to keep the majority of the FLEX WAX on each panel, and kept rinsing it until a seen no more milky substance of the FLEX wax coming off the SUV...I then dried the car with my leaf blower and then a plush large towel until completely bone dry. Her car has been beading and shealthing for over a month now with the spray on wash off method... This product is way TOO EASY TO USE!

    Less is more though easier said than done. I try to focus and do a spray and a half so to speak so less than the 2 suggested. It makes for less streaking from what I've seen and hey I save a bit and make the bottle last longer 😂?!

    • @DetailedbyDon
      @DetailedbyDon  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's all about learning the trigger on the sprayer as well as using less product. I've done it so often that a one-half trigger spray is easy. And yes, using less product does make the bottle last longer and lowers the "cost per coat" making it a better value.
