Parents should never bury their children
Because it’s not in the order of things; in a typical life cycle. Very sad when it happens. It happened to my mother with my brother.

Luke, You continue to amaze me. Sammy's Mom on May 15, 1997..seven years past her son's passing. I cans see Sammy in his Mom's face. Sammy died on my birthday, May 16, 1990...the second of the Rat Pack to go. I'll post a clip at your FB site..my tribute to Sammy.
tallpaul521 Thanks a bunch, Paul! She was 92 when we shot this interview... what genes, huh? Also, her apartment was on 1st Avenue and 61st or 62nd street, northwest corner... Sammy bought it for her... mid-century modern brick, just like the one that you see out the window across 1st Avenue on the east side... :)

Late reply for anyone else who's curious- As far as wikepedia says, she was a New Yorker born to Puerto Rican parents, with Spanish and Afro-Cuban descent. So...all of the above.

What people don't know is Sammy Davis Jr mother & grandmother outlived him...his grandmother died in 1996 and his mom would pass away in 2000.
Sammy's mother Elvera had him at a young age when she was 19 years old in 1925.
His grandmother lived to be 112.
Even if Sammy did have a condo in Vegas, the mother didn't know and didn't want to say he stayed in hotels do to his marriage on the rocks. Should be respected and moved on. Basically telling a mother your wrong about your child is disrespectful.
